Great video thanks! What's the reason that you don't like Selitta? And what's the problem with overwinding Selitta movements? Any known problem or something you've "only" seen yourself?
I do like the SW200-1 Top Grade movement, but you do have to be careful not to over wind by hand as the gears can strip , they did improve things with the -1 version and I've had to replace the reverse wheels on two before but they were lower spec models of the movement Iko . If you type in SW200 problems on the net you will see many of these Sir
@@ClickSpringReview Thanks! Yes I did some research and found the problem. I got a little worried since I own a Marathon GSAR (for about $2000) and a Sinn U50 S BS (for about $3000) which both uses Selitta movements. But thanks for the information and the reply!
I prefer the white second hand much more myself as you say it looks cleaner ,you can always ask Sinn to change the hand for a red one when you send in for a service at a later date .Sinn are pretty good like that
Great video. Have you had an issues yet with the SW-200-1 movement? Been paranoid about that same movement in my U1. No issues so far, and I typically keep it on a winder as to mitigate any issues from hand winding. Sorry to say the fear of damaging the movement from simply hand winding "too much" has me a bit nervous about the quality and reliability of the movement as a whole.
I understand were your coming from as I've had a SW-200 movement fail before from hand winding but that wasn't a Sinn model , I only wind it a few turns before wearing it and then let my wrist do the rest , I'm not so keen on watch winders and even did a video explaining why on my channel about a year ago , The SW-200 isnt the best it has to be said .
@@ClickSpringReview Thanks for the reply. I did watch that video actually. Kind of torn between the wear the winder may produce (even though it has the 650 turn per day setting) and the unscrewing of the crown then hand winding a bit just to start it. I don't wear the U1 everyday; safe to say maybe 2x a week. Curious if you have any opinion on this updated version of the 200-1 variety as opposed to the older 200. I've read they claim to have addressed the issue but some say the problem persists.
@@wwolf5670 The 200-1 has a improved teeth profile as I remember so should be stronger , I find just a few turns of the crown and your good to go so I wouldn’t worry too much chap 👍🏻
Hi Sir glad you liked the video , I prefer the cleaner look to this model over the RS model , just like I prefer the UX GSG9 with its white second over the standard one with its red one
The watch feels solid the winding is the same as all SW200 movements good but they don’t like to be hand wound a lot , the screw down is also good as there is a good few turns until it’s down , Time keeping is excellent and within COSC standards Jurgen 👍🏻
When was the 556ARS first in market and was it the latest issue? What is the price of 557ARS in the current market? Is it used ETA 2824-2 as movement ? If not , is it better or worse than ETA?
Hi the 556RS has been out for over a year now it’s the same as the 556A it just has a red second hand , I prefer the white myself in the Uk on a leather strap it’s about £975 on a bracelet £1275 , The watch is powered by the Sellita SW200-1 top grade and is a copy of the ETA 2824 there isn’t any difference
Two things that i dont like is as you said the small Data Window and the flat Front Glass. Over all iam very happy with my 556 a rs specialy with the tidy dial and what quality you get for the price. 1 Thing i have to correct you, Its not possible to overwind this clock movment
You are right sir you can’t over wind the movement after all it’s an automatic and is always being wound on the wrist but the movement doesn’t like to be hand wound so much as it’s a known problem with the SW200-1 movement that’s why I only give it a few turns and like my wrist do the rest FS16 👍🏻
Personally I prefer the non-numerical version as there is too much going on with this one, but my only peeve with that version is the 12 O'clock position does not have anything to differentiate it from the other indicies and in low light when checking the time you can easily made a mistake when reading the time in the dark. At least change the lume colour at 12 position to blue.
I don't mind it to be fair I also had the fine link on my 556 Anniversary model but couldn't get on with it as it had no micro adjustment , I also like it on the Sinn Rubber strap or a nice rustic leather strap John
@@ClickSpringReview The divers clasp is superfluous because no one is going to use a 556 over a wetsuit. It’s therefore purely for show, which goes against the otherwise utilitarian nature of the watch. Mine also worked loose, which in turn led to it almost being swept off my wrist by a wave while swimming in the sea.
@@johnreynolds6369 Wow thats unusual there normally pretty solid after all these types of clasps has be used for years by the likes of Rolex on there older submarine , I wearing one at the min on an old EZM2 there not high tec thats for sure but there slim and easy to manipulate , now a days clasps are getting thicker and longer , The standard clasp for the rubber strap from Sinn is already just longer than the 556 its self and almost as thick as the watch to , I personally use the smaller butterfly clasp with my rubber strap for it
My 556a is also within 1 second per day in normal use. I spent about 30 minutes vigorously polishing a set of snooker balls (lol) and noticed my watch gained 10 seconds in that 30 minute session. As I say in normal use it’s spot on. Is that usual?
