John is....Possibly the most down to earth Joker I've seen yet! If this version of Joker makes an appearance in the animated movies, that would be pretty cool actually.
I might give that credit to every important character in Telltale series. Good or evil, they are all human, just like Batman himself. And, that does make me feel sorry for almost every villain in this series.

same can be said for some artists trying to make a character and realizes they're very similar to another's character, because it was inspired by said character.

He could murder an entire building of people and I would probably be like " O_O ...... They all just tripped.. On knives.. And bullets. YEP. THAT'S WHAT HAPPENED. MOVING ALONG NOW." I know that's beyond horrible but I can't help it, he's an immensely likable character.
@Quiston Lowery yeah if he really did start out this way everything Batman does to avoid killing him would make so much more sense because under all the insanity he would know there's an awesome person that might be able to find his way back and that's what made me want to bend over backwards to help him.

Bonus points, it also sets up Joker as Batman's main rival on a physical level - he was obsessed with Batman for a long time, and actually put himself through training to match him as much as possible. Their fights with and against each other show that Vigilante Joker is capable of coming close to Batman's level. I know the Villain Joker chapter is much closer to canon, but Vigilante Joker is the best justification I've ever seen for Joker being Batman's main villain without just having infinite plot armor. Canon Joker is typically wildly insane and a menace to basically everyone around him; not only does it make no sense that he would be left alive for more than five minutes, let alone that anyone would work with/for him (or bring him back from the dead), it also makes stories with him less compelling aside from raw shock factor as he does wildly insane evil stuff. He makes for a great trigger to push a hero over the edge and make them break their moral code, but that's about it, and even if he dies for it, he often comes back in some fashion because plot armor.
Their dialogues together are pretty amusing. When Alfred said he didn't need Joker's help with getting Bruce's bandage ready, I found the way Joker said, "Ohhh, okay" so adorable. He's like a little kid.
Oh vigilante Joker/John is just so damn cute. The way he styled his hair to be like Bruce’s cowl/the bar ears, the “maybe I was British before Arkham”, asking about childhood Bruce, I always go down this path and then tell him we were friends. Could never hurt his feelings and it killed me to hurt him.
I love this Joker/John Doe... He is awesome!!! With some of the funniest quotes, interactions, action scenes and wanting to do his best by his best friend Bruce Wayne. After watching the series on TH-cam, I’ll be proud to stick by him to the very end! I don’t regret sticking by him as well as Selina throughout the series.
Dude, I would love to see the future of this "Vigilante Joker". All the lives that don't die, the lives Joker himself saves, etc. Instead of Batman growing cruel and jaded due to the trials and sufferings Joker puts him through, he might actually improve his mood and outlook! The possibilities are endless!
Y`know as creepy and probably unhealthy this relationship is in some ways, i really really dig the friendship between those two. Kinda like Lex and Clark were in the first few seasons of Smallville. With Smallville it really made me wish to see what could`ve been if they stayed friends and worked together, same here, i really wish Joker and Bats could stay friends and vigilante partners. Maybe DC could make a short Elseworld version that shows exactly that 10 years down the line.

He could've killed Batman years ago in the comics, but he doesn't want their 'game' to end. Hell, he's known Bruce's identity since he broke Jason Todd and didn't act on it for years.
