Dear TGV, I actually just finished a road-trip that "happened" to stop over Titisee and Gütenbach for a few days with my wife :) We visited the museum and showroom on Wednesday afternoon accompanied by one of the Hanhart watchmakers , saw the new Preventor HD12 sample and decided to buy it, but unfortunately no completed watch was available. Moved by our eagerness, the watchmaker told me that he would make one before our departure back home on Friday. He especially assembled it on Thursday and on Friday morning, we spent a marvelous moment with Simon Hall and the Hanhart team while taking ownership of my new watch! What a precious memory, that I have associated to the superb watch I have worn for two days now! Since there is a lot more context and details for it, I sent you the full story by email with pictures. Thanks a lot for this superb collaboration!
So sorry I missed this comment, a truly a wonderful story and testament to how great they are. Thank you so so much for sharing that. I will share this with my family too. I hope you enjoy the new watch, my very best to you and your wife. Onwards and ever upwards my friend! TGV
You know--I believed that I wouldn't be thinking of buying another watch again, not for a very long time...but the black dial Preventor HD12 has absolutely changed my mind! So genuinely GORGEOUS. ❤
“This watch, that watch” has to be the best analytical no BS watch channel now. Britt Pierce and Adrian (Bark and Jack) both entertaining and seem to be very impartial with great perspectives. With the military heritage I wonder if Watches of Espionage would be interested as well?
Absolutely, this is why we really pushed to get it as affordable as possible, it's so important for the future, few understand this unfortunately and only think of short term profits, but Hanhart seem to get it. They deserve to be first choice ahead of all the great brands you mention IMO. 🙏😎 Thank you, onwards and upwards! Best regards, TGV
@@theurbangentry I like the legibility of the piece, the cathedral hands, the style of the numeric markers and of course the dimensions and specifications. However I am thorn between the blue and the black dials. Somehow the black looks more Germanic though.
Sinn watches at $1k doesn't have tegimented steel though, you have to go up to around $1500 and up to get those pieces. This watch has their own implementation of steel hardening technology for cheaper.
I had the absolute pleasure of visiting Hanhart earlier this year. I purchased a 42mm reverse panda for my large wrist. The watch is fantastic, but the experience was unforgettable. Walking through the facility, having the watchmaker grab an uncased movement and loupe to explain to me the inner workings of the crono and flyback. I feel like I received the value of the watch again in the time they spent with me. Great brand, great people.
I’ll say it, TGV got me into the passion of timepieces when I was in college. Other watchtubers are clearly more known, but none contribute more to the passion we all share.
I’d disagree - I think the Urban Gentry and TGV are arguably the most well known of all watch TH-camrs. Been around longest, most subscribers, I’ve heard loads of others refer to the UG as an early inspiration for starting their own channel or getting them into certain watches. I think the popularity among TH-camrs of the 36mm Explorer and the JDM Seiko Sarbs can definitely be accredited to TGV, and I’ve heard the like of MWC and Jody JOMW say as much.
He's responsible for at least 4 of my watch purchases. The SKX way back when i discovered mechanical watches, the Squale 1521, the "Mighty Flighty" and a square G-Shock. Unfortunately this one will not be on the list as i'm saving for a NOMOS.

Brilliant! Thanks for the history lesson on Hanhart. The watches look brilliant and beautiful. Now one is on my bucket list. BTW, thanks to you, this Summer I made it goal to visit the north end of Roosevelt Island to see and photograph the lighthouse tower. I'm born and raised in NYC, but never bothered to visit all the iconic locations while living there. I moved in the early 1990's. Never been to Roosevelt Island, until I returned to NYC in 2014 for Xmas. I ventured to the Southern point of the new park. No Cornell campus then. A decade later after the passing of my mother, I returned again to NYC. Both times, I visited the NYC landmarks that I took for granted in my early years. On my last day, I took the ferry from the East River to disembark at Roosevelt Island, and trekked the idyllic island. But I forgot to take a selfie wrist check with my watch du jour. An AddiesDive 39mm GADA on a Jubilee bracelet with a Grand Seiko-esque light blue wind-driven snow patterned dial. :-) I used to be able to indulge my champagne taste in the past, but now must tend to my acquisitions on a beer budget. Chapeau!
