This one wrecked havoc to my youth group. My kids who received this message all began to judge those they felt were not sufficiently saved. Then they began to struggle with sin and began to believe THEY too were not saved. I saw those kids fall into the same mess they had accused the other kids of and a few eventually made their way back to the Lord but dear Lord were their lives a mess it took years to recover from this works based attempt at salvation by emotional response.

According to Calvinism, which Paul Washer believes, his answer to that girl should have been, "Nothing. There is nothing you can do to be saved, because that would be synergism and we can't have that. You have to hope that God unconditionally elected you from before the foundations of the world. You have to hope that you are irresistibly graced, and that you are given faith. But understand that you probably aren't."

That first Washer clip marks both one of my darkest days and the beginning of light.
I had been drifting into Calvinism. I knew all was not right, I could feel it. Tried exactly what he prescribed. Hid in my room for hours under a blanket praying, "crying out to God" deathly afraid. I eventually gave up. It was probably the deepest despair I had ever been in. I just didn't care to go on. I didn't know who to turn to. All I had left for reckoning, the only place I knew I could find God real voice there was in the book...his Word. I went back to that beginning. "God is not a man that he should lie." John 3:16, John 6, the Bread of Life discourse, Isaiah 53. Whosoever believes can have it. Whosoever means me! Just trust Jesus for it, understand who he is and believe he did it for you, that's it.
Then I found this fellow named Yankee on YT who's sermons cleared one by one all my other buts (1John, judging a tree by its fruit, repentance etc)
Salvation is free. Believe on Jesus and you are truly free!

I totally agree with you. Every time I listened to his teaching, I would be left feeling confused and unworthy. And then I remind myself that that is why Jesus died on the cross and shed His precious blood for me and for all sinners. There are false teacher who satisfy the itching ears of their vast congregations and only teach grace. We all know who they are. But Paul Washer seems to be on the opposite side of the spectrum. I don't think I have ever heard him teach an encouraging message of love, peace, joy, mercy, and grace. Most of his sermons seem to be a hissing, spitting message about how bad we all are and how if we think we are saved.... well, don't fool yourself. If you do THIS, you are not saved. If you don't do THAT, you are not saved. Wait a minute. Isn't that wandering dangerously close to a works based salvation? Our walk with God is not a sprint, where we are saved and are instantly perfect. It is a marathon of rocky roads, steep hills, and narrow paths. We will inevitably slip and fall along the way. But Jesus is there to help us to our feet again. At times, we become weary, and Jesus whispers soft words of encouragement to continue on a path of righteousness. Do we expect a baby to feed on a steak the minute it is born? Of course not. It feeds on milk and is gradually introduced to solid foods. It is the same with a Christian. We learn and grow as we journey with Christ. Sometimes, we learn hard lessons. Sometimes, God lovingly chides and disciplines us. The point is, we will never be perfect while in these sinful, decaying bodies. We will never be perfect while inhabiting this fallen sinful world. Yet somehow, Washer seems to teach that if we don't achieve perfection, we are not saved at all. I think that kind of Puritan, legalistic doctrine is as dangerous as the 'best life now, name it and claim it,' doctrine. Too much grace and mercy, without repentance, is dangerous. So is a doctrine that leaves out the teaching of hope, grace, and mercy.

      Everyday the gospel
The gospel: freedom from the works of the law. Watchman Nee
The law requires man to work for God.
“If we work for God sin shall rule over us. The wages of our works is having sin rule over us. The wages of sin is death. The law condemns our works. But if God works for us. Sin shall not have dominion over us. Under law we work. Under grace God works. Whatever requires effort on our part is not victory. Victory comes freely to us.”
Do not try, but yield/die. Do not strain but rest.
Do not fancy to think you can change yourself to make you a little better. Even after 50 years you will still be the same. Victory/salvation/sanctification/glorification is Christ living in and for us.
“Thank God I cannot; but Christ can”.
Do not be afraid of men’s worst temper or greatest pride. Only be fearful that men do not see Christ’s ability. As well as their own inability.
It is good to thank God for the victory but also our weakness. For the power of Christ is made perfect in our weakness.
“I thank God that _____is most corrupt. I thanks him once again that Christ manifests his power in me. I confess I have neither goodness,or holiness, or righteousness or patience. But I thank and praise you that I have not and will not. Hereafter Oh God I commit my all to you. From now on it is your son who overcomes for me.”
We must cease all efforts to please God or overcome ourselves. The 2 conditions for victory.
1)yielding/repenting: Negative side. We cease from the flesh and self efforts. “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.”
2)believing: positive side. I believe He lives in me and for me. And I believe he loves me and gave himself for me. And gives himself to me. Believe in Gods facts.

