In this video, we go over and break down a Shura Ending speedrun of Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, by world record holder LilAggy. This run balances actual gameplay and fights, with impressive movement, as well as completely breaking the game with a glitch that allows us to swim anywhere.

the farmer in the dell, the farmer in the dell, hi ho the derry o, follow me on twitter @tomatoanus
while you finish the game in a few minutes I finished this game in 1 month. I AM SLOWRUNNER!
*farmer in the dell whistling* Yo, tomatoanus is coming!
did you really have to use tts i mean most of them are easy
How do you feel about Newport menthols?? You could be Omar, he was a strict professional known for contriving and executing daring plans.
Hey, that didn’t ryhme
tomatoanus: *uses text to speech to help him with Japanese names*
tomatoangus: shinōbi
Shinobi is Englishrised, and has 3 syllables, which as common knowledge is the max amount of syllables the English language can handle before falling apart.
Nanorisk
Clearly you’ve never heard the word Antidisestablishmentarianism before.
Perfectly understandable with zero effort needed.
And if you believe that, I’ve got a great Beachfront property in the Sahara Desert to sell you.
@@sirapple589 I know that word, it is an ideology to stop the separation bewteen the British goverment and a variant of Jesus religion which I never bothered to differenciate. It is still difficult to pronounce correctly, hence falling apart.
@@Nanorisk Ah yes, the well known and widely practiced Jesus Religion.
Nanorisk
My reply was sarcastic, you seem to have missed that.
Antidisestablishmentarianism is very obviously a word that is difficult to decipher even for native English speakers. It’s so complex that it falls apart halfway through the word.
It is very much a mess of a word.
pleasure working with you needlepeen!
also can our mashup name for future collabs be lilanus
Im down, it can also be the name of our rap duo
Tomato aggy
@@richapborne6870 pretty sure they nailed it with lilanus

"Normally not optional" describes speedrunning almost too well.
Except in games where almost everything is technically optional, like BotW
I'm glad it's not seeker, he killed Samuel in Dishonored, the heartless bastard
#NeverForget
cmon man
He actually didn't if you were paying attention. Samuel appears in one of the ending cutscenes totally fine, and Seeker only actually shoves him off his boat into the sea. Petty, but not murderous.
@rob 998 The Dishonored speedrun tomatoanus covered actually ended in Low Chaos since he only ever killed the targets
In all fairness, Samuel does talk way too much for a speedrun lmaoo
What ever happened to tomatoangus (the g is silent)? i miss him.
They patched in an enormous death plane above and below his bed so he's stuck there for the time being.
@@dontuserachelslurs lmao
I'm afraid it's been... nine years.

*Dude rides off cliff
[SHINOBI EXECUTION]
He noticed that his whole job of protecting the gate has no meaning since Sekiro can just ninja past the wall and hence decided to commit sudoku.

