This is the best cooking content around - absolutely love how creative they are in planning and then we get to watch them execute and critique their work. I’d happily watch an hour long version of this. Sohla and Ham are phenomenal!
Agree! I'd watch an hour or more! I love them and their teaching style. Clear, concise, knowledgeable, relaxed and interesting. Plus the menu/recipes they come up with are amazing.
I'm always impressed by how much they manage to get done in just an hour. Maybe some day they get like 4 hours or something to just go nuts, for a special or season finale or something like that.
The way Sohla and Ham look at each other and work together, you can just feel that it's true love. They're energy is unmatched. Love watching videos with them!
Yes, the teamwork and the respectful/constructive creative process where they bounce ideas until both are happy with the final plan.... just truly a joy to watch. They both love food and love one another and it comes through in such a lovely way.
NYT: Okay so you have one hour to make two courses about bacon. Ham and Sohla: pull off 4 courses, successfully braise bacon in a slowcooker, make grits, make their own sausage, paint the cistene chapel.
Ham is so sweet, he could tell Sohla reeeaally wanted that BLT sandwich even after his tomato juice shot BLT idea so he tried to defer back to the sandwich, and she chose to compromise so they can have both. Love it 😍
I think maybe the producers worried initially that giving them more mainstream ingredients would lessen the excitement or the creativity. I'm glad that this episode shows how that's clearly not the case.
Grew up watching Iron Chef and just realized that that's what Sohla and Ham are doing but with much less help. They're truly brilliant and such great partners. Love how Ham made sure Sohla had what she wanted in the dish, the BLT.
These episodes are always so much better when they get a real ingredient instead of something processed. They even say they prefer it too. It makes it so much more fun
I do not normally “like” videos. I do not normally comment. But I learn more from 20 minutes of Sohla and Ham cooking then I do anywhere else. And therefore I will support their content in any way possible.
Sohla and Ham are so brilliant. They really should have their own cooking show. Show us poor schlubs how to cook brilliant meals. Pantry staples, one ingredient three course meals and the like. There would be so many grateful fans!
I love the one that Sohla does on Food52's channel where she makes a main dish and then shows you how to riff off of it and take the dish in another direction by changing key ingredients! It's called Off-Script with Sohla. I think it's an incredible idea because the best way to go from a good cook to a great cook is learning how to adapt base recipes using your own favorite flavors, methods, and ingredients.
So great! I'd love to see more episodes with real ingredients like this. I'd totally make a tasting menu centered on bacon, but never on Halloween candy, Hot Pockets, or Jell-O. They're so excited about bacon. Delicious-looking final product. Thanks again, Sohla and Ham!
Hope the producers see this comment. As fun as it is to see them work with crazy ingredients, this video has been more educational than anything they’ve put out before imo. I learned like 5 new techniques and suggestions because they were working in their wheelhouse and not grasping at straws!
I can totally see Sohla and Ham running one of those restaurants that have a rotating menu with what's in season, they are such a great team and so skilled at their craft. Everything they make sounds so good.
I love them individually but love them more as a couple. They are creative, they work together, they praise each others work, they never snap with each other even under duress.
One of my favorite parts is at the end waiting to see if Ham or Sohla is the first one to say "Who knew?" Watching them surprise themselves is truly a joy. This is my favorite series online, thanks for bringing it back!
not to get too heavy, but as someone in recovery for an eating disorder seeing people so knowledgeable and excited about food is really, really helpful for me. it makes me feel more excited about things as simple as a BLT, and reminds me that i can have fun cooking and eating. food can be fun and exciting and experimental and joyful. plus, it’s always so fun to watch people who are good at and love what they do get to be as creative as possible. these videos teach me so much and make me actually want to cook something
Sohla and Ham are my favorite duo. You can tell how much they love and appreciate food as they describe it. Watching them work together in the kitchen is pure magic. ❤
Hearing Sohla and Ham saying "it's gonna be okay" and "no matter what happens we'll be having something tasty" immediately makes me feel better about the shit in my life. The seasonal booster we've all being waiting for. (and the not-so-subtle suggestion of another episode of gingerbread showdown yay!!!)
Please never stop providing us with Sohla and Ham content! I love watching their chemistry and how they plan everything out. They are such a great team and I'm so happy every time I see a video with them pop up on my feed!!!
This is my comfort show. Going through watching every one. I love them and their dynamic and it's magical to watch them do their thing and create amazing dishes.
I love the way Sohla and Ham always go above and beyond what's expected--not to show off but for the love of food and the love of each other. Their level of communication and the degree to which they inspire each other is something I aspire to!
Sohla and Ham are A+ food-tainment. They have all the showmanship (with lots of thanks to the camera work and editors, lest we forget!), and still manage to usually get some teaching across. I always learn new things, even if they're kinda small. That's really hard to balance! Especially in a way that appeases the TH-cam gods. Keep up the good work you guys!! NYT, I'd LOVE if you included some proper captioning. It'd really help.

