This series did the evil superman trope before it became more common but it is still great. Injustice to me at the time felt like a successor to the Justice Lords plot in the OG Justice League show. Superman and especially Wonder Woman are so hatefilled that they're unrecognizable and the story is so engaging
I wouldn’t call it a trope. Some hacky article did but there’s literally like four stories across three mediums where that story is used. That doesn’t constitute a trope. It’s unique to that universe and maybe one other, where that THEME is similar but explored in a different way. Idk why but the misuse of that word irks me.
i have read the comics for injustice and superman's fall wasn't sudden or instant. it was slow and gradual. like at points, he was still superman but he started to do more harsher shit. at one point, alfred kind of warns superman not to go too far. clark leaves the batcave and passes by alfred. alfred says "good day, master clark". clark tells him jokingly that it's just clark, not master. alfred looks at him and says "yes. i hope you remember that." alfred served as the line. the last stop before superman's fall. because if alfred pennyworth has lost faith in you, you are truly lost.
And then he hired someone to kill Alfred, really showed how much he changed from that scene in the batcave to him threatening Alfred for the whereabouts of the Insurgency
Yyyeah but still.... Supermans source of humanity is without a doubt his Parents, the El's and the Kent's. And as long as there isnt a drasticall change in this Backstory, you cant convince me that Sups would just kill a Child at one Point and move on.
Alfred should've been a playable character in Injustice 2 IMO. Especially after the comic gave us a scene where he took the superhuman pill and he briefly fought Superman.
@@ahkafkhan4512 I dunno, but Alfred has a military background, so I'd imagine they would take a look at whatever military training Britain's military gets, maybe mix in some gunplay and super strength, and call it a day. One thing I do kind of hate about Injustice is that It further popularised the notion of an evil Superman which by now has been done to death and will continue to be overdone in the future. I'm at a point where I just want real pure and hopeful Superman. The reason Superman as a character works and why he is undeniably essential to the world of comics is because he represents the hope and goodness within all of us. He is an emotionally healthy hero and one who will never give up on us.
I don't think it was just the death of Lois that turned him to madness. It was the fact that he was manipulated to do it himself and kill his unborn child along with 11 million other people (many of which were also children). He just could not cope with the guilt at all and the fact that almost nobody helped him grieve properly (Batman especially) is what turned him to try to take back control of his life in such a drastic manner. The Joker's plan was just too cruel and too perfect to take down Superman.
@@theoutsiderjess1869 And that's the worst part. Wonder Woman was so desperate to get together with Clark that she clearly enabled all of his worst impulses and pushed him further to the dark side.

What I will say is that joker was a in the moment kill. I read the first volume of the comics. The first thing Clark does after losing Lois and metropolis is go to the interrogation room to kill the joker.
I understand what you mean about Superman's humanity and how it should not only be tied to Lois. However, since it was all the Joker's doing, I see it a lot more about Superman having 'one bad day' and, as you remind us all at the end of all of your videos, 'you know what they say about having one bad day'.
There's also the fact that it was a gradual decline. The whole story in comic spans five years before the first game, and there's a lot of slow, gradual evil done in the name of good. Even then, the story ultimately isn't about how Superman is wrong for killing, it's about how friends should support each other in their darkest times.
I think the comics do a world of good for context. Like for instance superman turning evil isn't as instant and I personally like how Harley was done in them
It's not him losing Lois. Its him KILLING Lois and his child. It's him destroying the city he swore to protect. It's not Lois, it's Lois, his child, AND his city all gone because he personally did it.
The game gets better if you read the comics. With the comic, the game’s story is the culmination of the 5 year story for these characters and Batman’s desperate last attempt to defeat Superman
If you want an interesting subversion of the Harley/Joker relationship try the Telltale batman games (the second part specifically) Harley is the dominant abuser in the relationship and it actually creates an interesting Joker who both befriends and in his eyes is betrayed by Bruce Wayne, the other interesting aspect of this game being it focuses more on the person beneath the Cowl.