Ordered one - this watch finally hits on all cylinders for me. Always wanted a German made watch since that’s my heritage, also wanted something that qualifies for every day wear, has a hint of luxury but is not ostentatious, something respectable, practical but also something that has a design language that harkens back to what makes the German perspective on quality so valuable. Germans are practical people and often times dislike outward displays of opulent wealth, it’s sort of considered to be rude and classless. This watch really exemplifies that mindset, it gives you everything you need and nothing you don’t but the artistic value of the numerals, hands and case are not lost. Pretty great to see a TH-cam personality collaborate with a watch company like hanhart and deliver proper value. This will be a profitable result for hanhart and that makes me happy for a good German brand doing things the right way!
You've come up with a classic and dare I say it...even better looking watch than the ones that have come previously! From watch enthusiast to watch designer! You've hit the ball clean out of the park ! Sticking to what works and having it made...superb !!!
TGV, this episode is just one more of the legendary moments in your journey! This new watch is a serious competitor for some heavy hitters! Hanhart has some epic history in watch making and builds fantastic watches...but to collab with them (again) on this: bravo fratello! You've done it again! I can already picture the fun to be had swapping around straps...field watch par excellence. The tech in the steel...now thats something special not often seen elsewhere. As always you've done it right. Pure class. O&U.
Looking at this video, I see that you took a lot of care with editing and music. I also see that your videos have gradually grown more interesting to me. I appreciate your time to make this for us.
No kidding,…I found myself drooling while looking at this watch. This beautiful watch has all of the little things the Murph was missing. Dare I say, perfection? ❤
Hi TGV, I suggest to ask Andrew Morgan to review the watch. Very experienced and (seemingly) unbiased reviewer with lots of knowledge. I am saving up for a Hanhart flyback, love the brand and most of their models. Was a little surprised to hear you, as a respected unbiased reviewer, actually advertising this watch. But very fair of you to ask us for good reviewers. Real class, highly respect you for that. Hope to see this watch being reviewed soon!
Purchased a few weeks ago & received it this week. I was torn between the black or blue dial, ultimatley going with blue. Been on the wrist for 3 days now and absoluteley love it! Fantastci everyday tool watch, bravo Hanhart & TGV!
TGV I bought the reissue 417 ES 1954 39mm when it launched. Absolutely love it! To say I’m a Steve McQueen fan is a little understated. I’ve got a ‘68 GT390 Mustang along with the Steve McQueen Edition Triumph plus a few more bits of paraphernalia. In my past life I was a heat treatment tradesman, associated also with metallurgy & engineering with the Australian Defence Industry. I can attest to the 1200 Vickers being able to cope pretty bloody well with abuse!💪🏼 I really like this new model from Hanhart & definitely one I’ll consider!👍🏼😎
Discovered this beauty a few days ago, didn’t know it was a TGV collab. Already decided it’s got a place in my box with both the bracelet and a bund strap to boot. Bravo!
I’d like to nominate Russell at the mad watch collector. You inspired me to watch his channel. I enjoy his take on watches. And the way he presents them. I have one of his Mad Hacker watches by Radcliffe. Along with the Islander Urban Gentry Rangemaster watches. And I enjoy them very much. I think I’d like the Hanhart Preventor Watch.
The $1000 price point is grail watch territory for me and at the range my hopes of ever getting an Explorer are void. But this! OMG, I absolutely love it and it's something I could realistic save up for. Gratzi!
Despite being what people would call "Successfull",I have a pretty heavy diagnosed ADHD, so I have to keep a smartwatch to vibrate full force and beep on my wrist with my todo list, but I just love mechanical watches, I bought many and probably many more to come, wear them whenever I can, your my favorite channel, true independent journalist. Thanks for everything!
Me too, bought a slim smart band on my right wrist. People ask me why I am wearing two watches, I tell them I am not, as one is a watch and the other is a digital assistant.
AMAZING! Me as “still” part of the younger generation, would love to introduce Hanhart to a different audience! I’d never tought in my life I would be drawn into these kind of watches, but since I’ve got to know so much more about watches and herritage, it would only be an honour!🙏💯 Keep up the good work bro!🔥
It's one thing to be a witness to history: it's quite another thing to be a part of history (and, better-still, to live to tell), and it's clear you've managed it right here, with a clearly wonderful Hanhart. Great story of its creation, and while I have no idea how I'll see one in-person at the moment, I'm confident of its success. Keep on keeping-on, Tristano!
I'd recommend Peter Kotsa but he'll probably do a review anyway being a German watch maker fan. I have a few Hanhart's just got the Fly Navy but I love the denim blue dial on this new edition.
Yeah.... I'm going to end up with one of these. This really is what I've wanted for a couple years. Every bit of it is spot on. There have been some that have been close, but not quite. Well done.
Another vote for "This Watch, That Watch." Mike gives the most thought-provoking commentary on watches you'll find. Like your channel, I learn something new in every video.
