Sinn's New Adjustable Clasp, But Is It Any Good ?
I have an SBBN007. It’s my favorite due to the metal finish bezel and dial. The crop circles and uncluttered script is just so much cleaner than the Marinemaster branded dials.
I recently bought a Damasko DC-72 (with green chrono hands). I am delighted. Thank you Damasko. On my timegrapher, I measured its accuracy to range between 0 spd and 1 spd amongst the six positions. The hands are perfectly aligned. There is no disruptive 'jump' of the second hand when engaging the chronograph. Under the watchmaker loupe, the dial and hands are immaculate, without a nick or speck of dust. I awoke last night at 3am; the lume on the hands and indices were clearly glowing and visible in the darkness of my bedroom. The surface hardened finish on its stainless steel case gives it the appearance of sandblasted titanium - grey and without any sparkle. This is perfectly finished and colored as a 'field watch' or 'tool watch'. The watch is rated for 10 ATM / 100 meters water resistance. The crown is screw down. I read from Damasko's website that the chronograph pushers can be activated under water - this is rare for chronographs. I can 'feel' the bushing (gaskets) on the crown and pushers - suggesting confirmation of its water proofness. The best part of the chronograph is that, when the chrono is not activated, the chrono is almost non-existent ... there are no sub-dials, since the chrono hands are center stacked. This German-made watch clearly upholds the principles and promise of 'German engineering'. The watch is foremost an instrument of function (tool watch). It is made with high grade stainless steel with a surface hardening treatment. The crystal is sapphire, and protected with a bezel that guards the edge of the crystal. The crown is large and properly knurled - giving an easy and positive grip (purchase) when winding. The self-winding rotor obviates any attention from the daily wearer. The dial is clean, without any script, save for the manufacturer ("Damasko"). The hands are pronounced. I can read the time with a brief flick of my wrist and fleeting gaze of my eyes; this is rare for a chronograph, which usually has a dial cluttered with sub-dials. The leather watch strap has a nice thread stitching that has a green finishing thread that compliments the green of the chronograph hands. The underside of the strap has a rubber surface adhered to the leather; this should give the leather some protection against sweat off my wrist. I have added two third-party watch straps. One is a thick suede leather strap with a butterfly deployant strap; this is for style and convenience of daily fitting. The other is a rubber strap with pin/buckle; this is for heavy sports and swimming. I have a watch collection, including various styles and brands. This Damasko 'field watch', with very capable '100m swimming' and rugged construction, it has become one of my most frequent daily watches. I have since sold my Tudor BlackBay 58 in preference for the Damasko.
Overall, it is a great looking watch. Unfortunately, the user experience of the crown would bug the piss out of me😂
It wouldn't be on my shopping list
Wow hideous but for a very different reason Ball was associated before. 🤔
Its definitely an acquire taste lets say :)
What a brilliant little watch. Tissot reading the market and delivering 👏 If I was being picky, a screw down crown to give it 100m wr? A few more colour options, off white/champagne/cream with black numerals?
There is a salmon dial option available as I remember, you can still have a 100mm WR without a screw down crown Jack
15mm is a deal breaker. 😢
Thats the norm for a chrono Sir
For clarity do you wind the watch CW or CCW? I have the tungsten titanium version of this and CW seems so stiff and yet CCW does nothing. The manual is silent. Thx
Hi Charles it should be clockwise to wind it , how old is the watch ?
I do love the tritium but it's a big unit.
I'm a 100% sure they could of made it thinner Thomas no idea why they didn't
What an absolute unit of a watch. I love to see Ball covered as they are a very underrated appreciated brand who make some really high quality pieces. Way too big for my wrist but still cool to see it.
I've not reviewed a Ball for a few months now but I've many Ball videos on the channel
Chunky monkey and it's curious the very mixed reaction to Ball here in the uk, that crown would start to irk though 😅
This really isn't for me, but I thought being as its new it would pull in the views and how I was wrong LOL
Thanks for the review, you dont see many channels doing anything on this brand. it didnt look to bad on you considering that lug to lug measurement.
Cheers I always try and be as detailed as I can Erik
Hi Barry, not for me thanks... Have a good weekend, LG Bob 🍻
Fair enough Bob its not my cup of tea either but being a new release I thought it could be worth reviewing 🫣
Hmmm.
