      Additional tip: put the volume knob in it's place.

My brother is only 5 years older and has stage 4 Prancreatic cancer with 2-6 months left and he was a great Guitarist. He runs/ran Marathons until recently. I I play every day and will never be as good as him. I keep up with new Music and just got a Synth, which as a Rock/Punk?Metal Purist I would have sworn off 5 years ago. I have 7 & 8 strings and play through Laboga, 6505+, and Orange and ENGL's. I want to play for years to come and do other stuff like Art, and write Screenplays. Enjoys every minute of every day and take nothing for grated. There's a reason you are here and born when you were. You are obviously aware and perhaps you are here to lead by example and you already have awareness beyond your years and just be true to yourself and hunker down and practice at whatever you are good at and do not waste time hanging out and partying too much, there's time for good times and that is important too but only as a reward. Kick ass my young and wise friend. This isn't a trial run. This is it.All the world's a stage. Sorry to others for the novel. Kung Fu Theatre.Shaolin mindset.

      Just wonderful, I been tryin to find out about "shred metal scales" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you heard people talk about - Ganyatty Guitar Gainify - (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now ) ? Ive heard some unbelievable things about it and my neighbour got excellent results with it.

      Just so happens, I have a sack of carrots I'd forgotten about in the car. A gal gave me them for my uncle's horses. But the horses are old and can't chew them so now I have a good use for two of them. Thank you.. If they haven't rotted yet. :0

      Old carrots won't do the job. They have to be fresh. Otherwise they have no moisture to give to your guitar :)

      gmcguitar Thanks for sharing these ideas. Learned some new stuff. As a transcriber though had a bad time reading those jumping captions. Keep them all in the bottom, or all on top. That way we don't have to strain our eyes looking up and down every second and we can enjoy the video better without having to pause it so often. ✌

    Dull picks can be sharpened a few times by rubbing them on a carpet. works wonders.

    Beginner's stuff!
    Try putting the guitar on it's back and rolling a pencil in your nut slots, the graphite is a natural lubricant. The trem can be lubricated with vaseline as this doesn't sink into the wood and cause swelling and splitting.

    Great video! The current generation of guitar players are learning these tips and tricks at an accelerated pace thanks to people like you and TH-cam. Much better than constantly moving the needle on the record while you and your friends try to figure out how Joe Walsh does what he does.

      Very interesting comment. The constant needle moving sounds so frustrating, yet I imagine it would test your dedication and build patience. It would certainly improve your ear training. There's assured growth in getting by with what little you have. I honestly feel that the status quo of easy, all-access is more a hindrance than a benefit.

    Damnation! I wish the rest of the guitar gurus would distill their knowledge into the timespan you just did. Normally it takes 20 different lessons just to make the This is a Favorites keeper for me! Thanks! By the way,your playing makes me want to pick up my guitar and get to work on these suggestions right now! I wish every channel on TH-cam presented this many lessons in only one lesson.     These are so good and useful thank you so much ! I'm playing guitar for more than 20 years. Back in the 90s when we don't have internet, we learnt all of these (except carrots, it is new to me :) by trial and error. New generation guitar players should know how lucky they are.

    For tip #4, my acoustic has the string buzz but I can't tell where it's coming from, what would be the best way to fix that problem on an acoustic guitar?

      tyler hoskins The strings are probably touching the frets when they vibrate. Raising the strings a little bit should help.
