  • I walk you through step by step on how to change the spark plugs on your Land Rover LR3/LR4 to give it a tune-up.
A tune up is a major maintenance that can be done at home with just a little time and patience. I upgraded from platinum spark plugs to Bosch iridium plugs. The entire job took me under 40 minutes.
A tune-up can restore lose horsepower, can improve mpg and make the vehicle ride smooth again. Give your Land Rover a tuneup at home and save yourself some money and time. Plus you will feel good about what you just accomplished.

NEVER use 'Locktite' on spark plug threads. A SMALL amount of anti-sieze lubricant on the spark plug threads is a good practice. Also clean the connecting surfaces in the coil-to-spark plug and coil pack connections with an aerosol contact cleaner and then LIGHTY coat those connections with a silicone dielectric grease during reassembly is a good practice. Great video!

As always, awesome guidance. I found that using two 3" extenders worked great for me instead of using the 6" extender because of the limited room working on some of the plugs. It made the job a lot easier. You've saved me yet again, thanks bro, from the ATL.

oxmanagain I will. I love it, though it hasnt been the best of experiences as of yet. The dealer I bought it from completely lied about its condition and I had to sue to get a partial refund to fix what was wrong. Though I still have to replace the air shocks. Have you done that yet? How easy or hard is it? Judging from what Ive seen, its only a few bolts and an airline, with the back being much easier to do than the front, due to the tight front fit. Other than a screw or two,vit also looks basic.

For my 2006 Range Rover HSE all plugs need regapped they come as 0.040" and mine need to be 0.053 which I didn't figure out right away. At 0.040" my mpg was 13.5 now its 14.6 at 0.053" huge difference. It will at least apply to the 4.4l JAG motor..which is what I have..I went with Champion double iridium..great video

Anether good video. AS Paul Ward says, with theses aluminum heads you must only turn in the plug by hand at first to be certain the threads are meshing correctly. When unplugging the wires you squeeze the tab on the plug that comes off to release it. Not sure if this was clear in the video. The tab can be seen in the video when you re-connect the wire. I may buy an LR3 in the future so interested in this series. Currently have 98 and a 2000 Range Rover. Owned 2 Discos in the past.