Paul Washer said "There's no such thing as a carnal Christian"
Paul the apostle says "But I am carnal, sold under sin" (Romans 7:14) and "And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal [...] For ye are yet carnal... (1 Corinthians 3:1, 3)

I don’t even think the Bible says we go to Hell for not believing. Says the demons/wrath of God abide on us for our sins. Many folks in history never learned of a Christ to reject and will be judged differently. I’ve never cursed anyone to Hell that I know of. But many pastors do.
Hell/judgement/fire is this life too. As King David wrote. As Jonah. Many references. Even us Christians fall into Gods judgement for our sins in this life so we don’t be judged with the world.

I don’t think you understand Jesus, at all. Temptation is normal, spiritual growth is necessary, but it’s not required. Your heart is what matters, your lips deceive you. Yes, demons believe, but demons aren’t offered salvation. We are offered it. The reason you don’t understand it, and why you can’t see it, is because you think there’s more to it. This is a massive problem in the West. We believe we MUST do more. Yet, we can’t. How can a man or woman of flesh and sin possibly make it into heaven? Is it not through grace and salvation from Christ? The believing on Jesus?

Suggesting that the act of 'believing' itself is 'salvific' can quickly confuse someone facing a Calvinist argument. that concept is the root of their accusation to non-Calvinist believers. I.e., "you saved yourself". Calvinism is slippery, and they have their arguments polished well. They learn them the same way they became convinced of them and they repeat them to others who are unprepared to see through the fog. @@larryhoward-pl1pe Actually, I think it's safe to stick with what Paul says in Eph.2, that we are saved by grace, through faith. His reference to 'not of works' aligns with his constant comparison of the Jewish works of het law vs. the simple faith of Abraham, by which righteousness is obtained. God has graciously promised to save whosoever will believe. And he can be trusted to honor his word. Calvinists contradict Paul by saying 'Faith' is a 'Work'.
Calvinists trust him to save 'his elect' ... they just can not know whose these lucky nameless, faceless people are. They hope their on the list, but never know for certain if they're loved by God or not.
The attempt by Calvinists to make "it" refer to 'faith' as the gift in Eph.2:8 with the intent to maintain their false premise of inherent Total Inability and that all men lack faith or the ability to believe doesn't work grammatically. Because the Greek is neutral and is not definitive that faith is the gift apart from the subject which is salvation. At best, that argument is 50/50 and as broad as it is long, certainly nothing on which to build that doctrine. Paul is talking about how salvation is obtained, not faith.
When they make faith a singular gift given only to some in Calvinism the only way to explain those who later abandon their profession of faith within their doctrine is the claim that God determined their apostasy as well as the faith they later renounced. Calvin called it Evanescent Grace. A temporary faith given to some and later taken away, that their punishment be even greater. And if he does that to some, no one can know who's next... may be the man in the mirror. Consequently, Calvinists worship a God who cannot be trusted to love anyone, personally.

The method of evangelism differs from person to person in Calvinism, contingent upon the evangelist's judgment of the sinner. Typically, those who are heartbroken receive assurance from the evangelist, while those who believe they are saved are confronted with words that cast doubt on their salvation when the evangelist believes them to be "false Christians".
This is the usual approach, which is bad in itself. But for some reason, Washer believed that this desperate woman needed to hear these heartless words to force her to take the steps he thought necessary to save her. Reprehensible.

The apostle Paul didn’t do to the Philippian jailer what Paul Washer did to that girl.
“It didn’t do any good?” All he needed to do is give her the word on this. Romans 10:9 to 13. That would have settled it.
Mr. Washer likes putting people into fear. This is not evangelism for the lost, this is bullying for the saved.
Ever notice that when Mr. Washer talks about people deceiving themselves into believing they are saved that he never includes himself? If any can be deceived than he can too. It’s as if he thinks he has the magic key to salvation. It’s fear.
With Jim Bakker the world is always coming to and end. You need his $2000.00 judgment of God survival package. Creflo Dollar once said that people are in hell because they didn’t tithes. (like to know how he knows that). But that’s putting people into fear to send him money.
So if Mr. Washer can scare people into thinking they are not saved, then he has his platform, you have to come to him.

