I remember when I was 13 years old, I am now 63 by the way, I used to go over to the neighbours where this guy and his sister would play and sing together. I would sit there gob smacked and say oh I would love to be able to do this. The guy said" go buy a guitar and I will teach you." I bought a Spanish style guitar on Higher purchase $25 a lot of money back then, had to pay it off. I remember my first lesson The guy showed me the chord formation of C. Try as I may I simply could not get the strings to ring out. After an hour of watching my pathetic attempts the guy said" your fucking hopeless go teach yourself," ha ha. I was mightily pissed off, and did just what he said. I finished up buying a book called Rhythm guitar made easy, it came with a vinyl record to play along with. I persisted and started to get the hang of 12 Bars and Bar chords etc, rock n roll rhythms etc. About forty years later I got together with the same guy, I played and sang a blues song done by a guy called Dutch Tilders. The original guitar teacher said" oh wow! I would love to learn to play that". And I took great delight in saying, go fucking learn yourself ha ha, revenge bitter sweet, anyway enough of my reminiscent crap, good luck keep up the good work. Regards John Lee Australia.

Playing fast takes time. You'll have to give yourself some time. Play a scale or an arpeggio on a speed you're comfortable with on a metronome. And slowly increase every single day. Remember to do alternate picking. In a few months, you'll get real fast.
Some people get a guitar and its sat in the used shop window within a week cos they thought they could be a guitar legend by the weekend. Guitar is a life long thing and once you're hooked you'd rather sell your grandmother than be without a guitar.
For everyone who says how fast she progressed compared to you, I suspect that commiting yourself to a video project like this would greatly increase your willingness to pratice and will also give you feedback about stuff you might have played badly, thinking i might do the same, have had my guitars for a couple of years but struggled with motivation, massive props for getting so good so quickly!!
Dude Im 3 months in and I could play tears in heaven, one week after I got an electric guitar I could play sweet child of mine basic riff and now I could play some other riffs like last christmas etc, Im now 6 months in and writing my own version of look of love by burt barach, including a jazz solo in dm wich is fucking harder than I thought... I progress really fast and I have no idea why. I dont even take lessons, just watch some vids on TH-cam and then experimente with different sounds. My current version is writing my own version with lead guitar of look of love
Steve McKinley I know! Reminds me of myself when I first started playing in late Spring 2008. We neex more people to show what hard work can do, especially at the beginning of the journey.
Brings tears to my eyes and so much joy. I remember too when I first started and I would slowly change chords, my fingers hurt so bad, the strings were dead and muted when I hit them, I couldn't use a pick, everything. Jimi Hendrix and everyone who picked up a guitar one day didn't even know how to play an Em chord. It's an amazing process when you finally start to begin to flow. It brings so much happiness to my life. I'm glad you are learning well, enjoy!
Exactly! I just started today and even though my fingers are throbbing and I am on the basics, I LOVE IT already! I played violin a while ago, but have always wanted to learn guitar. I can't wait to see how far I can progress over the next year!
@@basedyannis you know what! I still am, although i havent been playing as much. I still dont understand how to make "music". But im keen on still learning to play xD

I’ve been playing for a year too and I was worried I wasn’t progressing fast enough so I clicked on this video and was pleasantly surprised we progressed at a near identical pace lmao
Just don't stop or you'll find yourself in the fucking awful place where I'm at. Played for like 4 years actively and used to be decent. But didn't play actively for the last 11 years. I need to basically start over, except that whatever I find is too easy. Going for something more advanced is too hard. I have to fumble around trying to find the right balance again. It's so demotivating when I see how shit i've become.
@Argentea League If you're willing to spend money probably the first stop is guitar pro, so you can get tabs. But most importantly just do exercises, because your fingers are not nimble anymore, and that's the first thing people like us need to restore. My teacher in the past gave me two really nice exercise that are really simple but stretch the muscles nicely. If you want I can draw it for you.
@Argentea League Here you go, it's not supposed to sound pretty but it's good for getting mobility. You can do this for a few mins daily or as warmup to other things you find online. I should clarify, you need to hold all of them at the same time, and not release. imgur.com/a/gvCvwuG
Retro Progress ‘That looks easy enough’, then I tried it... I have to use my other hand to physically place fretting fingers in position on that 1st exercise. Will it get easier? I think my fingers just aren’t able to stretch like that. 52yrs old, and learning the guitar for a month btw. Thanks for linking to that exercise.. I’ll keep trying even though it hurts
@@Delta-Niche Yeah it does get easier eventually. It hurts for me too, but I remember that I used to be able to do that without pain. But if you're feeling like you're not getting anywhere probably best to find something else. No point suffering if you don't see progress after a week.