This series made me love superman even more. Seeing the evil version of him voiced by George the man himself made me realize just how great of a character Clark is because it's thanks to the friends around him (even batman as edgy as he is) and his iron will to remain optimistic in spite of the pessimism around him that he stands out as the hero we all aspire to be. So seeing an evil version of him who decided to stoop to pessimism and become a tyrant get beat down by the real hero, it's amazing (I should also point out superman feels like he'd be sad if Lois died, yes. But he wouldn't go evil. Not even the Justice Lord version would though he already did go rogue. This regime superman on the other hand and all other depictions after the fact? Oh they totally would lose it. Superman would be disappointed)
You couldn’t be more wrong about comparing this superman to Cavill’s. It’s been stated repeatedly that losing Lous in that universe just makes him vulnerable to the anti-life equation. Losing her doesn’t make him snap and go evil, but in his grief Darkseid is able to get to him.
I usually don’t give “What if Superman was evil?” stories much credit because it seems lazy. But I was pleased with the way it slowly happened in Injustice.
It wasn’t just Lois and the baby’s deaths that broke Superman. It was also the nuke that went off in Metropolis that killed pretty much everyone in the city plus a lot of heroes who tried to help. Pretty much everyone Superman was close with, excluding Ma and Pa Kent, is dead due to Superman’s actions and the few people he had left weren’t there for him when he needed them most. It wasn’t as simple as “Lois dead, Superman not connected with humanity anymore.” It’s a story about a man filled with so much grief and resentment that he has tunnel vision. He’s refusing to acknowledge the fact that he was partially responsible for the deaths of those he loved, and when other heroes start to agree with him it only pushes him further down the rabbit hole. He may be good at heart but when 5 out of the 6 other JL members agree that things have to change it makes it easier to wave away any doubts he would have.

In defense of the depiction of Evil Superman, at least in the DCEU, that version of Superman might've gone rouge from the death of Lois, but that was only because the immense grief of losing her made him venerable to Darksied's anti-life equation. Truly if there is anyone that ties Superman to humanity in that universe, it's his mother, as when she is threatened by both Zod and Lex, Superman gets really pissed and loses it, with Lois, he certainly is upset when Lex throws her off a building, but he doesn't lose control of the situation until his mother is mentioned.
I just gotten back into the Injustice franchise a month or so ago and you basically described everything of what I feel for the series. You made a amazing summary video!

I think it's less the death of Lois that broke him and more how she died. He was tricked and manipulated into killing both her and their unborn baby in a brutal way. It's also worth noting that several other factors also happened afterward. Bruce shutting him out while he was grieving, Diana gaslighting him to keep enforcing peace, and crime and war continued even after his tragedy. There was too much happening at the time he was not mentally well.
Many games comic stories are weird or simply bad. But injustice is just amazing. I love your content man. Watched pretty much everything. More than anything I'm a DC fan. But I'm hoping one day you make a handful of videos about Spawn. That story is right up your alley and I'd love to hear some of your content on the subject. 😊
Injustice is both the Reason why I Became a Mortal Kombat and Fighting Game Fan and Learn other DC Characters as a Whole,My Main Issues are how this Concept misguided the Evil Superman Troupe but aside from that Love this Story and Please do Injustice 2.
I love the Injustice story and the comics it’s just so well written to me and plus all the deaths feel so pivotal to a depressing point. Injustice really would’ve made a phenomenal dark animated series if they did properly this time
On the technical level theres a comic that serves as an injustice 3 i ssy technically because its basically just a noncanon crossover with another company’s characters however it does continue the story and even give it a definitive happy ending.
The way I see it Wonder Woman is the true villain of Injustice. Superman may be the center figure of the Regime, but Diana was the one who pushed him to that point. I also believe the idea of Lois being what tethers Clark to humanity is both ingenious and also a bit strange. I think it worked best in Smallville where Clark still strived to do the right thing for humanity, but it wasn't until he saw Lois return in S9 that he was willing to return to society. Also, I believe that Clark's turn to the dark side was a progression that started off as a broken man trying to admittedly mold the world into a better one, into a sociopath hellbent on subjecting the world to his delusional values. All this was present because Clark's only source of comfort was Diana and the Regime League members. The Kent's and of course Batman didn't serve as a source of comfort for him. Batman focused too much on the idea of what Clark stood for rather than reaching out to the man and empathizing with him. I believe this due to the comics and how Clark was on a slippery slope, but didn't turn into the asshole he was in IGAU until maybe year 3 of the comic.
I've been have been watching your show for 6 years, anytime you come up with new episode it's been getting better each day each week and each month" and I'm saying bring on the another episode about Injustice 2 I am psyched to see that and more Batman and Superman reviews!, keep up the good work!. Losing his son AND wife by his own hands is reasonable character arc. It’s not a poor choice at all. Superman was used to destroy his own family and home town. It’s more then just Louis. Why would he be subtle about the change when he was made the villain of murdering his own family.
