  • I've encountered a few mixed articles on how to install Android Auto and Apple Car Play on a 2017 Porsche Macan. Given I went through the process myself, I figured I'd put together a video to show everyone how to do it yourselves!
    Prerequisites:
-Get an SD card (full size or micro with a full size SD card adapter)
    -Have a computer
-Ensure you have a way of connecting to an SD card either natively with the computer or through an adapter or dongle
    Steps to install:
    --Preparing the SD Card
    1. Format the SD card to Fat32. If the SD card is larger than 8gb, only format up to 8gb of usable space on the drive (you may need to use the disk management tool for this)
    2. Go to this link, download the source.zip of the latest non beta/pre release based on the current date: github.com/Mr-MIBonk/M.I.B._M...
    2. Extract the .zip folder's entire contents into the SD card
    3. Go to this second link. Enter the guest username & password. Navigate to the MIB folder and then download the MIB Patches .zip folder: mibsolution.one/
    4. Extract the second .zip folder's entire contents into the Patches folder on the SD card (ex. D:\Patches)
    5. Rename the file "_Swdlautorun.txt" on the SD Card to "Swdlautorun.txt" to allow the firmware to install automatically once it's inserted into your vehicle
--Installing Android Auto / Apple Car Play on a Porsche Macan
    6. Insert the SD card into the SD1 slot below the Macan's infotainment screen
    7. Turn the vehicle to on (do not start the engine)
    8. If you setup autorun, the update should start automatically, if not go to the Porsche Macan's infotainment screen and select a software update from SD1
    9. The unit will now update and reboot itself 3 times as part of the process, let this complete. After the third reboot, set a 5 minute timer
    10. Press the "Home" button to go to the Home screen. Then press and hold the Car & Tuner buttons at the same time for 5 seconds. A green menu will appear
    11. Using the scroll wheel to the right of the infotainment display, scroll down (left scoll) to the MIB menu button. Press in on the scroll wheel to confirm
    12. Scroll down further in this new menu until you see the "patch_unit_aio" menu. Press in on the scroll wheel to confirm
    13. Scroll down to the Patch Now button, press enter to confirm this selection. Some work will begin
    14. Once this is done, you can press Home to go back to the main menu. Plug in your USB cable into the center console and connect your phone. It should then start the process of pairing to Android Auto or Apple Car Play

Just updated my 2017 boxster using your video... Not everything was exactly the same during the install process, but figured it out and it worked like a charm! Thank you so so so much for putting this video together!

If you're doing this I URGE you to make sure that your patches are properly extracted into the patches folder. I didn't the first time and noticed that nothing was actually extracted into them so when I did the installation process, everything went somewhat smoothly until I connected my phone and nothing happened. I then uninstalled MIB from the porsche and properly extracted the patches into the patches folder and redid the entire installation. BOOM NOW IT WORKS THANK YOU!!!

Hi! This video is AWESOME! I will be doing this process this weekend. Quick question, is this a one time solution or would I need to update my PCM with the latest version via this process every so often? Thanks so much!

Great video! Would this work on a 2020 Macan? My PCM is the large wide screen version so i assume 5.0.

@@TheMoose22 you have PCM 4.1 (or PCM 5). This method is for the 17 and 18 for sure. I haven't seen info on how to add to the 19+

Just in case you haven't heard of Innovative soft...I went with that outfit, a guy named Raymond, and it worked. It cost around $500 IIRC. I probably would have tried self-programming if I could have found something. '20 Base with Bose.
BTW - this is a great video!

Quick question. Does yours have the BOSE sound system? If yes, does the sound and everything work correct? I’ve heard some have gotten their BOSE sound screwed after MIB update/patch