What's its time keeping like now ? if its gone back to 1s or so I'd say its ok . 30mins of vibration could easily mess up the time keeping of any mechanical watch remember the balance wheel is only a small circle of brass with a hair spring at its centre rotating back and forth , PS I hope your balls came out nice and shiny :)
I prefer the clean lay out of the dial on the Sinn I wasn't a fan of the cyclops on the Ball put it does have its cool tritium and anti magnetic protection , The Sinn's lume isn't bad at all both use an ETA 2824 movement or SW200 which is based on the ETA , The Sinn is more a tool watch with its 200m WR and bracelet having micro adjustment , The Ball is more dressy , Price rise the Sinn is cheaper but I found you can get deals on Ball watches if you ask round , Its down to you on this one Matt, I like the Sinn more myself but thats just me
Must be the light MGM it’s not gloss but somewhere in between I’d say ps I did another video comparing it to my other 556 which maybe worth checking out

@ClickSpringReview Do you know anything solid about the rumoured new clasps and for what models we will be getting first? Oh, and thanks for vids. You are the reason I found Sinn and bought a U1 a few years back. Awesome brand
@@ClickSpringReview Yes, I’d watched that and a further three other videos you have made on the Sinn 556 A. I wouldn’t choose the 556 i because my Rolex Oysterdate and my Geneve gold dress watch both have baton indices already, and I’d want a more pilot’s watch / explorer / ranger style watch. i have this watch, precision is crazy +2s a day even my COSC dont do that ... just one thing i want is the metal strap, i dont like leather one.... but metal strap is very expensive for an original one ...
I always order a new watch on a bracelet over a strap as it works out cheaper in the long run , The bracelet is around 230 euros new I think which I think isn't so bad
I’d take the Top Grade SW200-1 over the Powermatic 80 everyday of the week as the SW 200 is a 4hz movement and has 8 beats per sec and the Powermatic only beats 6x a sec like a Seiko 5 does Plus you can’t regulated the PM 80 movement yourself I believe
The problem is the clasps . The price of the bracelet is almost $300 . If I get it I will get it on the leather strap . Then just change it out if I need a different look .
I like the date personally as for a quick adjustment clasp would be nice but only if it isnt thicker and the cost doesn't rise more to much , How much more do you think is acceptable for a newer clasp system PKO ?, I'm guess £150/200 as this is the price of there standard clasps for the Silicone strap with adjustment but its not the best to to be fair
thanks. great review. ive just bought the mop one on the same bracelet but considered this one. also just watched a review with the new formex 38 chronometer but consider the 556 to be twice the watch because of the brand provenance and also cheaper. The movement sinn use for these is also top grade which is essentially the same as the chronometer grade but without the certificate ( small factoid )
I literally just got my 556i and it has been on wrist for one week... the watch is built like a tank with perfect size dimensions . It has a very antiseptic look to it, the coloring of the steel is very light. The clasp is garbage very tinny sounding and disappointing to be honest . Time keeping is spot on at a range now of -2 to +4 .
I know what you saying but B&R do also have there own look , Yes they ask asked Sinn to help them get started back and they still have the 12 ,3,6,9 dial lay out but so do Panerai which are older then both brands Sir

Hi George, Micro brands will always offer better value than the bigger named Brands as they don't employ 100s of staff , I have a Breitling Colt which has the same movement as the 556 and that costs £2800 which is around £1500 more than the Sinn and for that all you get is a rotating bezel extra , So if you look at it that way the 556 is a bargain :)
dude are you new to watches or something?...do you have any idea how many thousands of dollars you gotta spend to get an automatic watch thats keeping 1second + - per day?....rolex has that and they grab your ass for 10s of thousands Crappy seikos costing that much with 10 seconds per day movements...I GET that you might not like plain dials or whatever BUT NOT IN ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM THIS RELIABLE DAILY DRIVER WATCH IS OVERPRICED
it only applies to sellita sw200 because the cog teeth are more triangle and have been known to shear when winding. the shape of the teeth are meant to make for smoother connection unlike the square ones of the eta but it was later found that the shearing could be an issue maybe because they are finer pointed. by all accounts, its not that common, just dont overwind. i recently experienced what i think was the same problem with an oris 65 which use the lower grade standard caliber. thats why ill not buy an oris at their prices ! it may only be a problem with standard caliber which are not used in the 556
@@vonyp6018 Sorry for the late repair ,2 years lol but I'm now a watchmaker working service centre and the 2824 has the same problem its normally when the reversing wheels jam up and it put to much stress on the racket wheel, I just serviced a Oris 65 only last week
I feel that way about the Ranger which is over double the price of the Sinn , The Tudor has long rounded lugs for its case size and under 100m of WR which the Sinn has double off. Plus it doesn't have any crown guards . If you were going to pay almost £3k I'm not sure why the would be looking at the Sinn 556 anyway ?