Im surprised you haven't talked about the comics because to me they are far superior to the game in terms of storytelling and added some much needed context which makes the game so much more enjoyable
1. An injustice anywhere is an injustice (everywhere). 2. You know, DCAU Superman wasn't a boy scout, either. 3. What is your favorite Tara Strong performance?
I'd love to see video coverage on everything pertaining to the injustice series tbh but if the comics would be a lot for that understandable. I just always enjoy getting immersed in everything these small chunks of distinct continuity have to offer. Even if there's some dips or inconsistency here and there.
This is a great video Vee , I also really like comic book discussion and videos similar to this . It would be really awesome to see you make a series on some of your favorite comic story line / arcs / or moments in the future . Cheers
I really do love this game. I hate the status quo it, and gave of “just have an evil superman, who lost Lois”. The thing they always seem to miss about. It is that in injustice, it wasn’t the fact that she died, and it wasn’t even the fact that he lost his unborn child with her, it’s a fact that superman killed his family along with thousands of innocent bystanders well under the joker’s manipulation. That’s the thing people who emulate the story tend to mess. I also have to say, I like the idea that in the world were Superman is the villain, Lex Luther will be a hero. It’s kind of interesting to think that in almost every world their enemies, regardless of who is good and evil. Although I do think injustice two did some things better than this game, especially when it came to its characterization of Superman, this game overall is the best justice league game we’ve had to date
Superman: "You weren't the gun!" In Batman's mind (at least, in some incarnations), this statement is wrong on its face. Something that both the film Batman Begins and the series Harley Quinn got astonishingly correct about Batman's origin story: in those stories, young Bruce (realistically!) feels a measure of guilt for his parents' demise, either because it was his decision to take the shortcut down Crime Alley (in Harley Quinn; he was a dumb kid, we can excuse his decision for that, though why would his parents agree?), or because it was he wanted to leave the opera early (in Batman Begins). In Batman Begins, he learns to get over that guilt; in Harley Quinn he doesn't, and it colors the kind of Batman he becomes many years later (in stupid, stupid ways, but I blame the writers for that). In general, I think young Bruce - in any incarnation - may realistically have some measure of survivor's guilt, and he may feel some measure of "they wouldn't have died if I didn't want to see 'Zorro' so badly that night." In that case, Bruce may grow into a Batman who feels like that maybe he wasn't the gun, but that he may have been a contributing factor.
In regard to Raven’s voice, I don’t think that was Tara Strong at all. I’m almost certain it was actually Lani Minella and they just miscredited Raven’s VA for some reason. Lani Minella also voiced Sindel and Sheeva in Mortal Kombat 9 and voices Ivy Valentine in the SoulCalibur series with basically the same voice as Injustice Raven.
I love this story so much. Just sucks the animated movie was the drizzling shits. BTW Vee yes do the follow up talking about the 2nd game! I hope they continue and do another game because they have the content in the comics to pull from!
The only thing I really dislike about the Injustice is how different some of the characters behave. Like the characterisation is very different to the canon verse. Ik it's an elseworld but just smtg that bothers me. Other than that I actually agree with the title.
Of course the day I'm uploading a criticism video on injustice 2(referencing your Injusticeovie review), you make a video on injustice aswell😂 Great video though Vee!
Reading these comic, it wasn't the death if Lois Lane and Metropolis that led to Superman becoming evil, but the way he was abandoned and antagonized by his best surviving friend - Batman - during his time of mourning. Then manipulated by Wonder Woman and Sinestro to become worse.
Did you read the comics? I'm just curious cuz there's more to Harley Quinn character and they even made bonus comic when the game come out about Harley Quinn
Lois isn't what just made him snap. Yes, it started his descent but he didn't just suddenly decide he was a dictator. It actually motivated him similar to batman, he wanted to enforce peace so nothing like that could happen again. He first tried to stop global wars, which lead to the United States kidnapping his parents. Then Atlantis attacked him. Then batman turned against him. He was being attacked by the people he'd come to love and trust, and as Superman became more and more afraid of being vulnerable again, he became more drastic. Justifying greater measures such as murdering an entire army to save the Earth. Lois wasn't his anchor to Earth, but she losing her to his own hand was the catalyst that lead to him being afraid. And that fear is what slowly led up to the Superman we got. His parents are even in the story actually, and they try to talk sense to him. You see the fear of losing someone in that moment too, green arrow shoots him in the shoulder but it bounces off him cause he's... Superman... And hits his dad in the shoulder, which makes him go berserk. And his parents along with his actual father are ashamed. Those teachings he had are still there at his core, but he's warped them into something else, believing himself to still be good. He even has occasionally good moments, such as when Montoya tries to fight him and he refuses to hurt her because of her heart about to give out, the way he treats his team in the beginning. All of this is to say, he didn't just suddenly flip a switch and it wasn't just Lois that turned him into what he was, but her loss greatly altered how he reacted to other tragedies in the story, of which there are several. Sorry for the super long comment but injustice is a very interesting story to me so talking about it is fun.