What a cracking watch. I have a 417ES 39mm, it's a total beauty. Hadn't entertained the idea of another model but this collaboration is stellar. The blue dial on bracelet is gonna be a showstopper.
Congratulations, tgv, on participating in another collaboration. It’s always great to see that you have continued to mature with your taste and become a part of brands that will go on for generations. You are making a mark for watch, collectors, and enthusiast alike, and I could not be more glad. Wonderful, this is wonderful!
I blame you. Just preordered one with blue dial. Should be in next year. Thank You. Something to look forward for in 2025. Looks like you did a great job. The German watch makers are doing a better job than many of the Swiss makers in my opinion. Should be a great daily wear.
I can't remember ever seeing a watch that appeals to me more, TGV. A minimalist by nature, it far exceeds (for me anyway) the Explorer, Ranger and Murph for beautiful, simple purity of design, functionality and . . . well . . . just that special something that we can never put into words. It must be even more amazing in the flesh. Congratulations on your design genius!
I'd love to see a white dial version of this... not that I need the temptation! Those numerals are special. Brave Beaters reviews are always a good watch and the guy Andrej (thinks that's how his name is spelt) has a good eye for design.
A great looking watch, and now very high on 'next watch to buy' list. I've had my eye on a few Hanhart's, and this is certainly up there. Congrats on the collaboration and the outcome TGV. Love it.
Brilliant! And yes! Since it’s not limited, I’m going to endeavor to get this little beauty into my collection. The poor Murph didn’t stand a chance. A great watch, but it didn’t stand a chance against the Hanhart… Bravo!
I'd love to see Relative Time take a look at this watch TGV, he has an analytical approach I like. The watch looks great to me although I think I am more smitten by the Pioneer.
I've been searching for a German everyday watch for a while, and with the 556 going up in price (+ lacking tegimented steel) I thought I might have to wait a while but this looks fantastic! Those dimensions (and thickness) are perfect! I'm imagining it with a gray alcantara strap....bravo!
Also big Sinn 556A vibes. Looks good. A few thoughts: - I love the 10.5mm thickness. - From pics and videos, the crown looks a little too large, although maybe if doesn’t appear that way in person. - Very interested to see how the watch’s shock resistance/ability to withstand falls onto hard services plays out over time. - I like the red tip on the seconds hand. - The watch looks SUPER gothic, especially on the bund strap - Is the “Hanhart” engraved on the buckle? I couldn’t tell clearly from the video. Congrats. Looks great from the video.
Watches like this make me smile. I don't know why we chase that Rolex dream (I'm over that brand)...I currently wear a Longines from 1970s. Square, cost very little. Stunning silver dial... also my G shock.. I've realised that there are great watches out there which don't break the bank and give us just as much joy as any rolex or omega etc...
I know this is VERY dumb, but I love when a watch states where it is from on its dial. Ex: "Made in Japan" "Swiss Made".Unfortunately this does not have it and I know some Hanharts have "Made in Germany". :-(
Probably going to buy one, the design is great. It is funny how time mellows us all out though. Around 9:15 ish in the video you made a comment to the effect of - an individual on “the wrong side” wore a watch made by this brand, however, “it is still a great achievement for the brand”. - A Nazi wore this… I know the word hasa become something of a joke today due to western liberals calling everyone Nazis these days, but it was a group of individuals fighting for a horrific cause. Now it can apparently be celebrated by brands as an advertisement for their products. TGV, I know you don’t mean it as this way, you’re a great guy as far as I can tell. Just making a stupid observation on how time changes perspective and softens us all to the horrors of the past.
What a great collab, resulting in a gem of a watch. Love the classic style with the cathedral hands. Have had my eye on the Hamilton Murph for years, especially since they launched the smaller version, but was never 100% sure, so never got myself one. I wanted to stop buying extra watches, but you’re making it very difficult for me. Great job, TGV and Hanhart.
Congratulations on this fantastic collaboration. Regrettably my trip to Munich was canceled this summer. Hanhart was on my radar. Specifically the Moby Dick. With the addition of this model continues to be. Hoping for a Canadian AD at some point, but that won’t stop me from taking the plunge.
T, A wonderful video and congratulations on the latest collab. Loved the shout out to NDCstraps! Thank you. Look out for a very exciting collaboration that we will be announcing soon. Best as always. Jacko
Peter kosta will just bang on about the lack of on-the-fly micro adjustment. Had to unsubscribe as he mentions this in almost every review -- great videography though.
