    When engineering isn’t limited by the corporate/government overlords, it’s a solid connect to the consumer.

      Manufacturers have CAFE standards - that's what dictates a lot of what they're doing to get the most mileage from each vehicle. You might want to consider the government overlords that are controlling what manufacturers can do. It's not quite as one-dimensionally simplistic as you think it is.

    Just installed on my 2022 Chevy Colorado.
    Install was simple (just like all throttle controllers) and the Pedal Monster does exactly what it Banks says it does; fix the dead pedal built into just about all modern 'drive by wire' systems.
    My truck now feels like cars did in the 80's, when the gas pedal was mechanically connected to the carburetor. And now I can actually feel the 308HP that my engine is rated at.
    That ends my review, but if anyone reading this owns a newer Chevy and uses the MyChevrolet app on their phone, you may want to keep reading...
    And now I have something that my fellow Chevy owners may be interested in:
    I have the MyChevrolet app on my iPhone. I like it because it gives me real time diagnostics, lets me locate my truck via GPS, and most importantly, remote start my truck from anywhere. (Very important in NY where it can be 6 degrees in Winter and 95 degrees with 96% humidity in Summer) Unfortunately, after installing the Pedal Monster, I noticed that every time I opened the app after turning my truck off, I would see numerous diagnostic alerts; everything from engine, transmission and antilock brakes, to emissions and StabiliTrak indicated that they 'needed attention'.
    I wasn't getting a check engine light, just warnings from my app. And those 'Alerts' would clear themselves as soon as I opened the apps details screen anyway.
    But despite that, I was still a little worried about the alerts since GM sends me a monthly diagnostic report based on the app, and I was worried that they would be able to track the mod and give me crap about my warranty. So I called Banks tech support, and the very helpful representative told me that because the Pedal Monster runs off of, and gets info from the OBD port, this was probably blocking the Chevy apps ability to get real time diagnostics and causing the alert. He assured me that this wouldn't be traceable and even if it was, I could just say I was using one of those dongles that insurance companies give out to monitor safe driving, but that if I was really worried about it I could simply disable the reverse gear safety function on the Pedal Monster, and that should clear up the conflict. Since the reverse safety was one of the main selling points for me, I wasn't about to disable it. And as long as nothing weird was happening with my truck, I really didn't consider it a big deal to just refresh my Chevy app every so often.
    However I just discovered another 'fix': I'm running the stand alone Pedal Monster and I noticed that if I DON'T open the Banks app on my phone when I'm driving, then the Chevy app doesn't notice anything. This is totally fine with me because I'm not one of those guys who's constantly playing with my settings. Sport +1 is my sweet spot and I haven't found the need to change it since the 2nd day after the install. Of course if I really felt the need to use the Banks app while driving, I could just refresh the Chevy app after I shut my truck off.
    So that's my story. If you're a Chevy guy and this helps, great. And to the guy's at Banks tech support, you may want to relay this info if you ever get another call about the Pedal Monster messing with the MyChevrolet app.

    I had the 2011 Tacoma V6 - and had mastered how to wring the power from that engine (basically put the shifter in 4th gear, and punch the throttle if you need power. It would give it to you with what I thought was negligible delay, and there wasn't really a need for a throttle controller. Going to a 2020 4R Limited- Toyota definitely softened the accelerator curve (and I think there are two curves - one for part time 4WD trucks and one for full time 4WD trucks, since I drove both for an extended time and both had different feel to them). The 4R Limited has this really slow off the line acceleration - the only way to get it move is to already be rolling at 5 mph or so, in 4th gear, and punch the accelerator- and it may end up moving, but it's not very consistent.
    Since the Power Monster seems to be safe and definitely is legit, I may have to give it a try!

A good tuner should not only change the pedal tables for various modes but also the torque ramping rates for various modes/speeds/torques etc. Or maybe this product is focused on people that dont want to tune the ECU? In which case that makes sense.

    • @bankspower
      @bankspower  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      PedalMonster does not use the +5v pedal reference circuit for power. It merely references the voltage to know the pedal's position, just like the ECM. So, there is no draw from the pedal circuit. The module is powered by +12v from the OBD port. When the vehicle's ECM goes to sleep and the pedal's +5v reference circuit drops to 0v, PedalMonster shuts down. It will not drain your battery.

    • @bankspower
      @bankspower  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No. PedalMonster is a throttle sensitivity controller for gas and diesel vehicles. In basic terms, it changes the pedal position in relation to the throttle to eliminate that mushy feel. In many of today's cars and trucks, auto manufacturers have implemented what's known as "throttle enrichment delay." This is a fancy term for sponge pedal.

      Same. This is a pretty big deal. It seems either the transmission is limiting the engine or the ecm is. It’s definitely programming as the instant power around 1800 rpm can break the wheels loose. Plus it doesn’t matter if you floor the pedal from a start or just feather it slightly. It’s the same acceleration until 1800 rpm.

I’m so pissed off at GM I’m seriously considering trading in my brand new Sierra Denali on a Ford. Anyone know if they are doing this same crap. My truck does 0 to 10 in three seconds. It no longer bugs me but it sucks when you first drive it after driving something with better throttle response.

    It’s a long shot but was hoping to try and get the opinion from the man himself or at least a qualified engineer over there. I’m pretty sure you guys would be on the same page as me but I’m open to constructive criticism. I’m currently doing a custom water to air intercooler on a twin turbo bmw n54 engine and I’m getting a lot of backlash within the n54 tech group. the cookie cutter method people use are these ridiculous stepped air to air intercoolers (look up n54 stepped intercooler) and I look at that and think that can’t possibly have optimal flow characteristics. Additionally there seems to be some misinformation and I believe confusion about the volume of the charge air system volume. It’s my theory that if you can minimize the the length of the run from turbo through intercooler to intake you minimize the volume and that translates to a higher average horse power. I think people are confusing pressure drop across an undersized intercooler tho. The consensus is to slap this huge park bench looking stepped intercooler on the baby stock turbos and that’s the best method

    It's absolute BULL $HIT that the programming from the factory is trying to get the most fuel mileage.
    I have installed a pedal controller on my '14 Jeep Cherokee, and am getting better mpg AND unleashed jaw dropping
    response. When placed in certain profiles, I have a hell of a lot of fun taking on sport cars at the lights because
    they thought they were going to blow my doors off. And i am there right beside them while only pressing 1 or 2 inches on throttle. 😃

    How would you hook this up in conjunction with an Edge Cts3 monitor which runs off the obd port as well?

      @computerfixer06 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think they make obd port splitters, otherwise it works hand in hand with all banks tuners

      Unfortunately, we do not support Honda yet. They're just not very popular cars. Kidding obviously. Honda is on our roadmap for future development.

    Why do you need all these settings?? Yes I also say heck with sponge pedal. So pedal upgrade is needed but why not just a 1:1 just like a cable pedal? What’s wrong with cable pedal? Why would you want more then what a cable gives? Just think a single setting to equate to what a cable does is what you want and need.

    • @bankspower
      @bankspower  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can't have a physical cable in a drive-by-wire vehicles. Regarding stock drive-by-wire pedals in modern vehicles, they are not 1:1. That's the misconception. When you push down 50%, you may only receive 35% throttle. Because it's electronic, vehicle manufacturers can give you any amount of throttle at any pedal position and it's usually not 1:1.