This was such a good episode I wanna smell that kitchen so badly. Bacon was a fitting choice, I’d like to see more “regular” ingredients because it still takes a lot of creativity to make something cross the sweet-savory boundary and still be balanced. Give them turnips or rhubarb or foie gras, something weird. Idk but keep ‘em comin!
“I barely used salt.” Cut to Ham throwing handfuls of salt into the grits. (Seriously the most fun cooking content on the web today. Looking forward to more!)
I ordered sohla’s new cookbook. and I’m really excited to be able to see how all that works and I am so glad that they’re back with new Contant. I just love the way these to work together and it’s fun. I have been a fan for a long long long time. What I would like to see is maybe one of these times when you get an ingredient see what you could do for somebody who has diabetes.
That’s me! Diabetes, cholesterol and blood pressure, so low fat low sodium and no sugar. There’s still inspiration that can be found in some recipes though this one with bacon is difficult. There are still variations of each dish here that could be created
I haven't even watched the video but SOHLA and HAM ARE BACK!!! Yippeee!!!! I was literally thinking to myself today that "I'm gonna need Sohla and/or Ham to put our a new video soon or I'll call them out on Twitter" 😂 so this makes me very very happy 😁
I almost didn't watch this, because watching people cook a bunch of bacon seemed really boring to me, then I remembered the creativity and knowledge Sohla and Ham bring to the table, and it turned out pretty fun!
about shirt..it gets better and then it gets worse: I googled and it's a limited edition shirt that has sohla's death by chocolate cake recipe in the back and its totally sold out.
Sohla's "Off-Script" series with Food52 is probably a lot closer to what she cooks like at home. But iirc she said in a "what I eat in a day" video that she doesn't do as much cooking for herself as one would expect, since she juices every morning and then tastes her cooking as she works lol
Usually I watch these with an appreciation of Sohla and Ham's skills and mastery and a knowledge that I will probably never make any of these things myself, but holy crap am I going to experiment with those crepes this weekend.
BLT! Absolutely, hands down, my favorite. Love summer because of real tomatoes, not the thick-skinned off-season ones. Over the years I've found BLTs at non-franchise family diners ~ in California, Nevada, and Arizona. Too much bacon is bad. Old, dried, and over-cooked bacon is bad. No one needs bacon bits falling out! Good crispy lettuce and not too much mayo. I will occasionally go with avocado or Tabasco. These days I'm forgiving about bread but sourdough is a good choice. YUM!
An episode where Sohla and Ham have to incorporate the food ham into a full meal would be hilarious, solely because at one point somebody would get confused about whether it was Ham or ham being talked about.
"I was trying to go as fast as I could but, like, everything got done in the last seven minutes." It's final project season as a college student, so, yeah, I felt that.
I enjoyed this much more than episodes that use silly ingredients like 4 courses of jellybeans. (Don't remember if one was ACTUALLY jellybeans.) My takeaways are Tomato Knorr and Peanut Bacon Crumble. I WILL be putting that on SOMETHING.
ITS A GOOD DAY WHEN SOHLA AND HAM CONTENT COMES OUT WOOOO
😊yes!
You are so right!

It really is incredibly entertaining to watch these two professionals at work
Omg yes! Hour long videos would be awesome!
Agree 100% hey we all get our vote. Also hoping to get a decent gespacho
I'm always impressed by how much they manage to get done in just an hour. Maybe some day they get like 4 hours or something to just go nuts, for a special or season finale or something like that.
I've been thinking the same thing! It boggles the mind!
I'd love to see full tasting menu for end of season with whichever ingredient and maybe even drinks

wow you're naïve. it is called editing hun.
That's basically the ginger bread house contests they've had.
The way Sohla and Ham look at each other and work together, you can just feel that it's true love. They're energy is unmatched. Love watching videos with them!
I love that! The way they talk to each other is always so kind, fun and encouraging, they really do have such a beautiful energy between them.
Yes, the teamwork and the respectful/constructive creative process where they bounce ideas until both are happy with the final plan.... just truly a joy to watch. They both love food and love one another and it comes through in such a lovely way.