Tristano, this, my good man, is MASTERFUL! Your honesty and candidness is refreshing regarding this not being a review since it is biased, but one must admit that the watch looks phenomenal. I have never fallen for the Explorer’s wiley charm. I adore my RangeMaster that you did with Long Island Watch and this looks like a more vintage, high end, historically and horologically cultured version. Bravo! Very, very well done. On my shortest of short lists. I haven’t bought a piece since I got my SkyDweller nearly a year ago. This may tempt me, my friend. Onward and upward! Be well, my friend!
Teddy Sells watches now. He only really cares about watches he sells. And they all have "positive" reviews. He's not exactly an independent reviewer anymore
Me too, unfortunately it was a tough one. Too big and everyone complains, and too small, the same happens. However, being so thin, it makes it wear so comfortably. I'm seriously considering selling my Explorer again 😅🙏. But if this is successful, who knows, 36mm one day maybe? I only wish I could make more Lorier Safari at this point. Thank you, Best regards, TGV
I bought their recently reintroduced flyback chrono, and even obtained a small discount on what is not an expensive watch. Great company making excellent watches. You've given the game away TGV!!
Sorry, I will double check everything, we have had issues with TH-cam all week. Bear with us, I am sure it will be with all the hard work, enjoy! Best regards, TGV
Needless to say but congrats on working on such a beautiful watch, Hnahart is one of those brands i didn't know and thanks your watching your videos it's on my radar now, i really like the dial and proportions and the technology on it is amazing.
Thanks TGV for the great presentation! Recommendations for the review: 1. Just one more watch - Jody 2. The mad watch collector - Russell 3. Peter Kotsa 4. Adrian Barker 5. Jenni Elle
Bravo TGV! I'm sure you know that most of the hard coatings on steel watches changes the appearance of the steel quite a bit in making it appears more muted and less shiny. Some are better than others, the Seiko diashield is one of the better ones while microbrands can be hit or miss. Is the surface C diffusion different in that regard? How would you rate the surface finish of this watch? Cheers.
I did see the watch about 3 days ago and I love Hanhart as a brand because of TDV. However I didn’t realise that it was a collaboration between TGV and Hanhart and as I missed out on the first collaboration I will definitely be adding this one to my collection. Well done TGV,great watch. I like the less is more approach😊
Thank God it's not another limited edition. Bravo TGV. Congratulations. I could see this one making it into my collection sooner then later

I love that guy!
@@jasonsmith1375 Me as well, TGV, Chap's Guide and and Gentleman's Gazette got me through COVID.
I would like to nominate the Mad Watch Collector and Adrian Barker.
Oh please, not the Mad Watch Collector! He’s nauseatingly over the top with his “mad” schtick.
Adrian works for Rolex
Yes, Russ (MWC) loves a military inspired watch. He would be perfect for a review
@@jimv.6631 I find him funny and he doesn't really pull any punches with all the joviality.
No greater tribute than the manufacturer contacting the vlogger and inviting his help! Congratulations.
I’d never tought in my life I would be drawn into these kind of watches, but since I’ve got to know so much more about watches and herritage, it would only be an honour!🙏💯
Keep up the good work bro!🔥
Friday night with a TGV drop, nothing can beat this. Onwards and upwards!
Here's to you my friend! 😎🥂
Thank you,
Best regards,
TGV
Looks really stunning! I'll go for the black one.
Well done.
Two great independent channels... Caseback Watches and ID Guy
Another vote for "This Watch, That Watch." Mike gives the most thought-provoking commentary on watches you'll find. Like your channel, I learn something new in every video.
Hanhart needs a boutique in NY. The watches are fantastic.
You’re kidding me… This is why I follow this channel… This is the watch I’m going to buy
The dimensions bring tears of joy to a baby-wristed enthusiast like me. Cool watch TGV!
So happy to hear that, thank you!
Best regards,
TGV
Love all these new vids TGV you never fail to impress with your knowledge of watches kudos
Thank you, you are very kind to say.
Best regards,
TGV
One of my FAV brands, TGV! What a Collaboration- Thank you for this video, keep them coming :)
This Hanhart looks 👌 phenomenal it looks feild ready and a true no date Selita. Its on the short list now. Congrats on helping design It
I can't remember ever seeing a watch that appeals to me more, TGV.
Interesting name, sounds about right for this watch!
I will check them out.
Thank you,
Best regards,
TGV
A great looking watch, and now very high on 'next watch to buy' list. I've had my eye on a few Hanhart's, and this is certainly up there. Congrats on the collaboration and the outcome TGV. Love it.
I nominate You’re Terrific!
Brilliant!