Hey Rachel, I remember when I watched this video in the middle of 2019. I was about the same age you started playing. I never thought I'd be able to pick up a guitar and play something as I thought I was too old and busy with everything. That was the first time after watching your video I felt It might work. Then after a while, I bought my first electric guitar in march,2020. After almost 5 months I still suck, but I am satisfied with the progress I've made so far. I searched this video at the midnight 1 am here just to say Thank you for inspiring me. I hope I can go further with my playing. Probably none will notice the comment (already 12k+ comments here). None the less, Thank you! :D
I wish I worked a bit harder in my first couple of year, after eight years, I still might only be a couple of months ahead of you... Good work, you have inspired me to start working harder. :D
It's not just about working harder, but working smarter. I think a lot of us make the mistake of not outlining EXACTLY what it is that we want to get better at, so when we do practice, we'll noodle on stuff that we already know, instead of devoting our time to practice stuff that we don't know how to do.
same. been playing guitar for over 10 years but i was always playing the same shit so i never improved. with my current skill, people would think ive been playing for 2 -3 years, not more than 10 lol.
Year ago I saw that video, and it makes me grab my guitar and start learning! Now I've got my own first year progress video))) Thank you, Rachel for that motivation!! You are beautiful and awesome)))
Honestly, shout out to you for showing me what can be done. I’ve been teaching myself guitar slowly for a few months now and I didn’t think I’d be able to really jump any further but this inspired me to really keep pushing. Thank you
I started to learn guitar since i was 18 (2010) , i would never know how my life was changed since i picked up the guitar that year. now i am 24, i am studying contemporary music for guitar major in university, i changed my major from business to music ,and playing Jazz now. hope you would have a different life as you keep learning~
heyitsthegaykid I had a chance to take Business Master Degree , however I eager to learn music more than economics , since that I dropped it .still, it cost prices it didn’t mean easy to enroll conservatory, I had to learn theory myself, practice for auditions . Finally, why jazz? Blues is the foundation of contemporary music, jazz is the foundation of fusion, that’s a lot of-benefits from learning it, that means you can play your music in so many ways (I am not saying styles),it helps you to create your own style.👍🏼
It sounds stupid, hearing it from my perspective, yet nice. I am also an 18 year old who is looking to play the guitar, I have never held an electric guitar, and I am looking to buy one as of this month for sure. It would be cool to get a good grasp at it. I listen to classical rock/metal all day, so why not play it. Do you have any tips that would be of some use?
Well i can not say Metal or any Rock or "Classic" Rock you mean is bad ,i do love it. Anyway as you are beginner ,it's about how greedy you want to be , you may like to play power chords at frist ,until one day you feel that's boring you want to play more stuff, then you learn skills scales chords, but those concider guitar technique ,i call it foundation, after that you may know you need to learn "Music".My suggestion ,Find a good teacher listen to him or her grab a nice guitar and pedal so that won't waste money, stick with your teacher at least one year .
You're way ahead of where I was after my first year of playing, both in terms of proficiency and dedication. Besides, you've got a good sense of timing and rythm, which will take you a long way. Keep practising. At this rate you'll be fretting fast, shred-heavy solos in another year or so.
I remember just listening to Nirvana one day and decided I wanted to play my favorite song so I went to Guitar Center and bought a guitar and an amp. That whole rest of the day I kept trying to play my favorite song but my fingers were beginning to hurt so I stopped. The days following that I still kept trying but eventually I decided that I would start with something easier and left that song alone for now. I have now learned a ton more songs which would be considered harder and have yet to learn the song I originally wanted to play 😂
I will get an electric, been playing for 4-5 months on acoustic, all the somgs i really listen are from the rock and metal genre, i dont know why i even got an acoustic guitar xD Still learned like 3-4 songs xD
then theres me frustrated crying like a brat because i cant instantly know how to play and expert-level song lmao. ill keep trying. i really wanna learn!