In a way it's a gnostic gospel. They teach that you can't be saved by believing. You have to "know" God in a certain special way. In this case you have to "feel" a certain way but also he adds works to that as well. I notice in all his sermons he puts on this facade of despair. It's like he's trying to prove he's saved by showing how he feels. I don't know... that's just how it comes off to me. I don't hate Paul Washer or anything. I just think he is hurting a lot of people with his teaching.

Does Paul the apostle not teach that you must know that you are saved??? Does Apostle Paul not tell the church to examine to test themselves to make sure that they are in the faith???? Why does John give us a list of tests to make sure that we can know we have everlasting life??? Why does the apostle Paul warn that we may believe in VAIN???? Why does James say that people SAY they believe but their actions don't show it and THAT EVEN DEMONS BELIEVE. He asks he question: CAN SUCH A FAITH SAVE????? The Bible does not stop at BELIEVE and you will be saved it has a LOT more to say. My advice to you is the same as Apostle Paul and Paul Washer...TEST YOUR SELF EXAMINE YOURSELF...make sure you ARE NOT BELIEVING in vain. Are you still repenting everyday or did you stop when you said you believed??? God bless

Paul Washer said in a video "God does not love sinners". Which is INSANE. The Bible literally says God comendeth His LOVE toward us in that while we were yet SINNERS, Christ died for us.
If he truly believes the Gospel, as he seems to, then He needs to ask The Lord for forgiveness for all the destruction he's caused and apologize profusely to the flock he has misled for so many years.
In the spirit of Paul Washer: "Where is your repentance?"
Wasn't it you who said that true faith is preceded and followed by repentance?
As Jesus said: "And he saith unto him, Out of thine own mouth will I judge thee, thou wicked servant. Thou knewest that I was an austere man, taking up that I laid not down, and reaping that I did not sow:"
There is a reason that Jesus told us not to judge. I hope he repents. :/ And I hope The Lord will help me to love and forgive him as I ought.
Please bless Paul Lord. Have mercy on him.

Instead everything starts to revolve around the doctrine of election where instead of faith receiving the grace and forgiveness offered for ME in the gospel everything starts to revolve around marks of the election which is genuine faith genuine conversion genuine life. Everything becomes subjective based on experience just like the Charismatic movement they like to critique because of that.

I find it strange when people are against the Sinners' prayer because from my youth and upwards reading the word, Jesus the Messiah told the parable of the Publican and the Sinner- in which the Taz collector would not lift his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast and said to God, " I am a sinner, unworthy" or something of that nature, and was seeking the forgiveness of God in PRAYER- in his heart.
And Jesus said that this man got to heaven before the Self-Rightoues Pharisee, who would say that he was thankful to God that he was not a sinner like this other man and all his tithing of mint, and cumin and 10% tithe was on point.
And Jesus REJECTED that prayer- of that motivation! But Jesus REPRESENTED and accepted the Heartfelt need OF THE sinner TO FIND {grace} with GOD at the point of humility and total spiritual bankruptcy. So prayer is not a problem per se'. But Jesus also said that REBIRTH was needed to even see the kingdom of GOD and Peter and John also gave us more life to go on and this Calvinsist preachers and others do not teach rebirth of the spirit and indwelling of the Holy Spirit and its finality and perfect part of God's plan,

Faith in Jesus Christ is what saves. Can this be done THROUGH the avenue of prayer? Yes. Is it required? No. I don’t have to pray to believe something new. The rebirth is given upon the moment of belief. Cf John 3:3-16, Eph. 1:12-14.

