It made me think of when my niece tells me about something that I don't care about but have to pretend it's the greatest thing ever. Or like how when my mom's cats start chattering at her and she responds back like it's the most interesting thing ever, even if it's just her cat meowing at her.
I think Markiplier is this way not necessarily Mark. Like I do think he is a goofy person, but the ending was more so him. If you watch his live streams when he goes on tangents or during interviews he's quieter and a little more serious. I know when he was on tour someone said something rather rude and he was the first to say something, but he wasn't loud. He acknowledged the comment and moved on (he genuinely sounded pissed- it was a comment about his friends and Amy) and then he went back to being "Markiplier" by saying something goofy. I think Mark is very good at reading people and the mood. He plays off that but has no barrier to speak his mind. I do think he is goofy, humble, kind, smart but I also think he knows he's being watched by so many people. We all know him as Markiplier, thus he will show us Markiplier 90% of the time (on-screen).
I got the impression that he was really nervous and doing his best to be entertaining in case he ended up being bad at cooking, and that's how he entertains, so...