If more expert players showed their first steps and their frustration in between less people would give up. These stories sounding like "I got a guitar at 5 and after that we were inseparable!" are BS. All of them had shitty days, all of them needed muscle memory to develop, all of them felt insecure at times because some narcissistic know-it-all ridiculed them. Some more, some less, but each music journey is different and all of us have different issues.
I’m getting an electric guitar for Christmas and know nothing about guitar, this video is really inspiring and it makes me smile when you smiled in the video. Good work, I aspire to be as good as you!
Dflex Sometimes my hands don’t reach to where they need to go! It’s really annoying too, as long as I know the notes or whatever, I can play it on GarageBand but not on an actual guitar! 😭
Dflex Idk it could be the way I’m playing that makes it so hard? Lol my mom keeps making jokes about how I’d be better with a ukulele than an electric guitar
Dflex Yea you are so right. I haven’t been practicing much lately, I’m gonna keep working at it and try to play new songs! Also can most guitarists read sheet music? I can’t I play by ear or look at the things where they tell you where to put your fingers. Am I going to have to learn to read sheet music or is it not necessary
@@sylvesterwarbringer8397 You do know there's videos on how to fix those bad habits right? Obviously not everyone has the drive to learn online but it can be done and I guess by your opinion this girl is shit since she didn't take lessons
Keep it up! Unfortunately as you can probably gather from the comments here, the greater masses of guitarists with an inferiority complex have welcomed you in their midst. Just follow your own path, not the path of wannabe that tells to hold your pick differently or you should be ripping this or that. And to those saying "you suck", what have you done lately to expose yourself so openly and to steadily chart your progress on whatever endeavour? Respect.
Agreed with Damian C. Absolutely Baller. I immediately started practicing. I've got a ways to go. Thanks for posting you're progress. You're an inspiration to anyone willing to check their Ego for 5 mins. Subbed.
Toot Toot I know what you are saying and it sounds like you offer constructive advice which is entirely different! In any case I don't pick like that myself but I've seen able players who do so you never know what works for whom. She also changed styles mid progress so she's still adapting.
what a great and inspirational video for people that want to start! I only started playing when I was 23. Started on an acoustic to build up strength. great stuff! Never too late to learn guitar. :)
Smiling during the "moments" where it all came together for you was the best thing I've seen on TH-cam in years. As long as you keep having those moments, you'll continue to get better. You'll be shredding before you know it. Shine on you crazy diamond. I can't believe that there are 540 dumbass haters who gave this a thumbs down. WTF is the world coming to when someone can't post a video of their first year playing, showing clear improvement month to month without a bunch of numpties having to be negative?
I totally agree. The smiles toward the end made the video for me. I enjoy seeing the progress and all, but seeing her "see" it was so great! Who are the haters? It's the people who have nothing better to do with their time than crap on other people for what they do, but will never put forth the effort to accomplish anything themselves. The world has plenty of them.
lol im laughing because I am in the beginning stage and im playing just like she was during her First week. I was feeling frustrated but this video has given me hope! 😘
You are such a delight! I play multiple instruments well enough to entertain myself and sometimes others, and I still feel like I've never really set myself any goals in terms of practise, and here you are focused, determined and progressing like a lunatic. I admire the journey! Thanks for sharing! And greetings from Finland, if that does anything for you. :D
It takes a lot of practice. at least 4 hours a day, with repetitive exercises. training your fingers both left and right hand to sync. Also ear training is a plus. you have to do it over and over again until your muscles memorize it. and a lot of patience.
I've been playing guitar for about five years now, and you're almost at the same point as me in one year. Thanks for helping me realise that yes, I can become good if I actually put in a lot of my effort. You're doing great.
Do it! I've been playing the guitar since 15. devoted myself to practice 4-10 hours a day. made a lot of progress. Became lead guitar in a local band. Had 5 bands in a span of 12 years. Got married, haven't touch the guitar in about 4 years. I haven't lost my passion for it. And I want to go back to the good old days. I'm 30 now but haven't lost the spark, just waiting for the right time to go back again since I've been very busy raising a family. Do it mate! Inspire more people for musics sake and for Old Dogs like us who haven't lost hope. :D
Althe05 oh, I've dedicated myself. I do have a couple videos on TH-cam here. music is a gift that everyone should share. Both of my kids play instruments, my son keyboards drums trumpet, my daughter guitar piano and violin. for people who say they are tone deaf, you'd be surprised how quickly you can catch on.