An Injustice Anywhere... is an injustice Now as for Superman's turn to the darkside, it wasn't a sudden event. The companion comic actually dives into that, it was by no means slow, but I wouldn't call it sudden. It was a gradual shift, starting with Superman taking a more proactive approach, being met with resistance, then replying with even more force. Rinse and repeat for a few years, a few caped heroes, and a few regime changes, and then we get Injustice: Gods Among Us.
It doesn't pay to be a Robin in the Injustice though. I'm still sad and upset that they killed Tim and Dick in the comics. Tim gets out of the Phantom Zone and Batman and Robin are united and then Lazer eyes through the chest and I was so upset 😡 and sad 😔 when that happened and DONT EVEN GET ME STARTED ON DICK'S DEATH!
In the movie I think they changed it so he feels bad about it and gives up at the end. The second game and the comic doubled down I think and he just always stayed evil even after getting overthrown and shit. Kind of a nod to both Hercules and kratos from god of war. Both went through the same thing as Superman, one went and did twelve labors to repent and get forgiveness for his actions, one went on a murder spree about it. So, I guess in a way they did both with the changes in the movie, even if I personally thought the movie sucked and was almost as disappointed as when I saw the killing joke movie do what it did. But that’s a whole different thing, good vid bro appreciated your perspective on it
In my opinion, NRS games since MK9 doesn't need any movie or cartoon adaptation. Because, it already IS a movie and a game in one. Like, they has all of the cutscenes that explains everything, and awsome gameplay for player to enjoy. So, if you want a Injustice movie, then just watch Injustice 1 and 2 cutscenes and that would be more than enough to have a good injustice movie.

The comics showing the 5 years before shows a lot and does a lot in making the games story even better
I love your content man. Watched pretty much everything. More than anything I'm a DC fan. But I'm hoping one day you make a handful of videos about Spawn. That story is right up your alley and I'd love to hear some of your content on the subject. 😊
I think it makes sense that Harley aligned against the Alternate Superman because he killed the Joker
Injustice is both the Reason why I Became a Mortal Kombat and Fighting Game Fan and Learn other DC Characters as a Whole,My Main Issues are how this Concept misguided the Evil Superman Troupe but aside from that Love this Story and Please do Injustice 2.
Great breakdown!! It would be cool to see you do Injustice 2!!
I love the Injustice story and the comics it’s just so well written to me and plus all the deaths feel so pivotal to a depressing point. Injustice really would’ve made a phenomenal dark animated series if they did properly this time
I’m still surprised to this day, that they have not announced an Injustice 3 yet.
On the technical level theres a comic that serves as an injustice 3
i ssy technically because its basically just a noncanon crossover with another company’s characters
however it does continue the story and even give it a definitive happy ending.
Wonder Woman also feels like ths villain of the injustice series with the way she enables Superman who was grieving his wife
Great interview on Fightful
"There is far and there is too far"
"Who are to judge me!?"
"You gone far enough Superman!"
- Red Hood to Superman. Injustice 2.
an injustice anywhere is an injustice
we cherish a vee infuso upload so so deeply
I've been have been watching your show for 6 years, anytime you come up with new episode it's been getting better each day each week and each month" and I'm saying bring on the another episode about Injustice 2 I am psyched to see that and more Batman and Superman reviews!, keep up the good work!. Vee Infuse #sign I am Vengeance I am the night
7:01 lol their faces, i imagine nostalagia critic saying in his batvoice "OH MY GOD"
an injustice anywhere is an injustice. great vid vee!
Because he doesnt read the comics. This guy is a Batman fan in media only
@@xyzz8722 well that sucks
@@xyzz8722
no he definitely mentions the comics in his videos
he once said that hed start reviewing comics when he felt he was qualified
"An injustice anywhere...is an injustice !!!" Stay awesome captain V.
