I have a 2016 1290 and love it. It brings out the hooligan out in me. The brutal power delivery is intoxicating. I can't wait until each riding season starts.
6:02 If you swap the stock air filter out for a high flow (low filtering) Sprint Race air filter, or the like, you will also increase the induction noise along with the increased exhaust note. You also gain a solid "10%" in total horsepower. Not a sale pitch either, ive seen this proven by Chris Moore (Moore Mafia) here on youtube with a few different motorcycle brands. One bike seen a full 10 "hrsepwrs" increase, With JUST the filter swap, That was even before the tune, and the exhaust swap. Bike gained 25 Hp total across the entire power band with the filter, complete exhaust and tune.
US market bikes don't really provide a reliable example for how much of an increase you can get from a proper tune simply because all modern US delivered bikes receive a very different tune from factory to most of the rest of the world. So they always have much more to gain from a tune than the same bikes in other markets.
Bought a 990 duke on release two months ago, just done my first 5000km on it. Absolutely love it! I do regret not trying 1390 at the dealer tho, must be a beast!
The quality of this channel is on a rapid incline! Well done. BTW, you're excellent at reviews, and OK at the more engineering-related vids. Keep if up! Thanks!
Is it hideous? Yes. Is KTM fleecing me for electronic packages? Yes. Will it break down? Yes. Will I make this my 4th SDR? Absolutely!! It's so dumb but this bike is a riot to ride everytime. I'm probably that stupid.
What I can’t deal with is the terrible reliability. My second gen 1290 has been the worst bike I ever owned from this pov, lousy build quality and something is always breaking or rusting. Fun to ride but it’s a no from me.
@bobhill2057 don't get me wrong. I adore my 1290 evo and will be getting 1390 evo too. It has flaws which is probably why I keep coming back to it. Everyone talk shit about KTM, myself included but it has a certain factor about it.
Ive ridden the big duke, the monster, speed triple and MT10. I still think that the 1050 Speed Triple is most fun to ride, and the most “violent” feeling motor of the lot.
My 2020 1290GT is the best all-around road motorcycle I've ever owned by a great margin, and that's up against some really steep contenders from Yamaha, Suzuki, and BMW... I can only imagine that the work they've done in the past 4 years makes this nothing short of incredible. They've got this game figured out. Keep up the amazing videos mate.
yeah only thing stopping me buying a 1290 was the headlight, I hated it like I also dont like the speed triple....However I do now own a 1390 :) And the insurance is cheaper than what I was paying for the 2023 GSX S1000GT I traded in
Considering one of these for my next bike... perhaps a lightly used Evo (early 2025). So, as you can imagine, I've been watching every review on TH-cam. The algorithms suggested your video and I must say the presentation, delivery and editing is so on point. Really enjoyed from start to finish. New subscriber acquired.
Wow, an electronic wonder horse of metal... i like it! When i finally grow tired of my 2018 Aprilia RSV4 RF LE, the very first motorbike with wings, and i bought the F1RST one... but that might not happen. But i do like it... thanks my brother
They can say what they want about that headlight - it makes the 990 and 1390 instantly recognized. There are few gas stops where we don't get approached by people who love the looks of the bike.
These are beautiful bikes. I love the head lights they look sinister . Funny how KTMs stand out. Every time I ride mine to the gym I park it in front and people can’t stop saying what a cool looking bike it is.
Didn't they just.... However, I thoroughly believe ANY tail tidy on this will be MILES better than the shit we get for other bikes. Stick it on the side PLEASE Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki, KTM, BMW, Triumph, Ducati, Suzuki, HD, MV Agusta, Apr...........
I've had a 2020 tuono v4 1100 for 2 years and love it, went to ktm just today to test ride the 1390. I have to say I was surprised how smooth it was, when letting off tge throttle . But when I sat down to discuss price, OMG the bike comes with all the gizmos but you have to pay KTM an extra £1200 just for a update to unlock them, this even includes unlocking the quick shifter, which to me is absolutely stupid. Then stuff like heated grips are extra again £300 plus fitting and upgrade the electronics, the list goes on and on. Final price as the demo I tested was £23000. And that's without and additional trims, carbon bits etc, and if you want the exhaust that's £2700 more on top. Test ride was OK i didnt like how plastic it felt, and there was a cheap feel to the bike, upon acceleration you can hear plastic vibrate like the airbox is loose or something, BUT 5 minutes back on my tuono and I was far happier. Don't believe all the hype, the dash and all the controls on the ktm are just far too extensive, it's a motorbike not a bloody playstation. And we all know that stuff just goes WRONG faster and more frequently

Thanks for mentioning the Superduke 990, it is a *Superduke* at the end, but i dont understand why KTM dont count it as part of the Superduke family..by the way that 1390 is an awesome bike! cheers!
New headlight looks alright, but it's a pain to clean the bugs out. There are heated grips available and adjusting the suspension is really easy. I used the price dip of the gen 3.0 when this came out to get a nice gen 3.0 and it's awesome. Mostly the same bike for 60% of the price.

I don't like the DRL's I think the LED strips could have been half as thick (meaning thinner), and the Predator Jaw could have been a bit more narrow. Then it would look dope. At the moment it looks less aggressive than the previous headlamp imo.
My opinion on the techpack. My previous bike was a 990 and the option for a quickshift is a aftermarket. Just like with my current 1290 (gen1) and the quickshifter i want cost 800 euro it is a quickshift with blipper. I just took a look at a local ktm dealer and if i buy a gen 2 or 3 and i want a quickshifter it is 400 euro, and it is the most official one you can get. Also if you buy a brand new bike just try to get a deal with the dealer for the extra options. Love my 2017. But I bought It used, it would be irrational for me to spend a amount of new bike tbh. It's quite a bit of $$$ The question is : is it worth the update ? Thank you.
The problem with quadlock is, I don't have a phone of which they have a case for. And the cases cost about 4x more than what I'd pay for some plastics.

What does it translate to in English?
The first two are the surnames of the founders of the company and the third word is the name of the town where KTM originated.
Lol I just asked Google
potato / potato
Whoooooooooooooooooooooooooo Cares?
AYY WE GOT THE QUAD LOCK SPONSORSHIP
Dude, been here since 30K, YOU ARE GOING UP IN THE WORLD.
I can't wait for more and more and more
Quad lock sucks. I'm not going to put a special case on my phone to attach it to my bike. The Ram quick grip is just better.
I just got back from my second day with my 1390 Evo. Man, I'm in love with this thing!
I have a 2016 1290 and love it. It brings out the hooligan out in me. The brutal power delivery is intoxicating.
I can't wait until each riding season starts.
Beast 2.0 was the best looking SDR so far. I'd trade in my 3.0 for a 2.0 in a millisecond.
I bought a 2023 KTM super Duke R Evo 1290 last year and I freaking love it I was always the sport bike guy, but this thing has definitely won me over.

The headlight is awsome I wish they used it on 790 also ...
I agree, they took the bug like headlight and made it futuristic. I hope all KTM bikes get that headlight.
Well the 990, which replaces the 890 (which itself replaced the 790) has the same style of headlight
Taste is in the eye of the beholder, personally I don't like the look.
But I bet that these bikes are a ton of fun
@@Masse24796I too absolutely hate the headlight, they totally ruined the beautiful previous gen headlights