This is exactly how learning any instrument is. Its always about just putting in the effort and drive in to get what you want out. If there is any musician out there struggling to learn an instrument know that it takes years to master an instrument. Good luck to all you out there and keep rocking 🤘
At age of 16 i already started to love and learn guitar so much every day practicing day and night..but during my 20 yr birthday i have small accident got injured on my finger on my left hand..it took 15 yr for my finger to full recover..and now at age of 36 iam still on its..continueng the practice..just dont give up..
victoriaRobyn Fuck you're god damn right. I feel like a shit. Fuck off, two years of guitar and I think i could learn somethinks from this video: i'm the biggest shit in the world.
I'm starting guitar at the age of 21, and I thought it's too late since every guitar player said I got my first guitar at the age of 12 and ext... but now I feel good about continuing my journey.
+Werner Erkelens Great Video clip! Sorry for butting in, I would love your opinion. Have you researched - Riddleagan Blossoming Solo Remedy (Sure I saw it on Google)? It is a great exclusive guide for mastering guitar scales without the normal expense. Ive heard some extraordinary things about it and my cousin got cool results with it.
it’s really inspiring that she showed that she wasn’t the best in the beginning because everyone learns at a different pace and it gives me hope that i will be as good as her at the one year mark
Hey Rachel, I just LOVE this video!! I can relate so much to it! My first year at the guitar was a real struggle, but I'm glad I kept on going anyways. Congratulations on your progress and keep up the good work! =)
The reason its so hard to play a lot of solos from varies artists is because people try to replicate it exactly. I feel that you advance a lot more when you start putting your own sound (or flavor) in them, pretty much like a singer would do. Everyone has there own style of playing just like every singer has their own voice so when you try to be exactly like someone else it can be difficult. Putting your own twist on a solo doesn't mean you aren't good and can't play it, its just you playing in your own version and that is what makes your sound unique. I also think that it is better for beginner guitarists to not use distortion when practicing until they have the song down. That's just my opinion, but when you play with distortion too much you become sloppy because you can't hear the mistakes you are making. Playing it clean will really let you know what you need to work on.
Sarah s No problem haha, you have made really great progress though congratulations. I am 19 and have been playing for about 7 years and am still learning new stuff to this day lol its addictive
jakob lawson well if you are starting it's not a bad idea to learn solos note per note, that way you get chops and sounds you like... and then you can start adding your spice to it lol
Good tips jakob, thanks. I've been playing for about 10 months now and one thing I'm starting realizing (just like you said) is that its not necessary to get bogged down on copying a solo verbatim. It's OK to modify things to suit you. Just keep playing. Been playing a lot of blues the last 4-5 months and its helped my soloing immensely. The guy I learn lessons from says learn licks, don't worry too much about scales. Now when I go back to rock music I can sort of solo over any song even though it may sound a bit different.
Tom Hutchison Right on man, I'm thinking about starting my own channel and posting videos. I have met tons of amazing guitarists that have so much talent, but can only play other peoples songs. There is nothing wrong with that if thats what they want to do but I got a lot better at freestyling and writing my own music when I stopped playing by the book so-to-say. I never grew up learning anything but tabs, chords and a couple blues scales. I may not be able to flawlessly re-perform cliffs of dover but I can write and play my own stuff excellently.
It's strange how some things click one day, just recently I used to struggle to make a 3 finger power chord shape, and then one day I tried to make it again and it just worked, after I managed that it didn't take me long for barre chords, moving up the fretboard and just knowing where each finger should go
I just started playing a few weeks ago but I wanted to say that your progress inspires me so much and it makes me so happy to see you playing Ghost because they're what made me really want to play.

Any day of any one of those months you could have just given up and quit. Im glad you didn't and posted your progress here as inspiration for the rest of us.
Yes!! I remember watching this video when I first started learning about a year and a half ago. It was such great inspiration when pushing through that initial hump in the beginning. I know it’s several years later but thank you for this!
Brought me back to when I first started playing. Keep up the good work and make sure that you find your sound and use great guitarists as examples and take a little bit of their techniques and incorporate it into your sound. Also make sure to be diverse! listen to everything you can and take some licks from every genre and find out what makes it special to you and everyone who hears it. keep shredding!