What an exquisite video that showcases a truly classy watch. Thanks for bringing Hanhart to the attention of the world!
Mad Watch Collector would be all over this!
This is literally the first real video I found on this watch I've been looking for DAYS!
Thank you, TGV, for extending my long night before sleeping, to watch the newest upload, just before I go to sleep! Horologic Addict😅
I love it, enjoy and may you dream of fine German watchmaking!
Thank you and best regards,
TGV
Very cool watch and brand. TGV always has such a unique perspective on watches and collecting in general. This channel is the GOAT!
Is there a particular reason why "Made in Germany' doesnt feature on the dial?
As always you do your subject more than justice. Thank you! Hanhart makes exceptional watches.
Gettin a tan, in the sun, life baby that's livin
I've been searching for a German everyday watch for a while, and with the 556 going up in price (+ lacking tegimented steel) I thought I might have to wait a while but this looks fantastic! Those dimensions (and thickness) are perfect!
I'm imagining it with a gray alcantara strap....bravo!
Also big Sinn 556A vibes. Looks good.
A few thoughts:
- I love the 10.5mm thickness.
- From pics and videos, the crown looks a little too large, although maybe if doesn’t appear that way in person.
- Very interested to see how the watch’s shock resistance/ability to withstand falls onto hard services plays out over time.
- I like the red tip on the seconds hand.
- The watch looks SUPER gothic, especially on the bund strap
- Is the “Hanhart” engraved on the buckle? I couldn’t tell clearly from the video.
Congrats. Looks great from the video.
Congrats on the collaboration the Hugo bit really made me smile that is one stunning watch.
Any plans on making this available in 36mm in the future? Would be the perfectttt classic sized/unisex watch!
Not dumb at all, I adore that too.
Thank you,
Best regards,
TGV
Why is on the case back not sufficient? 🤔
I wouldn't mind having one
Fantastic!! It is basic and beautiful. Well done TGV & Hanhart🎖
The Mad Watch Collector! I would love to see Russel review this cracking watch, well done sir!
Blue Dial? (Vote 👍)
T, A wonderful video and congratulations on the latest collab. Loved the shout out to NDCstraps! Thank you. Look out for a very exciting collaboration that we will be announcing soon. Best as always. Jacko
Peter Kotsa and Brave Beaters
Not familiar with them, thank you!
I will certainly check them out.
Best regards,
TGV
I think Teddy Baldassarre would do a creditable review of this watch.
He sells watches, I think that was the specific disqualifier for an unbiased review.
He would want it to be smaller, 39mm is to big for him.
Teddy Sells watches now. He only really cares about watches he sells. And they all have "positive" reviews. He's not exactly an independent reviewer anymore
@@sparkyblazeup1 Teddy is nothing but a salesman. His reviews are never subjective. I would think this would be obvious but I guess not
I own Hamilton Murph 38 . But that's an impressive watch with an impressive price! Great review TGV as always! Thank you!
Love the design, but really wish it was even a bit smaller
Me too, unfortunately it was a tough one. Too big and everyone complains, and too small, the same happens. However, being so thin, it makes it wear so comfortably. I'm seriously considering selling my Explorer again 😅🙏. But if this is successful, who knows, 36mm one day maybe?
I only wish I could make more Lorier Safari at this point.
Thank you,
Best regards,
TGV
I bought their recently reintroduced flyback chrono, and even obtained a small discount on what is not an expensive watch. Great company making excellent watches. You've given the game away TGV!!
1 minute 0 views, fell off
Sorry, I will double check everything, we have had issues with TH-cam all week.
Bear with us, I am sure it will be with all the hard work, enjoy!

@@theurbangentryhahaha bro took it seriously. Just a meme TGV, ask Hugo 🦖
Fantastic story and editing. Such a pleasure.
Such a classic beauty. A lovely simple time piece. Amazing work.
Incredible video, old friend. Love it. Cheers to you and Hanhart.
Needless to say but congrats on working on such a beautiful watch, Hnahart is one of those brands i didn't know and thanks your watching your videos it's on my radar now, i really like the dial and proportions and the technology on it is amazing.
Thanks TGV for the great presentation!

Cheers.
Always enjoy the scenery in all your videos! Thanks, and have a great weekend TGV!
Thank you as always my friend!
Have a great one too 🥂😎
Best regards
TGV
I get mine tomorrow! Can’t wait!! Thanks for the enlightenment. 😎
How do you like it so far?
Love it, my favorite watch channel by far!
I can't complain about this watch and that is high praise. Well balanced looks and amazing clarity 😊