I think some people are not so much against the " Sinners Prayer " alone , it's when people live a sinful life after saying the " sinners prayer " , and think they are only going to heaven because they said that prayer 10 , 20 , or 30 years earlier , but haven't shown any fruit of salvation , a strong prayer life , dilligently studying the Word , avoiding lustful acts , witnessing , fellowshipping with other believers , not constantly lieing , theft , etc , etc ,.. Their lives are really no different than before being saved . Maybe that verse teaches that being honest with God , realizing you fall short on a daily basis before a Holy God , and as you said , being in a state of " total spiritual bankruptcy " is the way to approach God , and not as the self-righteous Pharisee who apparantly thought his tithing had a part in making him acceptable to God . Anyway , I thought that would be one way to look at the " sinners prayer " . This is not an invitation for argument , but , I have heard Calvinists teach " indwelling of the Holy Sprit " and it having finality many times , and i'm not a Calvinist at all . I enjoyed reading your comment , and decided I would give a few thoughts of my own . May God bless and keep you safe

@@natureboy2396 i take it you found some videos about this?? I hope you don't mind me giving you some biblical guidance. Firstly Jesus we need to understand that the word baptism means to dip or immerse. there is more than one use of the this word ie not every time the word is used does it refer to WATER BAPTISM. It has multiple meanings. example the Israelites were baptized into Moses and the cloud - this clearly has nothing to do with baptism as we understand it but more with a spiritual immersion. Same with Jesus's baptism of the holy spirit. Do yourself a favor and search the word and see what they mean in each context. Secondly note that jesus ordered his disciples NOT to go the the gentiles or Samaritans as per his own words, He came only for the house of Judah. When he gave them instruction to go and make disciples of all nations and baptizing them in the name of the father son and holy spirit, they ONLY GO TO JEWS??? Why?? Did they understand He meant gentiles as well?? Or did he still not mean gentiles??? Read the book of Acts for yourself. if they understood His sending them to include gentiles, then why did He have to convince Peter with a dream??? Why did Peter resist at first?? Why did the other apostles question peter when they heard that he went to a gentile??? Why do god save the gentiles when they believed in their heart...He gave them the holy Spirit before they were baptized. Why did Peter say that he only at that time remembered Jesus's promise of HIS baptism of the Holy Spirit??? Last point: Paul was the appointed apostle to the jews and in Galatians he makes a stunning statement. he admits to only baptizing a few people! The ones he mentions are all jews as paul always fist went to the Jews and then to the gentiles. he also says that Christ DID NOT send him to baptize but to preach the GOSPEL. SO he did not get the same marching orders from Christ as Peter and the others did. i think that's clear. Conclusion: If the Gospel saves and Paul says that Christ did not send him to BAPTIZE BUT TO PREACH the Gospel then how can the BAPTISM SAVE???? Its clearly not art of the SAVING gospel. Anyway I hope this gives you some guidance. Videos are great but its better to study the word of God so that you can understand it yourself. God Bless

Ok, I have to ask you seriously? You say you don't believe in a "sinner's prayer"? So how are you interpreting Romans 10:13 and other places where it says, "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." It gives clear instruction that "How shall they call upon him in whom they have not believed." I can only interpret this as a synonym for confessing with the mouth of what you have already believed in the heart but doing so in prayer directly to God, not me or you. How can you call upon the Lord and not pray? Talking to God in any way, shape, or form is prayer EVEN IF it's in your head as I can prove from the Bible very clearly. I do not believe prayer is the deciding factor in salvation, but I personally called on the Lord. I was shown the clear gospel, unadulterated or confused, from Isaiah 53 one week before I got saved and was brought under the deep conviction that I was lost and needed salvation as well as the fact that Isaiah 53 was speaking of Jesus Christ who suffered and died for my sins. When I actually got saved, I went forward in a small, newly started Baptist church meeting in a grade school cafeteria. The same man took the Romans Road plan and showed me the main points and I affirmed I believed each point. He asked me if I wanted to pray and trust Christ as my Savior and by this time I was READY. He led me in a phrase-by-phrase prayer that affirmed the gospel. While I was praying that prayer I KNOW God forgave me and I was instantly born again. I had powerful assurance that I was on my way to heaven. I believed DURING that prayer. No questions about it. I went down on my knees lost and rose to my feet born again and believe me, I KNEW it. That was on April 3, 1977, and I remember like it was yesterday.
Joel 2:32 "And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be delivered" is quoted in Acts 2:21 " And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved." and again in Romans 10:13 " For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. 14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? " If this isn't a prayer for salvation AFTER hearing the gospel and already believing it in the heart I don't know what it is." I know that the deciding factor of salvation is faith in the gospel of grace message, but if a person has heard the message, and affirms that they believe it, I see no reason for them not to call on the Lord. Most of these people have never prayed a prayer in their entire lives as I hadn't before that day. I see no reason to cancel out a "sinner's prayer" as long as the gospel has been clearly presented. It is IMPOSSIBLE to guarantee that every person who says they believe in Christ will actually believe. Jesus didn't say that and neither should we. Would I have come to faith if I hadn't prayed? I honestly don't think so and I would be in hell awaiting the Great White Throne right now. I was sure well on my way there. If Luke 18:13 is not a sinner's prayer I don't know what is. " And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner." According to Jesus, this man went home justified while the self-righteous Pharisee who thanked God he wasn't as other men are did not. It was a simple heart-felt prayer that got the publican justified according to Jesus.

