This works! 3 years ago I had an incident where I was left with herniated discs and a navel hernia. I had a lot of pain and tingling and numbness in my legs and feet. I wore a back brace 24 hours a day and could barely function. I had accepted the fact that I would live the rest of my life in pain and never be able to do all the things I wanted to do. About a year ago I started working out. It was really hard at first and sometimes it took a week to recover between workouts. But I stuck to it. About a month after I started I did not have to sleep with the back brace anymore and the tingling and numbness was gone. Shortly after that I only wore the backbrace during workouts. About 2 months ago I did not have to wear the backbrace during workouts any more. About a month ago I realized that the pain was gone! Like completely gone! I wanted to get healthier but I had no idea that it would actually heal me. And my hernia is almost completely gone too. Strengthening my core and building muscle was the key. I bet I will be less likely to reinjure myself in the future now that I have a good layer of muscle to protect myself. This is awesome! By the way 47 yo.

Love your videos. Just want to point out that the breathing exercise you refer to at the start comes from Yoga. It's called 'Kapalabhati' in Sanskrit which means Skull (kapala) & to shine (bhati) or skull shining breath since it leads to improved circulation, blood pressure and draws a lot of heat into the body. It's a std yoga breathing/warm up exercise. People interested in this should research the other yogic breathing exercises they could do easily at home to reduce their weight, BP etc.
Actually, Doc, when you're planking, tuck the chin in and push up with your shoulders, too for full range of motion work and it improves some vital chest muscles. Thanks for all you have done for me.
As for the abdominals, I've found the rope pulldown tricep extension works best. If you maintain the posture, you can feel it where it counts in the abs, in addition to the triceps.
Thank u so much for ur vids so far doc!!! U explain it very simply and its easy to take it on board.i will do it everyday to get rid of my belly. Much love 😍

Planks are no good if you have any lower back issues. I can do them, I just can't walk afterward. Hollow body holds with a well rounded lower back & forward tilted pelvis works better.
@@lucaspukas7757 Depends on what your back and abs are like. I have lower back issues and have to take it easy. Started with a thing they do in Pilates. On your back with legs in the air reach up with both arms and legs like a cat stretching it's back upside down. When you can hold that for a while keep your lower back rounded but allow your legs to extend some. Eventually you want to be able to hold your legs a few inches from the ground while reaching back with your hands with only your but on the ground. At the moment i'm at a point where I can crunch with my feet maybe a foot from the ground and my body at about a 45-60 degree angle from the ground balanced on my but under constant tension.
While I am pressing in on my belly should I be exhaling/inhaling or its doesn't make a difference? Thanks in advance and thanks for the amazing channel.
I'm going to give this a try. I have terrrible acid reflux and can only get three to four hours sleep at a time. I suspect it is because I have a weak core and this may have something to do with my lower oesophagal sphincter not closing properly and allowing the acid to come up when I lay down for sleep. I'm determined not to go down the route of H2 blockers and PPI's. Anyhow this exercise can only be good for me regardless of the affect on my acid reflux.
I cut starchy carbs, sugar, Google baking soda and bragg's vinegar. Didn't want to take prescriptions bc of side effects doing great I had silent reflux effects the voice.
Thank you for always helping, You're awesome. I have been scanning the internet trying to find an abdominal exercise and here you are, as always. Thank you. I love you THIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIISSSSSS BIG 💚
Been doing this for 6 years now... Excellent!! I didn’t go to gym just at home yet have 4 abs by these exercises

Thanks so much for this. This is so helpful for me. I am 16 weeks into healing from T 12 , L1 and transverse sacrum fracture. My core is so weak and sit ups will never again be an option. Still not able to do planks but I'll get there. The first one I can manage and it feels helpful already. Thanks again
I watched your videos. Your videos are very vseful. May Allah Almighty bless you.
I absolutely love your quotes.
1 year from now? I am 75 and my SON of 31,3months lost my life after 1 month in the hospital and wanted me to DNR him because they wanted to cover their SINS.
I can't stop crying every morning. At my age I don't think it is hormones.
I KNOW MY SON IS IN A BETTER PLACE.
I am not
My first born, my sunshine was also murdered my a hospital. Now my grandaughter is expecting. How do I keep living when I want to die?
you, sir, are extraordinary!
That 1st exercise is awesome doc. Can do it anywhere. Thanks
You are one of my favorite doctors. And because you say God bless makes me trust you even more. God bless and thank you for everything you teach us ❤️
Thank you! Just did this 8 times. I can already feel it. Can't wait to do more tomorrow! 10 seconds, 8 times...tomorrow 9 times!!
Best plank pose/line I've ever seen done (without a mirror, even)! Thanks Dr. Mandell!
What about the idea that you need to have a low body fat percentage to get the abs to be visible?
Actually, Doc, when you're planking, tuck the chin in and push up with your shoulders, too for full range of motion work and it improves some vital chest muscles.
Thanks for all you have done for me.
Thanks mate
Great helpful tips on a great range of health and fitness
Good one 👍
Will this help my turkey neck too? I am now 62 years old! Thank you very much I watch your youtube all of the time! God bless you my god friend
You got a new subscriber doc. Love from India 🙏🙏🙏 . Thanks for such a good video.
I had no idea!! Beginning to work on this now for my herniated low back!
Thank you! I will be trying this ! God Bless!
Much love 😍

Lost 20 pounds now I have lose skin on my stomach. I hope doing these exercises will help.
Seems like a really nice guy. If only more coaches were like him. I guess he's a life coach.
I’m going to practice on my transverse abs
Planks it is. Doing it every day it and it helps. It's also motivating bc you feel those muscles in your back, waist and stomach while planking.
Great info Doc Mandell.
Have a good night my friend. Thanks
motivationaldoc the core and lower back are essential for sexual activity, will this take place of lower back exercises such as dead lifts?
Planks are no good if you have any lower back issues. I can do them, I just can't walk afterward. Hollow body holds with a well rounded lower back & forward tilted pelvis works better.
Glen Risk how do u do a hollow body hold?
Excellent. My naturist doctor applied to me. It's worked.
Man Doc i recently see this videos and incorporated in the routine and works wonders.
I'm doing it and its helping me to reduce my belly fat day by day. Thankyou so much
Lord have Mercy Doc ! I was hoping Planks weren't included ..lol No pain No Gain ! Pray for a Girl ! Shalom 💜
I used to do the 1st one every since I was young. it helped my slight stomach pain go away.
Thank you doc . I will def try this. Love and blessings from india
Dr. Alan Mandell, your videos are so effective and motivational that I loose sleep . It’s all good, thank you.
Anyhow this exercise can only be good for me regardless of the affect on my acid reflux.
baywizard You need to eat vegetables and fruits to curb your acid reflux!
I cut starchy carbs, sugar, Google baking soda and bragg's vinegar. Didn't want to take prescriptions bc of side effects doing great I had silent reflux effects the voice.
Did it work?
Hey also try The Gonstead method of chiropractor ING.you will be amazed.
So it works or not with the acidity ??
Dr.Mandell Speak so much sense am definitely going to try this and the face tapping. Keep the great job Dr.
Dr! *You are my best Christmas gift* This is a great way to start 2018. God Bless you Doctor.
Awesome information!!!!!
Tuh, I got the real answers. How about coming over my house for some one on one
is collagen tablets effective or not?
Thank you for always helping, You're awesome. I have been scanning the internet trying to find an abdominal exercise and here you are, as always. Thank you. I love you THIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIISSSSSS BIG 💚
