The Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S 4MATIC+ is again officially certified as the fastest production car within the “executive cars” category with a lap time of 7.27.800 minutes for the legendary Nuerburgring Nordschleife (20.832 kilometers) and 7.23.009 minutes for the 20.6 kilometer variant.
The 470 kW (639 PS) Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S 4MATIC+ set a new record with completely factory equipment and it was outfitted particularly well for this challenge. Its dynamic driving characteristics are made possible by the fully variable AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive, active rear-axle steering, an electronically controlled rear-axle limited-slip differential, and the AMG DYNAMICS agility program. The Michelin Pilot Sport Cup2 tires were used during the record-breaking drive which every customer can also order as an option. These provided optimal grip, traction, and powerful acceleration out of the 73 curves in the “Green Hell." The aero package, which is also optionally available and mounted on the record-breaking vehicle, also increases stability at higher speeds and reduces the Cd value.

@@oversemper I mean 1kph is enough to increase your braking distance by 2 car lengths, especially in wet conditions. Now think about it 2 car lengths is a lot to get you off track and can cause serious injuries.

There is no 4 doors coupe. Anyone who call a 4 doors car a coupe need to check again. Coupe is 2 doors car doors and only.

Respekt, bei teilweise feuchter Farbahn diese Zeit! Gebt Maro Engel das Auto bei trockener Strecke und er ist nochmal 10 Sekunden schneller.
Nasse Flecken erhöhen Spannung und Spaß, da braucht man doch gerne 10 Sekunden länger?
Schätze eher 3-4 s sind drin. Wenn man das Video mit dem Porsche oder der 2018 Runde vergleicht, ist ersichtlich, dass der Grip bis auf wenige Stellen sehr gut war. In den schnellen Ecken verliert er gegenüber dem Porsche in Summe 2-2,5 s. Ab Wippermann fährt er dem Porsche weg.

@@morepanicboy7120 Yeah GTR pro could definitely dip into the high 6:00min if it was in dryer warmer conditions. I guess really it proves more about the car and leaves more room on the table if someone beats them.
They don’t care as much, remember when (and you can go search for this on jalopnik or anywhere else if you don’t believe me) Porsche came out and said they don’t wanna focus on lap records anymore, now they always wanna be at the top. AMG are running their cars in seemingly sub optimal conditions which is ridiculous if the best times are what they want. I like Porsche aswell but yea, I think AMG just don’t care as much, they care ALOT just not to the degree that Porsche and Lamborghini do it seems.

What's amazing about that time is not the time itself, but the fact that the lap wasn't driven perfectly, some mistakes here and there and there's no sense of driving at absolute limit on some parts of the track, and the time is still good enough for a record.

I have no doubt this would be 3-4 seconds faster on a better surface... Demian did an amazing job here.

@@Tecsy25 There is not yet a new GT2RS in the works, but a GT3 and GT3RS. And Mercedes will be going for a new record on the Nurburgring very soon with the AMG GT Black Series. They wanted to attempt it this week but bad weather stopped them from it. They will make a run in the next month or so and it will beat the GT2RS.

The Gt3 is about to be released / in prototype stage. Not what I talked about. The next gt2 rs will probably be released in the next 2 Years.
AMG GT Black Series. has some impressive Numbers but i still don't get why they cant get their 0-100 time under 3 Seconds. Gt2 RS is like 3 years old and has less HP but still beats it by like 0.5 sec ?
Lets see their round at the Nürburgring. I would be highly surprised if it beat the Gt2 RS tho. But it would be time after 3 Years.

@keV Wolf Sport auto has done a supertest of the heavier E63s Estate. The result is 7:45. I would say if it's a sedan and officially done by AMG its time would be around 7:35.

Awesome! Second favorite sedan (behind the 2015 E63s) on my first favorite track. I’ve been waiting for this video since the GT63 came out. It’s an absolutely fun beast to drive. Now I’ll have to wait until the GT73s - they’ll have an S-model for that, right? 😀

I own an SL63 R231 and always wondered what is the best driving mode for the track. Here, it looks like the driver is overriding downshifts, whilst leaving the upshift to automatic; I guess he’s in sport plus, and not manual? Would be very interesting to know whether ESP was in Sport or Off?

Because Mercedes gets a Day for where they can rent the track and they cant predict the weather as it changes really rapidly here in the eifel
I’d rather say 3-4 s quicker would be possible, if you compare the 2020 run to 2018 run or even to Panamera. The overall grip, where it is dry seems to be good. For example, after section Wippermann the AMG is much faster than the Panamera. It’s a technical sector, so either grip is very good or they use better tires than Porsche, but according to the label, both tires should be similar. The AMG loses time in the high Speed corners due to the conditions. Hope to see AMG do another lap in dry conditions.

Think about this, this car is heavier than the Tesla Model S Plaid, it has 400hp less, isn't on semi-slick tires, is considerably slower in a straight line, AND it's driving on a track that's half-wet in some places, yet is faster around the track in total. In perfect conditions this car would do 7:15 or close to that.