      Hey there,
      Thanks for the comment.
The point of the video, along with many of our other videos, is to point out that it is faith in Christ that saves, justifies, seals and secures the individual into eternal life.
Prayer is totally fine, and it is often used with regard to someone trusting in Christ. Nonetheless, as I think you stated, it is not the prayer itself that does the saving. It is the fact that you believe the truth of Jesus Christ. By the time you speak it or pray it, you have already believed it. Salvation is that simple.
We are justified by faith (Romans 3-5), and Roman’s 10 doesn’t go and add to or change that understanding. The confession is acknowledgment that Jesus is the Christ. You believe that He is the Christ who died and rose again, and you receive eternal life.
We have a 3 part series on Romans 10:9-13.

Hi Jesse, one thing you said really stood out to me. Paul washer said the phrase (true Christian). Your response was what does that mean? I’ve listened to him a lot through the years. I’m about 99% sure he means a born again believer.John3:3. In my opinion, we need to get away from this word (Christian). It’s too confusing to too many people. 80 to 90% of Americans claim the title of Christian. And most of those people really believe that they’re going to heaven. But most of them will spend eternity in hell. I heard a survey one time that said 7 to 8% of Americans claimed to be born again believers. If this is true or anywhere near true? relatively few people will be going to heaven.

Yes, I agree with you. The problem with Washer is his backloaded gospel presentation. He use words such as “truly, genuine, really… “ saved or believer as though believers are qualified between a fake faith and a real faith. Faith is faith. It is simply believing in Christ.

I believe it’s more than believing the facts about Jesus such as DBR.. the miracles He did was to get us to believe Him for what he promises, you must believe his promise to be born again, Which is (John 3:16,4:14,5:24,6:40,6:47,11:25-27,12:50)
Just like Abraham believed in the Lord for the promise and it was accounted to him for righteousness, we too must believe in the Lord for the promise to be accredited righteousness.
Romans 4:20-22 (NKJV) 20 He did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God, 21 and being fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to perform. 22 And therefore “it was accounted to him for righteousness.”

@bibleline I explained in another post of yours how my husband Israel is struggling with attack bc of coming into Washer and Calvinism. He is Cuban and so doesn’t at all understand the history of the church - who Calvin is - etc etc so he is really in a vulnerable place of not knowing what he doesn’t know. He also only speaks Spanish right now so washer has a lot in Spanish! Can I ask ur organization and church to pray for us and do you have ANY biblical Spanish resources I can point my husband to?
This is so utterly confusing for me but my husband has regressed to addictions and mental illness that he was freed from in his initial touch from Christ.
For me Washer is so indicative of the enemy bc he uses his knowledge of the gospel to deceive and misguide. The devil knows the Bible more than any - no? The proof is in the fruit - the fruits of the enemy in genesis was punishment from god and a disconnection - am with washer
My husband has become MORE DISCONNECTED FROM GOD since finding washer and others like him.

There's nothing wrong with the sinner's prayer and it is biblical. A sinner asking Christ for salvation is the same as the publican asking God for mercy, or the thief on the cross asking Christ to remember him, or the Samaritan woman asking for the living water. It is the acceptance of the free gift.
If this woman had already asked for salvation then what she needed to be told is that she has already been saved. She was saved the first time she asked.

Just to inform you correctly about Calvinism (I am a Calvinist), Washer's works-based teachings are the antithesis of Calvinism. So just because Washer says he's a Calvinist, this doesn't mean everything he says is Calvinistic.
Works-based doctrines are actually Arminian, not Calvinist. So Washer is actually preaching as an Arminian in this clip.