it's a meme. Commit sudoku.
easily the best speedrun related channel. great commentary, varied runs, knowledge of each game and great jokes. love it
Karl Jobst is pretty good too.
Mitten Sqaud has a similar dry humor
both those channels are great. but tomato takes the anus for me just 'cause you never know what game you'll get a run for. karl jobst is great for history of the classics like doom and goldeneye and mitten squad is great for bethesda challenge runs but when it comes to just watching a single speedrun, anus wins out.
like modest pelican
I mean there is the OG summoningsalt
So, it's been two years and a half, so I think it can be interesting to see where the WR is and how is the run and the route now.
LilAggy's record: 21:50.
Current WR by Mitchriz: 19:28.
This is a list of things that changed during this period to save time:
-Patch 1.06.
-No subtitles: So basically, someone discovered that if you have no subtitles on, you can skip a lot of dialogue directly without having to spam X to skip it. Not a big save in Shura, but in other endings it was a huge discovery.
-Double canyon skip: Instead of just doing the last jump, with the icecicles, now there's a previous jump befere, where you skip all the running in the right cave and the snake. This is considered one of the most difficult skips in the game.
-Gyobu and route to bull: So, it turns out you don't have to wait in the roof for Gyobu to fall to his death, you can go directly to the bull fight, and he will fall anyways. Also now the route is going close to the left, cause there'rs two Ako sugars (more damage). The bull skip is patched if you go to the right, but if you jump to the left of the tree, you can still do it.
-Lone shadow: You can use one of the Ako sugars to make it faster. Also, you can hit him off angle and he won't block you, making the fight not only faster, but safer (no parries needed)
-Snake eyes: the same fight, but using the other Ako to make it faster. Also, there's no need to kill the first sniper, cause if you look at him during the fight with snake eyes, for some reason he doesn't fully see you (Yellow marker, no red).
-Mibu village: everything the same, except you take a divine confeti in one of the houses at the end.
(Here is where the route completely changed)
-Genichiro fight: After killing the monk, you go to the Ashina castle to fight Genichiro. Turns out it was discovered a skip (front dojo skip) that is faster than swiming your way up to the fight. Also using the divine confeti makes the door cheese faster (divine confeti makes attacks deal more damage to vitality) and doing the fight now saves one fast travel.
-Lotus of the palace: Same route, same skips with the airswim.
-Monkeys: Now you can skip them! They fixed the going directly to the arena skip, but there's a point in the branch where you can go to the roof, and fall through the wall. When falling, you suddenly appear in the Inner Sanctum where you can talk to the girl and receive the mortal blade.
-The end of the run is roughly the same, nothing really changed here.
And that's more or less it. Those are the important changes that helped save almost two and a half minutes.
FYI LilAggy's record is 19:50 - but I think he's given up speedwunning Sekiro since the release of Elden Ring(?)
@@loshan1212 honestly based, ER is incredibly fun
The Shura Ending speedrun: how fast can you betray the guy you've been trying to protect for the whole game?
9:53 straight man's life goals
Well yeah ...
sekiro: **swims to the top of Ashina castle**
Genichiro: "why do i hear boss music?"
My favorite youtuber Tomatoangus uploads again!
you have me mistaken, tomatoangus is an entirely different person.
@@tomatoanus To be fair, his name is pronounced just like yours, so it's understandable.
Remember! The G is silent!
@@tomatoanus is this like the real/fake filthy frank lore all over again
"From one ape to another" god I love your scripts
I've been watching your channel for some longer time now, even though I'm not really into speedruns. I just love your commentary, especially those little jokes every now and then which you deliver without change in tone making them twice as good.
Tomato's commentary on the Sekiro AGDQ run and bringing a prop to explain something for 3 minutes that saves 45seconds in Fallout Anthology is why he was the best part of AGDQ 2020.
I hope they let you come back often, especially as a couch boi, despite their anus discrimination.
Tomato is the speedrun explanation king.
Wait what where when? Video title please. Not link because TH-cam will delete the comment if there's a link.
They call themselves inclusive...anus racists
these speedrun explanations are fantastic man, and surely bringing speedrunning to many more people's attention in a much more easily understandable/inviting way. Great job!
Never thought I’d see this.
while you never thought youd see this, i knew id see you in the comments. thanks for the continued support over the years :)
tomatoanus always my man, you might also not see me in streams as my old name but my new names FLYSTRT if you do in fact see me :) keep it up man always will support you.
Watching this speedrun slowly evolve over time was so much fun when this game first came out
And hearing you explain it in the manner you do so well is so much fun as well
good stuff homie
It's quite useful to watch speedrun explanation videos as a game dev, because you get to observe some techniques used to build the game, as well as player tendencies and the like.
Man this quick run through most of the game makes me appreciate even more how everything is connected the way it is. Insane how they managed to do that.
EDIT: Also Lmao, that monk kill was amazing.
It's always a fun time when The Smallest D in the Movaje uploads.
tomatoanus is my fav speedrun commentator on youtube because i don't know any other channel that does this.
Summoning Salt. That's one
New subscriber here and I have been binging your content. I love these Explained videos. This one is great, so are the Dark Souls, Dark Souls 2 and Elder Scrolls videos. Amazing content dude. And I love your energy and positivity. Big Ups!
Hey mr.Anus, just wanted to say i've been watching your videos for a while and i love them all, regardless of topic. Theres very few people I would drop what im doing and watch their videos for, and youre one of them. Thanks for doing what cha do :)
Tomatoanus is the only reason i watched the last agdq
Bruh.. I have watched a number of your videos in a row... I keep laughing out loud. (had to type that out.) I am really enjoying your content and ... narration. Thank you for your time and effort. Quite worthwhile entertainment. :)
ME LLAMOOOOOOOO!!!
No matter what game it is your commentary with explanation makes these super interesting. Love the content watch every video
this was insane i've never even played this game or seen much of it (although i would like to) but your commentary had me hooked and was very insightful into all the tricks. thanks for the cool video! :)
New subscriber here, loved your videos man! Binging your vids recently.
love these runs! commentary is great
another great video with one of my favorite spreedun youtuber, tomateangus
bad ass commentary man i never played this game but watching it was fun tbh
I actually fkin LOVE this series you're doing. We need to go buy some merch as encouragement.
i know you probably wont see this, but the "jump off of thin air" trick is also a form of what is called "coyote time", named from the wile e coyote "dont fall until you look down" recurring joke. it allows you in some platformers to jump moments after jumping off of ledges as a cathartic "last minute jump" feeling. its quite common in a lot of games.
I'm actually familiar with this term! (and it actually is already included in the script for my next video)
@@tomatoanus Oh THATS WICKED! so stoked!!!
I initially found your channel independently of gdq, and I was super excited when I saw you'd made it into the latest event

