One of the most common questions people get on their videos of their speedruns is “how do people find all these glitches?” There’s a lot of different ways glitches are found. Sometimes they’re found accidentally as my friend EZScape has outlined in a few of his own videos. Sometimes they’re the result of intentional glitch-hunting. In this video, I interviewed three different speedrunners who have found glitches in different game, and got to hear their stories first-hand of how they found the glitches, what the glitches do, and what their line of thinking as that led to the discovery.

@tomatoanus on your fallout 3 all quests speed run ( th-cam.com/video/S1EpVZJrQew/w-d-xo.html) what is the song in the first minute of you playing? You didn't credit the song in the description and I've been looking for it for a long time now. I would appreciate a reply if it's not a bother.

Yeah... Nah. I skipped past all that. Great that you have a sponsor.. not a fan of these 'mobile game' sponsors. They get what they want by making their game, pay-to-win. So, no thanks. Find a sponsor that's got a good product, sure. Just not these kind of.. scummy.. business models.

These glitches I can imagine how to you'd discover, because I always try to clip walls even in casual games. Unfortunately, the answer to that is just: You try it. You make a list of what you need to do to complete the game. You cross off anything you can skip. You try to do whatever remains as fast as possible.
It's just that simple, really. If you think X is fastest, you try it. Maybe someone else thinks Y is fastest, they try that. The times are compared, and then you have your answer.
The 'planning' is really just 'What can I not skip'. It's kind of a misnomer, really, as you don't plan anything, you just try different variations to see what is fastest.

For the original glitched route of Remnant: From the Ashes, we had a few guys just run through the whole game, trying to teleport on top of stuff with the blink ability. Someone found a stone slab to port on to and i think he accidentally used the Aoe healing ability, Mender's Aura, while on top, which caused him to fall through the stone he was standing on and also allowed to run through closed doors. Took him days to find, but shaved off 20 minutes of the WR. Sadly got patched later, but that's how the Remnant community did it.

Hey tomatoanus, fellow game glitcher here (mostly not useful glitches).
For out of bounds glitches, I look for every border of the map and places that I can jump on. For other glitches mostly I try pressing more than one button at the same time, syncing some button pressing with some animation or maybe holding a button while doing some other thing or sometimes just playing the game and seeing an opportunity, I'm a developer, sometimes thinking how the game may work, will help finding glitches.
Glitches that I've found: invisible launchers on battlefield 4, out of map on every map on bf3 and 4 campaign (If I'm not mistaken), use weapon underwater on bf4, "teleport" on bf4 campaign, out of map on a lot of destiny locations, money duplication on a big mobile game, glitched weapon animation on black ops 2, go through walls on just cause 4 and some others, yeah out of bounds are the easiest to find.

Lag warping, (Sponge warps with lag) was discovered by GoodGuyTongue in the BFBB discord after the topic of lag strategies on console was brought up. It was found that it was possible to lag a VBB (Vertical bowl boost) which begged the question if it was possible to lag a spongewarp. Low and behold, it was. And now we have a glitch that lets you teleport across the map :D

Long time viewer, first time commenter here. I really like your videos explaining glitches and tech accessibly, I find speedruns without commentary difficult to comprehend and you insert a more human element into them. I also like your dry wit.
Anyways I'm always happy to see your videos in my subscription uploads and I hope you continue to make them.