I really hope we get injustice 3
And I hope the current cretins at DC don't screw it up. Their performance of late does NOT inspire confidence.
A fantastic Elseworlds but it unfortunately started the evil Superman trend for the next decade
An injustice anywhere is injustice.
Love your videos.
RIP Kevin Conroy
An injustice anywhere is an injustice. I would also love to see you cover the comics.
I wasn't crazy about the injustice animated adaptation when I first watched it but over time I've realized it has high re-watch value.
"An injustice anywhere is an injustice...
Superman: "You weren't the gun!"
In Batman's mind (at least, in some incarnations), this statement is wrong on its face.
Yeah, it would explain why Tara Strong’s Raven sounded different in Injustice compared to the original Teen Titans animated series.
Can't wait for Injustice II
I love this story so much. Just sucks the animated movie was the drizzling shits. BTW Vee yes do the follow up talking about the 2nd game! I hope they continue and do another game because they have the content in the comics to pull from!
Deathstroke was my favorite part of it. It was SOS ad he didn't return for the second game. Definitely talk about #2
An injustice anywhere is an injustice... anywhere. God bless
An injustice anywhere is an injustice.
The only thing I really dislike about the Injustice is how different some of the characters behave. Like the characterisation is very different to the canon verse. Ik it's an elseworld but just smtg that bothers me. Other than that I actually agree with the title.
Of course the day I'm uploading a criticism video on injustice 2(referencing your Injusticeovie review), you make a video on injustice aswell😂 Great video though Vee!
man.. those cameos at the end… i miss kevin ):
Reading these comic, it wasn't the death if Lois Lane and Metropolis that led to Superman becoming evil, but the way he was abandoned and antagonized by his best surviving friend - Batman - during his time of mourning. Then manipulated by Wonder Woman and Sinestro to become worse.
Injustice comic book was way better then both the video games and the movie
1:25 not quite, the actual gameplay of Injustice is definted by chucking projectiles 😂
"An Injustice anywhere is an Injustice"
Did you read the comics? I'm just curious cuz there's more to Harley Quinn character and they even made bonus comic when the game come out about Harley Quinn
An injustice anywhere is an injustice
"Best elseworlds story" ha! Good one.
When I look at the cause of the decent of superman at the hands of the joker I think of the killing joke of how anyone can snap after one very bad day
AN INJUSTICE ANYWHERE IS AN INJUSTICE
Yes, would love your thoughts on Injustice 2 as a fan of both games 🙂
We never see the daily life of the average human in Injustice, though. We just feel bad because supers all have to follow one lead.
AN INJUSTICE ANYWHERE IS AN INJUSTICE!!!
AN INJUSTICE ANYWHERE IS AN INJUSTICE TOO!
Despite how common evil superman is the injustice universe easily done it best
An Injustice Anywhere... is an injustice
Now as for Superman's turn to the darkside, it wasn't a sudden event.
I love injustice please make a video on the second one
Not the boondocks clip 😂
This is my favorite Superman. I love Superman as the villain. I love the writing they did for the games and comics.
Awesome
An Injustice anywhere is an Injustice
Just wanna say this that some the questions you raised regarding the story are answered in the comics
I remember Dick's death being extremely sad. Batman holding his body and with tears going down his face says "My son is dead..."
@BobPants SpongeSquare Yeah that was sad and so was Tim's can't Bruce have one Robin in the Injustice universe by his side he needs it.
Tim died? fuck. i wanted him to show up in injustice 3, guess hope is almost lost.
A injustice anywhere is a Injustice
In the movie I think they changed it so he feels bad about it and gives up at the end. The second game and the comic doubled down I think and he just always stayed evil even after getting overthrown and shit. Kind of a nod to both Hercules and kratos from god of war. Both went through the same thing as Superman, one went and did twelve labors to repent and get forgiveness for his actions, one went on a murder spree about it. So, I guess in a way they did both with the changes in the movie, even if I personally thought the movie sucked and was almost as disappointed as when I saw the killing joke movie do what it did. But that’s a whole different thing, good vid bro appreciated your perspective on it
I just read Injustice gods amnong us up to year three and it's an absolute banger!
I’m interested In A Injustice 2 Review
An INJUSTICE anywhere is an INJUSTICE (2)!
Do a follow up on INJUSTICE 2.