Oscar Salvatierra Yea I do know guitar but I dont actually know the real day I started learning guitar. I actually know how to play guitar. Well... You can say I still got to learn a lot like scales and soloing lol.
hello :) I've been playing for 26 years now and i must say i'm impressed by your progress. and in only one year. and most of the things you play in this video are things i play when i just sit and "doodle" with my guitar. all great practice pieces. if i could give you some useful advice i think it would be to practice tuning your guitar. do it often and always make sure its's in tune verytime you play. it will help alot in the long run. And also try loosening up your right hand a bit. when your hand gets more agile you will start using the pick almost like when you're writing with a pen. so try and loosen up your fingers. it will help your precision hope it helps and good luck :)
Yesterday I bought my electric guitar. Today is my first day of exercising and suddenly I found your video. I want you to know how inspiring your video was. Thank you.
you are inspiring, so I bought an epiphone SG Special for my 38th and hope to let some of this emotion out in my fingers. was hard to find a guitar I liked since im in a wheelchair
Dustin...you will soon be able to amplify or change your emotions and feelings to what you want, if you stick with it. Frequencies and tones of music/instruments mesh with the frequencies of our being, physically and spiritually...literally. just an intro to a song can completely change our emotions. Best wishes to you
Learn D, A, G and C then branch out to things like D7, Am... etc and you’ll be able to play in no time. I’ve been playing for a month and I can do the guitar riff from day tripper
Cause if you get a guitar by Christmas you’ll probably get a good one, you’ll need an amp too, But I learned by my self and it’s so fun you should definitely try
I'm going to show this to my 4th grade students next lesson to show the value of repetition and practice (and my son). We just finished a lesson or two on fretted instruments. Great job Rachel!
unosturgis I first played with an acoustic guitar is Something in the Way by Nirvana with standard tuning (I didn't know the different tunings at first, that's why I'm always using the standard tuning). After I learned that song, I started playing Smells Like Teen Spirit, until I started to play all of the songs in the Nevermind album just with an acoustic guitar. And so on, and so on, until now. My favorite song to play right now is Julia by The Beatles. Anyways, I started last October 2016.

teacher pla help me to play faster and plz don't say play slow
Playing fast takes time. You'll have to give yourself some time. Play a scale or an arpeggio on a speed you're comfortable with on a metronome. And slowly increase every single day. Remember to do alternate picking. In a few months, you'll get real fast.
Japhet Anciado Do that after you reach 140+ bpm on alternate. Because then you'll have greater control.
Same. :')
Eyal Save money and buy a lefty one. It'll be worth the wait.
Or invert your brother's guitar strings, if the guitar has symmetry.
Some people get a guitar and its sat in the used shop window within a week cos they thought they could be a guitar legend by the weekend. Guitar is a life long thing and once you're hooked you'd rather sell your grandmother than be without a guitar.
Haha this is true
Or hangout at a lot of pawnshops and Western wear stores until you get another one!!! 😎
Very true
I'm thinking of buying and learning the electric guitar. So you're saying I won't be better than Jimmy Hendrix by next Friday??? What a gyp! lol.
I played for years and got bored. Now I'm learning the drums. I hope my passion for guitar reawakens tho.
For everyone who says how fast she progressed compared to you, I suspect that commiting yourself to a video project like this would greatly increase your willingness to pratice and will also give you feedback about stuff you might have played badly, thinking i might do the same, have had my guitars for a couple of years but struggled with motivation, massive props for getting so good so quickly!!
aim to fail - that's when you make the neural connections/muscle memory - that point where you are ready to throw the guitar against the wall.
Great insight! I'll do the same
Dude Im 3 months in and I could play tears in heaven, one week after I got an electric guitar I could play sweet child of mine basic riff and now I could play some other riffs like last christmas etc, Im now 6 months in and writing my own version of look of love by burt barach, including a jazz solo in dm wich is fucking harder than I thought...
I progress really fast and I have no idea why. I dont even take lessons, just watch some vids on TH-cam and then experimente with different sounds. My current version is writing my own version with lead guitar of look of love
lol if anyone learns slower than this girl should quit guitar she cant play the trooper riff correctly after a 1 fucking year
theSollundForYou i was playing like that after one month lol
Here i am with the same guitar and amp for the past 16 years...sigh. Good job!
