  • You may not realize how much hidden sugars you are drinking. The effects of added sugar intake commonly causes higher blood pressure, inflammation, weight gain, diabetes, and fatty liver disease which are all linked to an increased risk for heart attack and stroke.

I am a former teacher. I can honestly say that within the last 10 years we have stopped teaching nutrition and home economics (cooking, parenting, child care) classes. These should be mandatory classes just as math, reading, science and social studies. Educate so you don’t have to medicate.

With all due respect, it doesn't matter what they learn in school if they're not having good eating habits as they're growing up at home. Parents should be teaching long life lessons on how to eat.
We have so much information at the tip of our fingertips. In the days that were walking in. I love teachers. God bless them, but we need to get out of the mindset that they know more than parents.
I see teachers putting things in their mouth. They should not be putting in their mouth.
I see health professionals putting things in their mouth. They should not be putting in their mouth.
And I hate to break it to you,
If you look into what it takes to become a physician ,
Since you're bringing schooling into it.
They are not schooled on nutrition whatsoever. Physicians have some of the worst eating habits.
Unlike this one that's given his life to Christ.
And that's Usually what it takes for all of us to start eating correctly.
I always question nutritionist in the hospital on where they learn their nutrition values.
Pick up the Bible, read the book of Leviticus..It's got incredible eating habits for us to follow.
Holy Spirit is the best teacher.

I honestly am not disrespecting teachers. I think they're incredible. Not all of them. There's Good and bad in all professions.
But parents need to stop being lazy and they need to start parenting their children.
This kind of Rubbed me the wrong way because I've been seeing a growing trend of people posting things. What schools need to start doing. How about we start being parents?!!!!!

My father was a teacher and my mother was a chef. It was different times, being that I was born in 1953. We had cake once a week, then my Mom cut it out because her blood sugars were high. She was an insulin diabetic and so was her mother. I’ve always struggled with my weight and I think genetics makes up a huge part of who you will be. If one parent is obese you have a 50%chance of being obese, if both parents are obese you have a 100% chance of being obese. Along with that comes all the problems with obesity. I used to be mad at my Mom for all the goodies she made but it was entirely up to me to not put it in my mouth. By the time I reached 11th grade I had all my classes done but gym. I decided with a guidance counselor that I would take, Home Ec for 2 periods, Family living was another class that filled my day. My super intelligent father who was the head of our language department for the school district died of colon cancer,, because he was stubborn, he didn’t want them to look at his rectum. Not knowing and being stubborn are 2 different things.

You are spot on. Two months ago I was miserable. I had the gut, the achy joints, the inflammation and all the rest.
My labs showed high cholesterol and that I was borderline pre diabetic. I decided I'd have enough.
I quit sugar cold turkey. I went from eating little candy bars, sugary snacks, drinking fruit juices, etc.. to nothing.
I threw out all my sugar, all my snacks, and I must admit, the first couple weeks were a bit rough.
Found myself reaching for the desk drawer where that stuff used to reside and stopped when I remembered it was gone.
I would say it was about 3 weeks in and I lost all cravings.
I eat mostly a Mediterranean diet, lots of salmon, salads, olive oil and cut carbs down to a bare minimum.
My inflammation has gone down a lot, my joints feel younger, I can tighten my belt up two notches past we're I could before
and I feel so much better.
One of the most remarkable things, is that good food, now tastes awesome and the time or two I've tasted junk food, it tasted like garbage.
I'm about to start working out and getting back in shape and it's all because I completely altered the dietary course I had been on for decades.

Thank you again for your effort doc.
My daughter, 14 years old, who has stuffed herself with everything sweet for the last few years (even if it wasn't entirely tasty), picked up all kinds of sweets on December 31, 2023 and ate them.
When I reacted in horror, she told me that I should only give her one more day, because from tomorrow (01/01/2024) she wouldn't even put a crumb in her mouth.
She had come up with a tactic and wanted to carry it out.
    Only eat sweets on birthdays.
She's actually done it so far. We had a birthday in January and last weekend. She ate a piece of cake in January and last weekend.
Her wall calendar is full of crosses because she draws a cross for every successful day.

@Lisa, I am 49 and was diagnosed with AS about 10 years ago. I was also told it was growing pains and that I was being too rough on my body. It was actually an eye doctor who decided to send me for blood work because I kept getting iritis which is an indicator of AS. I have found if I eat sugar, starches and bread my pain levels increase. Which is terrible because I like pizza and cheeseburgers 🤷🏻‍♂️ so if I have a cheat day with pizza and ice cream and all the other stuff, I will follow up with a 5 day water fast, then will either start with keto or strictly carnivore diet. It is a painful and degerative disease but with a good diet, I've been able to reign it in a bit. The doctors still think I should be on Humira but I'm hoping my new diet will change that. Hope this helps a little.