Made me tear up a little because he listened to the unspoken and wanted to represent what she really needed to have.😢
It's all the fun of the creativity of Iron Chef but collaborative rather than competitive

Jello episode tho ended up being an art piece after all the struggle
It should be a mix of both. I love seeing Sohla and Ham get extremely creative when the ingredient is unconventional
I can totally see Sohla and Ham running one of those restaurants that have a rotating menu with what's in season, they are such a great team and so skilled at their craft. Everything they make sounds so good.

Not only are they fabulous together, but their explanation allows me to almost taste everything through their words!

for the love of god these episodes need to be longer. I want every minute of this. it's just one hour and then some, why can't it be all here
"girl that's a full blender!" is my favorite line, i love the way they talk to each other with so much love and laughter!
For the love of God, please give these people more time!
Give them their own TV show.

Please bring back mystery menu. I love this so much. I hope Sohla and Ham did too.
Love the way they just JUMPED straight into brainstorming as soon as they knew the ingredient. The excitement was so contagious.
Lol Ham saying “on paper this is really simple stuff”
Yay! More Sohla! She is a light and a joy. Ham is a bonus.😘 PLUS watching these two work together... seriously, relationship goals.
I love these two. Didn’t realize how much I missed them.
God they really are so impressive! Love the El-Waylly’s 🎉

Couldn’t be happier this series is back
well, I guess I found my new favourite cooking show ❤
Electric chemistry and creativity!!!!
I love this series so much because it’s such an exercise in play and joy of food - always inspiring and excited to see more eps this season!!
I'm so, so happy to see this series back. Sohla + Ham forever!!

Yes, the best cooking show around. This is the cooking team we need!
I had to watch this in a few sittings to savor the good that is Ham and Sohla!
Lovely to see Sohla and Ham doing Mystery Menu again. More PLEASE we enjoy these videos very much.
it takes me an hour to fry chicken wings, i am so amazed at how much you get done within an hour and how coordinated you are!!
it’s so much nicer to watch when they enjoy the base ingredient!
Truly the very best cooking content on TH-cam. Whatever you are paying them, it is not enough.
these two could make cereal and it would still probably be worthy of a fancy restaurant they're so fun to watch
Bacon. Bacon. Bacon and eggs. Bacon and grits. I died and went to heaven. Thank you guys!!!
This is so therapeutic to watch! They are the best duo on the internet in my opinion. Soooo much happier and brighter here!
The creativity is through the roofs with those two - always! Absolutely amazing end results!
So fun!! All the food looks so delicious!! Also I'm obsessed with Sohla's t-shirt lol
about shirt..it gets better and then it gets worse: I googled and it's a limited edition shirt that has sohla's death by chocolate cake recipe in the back and its totally sold out.
So glad to see Sohla and Ham back again! I wanted everything on this menu.
I just love this segment with Sohla and Ham. They're amazing!
Sohla always surprises me with their sketches, I love them, they are great at it ❤
i am very happy to see ingredients that the chefs enjoy using! it makes it more fun as a viewer
This is just so fun to watch!! The amount of knowledge and creativity they both have is so inspiring and impressive.
Do I eat bacon? No
Did I like this video before I even finished watching? YES!
Can we get a Ham and Sohla cook at home in a chill way they actually eat for dinner?
Yes! Ideas for cooking at home together. 🎉
Honestly, I would watch them just microwave takeout.
Sohla's "Off-Script" series with Food52 is probably a lot closer to what she cooks like at home. But iirc she said in a "what I eat in a day" video that she doesn't do as much cooking for herself as one would expect, since she juices every morning and then tastes her cooking as she works lol

So love this and so glad they had such a great mystery ingredient to work with! Sohla and Ham are the best!
YAY! YAY! We need more of Sohla and Ham!!!!!!
YUM!
Thank you, Sohla and Ham, delighted any time we get to see the two of you!
Its been so long id almost given up!! I luv sohla and ham together. I still want to see them open and run a diner in a small town (like mine)!!
Who knew bacon could be so light and versatile? You’ve made me hungry and now I want to try your recipes . . . Thank you, Sohla and Ham!
Every one of sohla’s “mm, mhmm, mmm” made me wish I could try the dishes 🥲
An episode where Sohla and Ham have to incorporate the food ham into a full meal would be hilarious, solely because at one point somebody would get confused about whether it was Ham or ham being talked about.

It's final project season as a college student, so, yeah, I felt that.
FINALLY!!! I’ve missed Sohla and Ham 😭😭😭
I love that Ham circled back to make sure there was a BLT on the menu because it's Sohla's favorite sandwich.
These two always put a huge smile on my face.