Yeah I heard you
Tough one !!
Yeah its not for me but I know Ball do a have a big following out there so thought it was worth showing
Great to see a Ball watches being reviewed, so under appreciated & overlooked. This one's not to my taste but they do some nice looking watches & I have 2x Ball watches ( Fnarr Fnarr) & they are very well built, 1x I've had for a long time & still looks great (Oyster style case) & the other is a current day date moon calendar (white dial with blue sub dial) which I have put on a blue Crocodile strap & it looks so good! Also, a big 👍🏻 to First Class Watches, I picked up my 1st black Sinn UX GSG9 on bracelet from them at a crazy price during a Bank Holiday sale & i don't think that price will ever be beaten. Keep up the great content.
Cool and glad to hear it, they offer some good prices its has to be said
Have their Dsub50 which is the black case version. Overall i just like the direction they're going in terms of quality. Did you see Longislandwatch's video about how they do their movement? ETA based, but changed parts out with hardened parts using their hardening technology. Not sure that's good or not, but it sounds it should be solid.
I've check out the video as I'm interested to find out more about the movement
A fantastic release however the 19mm lugs could be a dealbreaker for me. 😢
Honestly I wouldn't let that put you of, its a cracking watch
Nice watch, looks similar styling to the Certina DS phantom but cooler- not sure if I like the lugless design as it’s a bit of a Seiko Tuna vibe ( the one seiko i but the dials stunning and the fact it’s a 2024 reissue of a 2001 reissued 1960’s style issue is brilliant 😂
these watches are fantastic.
Timeless classic I think this will end up being a very sort after model form the brand
There's definitely a need to keep things clean but it really looks like the surface you're working on is rather dusty.
I fully agree 4 years on and after studying clock and watchmaking full time at University I'm now a professional watchmaker working in the Jewellery Quarter
@ClickSpringReview Hot damn. Well done!
Cheers Sir
This is what IWC should be 😂
Yeah thats true
I wish they would do it in the 35mm, i would buy one right now no questions ask
I have the carbon model in at the min for review but unfortunately its the regular size also
Super cool. Has the same vibes as a Bulova Oceanographer, but with a much better movement.
Yeah I'd take the Squale over the Bulova this one one felt pretty special
Did he just say clone?
when ??
It’s a very good looking watch. Soes it has a ghost date position?
I can't remember of hand but I normally show if there is in the review Sir
Again you're pushing my interest in squale upwards 😅 the dial aperture looks quite small but the hands still seem clear, 19 mil lugs tho are an odd choice 😎👍
LOL This one just works there is something about and I'm sure it's going to be a cult classic for them in the future. Its has just enough vintage vibe to it to make it interesting put also feels just so comfortable on the wrist , what can I say other than I like it :)
@ClickSpringReview need to get one in for review asap 😅
great looking piece
I'd say their best, just a shame there are only 300 being made
I like that look but it looks like Squale isn't the only one with the same design. Zodiac and Edox had the exactly design in their catalog.
I had a look at Zodiac and couldn't find a lugless diving model and I don't follow Edox, which models are you thinking of Sir ??
@@ClickSpringReview That will be Zodiac Super Sea Wolf 68 which looks exactly same and for Edox it is Hydro -Sub I can't find the exact reference number because they have few models under that name. Hydro-Sub isn't exactly same because even that the case is same, logs are shown.
I used to own the Zodiac Super Sea Wolf 68 50th Le great watch 👍🏻 but both model you mentioned have crowns at 3 o'clock the Edox has end links which run though the case and neither have a orange and black bezel, but they have a similar vibe I guess
Gorgeous if you only want 1 squale this is it
Yes this would be it, I'd like one myself John
The U2's my grail.
Its an over looked model, good choice 👍🏻
Man i just can’t get this watch off my hand its been 5 days straight since i got it lol
Lucky guy its a great watch 👍🏻
Over 2k for a Selita based diver is just madness.
Why is that ? Breitling has a ETA2824 in the Colt model and that used to be £2,800
Even the Sinn U5o uses a SW300 movement and thats 3K Jack
This is not a simple diving watch reissue but literally a blast. It is stunning as watch. Moreover, a small case was used: 2001. The 2002 is too chunky and bold. This is perfect on the wrist. My only concern is the lug to lug 19 mm, but for the rest, it is a SUPER watch!!