I have a Breitling Colt 41 with a ETA2824 which let’s face it is the same movement and that cost £2800 , The cheapest watch I know with the SW200 would be about £500 so £1200 doesn’t sound that bad
The one good thing with the clasp is its thin , I have the new Breitling Colt 41 which costs way over double the price of the 556 and that has the same type of clasp fitted to it

Hi Gavin, Ive reviewed both watches here is a review of the blue and black dial 104 which may help but I've also a white dial review also th-cam.com/video/uVzicfBFIEA/w-d-xo.htmlsi=5iGjgAJ5vRTJwIQr , there is also an 556 RS video on the channel , If you already have a collection of watches I'd possibly say get the 556 but my favourite of the two is the 104 as it looks and feels a lot more expensive than it is , Ive about 5 videos of each model on the channel 👍🏻
Beautiful watches! Love the fact of the 3,6,9 and 12 on. Very important numbers for those who know what they mean. 👍👍❤️
Still no idea what they mine North South East West ?
@@ikonane I've not had the problem happen to any of my Sinn so far and its only the SW200-1 movement not the 300 which is in your U50 iko
@@ClickSpringReview Ah I got it. Thanks!
My only problem is, do I get the 556 A or the 556 A RS??? The white seconds hand looks so much cleaner. Hmm
I prefer the white second hand much more myself as you say it looks cleaner ,you can always ask Sinn to change the hand for a red one when you send in for a service at a later date .Sinn are pretty good like that
I would like to see it side by side with the Explorer
I did do a video comparing the 556 and the OP 39 which you may like Sir th-cam.com/video/kHbTvqevFic/w-d-xo.html
@@ClickSpringReview Appreciate it! Great video as always.
@@wwolf5670 Thanks mate 👍🏻
nice video TOW. There's not enough out there on this watch. Question though. Why did you opt not to get the RS version?
Hi Sir glad you liked the video , I prefer the cleaner look to this model over the RS model , just like I prefer the UX GSG9 with its white second over the standard one with its red one
how is the quality of the watch? you dont talk about the winding action or the screwdown thread action.. is it well made?
Is this watch scratch resistant, I understand some Sinn versions are. I like the black version of this watch.
Hi John this model doesn't, The scratch resistant ones have the Tegiment tech applied to the metal, all the black models have this is tech Sir
Thats a fair comment Sir
A double "pip" or indice at 12 would work
Too much going on here ? I suggest that you check the H Moser Venturer, which will be more fitting then.
In Frankfurt this week and may grab one
You won't regret it, I maybe there later in the year again 👍🏻
The diver’s clasp on this bracelet lets it down. I changed mine for a fine link bracelet
@@johnreynolds6369 Wow thats unusual there normally pretty solid after all these types of clasps has be used for years by the likes of Rolex on there older submarine , I wearing one at the min on an old EZM2 there not high tec thats for sure but there slim and easy to manipulate , now a days clasps are getting thicker and longer , The standard clasp for the rubber strap from Sinn is already just longer than the 556 its self and almost as thick as the watch to , I personally use the smaller butterfly clasp with my rubber strap for it
The blacked out hands are called "Ghost hands", thanks for the good video
Cheers Bill glad you enjoy the video
@@ClickSpringReview Yes all back to within a second per day. Worth remembering to remove your watch during exercise….or ball polishing 😂
This is just about my favourite watch I own. What are your thoughts on the Sinn U50?
Great review and would certainly recommend this piece !
The U50 I really like the look of but I need to see one in person before I can fully recommend one ,
Great review and comparison video.. Would love to see a U200
Thanks and I'll have to try and get hold of a U200 at some point
@@ClickSpringReview just give me the real advantage prewarning so that if the size is for me I can snatch one before the gold rush
How does this compare with the Ball Marvel Light you reviewed?
