Wife has this bike and its a beast (in terms of weight; super heavy). Can't imagine how heavy the other bikes are that he's comparing it to. Steel fork and beefy/sturdy frame likely culprits.
excellent review. it's been a great bike. i have the 2012. what would be a good new bike to replace this? Looking for lighter weight and disk breaks. Ideally I'd like to stick with a Hybrid instead of a road. thank you.
Chris, hi.Great vid. I live near Boston and checked this bike out there. It was $340. I'm assuming it has steel forks for the price. Not Carbon fiber or aluminum. I'd imagine the steel would be safer for city, with me jumping off curbs alot. Would that be a safe bet?
Your comment is 3 months old but the fork is steel. But if you're curb jumping I would go for the Roam over the escape. The roam has a front suspension that can be turned on and off.
bought a 2015 Escape 1 awhile back and it's not your ordinary hybrid. I can max 27 mph on gravel and avg speed of 17 mph. handles wind we'll, great components, sturdy and you can generate serious power on this bike.
Can someone plz help , I see on giants website that there's 4 different types of escape , can someone tell me which one this is and am estimate of how much it is? Thank you! :)

I bought the 2014 Giant escape rx carbon hybrid bike. It is one awesome machine. Definitely made for longer rides.

I there a big difference in the Escape 2 and 3? The aluminum and steel fork versions?

you average 17mph on this bike???? how many miles you do
On the hybrid I ride 25-30 miles. If I go any further than that I ride a road bike for comfort and speed.

I think it is the escape 3. The price is about £300-350.
The seats on all of these bikes no matter what year. There junk and have to be changed to something easier on the a##.
My ears hurt.