This was just one of them watches which felt just right on the wrist I really liked it
@@ClickSpringReview you reviews are spot on!!! 💗💖
Cheers and thank you :)
Did they improve the AR on the white dial variant or do you still see your reflection whenever you look at the watch?
No I think its the same to be fair
@@ClickSpringReview Thank you for your reply! Missed opportunity by Hamilton, unfortunately it will be a hard pass for me then.
its a real shame they have over looked this
Hi! I'm going to try this. My ultra deep and oris prodiver got their AR smudged... as in not scratches, but large smudges.looks like water stains. Since both are pretty thick watches, they apparently touch the glass cover of the winder. Tried strong- arming it with no luck. I'm now waiting for a dremel to arrive. 🤞
Let me know how it goes, its pretty straight forward 👍🏻
1:45 not DVD. VHS tape! 🙂
I do correct myself at 2;04 Sir 😁
@@ClickSpringReview Yes you are right, I saw it later, sorry. BTW I love your videos and your Sinn watches. Just bought the U50 Hydro after seeing your videos about it.👍👍
Cool the Hydro is great watch Enjoy 👍🏻
Great video! Does the bead blasting pose a problem for refinishing the watch (eventually)? As I understand it, is stronger than the usual but not as strong as the tegimented. Thanks!
It's only a little bit stronger than normal, I refinished my EZM1 once many years back you just need a sand blaster with fine beads, most normally have coarse for removing rust this won't work. This is something I'm thinking of investing in and offering a refinishing service at some point
Do you find you can see scratches more than on the regular satin?
If you do scratch it, it will be more noticeable but mine still look great after many years
Is that a blue bezel?
Nope many years ago it would of been black but the UV light has turned blue
SBB CFF FFS are Swiss railways in the three languages.....
Cheers for the info Paul
Both have a small amount of AR.
Looks like something they do with improving on then Paul
Is that a Sinn U50 rubber strap on the 856?
Nope in the video you can see its marked up 865 Dean
Just checking in Barry it has been a while hope all is well. I was just looking at this watch on Francis & Gaye! Then i thought let me see if Barry done a vid! And boom 💥 its your last video! Didn't have to look far! Thanks again👊🏿
Good to hear from you again as you say its been sometime and when it comes Sinn's there's only one channel :) PS I'm now partnered up with First Class Watches of Kenilworth
@ClickSpringReview Great stuff that's definitely a good partnership. I'll be checking in. 👊🏿💯
Anyone can tell if it's recommended to have this watch serviced by any watchmaker? IE will the watch continue working normally even without the special gas inside?
The movement in the older ones is an ETA 2892 and newer ones an SW300-1 I've serviced money of these and can honestly say it will work perfectly without the gas inside Sir
@@ClickSpringReview Great! Appreciate the fast reply. Also, is it possible to confirm the model indeed uses a top grade movement inside prior to purchasing it? Didnt see any mentions of this on the official Sinn website. Been really eyeing on the black 856 with a black bracelet. Such a cool watch.
They normally are and thats one of the reasons why they always do so well on the timegrapher , I've not reviewed a Sinn which is over +5s a day and I've a 150 Sinn videos on the channel
Want a 556 F-4 Phantom II edition? Looking to sell mine
Thanks Sir but I've just got myself a Black 656 so no watches for the foreseeable future unfortunately
Oris watches get overlooked a lot of the time , but you really couldnt get a better watch for your money, very well made, lots of history, swiss made etc . Cheers for the review..by the way the older model is my pick but both are awesome watches.
True, what do you think of their new calibre is it worth the extra 1000 over the standard ones as you can get it in a 65 diver but instead of £2k its £3k ?
@ClickSpringReview I still say it's a good buy , plus it gives you a choice, buy the new caliber or stick with the older one !
I would love to see the other colours as well 🤩
Here is my review of the Black dial one :) th-cam.com/video/0zrdkLQXFbs/w-d-xo.htmlsi=22cuL7eYa2augq7H if you check my channel out you will find over 150 Sinn videos 👍🏻
I feel like a dark grey, matte, ceramic, bezel insert would be the best out of all versions.
Its a shame they don't make Sir
I appreciate you for this
Anytime Chris