I have this, the Ball and the Longines Spirit on my list at the moment.
I prefer the clean lay out of the dial on the Sinn I wasn't a fan of the cyclops on the Ball put it does have its cool tritium and anti magnetic protection , The Sinn's lume isn't bad at all both use an ETA 2824 movement or SW200 which is based on the ETA , The Sinn is more a tool watch with its 200m WR and bracelet having micro adjustment , The Ball is more dressy , Price rise the Sinn is cheaper but I found you can get deals on Ball watches if you ask round , Its down to you on this one Matt, I like the Sinn more myself but thats just me
@@ClickSpringReview I think the Sinn edges the Ball for me, the Longines Spirit is also in contention.
Great reviews.
@@Vow247 Thanks Matt let me know which one you go for in the end

Will do.
Dial looks gloss black in ur video did they change it recently from the greyish matt finish i see in other videos?
Must be the light MGM it’s not gloss but somewhere in between I’d say ps I did another video comparing it to my other 556 which maybe worth checking out
how does this watch compare to the Rolex explorer? sorry if this has been asked before
Not exactly what you asked for, but I did compare my old Sinn 556 Anniversary model to my Rolex OP39 , here's the link th-cam.com/video/kHbTvqevFic/w-d-xo.htmlsi=lMRXf3swHoQM76Iy

@@ClickSpringReview Ok, decision made. Thanks
@ClickSpringReview Do you know anything solid about the rumoured new clasps and for what models we will be getting first?
Oh, and thanks for vids. You are the reason I found Sinn and bought a U1 a few years back. Awesome brand
I am thinking about getting either this Sinn 556 A or the Sinn 556 A RS. Which would you choose if you could start over?
I'd still go for the 556A the red just doesn't do it for me at all , Did you see my 556A vs 556I video ?
@@ClickSpringReview Yes, I’d watched that and a further three other videos you have made on the Sinn 556 A. I wouldn’t choose the 556 i because my Rolex Oysterdate and my Geneve gold dress watch both have baton indices already, and I’d want a more pilot’s watch / explorer / ranger style watch. I think I’ll store my Rolex and just wear it on high days and special occasions because recently it’s got a lot more undue attention in public.
@@Englishman_in_Taipei I did a review ages ago were I compared my 556 anniversary model I had once with my Rolex OP39 Red maybe something 556 and Rolex based you may also like, but it is an old one so not in the same league as my new videos , I still think you made the right choice 👍🏻th-cam.com/video/kHbTvqevFic/w-d-xo.html

Awesome video man! Can I ask what's the weight of this watch? Also, whats the model of the Sinn you already had on your wrist? Cheers!
Hi ya on its comes in at 144g sir on the bracelet sized for my 7.25'' wrist . The one in the video on my wrist already is the 556 Anniversary LE model , hope this helps
@@ClickSpringReview brilliant! thanks very much man! Def gonna look at Sinn 😁
i have this watch, precision is crazy +2s a day even my COSC dont do that ... just one thing i want is the metal strap, i dont like leather one.... but metal strap is very expensive for an original one ...
I always order a new watch on a bracelet over a strap as it works out cheaper in the long run , The bracelet is around 230 euros new I think which I think isn't so bad
i wish there's a version with powermatic80 instead
I’d take the Top Grade SW200-1 over the Powermatic 80 everyday of the week as the SW 200 is a 4hz movement and has 8 beats per sec and the Powermatic only beats 6x a sec like a Seiko 5 does
Plus you can’t regulated the PM 80 movement yourself I believe
The problem is the clasps . The price of the bracelet is almost $300 . If I get it I will get it on the leather strap . Then just change it out if I need a different look .
I really don’t mind the clasp as it’s thin and works well, my Breitling Colt 41 is double the price and has a similar clasp David
i would say the date is everyday requirement &Lum should be for a pilot watch !
I wear my watch at night when I sleep and so need a watch with lum to tell the time if a wake Mole, a watch with out it isn't much use to me Sir
no date and quick adjustment clasp - it would be perfect
I like the date personally as for a quick adjustment clasp would be nice but only if it isnt thicker and the cost doesn't rise more to much , How much more do you think is acceptable for a newer clasp system PKO ?,
I'm guess £150/200 as this is the price of there standard clasps for the Silicone strap with adjustment but its not the best to to be fair
Beautiful watch
It really is, everything about this model just feels right
Beautiful watch!
I think so to Pitbul just a simple honest watch done right
Thank you!
You're welcome!