  • @minecraftboss419

Strawman argument. “Tragic what if” lol. You either believe in God is as most “ professing” Christians as omnipotent and sovereign. Or you don’t! As a labeled “Calvinist” ( I’ve never read a single book outside of scripture supporting Calvin) the scripture is quite clear that God is both Omnipotent and Sovereign even over salvation. It has been established before the foundation of the world ALL that will belong to the Son (his bride).
I agree Washer is harsh but you can’t argue against a single point he makes. Sometimes a good spiritual foot across one’s backside is needed. Paul ( the Apostle) was harsh with the church’s when he wrote to some. In Revalation Christ is harsh with the church as well. It’s not always puppy dogs and roses people in scripture. The Armenian view of salvation is heretical “self” guided humanism. Where as true Christian faith is Monergistic what God begins he finishes.

    Sinner's prayer testimonies
One man asked me if I remembered him?
He said he had prayed to receive JESUS months ago and something happened. His life had changed.
One young man said a Sinner's prayer when drunk, went to jail shortly after. In jail he thought about the prayer and had his mother bring him a Bible. He is now attending church with his daughter. One man was confused about his X Y chromosomes. He prayed and the confusion ended. Friends of one lady who prayed said: She has been so happy since you prayed with her. JESUS said As the FATHER sent ME, so I send you (to seek and save the lost)
    Rescue those heading towards destruction.
John 1:12 As many as received JESUS, to them HE gave the POWER to be children of GOD.
Ephesians 3:17 That CHRIST may dwell in your heart through Faith.
If any Preacher says you can not lead people to CHRIST he is a cowardice producing pharasee.

What's tragic is the eternal distance of the diffetence of 12"-14" inches between a false converts head knowledge about Jesus Christ and a truly implanted new heart in the new birth gifted by Gods grace alone.
Mans faith saves zero sinners. Only Christs faith saves, and that Faith is gifted to the elect sons of God at the moment of their regeneration.
Many elect start out worshippers of their imaginary autonomous free will in their false conversion, so.. don't be too discouraged you false converts, just seek fruit you've been made a utterly new creature in Christ abd being MADE conformed more into His image. Great video, BUT 7:34 Don't 'Amen' Washer on this. He's saying the right words, but does not believe it is available to 'whosoever', but rather only those chosen before the world was created and no one else. He's using a different dictionary and intentionally misleading people about it. He will still deny what you believe these words mean when examined. Washer doesn't even know if he's truly loved or just experiencing Evanescent Grace, just like many recent de-converts, even those in leadership, who now deny their previous confession of faith in Christ and have left the Calvinist movement.
Interesting but very sad story. In June of 2001, during his message at a Ligonier’s Conference in Orlando, Fla., the late Dr. R. C. Sproul indicated that Dr. James Boice, a scheduled speaker at the conference, was dying that very night. Then at the end of the message he asked all 5,000 present to pray that Jim "dies in faith".
Dr. Boyce was his friend, considered a great pastor, theologian, teacher, and author, yet Dr. Sproul was not sure that he was regenerate. Dr. Boyce did die that night. They all hoped he persevered ... but they cannot know if that was God's "gift" to him or not. No one can ever know on this side of the Grassy Knoll.
The real irony lies in their 'prayer' that Dr. Boyce would truly be saved. According to "U"nconditional Election... God either loved him 'salvifically' or he hated him before he was born, just like their example of Esau. And literally nothing could ever be done to change his eternal decree. Besides, if God hated him, why would they run the risk of 'loving' him?... They just don't know, and are taught to believe they cannot know.
But, most won't admit it, even to themselves. It is said that Dr. Sproul even wondered out loud near is own death if he had done 'enough'.
Regardless of their claims to the contrary, Calvinists can have no real personal assurance of theirs, or anyone's, salvation. They're only whistling past the grave yard and hoping for the best, because they believe they're either 'picked' or they'll bust Hell wide open without a prayer.... literally. I have no doubt Sproul or Washer, et al, and other Calvinists confessing Christ are saved. But their own doctrine does not afford them this same confidence. That's why it's so evil. It can rob a true believer of any confidence they are truly loved by God.... Satan really likes doing that.
Desperate for 'evidence' of salvation, they cling to their 'works' as pieces of a broken shipwreck at sea, it's all they have.