funny thingg...
im new to ur channel, watched 2 videos, Mirror Edge and this
and liked both videos not mainly from the breakdown, but because of the snides(Mirror Edge), and that merch advertisement in the beginning of this video xD
anyways loved the way u do breakdown, keep up the awesome feats !!~
This guy happens to sound a lot like Tomatoangus, I hope he isn't reuploading his content and passing it as his own...
Nice, i love this game. Hope you do more of the soulsborne games.
Hey what great timing. Just started replaying this.
I do love your channel. Thank you for u effort
It’s so weird i’ve been watching tomatoanus and lilaggy separately for years so i was pleasantly surprised about this video
i already knew most of these skips, but man your explanation is hella
entertaining
"Hi guy's, my names TomatoAnus, also known as needlepeen" 😂
It's crazy how much aggy has improved
Not only him but any% in general
Just insane
Very cool!I always enjoy these videos. But if there was one i wanted u to make,it was one about HOW these tricks and glitches are actually found,in the first place.
Cheers.
soon
check the uploads sir
Amazing work dude/s!
The timing of the commentary and the sleazy jokes makes this so professional i cant believe its made purely of passion and commitment.
6:00
Boss: "As I breathe, you will not pass the castle gate"
Sekiro: *jumps over castle gate before he finishes monologue*
Boss: "Am I a joke to you?"
One of your best Vids bro
LilAggy just got the newest WR for any% Sekiro in 19:50 :D Time to rewatch this video again for the occasion!
Thank you for this video air bud :)
- baby, we're leaving for my parents in 30 mins
- ok, just gonna play through Sekiro and get my jacket
It's actually pronounced Junty Joe, not Genichiro.
Some good tips in here. Next time i know I'm gonna be late for work I'll try concussing myself and getting my arm cut off
this speedrun has successfully made me feel inadequate
this game actually looks so fun
Can't wait for this TerminalMontage animation
I love the great humour, technical commentary, and sexy voice. I also love the sheer passion for a game that speedrunners feel, and the communities they belong to.
That’s what it all about. Playing games you love and dissecting them with a great group of people.
That last fight was smoooooth.
Thanks, Needlepeen, you do God's work
Another video i get to listen to the sweet sensual voice of tomatoanus haha
i swear the isshin fight is always like an elegant dance
Dude wtf Lilaggy got so lucky mist noble didn't just one shot him... He's the hardest boss in the game by far.
thanks angus, very cool
It’s crazy that I’ve seen Aggy run this so many times for a 19:50 that he got, seeing this time is crazy and feels slightly slower haha
You're the best speedrun explainerator without question.
I love this game, it's what a main line DS game could be if the movement wasn't dogshit.
Love your vids
Your commentary is hilarious
This is making me want to see a Sifu speedrun explained!
Hey tomatoanus, would you ever consider doing a video about the Metroid Prime any% speedrun? I personally find it quite interesting
Would love to see coverage of the Sekiro blindfolded run!
I’m considering getting this game now
great video
So cathartic to see those bosses get violated like that
The T2S got me in the funny bone. Well done.
lol "angus"
love your vids bud!
Dude. I have been BINGE watching your content for the past week. I can’t get enough. If you ever need someone to accurately VA Kanji instead of using a translator voice- I would absolutely be so down to provide voice clips.
The effort you put into your work. Wow.
Keep it the fuck up dude.
Also- the fucking hard stop to acknowledge how shitty things are in the world and to send love during your “how speedrunners ran fallout4…”
That shit means a lot. You are a good ass dude.
Tomatoanus is the reason why I heavily prefer commentary runs
Tomatoanus has a very good narrating voice
"Illegal according to the 8th Amendment" gave me a hearty kek
its like perfect button mashing technique, yet so much more
lol the cheese is strong in this one :) amazing run & sublime commentary as usual, thank you!
Now THIS is EPIC
engaging informative and funny!
Yknow I don't mind if you do more Sekiro categories for speedrun explained
When you say "In Sekiro", i hear it as. "Insecure Oh." lmfao!.
A surprise, to be sure, but a welcome one.
Yamfa would be proud of how few bosses they fight
I just want a T-shirt with TOMATOANUS, all caps, huge font written on the front.
All I’m saying is that I’ve never seen tomato angus and casually explained in the same room at the same time.
instead of the speach device for Gyoubu masataka oniwa you could have put the audio of him screaming his own name
ah fuck that would’ve been genius.
Confusing, yet highly intriguing😷
The fact that there was no reason to discuss combat until more than 7 minutes in tells me that I am obviously playing Sekiro COMPLETELY wrong.
Working QA on this game was satisfying and the suffering I got to experience people go through filled my soul with hope.
> uses text to speech for Kyobu
> not Kyobu's amazing "MY NAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAME" voice line
That snake sure isn't grateful that we didn't stab its eye
nice vid, ty
I love this videos