Suzumebachigr i mean.... sounds in the fingers yeah?
it is....thats irrelevant though.
Suzumebachigr a great guitar player makes due with the equipment they have but nice stuff isn't bad at all either lol
i know...my point was that i couldnt buy new equipment 50% of lack of moeny and 50% of not playing so i didnt actually bother... :)

I soooooo agree!!!
Exactly! I just started today and even though my fingers are throbbing and I am on the basics, I LOVE IT already! I played violin a while ago, but have always wanted to learn guitar. I can't wait to see how far I can progress over the next year!
Thinking about the fact that Jimi Hendrix didn't know the Em chord at one point gives me hope
The fact that I started playing guitar 5 years before Jimi Hendrix gives me hope too

Check out my vids of my first year of playing
I'm not sure if I feel depressed, motivated, jealous or just damn right amazed by this.
Love the determination......if you can dream it, you can do it...BRAVO!

Claypot I'm in the same boat.
Claypot yeah... same thing here xD
been playing for 6 or 7 years now and I gotta say.. fuck man.. I suuck XDD
It's not just about working harder, but working smarter. I think a lot of us make the mistake of not outlining EXACTLY what it is that we want to get better at, so when we do practice, we'll noodle on stuff that we already know, instead of devoting our time to practice stuff that we don't know how to do.
RickyboyH That's my problem exactly. It's like lifting weights; if you don't switch up the routine, results will stagnate.

I started to learn guitar since i was 18 (2010) , i would never know how my life was changed since i picked up the guitar that year. now i am 24, i am studying contemporary music for guitar major in university, i changed my major from business to music ,and playing Jazz now. hope you would have a different life as you keep learning~
jazz instead of business? well it's your life...
heyitsthegaykid I had a chance to take Business Master Degree , however I eager to learn music more than economics , since that I dropped it .still, it cost prices it didn’t mean easy to enroll conservatory, I had to learn theory myself, practice for auditions .
Lacus Luk Well i'm 15 started playing a few weeks ago i mean the rock is in my family since my father is hardcore Motörhead fan :)
Learn it.
Wtf my songs are easy to play
Nirvana ...
You can play all their songs with two fingers - all power cords
I will get an electric, been playing for 4-5 months on acoustic, all the somgs i really listen are from the rock and metal genre, i dont know why i even got an acoustic guitar xD
Still learned like 3-4 songs xD
stoney neff Considering most of their songs use GM and Bm chords. Those require 3 fingers. So you need 3 fingers. Not two.
then theres me frustrated crying like a brat because i cant instantly know how to play and expert-level song lmao.
ill keep trying. i really wanna learn!
I got this! Be patient it will take time but capable to achieve
how's it going??

And to those saying "you suck", what have you done lately to expose yourself so openly and to steadily chart your progress on whatever endeavour? Respect.

Damián C man, insulting her isn't cool, I agree, and it's great process, but you have to agree, the picking will hold her back eventually
Toot Toot I know what you are saying and it sounds like you offer constructive advice which is entirely different! In any case I don't pick like that myself but I've seen able players who do so you never know what works for whom. She also changed styles mid progress so she's still adapting.

Playing it clean will really let you know what you need to work on.
jakob lawson omg thanks for the tips !
It's strange how some things click one day, just recently I used to struggle to make a 3 finger power chord shape, and then one day I tried to make it again and it just worked, after I managed that it didn't take me long for barre chords, moving up the fretboard and just knowing where each finger should go
That’s how I felt today
I just started playing a few weeks ago but I wanted to say that your progress inspires me so much and it makes me so happy to see you playing Ghost because they're what made me really want to play.
I think this just gave me the motivation to pick up my guitar again and try to learn
and here i am stuck to this $50 acoustic for the last 4 years
Aman Mahendroo saaaaame
Even with that you still can make awesome music go check the youtuber peter gergely
Well I mean you’re probably better than the beginners with Gibson les pual customs
Aman Mahendroo same, I hate it so much, it's been 5 years
Aman Mahendroo SAME
Impressive and inspiring. I'm about 100 years older than you, but I am going to give it a go! Hopefully I can get as far as you did in 12 months. Thank you!
XDDDDD
Good luck and I hope that you stick with it.
it’s now a year later. how’d it go?