I don't take medicine. I only had 1 major surgery in my life. I asked my doctor if there were food to replace medicine she said know. So I stopped going for my yearly checkup. I'm afraid to change 😂....I share all your videos because they are so helpful.

I do all these things and still have much pain from Fibromyalgia. No sugar in my coffee. I don't drink soft drinks. I don't eat chips, snacks or any of those things.
    Can you help me?
I don't eat pork or sausage. Only chicken, turkey or fish. Eat all my vegetables. I drink water 💦 all the day long. I don't smoke or do drugs. I may have 1 cup of coffee 2 times a week, maybe. So could you help? Oh I don't drink beer either because I also have osteoarthritis and I thought 1 beer wouldn't hurt; oh but I was wrong. It hurts my knees. (I'm supposed to have knee surgery on my right knee) but a lot of people tell me that I shouldn't have the knee replacement because I will be worse off 😪. I watch most of ur videos. I trust you and I don't trust easily.
I am also taking 1 tablespoon of olive oil every day. I'm on my 2nd week and I have a tiny bit of more energy. A little.

Hello Dr. Mandell. I am a big fan of yours. I always look forward to whatever topic you share with us. The #1 lesson was to cut sugar intake as much as possible
I did that and I lost 40 pounds very quickly(in about 3 months). I remember years ago reading a book called Fot for Life by Dr
Diamond. I tried the healthy diet plan of not combining certain foods for better digestion. I also remember a true statement. You must eat more live food like fresh fruit and vegetables and less cooked food in order to get the nutrients your body needs. Eat large salad with a variety. Drink distilled water and consume 6 to 8 glasses a day. There were things he wrote . only your mother's breast milk is healthy to drink, not to eat eggs,, and a few more. I don 't remember which caused his book to be baned. I went off of this plan but now at being almost 80 years old,, realize that many things are true. Especially about eating more live food than dead(cooked). Your readers, like me, need you as our guide to improve our quality of life. We must open our eyes to see the dangers of going food shopping and not paying attention to what the ingredients are in almost everything that is on the shelves. Try to choose more organic food, fruit and veggies.. We sincerely thank you for all the videos you've done for us.. May God please bless you and to please continue to motivate us to become aware of our food intake and to improve our health. Amen.

I think we all have heard quite the number of ideas on what is wrong with our eating habits in the western world. Top much fat, Too much sugar, protein, not enough fibre, not enough different Food types etc. etc. etc.. Of you look at it through a historic lense, what jumps at you is that we dont eat more fatty foods or More protein. The only that drastically changed is the sugar we eat. Because it is added almost to anything we eat anywhere. Not fat, not protein, SUGAR.

So I've changed things up drastically, including giving up my morning ghee butter & black coffee routine, and sticking with veggies & some lesser sweet fruit choices, egg whites, & green salads with vinegar & olive oil.
I get in tons of walking on the weekends at my job, but I may have to start getting an exercise routine going during my days off.

I have been a type one juvenile diabetic since I was 8. I’m 33 now. My entire life, I have been told by doctors “you want that? Just take more insulin.” I learned from a very young age that it was all a scam. Yes, I am still and will always be insulin dependent, because unlike type 2, I don’t just have a damaged pancreas, it’s completely dead.
However, through eating WHOLE foods (including high carb foods like whole fruits), drinking multiple teas each day and cutting out all dairy, I decreased the amount of my insulin from almost 200 units per day (that was what all of my doctors had prescribed) to less than 20 units per day. I also reversed my diabetic retinopathy, neuropathy, and endometriosis.
I know that I will always needs insulin injections to survive, but literally just eating correctly and moving your body is the most essential part of living.

I’ve Done my due diligence With following things in the manner in which you have administered to us in your videos. I tried backing off on sugar, at least to a third of what I used to put in my coffee. I’ve even started to drink my coffee black. I’m drinking green tea with turmeric. I am drinking lemon water now which I keep in a jug in my fridge. I’ve gone as far as even using The Britta filtered water from the jug to put into the jug. I have sliced and squeeze lemon into. I’m hoping that that would even take it a step further, as opposed to just using tap water. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate the information that you are putting out to us. Information we wouldn’t normally hear from our own GPs, or the health sector. Thanks so much for your efforts and do diligence with all the information you provide.

Thanks Doc. I'm getting better at reducing my sugar intake. And I'm a firm believer in gradual reductions if you can do it. When I was trying to quit smoking I tried to do it gradually. In the end I did do cold turkey. That was in 2013. So, yep, it can be done. Liked your intro.

