Ari and Zack are excited about ANY machine with two wheels, but some are undeniably spicier than others. KTM’s 1290 Super Duke R is a perfect example-150 horsepower and 92 foot-pounds of torque mean wheelies on demand, and a sporty, modern chassis to match. So when Team Orange announced that the new-for-2017 Super Duke would be unleashed in the Middle East, the boys knew they had to get there. Riding around the city of Doha and then lighting the fuse on the KTM’s 1.3-liter V-twin at the home of the Qatar Grand Prix was too good to pass up. But, for Ari, there was one small problem...

I feel like the Super Duke is a street bike you can love at the track, and the S1000R and Tuono are track bikes that you can love on the street. I think it was very smart of KTM to recognize that and say "Hey, BMW and Aprilia already nailed the super naked track bike. Lets dominate the super naked street bike then."
and even after being a street bike first, It's bonkers. i haven't rode it but it sure sounds and looks bonkers.

I really like your guys' reviews as you both actually know how to ride and also have a fun lighthearted personality. Favorite reviewers out of all of them (one of only 2 channels I've subscribed to). I wish you guys would put in more technical details (as in what, precisely, do you like on this bike over the last one? What isn't great?). Your reviews are a big part of why I have a 15 1290 and am waiting on my 17 701 to come in :)

Checking in to throw you some applause... you are easily my favorite channel for motorcycle reviews and adventures... and I think you're managing a solid mix between OTW, MC Garage and MC Commute... though if I had my way you'd be doing a LOT more adventure episodes. IMO while I've watched every episode you've published, you have one standout episode... and that's the Ural/MB5 adventure. If you think about it... it was actually combining OTW and MC Garage in a single episode that the Roadkill guys probably thought "man if we rode bikes... THAT'S the shit we'd be doing". I also think your on-screen chemistry works and makes the Ari & Zack episodes greater than the 'sum of their parts'. So... keep up the good work, think about maybe a few more adv episodes a year (and maybe even some challenges like "take some old bikes and see what you can do with them". Finally... maybe a long form episode a year - ride coast to coast on old 2 stroke road bikes or something equally crazy. Finally - finally... congrats to your crew, they make you look good without getting in the way... I bet they deserve a raise.

An excellent review. Not sure I can justify the price difference between this and a top spec s1000r. I think I will wait and pick up a low mileage second hand one later on in 2017.
Wish Honda would let you guys ride the 2017 CBR 250RR around the Sentul circuit. They were testing the Asia Road Racing Championship model at Buriram Thailand Circuit last week. Heard there's a larger displacement 320cc model in the works for the rest of the world(like R25->R3).

Yeah 18k is a lot, than think about that! In my country the bike costs 22550€ most ppl 's salary is about 1600ytl wich is 347€ per month. Now think about to buy one. If you are not rich or at least a high end earning person than good luck with buying one anytime soon. If I would earn let's say 1600€ a month well than 18k or even 22k is not that bad really. BTW love this channel, keep up the great work.

Thanks guys. Do these hight end KTMs have same reliabiity problems as the smaller displacement Bajaj assembled ones. My opinion is that KTM is a proper " MAN'S/FUN BIKE" but this side of the world (middle east) they are notorious for reliability issues i.e, engine stalling for over heating, fragile wheels that brake off, oil leaking , water hose blasting off etc, , ,
c'mon dude.. these high end KTM is sure good reliability. Do not compare with 125, 200 or 390. These from another world.

I can tell you that the monster 1200 is bot that reliable , had throttle issue , gearing is crap , should I continue !?
Don't compare quality for region of build , it is the design and materials choice that matters . All brands have reability problems to a point , but this is not what i asked for in my comment .

I was looking at both the 2015 S1000R and 2015 Superduke R. I always wanted the BMW but I ended up getting the Superduke. Sure, the BMW has a lot more technology and electronics but the Superduke was cheaper and the 1300cc engine sold me. I'm definitely going to get the S1000RR next... unless KTM comes out with its own supersport RR that isn't the RC8. lol

I'd love to see an FZ-12, a yamaha 1200cc sport vtwin with styling similar to current FZ series, with a modest price point that beats out the superduke and monster 1200.