It's irresistible, but its big sister 856 is even more so. Especially the ones with just hash marks in lieu of numerals
Both are great looking watches Sir nice one 👍🏻
thanks. great review. ive just bought the mop one on the same bracelet but considered this one. also just watched a review with the new formex 38 chronometer but consider the 556 to be twice the watch because of the brand provenance and also cheaper. The movement sinn use for these is also top grade which is essentially the same as the chronometer grade but without the certificate ( small factoid )
The Formex is also an interesting watch but I wouldn’t pick it over the Sinn like yourself ps glad you liked the review I do enjoy making them
I literally just got my 556i and it has been on wrist for one week... the watch is built like a tank with perfect size dimensions . It has a very antiseptic look to it, the coloring of the steel is very light. The clasp is garbage very tinny sounding and disappointing to be honest . Time keeping is spot on at a range now of -2 to +4 .
Glad you enjoying it I'm really happy with my one also just feels right on the wrist
So would you recommend the other metal band without that cheap clasp?
Sinn is the company Bell & Ross is trying to be. Except "Add square cases!"
I know what you saying but B&R do also have there own look , Yes they ask asked Sinn to help them get started back and they still have the 12 ,3,6,9 dial lay out but so do Panerai which are older then both brands Sir
@@ClickSpringReview Yeah, I don't want to sound like I'm hating on B&R. I love the V1-92. That domed crystal is
A mio gusto il quadrante manca di profondità, sarebbe stato migliore con indici ad applicati e a rilievo.

Sinn, please offer this watch in 36mm!
I love the way it looks so much but feels so incredibly overpriced for how plain it is
Hi George, Micro brands will always offer better value than the bigger named Brands as they don't employ 100s of staff , I have a Breitling Colt which has the same movement as the 556 and that costs £2800 which is around £1500 more than the Sinn and for that all you get is a rotating bezel extra , So if you look at it that way the 556 is a bargain :)
The bracelet is the problem. It is almost $300 of the cost . That is crazy !
dude are you new to watches or something?...do you have any idea how many thousands of dollars you gotta spend to get an automatic watch thats keeping 1second + - per day?....rolex has that and they grab your ass for 10s of thousands Crappy seikos costing that much with 10 seconds per day movements...I GET that you might not like plain dials or whatever BUT NOT IN ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM THIS RELIABLE DAILY DRIVER WATCH IS OVERPRICED
@@davidcoleman2796 Rolex and AP bracelets will set you back $2000
Don't get it, sorry. Wise, the ETA2824 and all it's derivatives don't appreciate being hand wound
It’s true I only wind the crown a few times and let my wrist do the rest , The watch just feels so solid and classy I find
it only applies to sellita sw200 because the cog teeth are more triangle and have been known to shear when winding. the shape of the teeth are meant to make for smoother connection unlike the square ones of the eta but it was later found that the shearing could be an issue maybe because they are finer pointed. by all accounts, its not that common, just dont overwind. i recently experienced what i think was the same problem with an oris 65 which use the lower grade standard caliber. thats why ill not buy an oris at their prices ! it may only be a problem with standard caliber which are not used in the 556
@@vonyp6018 Sorry for the late repair ,2 years lol but I'm now a watchmaker working service centre and the 2824 has the same problem its normally when the reversing wheels jam up and it put to much stress on the racket wheel, I just serviced a Oris 65 only last week
The date completely ruins this watch.
I really like the date position and size myself
The 556a is the better version of tudor ranger
I agree David
Next stop, the Explorer.
I lot of people say but I think the Sinn looks a little more of a tool watch over the Rolex, maybe because it doesn't have any polishing on the case
And they call the Tudor ranger boring this watch puts me to sleep… I guess I’m buying the ranger.
200 meters, not mm...lol
I don’t know we’re got the mm from sir go to 6:10 and I clearly say 200m 🤔 I think you must of miss heard what I said , no worries 👍🏻
I would prefer no date on that face
Like the look of the watch but £1200 pounds for a watch with a cheap Sellita watch movement....no thanks
I have a Breitling Colt 41 with a ETA2824 which let’s face it is the same movement and that cost £2800 , The cheapest watch I know with the SW200 would be about £500 so £1200 doesn’t sound that bad
Its a top grade SW200-2 the same as what you get in the new Fears Aurora which costs £3880
Great watch... worst clasp.
The one good thing with the clasp is its thin , I have the new Breitling Colt 41 which costs way over double the price of the 556 and that has the same type of clasp fitted to it