Hi Dr. Mandell, well you painted my picture exactly, borderline diabetic, lot of indicators no medications taken. I started about a week ago on your Hibiscus drink and the terrible inflammation I had has gone from 100 to 4. Listening to you today, naturally what I am doing is not enough.
I use to take an appetite suppressant to cut my mental wanting to chomp on something, it worked the way I needed it to. Hearing you talk about the sweet drinks hits the bullseye on me. If I stop and just drink water, it is like a drug addict, get me some soda is the message I get, and I don't want to be strong enough to fight, because I do want it.
But, your talk today can help me a lot. I have the diabetic itch, in which I rupture the surface of my skin, it was very bad a time ago, but today I am rupturing the skin surface enough to cause small scabbing, So I have to get a handle on this. I was going to contact you and and say thanks but, I thought I would listen to you today and you have given me a chance to get my life back.
I have feet that fill with blood, it is called Edema, when it's water, when it is blood I don't know what it's called. There is no help, for me. I have done some medical research and I understand the nature of my condition and the changes I have made based on that research have helped, but nothing in the world beats a doctor that knows what he is talking about like you.
Suppressing the appetite, and sugar cravings, will suppress all sweet pangs, I can be more disciplined since I heard your talk today. thank you Dr. Mandell for doing what you do, you are very appreciated.

My pancreas exploded and put me in the hospital for 50 days. I almost died Ima pretty strong man and lost over 40 lbs muscle, fat . This was a kick in the head for me and I'm trying to come back. After 2 yrs it's starting to feel better again. Tuff time

      @@Barnfind.
I did a quick research on exploding pancreas. I don't have a good picture, because no age, no pre-determinative cause, what exactly the treatment was, and whether you still have a pancreas. So, the research just help know what the body part is you are talking about, the general anomalies that can happen, and when is explodes, then what.
As you say very serious, although it is said to be something pf a rare occurrence. Its function is very important, but, you can live without it, but you'd need special medical treatment to replace those functions lost if the pancreas no longer functions or is removed, nothing I saw mentioned fatality, though naturally without proper treatment I understand it can swell an affect other organs in the abdominal area.
I am glad to hear you are recovering will after the ordeal, and I want to thank you because I got to reread my letter, and know how I have backslid. That happen when you feel good for a while, you think nothing is wrong or can go wrong.
I broke down and bought some of those Nuubu pads. Oriental medicine through the soles of your feet. Well, it is amazing. I had edema really bad. The first night I woke up to like 75% reduction. I could not believe it. It began knocking down the blisters in the ankle area and has made my leg look near normal. Would I recommend Nuubu ? I would. I'm still using them in combination with a foot spa when I remove the pads in the morning.
You're supposed to use them on each foot, at bedtime. The entire edema is down to about 10% and the amazing part is, it used to swell up after I ate, so I think it has done so healing of the affected veins. I have a doctor’s natural formula of bananas, limes, and pineapples along with my supplements, pretty near every morning and I hope to be able to walk a good distance soon.
It is hard to do the right thing for your body to stay healthy when you like to eat tasty foods, but you have to have that discipline especially when you get up in age. You just can't do everything like you did when you were young including eat all the good foods you like that have cause damage to your body. Like me, I’m a pre-diabetic, the source of my problems.
I don’t take needles or medication, but what happened was I was getting diabetic signals that caused me a lot of distress. I research and knocked a few of the symptoms down, some like the edema, are problematic.
There several types of edemas, it matter treatment wise, how are you going to attack the problem. I couldn't do anything because, I could not get good information until AI came out. Then I was able to see, and I got lucky I heard the doctor on the internet talk about a natural formula for treatment of edema and I tried it and it worked. The only problem was, I would drain overnight, and begin swelling as I ate and drank during the day.
Things are better now, but more work to do to get well. Thanks again for your email it helps a lot. Get well and get healthy.

Great video! Thank you Dr Mandell for the guidance on this topic. This is a life changer for many of us. I'm in my late 40's and just left my doctor. My recent blood work showed pre-diabetic conditions. The only sugars that i take in via diet are fruit juice drinks and i drink a lot of them. I'm 5'9" and spent most of my youth at 165 lbs. I'm now 188 and almost all of it went to abdomen area. I no longer have a six pack stomach and feel like i don't want to do much from an energy perspective.
As of today i reduced my fruit juice to one drink a day and replacing it with just water. My goal is one month from now reducing to only water. My meals have been good as i eat a lot of salmon, fruits, nuts, berries, olive oil, etc.
I'll post results in a few months. Thanks again for the guidance to us out here!

Is he talking just about store bought fruit juice? Or fresh juiced organic also???

    • @user-kp7gb4hs8q
      @user-kp7gb4hs8q ปีที่แล้ว +2

@@roboliver8872puts better to eat the fruit than drink a juice, organic or not
The juice has none of the fiber that the fruit has
The juice, natural and unatural sugars hits the stomach all at once and increases stress on the body and creates cortisol.
If you want to sip two oz of juice with food, it may buffer the sugar because when we eat, cortisol is released anyways and the food you're eating hopefully has fiber in it to slow down the hit of juice to your tummy😎🤙