@@Alia-pq9of he is probably dead judging by the fact that he is well over 115yo
@@mustafakhalid9348 bruh 😭😭😭😭
bought a guitar a few days ago. trying to pick back up on music after doubting myself for so long...thanks for sharing, ima use this for needed motivation
im linking this to a friend as motivation, this is so awesome! it's great seeing all that hard work pay off
Not much a motivation. There's very little progress for a WHOLE year.
Mark Lee I think the same. As i scrolled through the comments i expected better playing by the end of the video.
Nice!!! The fact that 1000 people gave you a thumbs down is proof that it's impossible to please everyone so just be yourself!!! Like... there isn't a negative thing about this video and people give it a thumbs down. Hahah wtf
sal christy there probably just salty cause they cant play guitar lol
Flying Hipo it does take dedication after all
Why would anyone neg someone putting themselves out there starting from scratch ? Go girlie
80sruler People are haters. Thanks Trump
This is the most inspiring thing I think I've ever watched. Just bought a guitar and this really shows what you can achieve with practice
Any day of any one of those months you could have just given up and quit. Im glad you didn't and posted your progress here as inspiration for the rest of us.
Unbelievable progress! That's amazing and very encouraging. I'm on my 9th day :) Much love.
How's it going?
3rd day over here! I can play the beginning of Enter Sandman alright
@@toastom Nice
Its a beautiful thing to see someone start picking up guitar, you earned that sub. Rock On!
Thank you! :)
No problem
Rachelf good job, keep it up.
Same
Can u plz share resources you learned from??? It would help a lot ...thanks
TH-cam is an endless source of information and training for almost everything.
NinjaThug Yea but I just don't know what to learn like I'm learning the pentatonic scale rn.
I learned extremely fast from searching a bunch of stuff on TH-cam. Now I have a guitar teacher after 3 months.
Songsterr is super useful app for tabs, I'm learning many songs here! :)
And also try loosening up your right hand a bit. when your hand gets more agile you will start using the pick almost like when you're writing with a pen. so try and loosen up your fingers. it will help your precision
hope it helps and good luck :)
Yesterday I bought my electric guitar. Today is my first day of exercising and suddenly I found your video. I want you to know how inspiring your video was. Thank you.
The willy Wonka melody was really beautiful! Also I love the fact that you practice scales, and not just trying to play cover songs. Great work!
you are inspiring, so I bought an epiphone SG Special for my 38th and hope to let some of this emotion out in my fingers. was hard to find a guitar I liked since im in a wheelchair
best part obout guitar, is you don't need to stand!
Give it your best XD
Dustin...you will soon be able to amplify or change your emotions and feelings to what you want, if you stick with it. Frequencies and tones of music/instruments mesh with the frequencies of our being, physically and spiritually...literally. just an intro to a song can completely change our emotions. Best wishes to you
My dad said that if I can play guitar by Christmas He'll get me an electric, do you guys believe in me?
(Edit: Thanks for all the support :)
Big Emo Torpedo yes do it?
Learn D, A, G and C then branch out to things like D7, Am... etc and you’ll be able to play in no time. I’ve been playing for a month and I can do the guitar riff from day tripper
Wow dude, thank you so much!! :D
Hell yeah
Cause if you get a guitar by Christmas you’ll probably get a good one, you’ll need an amp too, But I learned by my self and it’s so fun you should definitely try
I'm going to show this to my 4th grade students next lesson to show the value of repetition and practice (and my son). We just finished a lesson or two on fretted instruments. Great job Rachel!
OoO omg you're amazing!!! You've inspired me to learn to play the guitar!! Thank you so much!!
great, just do the community a favor, when you decided to record some video for youtube, make sure your guitar is in tune
Definitely the elements of determination, discipline, talent and joy at work. Nice work!
I taught myself guitar by watching nirvana unplugged! Awesome work so far, keep it up :)
unosturgis the Unplugged Album is just legendary ❤️
unosturgis I first played with an acoustic guitar is Something in the Way by Nirvana with standard tuning (I didn't know the different tunings at first, that's why I'm always using the standard tuning). After I learned that song, I started playing Smells Like Teen Spirit, until I started to play all of the songs in the Nevermind album just with an acoustic guitar. And so on, and so on, until now. My favorite song to play right now is Julia by The Beatles. Anyways, I started last October 2016.
