Well done mate and thanks for taking the time to video your work. I was going to buy a mk7.5 soon but this has made me pause for thought. You might just have saved me from buying a nightmare ! Cheers.
Glad I watched it... job for the summer for me to do. 👍🏻
Nice job, thanks for review! Unfortunately it's typical problem for Golf 7.
nice job mate, thanks very much for the video, very useful
Brilliant pal thank you 👌
The guy sniffing was the best part🤣
My rear light has dead bugs in it as well, not to mention the leaks... I wish I'd seen your video before I bought the car....
Many thanks...good video...
Hope your cold gets better
I had the same speaker problem... Golf 1,2 tsi -14 and then my new car today 1,4 tsi-17 (mk7) Leaks at both backdoors. First one was free of charge at VW so i hope they will take this one at goodwill too! Or else i would do this myself thanks!
the mk7 golf for leaks in literally the worst car in history for water issues, i bought one in december and quickly found out, dealer had it for 3 weeks and unfortuately neglected to dry/sort it and the whole of the inside was full of mold by the time they sorted it, changed boot gromet issue rear top brake light etc and sealed the lights and water was still getting in, even had a small electric burns near my 2 brake lights due to water filling up so bad, no idea how VW made the mk7 have so many issues compared to the older lot, everytime i opened the boot water spilled out the back plastics was stressful, good luck with this ^^ i gave up and had to swap
I have a golf mk6 and I’m also getting water issues. I’m so surprised. I thought golf’s were tanks and this has been my first! Mechanically it’s been sound but never had an issue with water in a car before that wasn’t Cat C or D!
@@ourmindzdj My MK 7 is leaking like the bloody Titanic. It was actually dripping from the center of the roof where the sunglasses holder is. Does anyone know how to get to the drain holes to inspect it?
@@largol33t12mine is in the rear passenger footwell. I need to take the rear bumper off and rear lights out and seal up the vents behind the rear bumper on both sides with sealant but I’m no mechanic
Thanks LRH Automotive, very informative. Unbelievable VW's put out such crap, I've owned VW's and Audi's exclusively since the late '70's my 2017 Alltrack will be the last VW/Audi I'll ever purchase. 2 of these water leaks should have never happened mainly due to poor choice of materials or lack of, the speaker seal material disintegrating after only a few years and the plastic vent with ZERO sealant just cheap cheap cheap. My lifetime love affair is over and done. As far as I know I don't have a leak issue, but now I'm going to go thru the entire car and preemptively repair the trouble areas ...you know the job VW should have done.
Thank you
When they want $31K for a car, they SHOULD be putting effort into preventing leaks. I will probably never buy another VW again. After 7 years of zero issues, my MK 7 is leaking like a faucet.
Hi. Do you think would be ok to put plumbers mait to seal door speaker?😊
Grommet for rear wiper also leaks.
Found this after looking for idea/solutions for same problem on my 5 month old MK8 R. I may be unlucky, or maybe there will be more MK8's with the same over time.
got a golf R MK 7.5 and the window washer reservoir started leaking, LOL I emptied a whole botte of washer fluid into it thinking Jesus how much does it hold, then my feet started getting wet and I realised, one of the plastic grommets on the bottom of the bottle has snapped. because of work I have no time to fix it because it involves taking the wheel off and the bumper/ wheel arch lining to get to it. only problem with an over engineered car is I have a huge warning light on the digital dash saying please fill up washer liquid.. luckily it wont cost me a penny to fix it because I can get the parts through work but its such a joke that they use plastic grommets in an engine bay that gets hot and cold constantly causing plastic to perish... use aluminium or something FFS.
I had the same issue on the rear left door, solved by adding silicone around bass speaker after cleaning the mess...cover all cracks about rivet area
So you just cleaned it up and put some sealent around the edge of the speaker without removing it? Thinking about the same myself. Seems like a hassle to remove and mount the speaker again, so if I don't have to do it that would be good.
What size of rivets dit you use?
Does the Mk7 Estate have the same problems ?
I sealed my rear vents, my badge drain pipe is fine as well but I’m still getting water in the trye well. The plug you pulled to drain the water from vent, I lost mine so could that be the culprit?
Check the roof liner isn't wet. Just fixed mine, was coming from the wiring loom grommets on the boot and filling up the wheel well.
What sealant do you use?
I don’t have a boot grommet, it’s missing! Could that be my issue or will it be the vents?
Yeah that’s could be the issue mate
Great job, I've got the exact same problem, how did you get the vents out without access from inside, can you just lever them out?
Yeah get a trim tool in the top then wiggle they should pop out
Yank them out little force they pop out
@@lrhautomotivewhat if you just don’t put them back in then it can’t hold water also can I ask what is best sealant to use fur vent
Top information
Appreciate that mate 👍
Mk7 with water leak in drivers footwell, looked to be coming in close to footrest to left of the brake pedal but I could be wrong, check aircon drain pipe and it looks ok,seem to be worse when you drive it there’s more water coming in
It possibly be the heater matrix does it smell like coolant?
@@lrhautomotive no coolant smell and looks like clear water,I had it pretty well cleared up in footwell then drove it only a little bit up the road and carpet soaked again but last couple of days it’s been ok but no rain at the min, first time I had sprayed it with the hose just don’t know why driving it would cause it to flood
And if you seal speakers without taking out is working ?!
Alright bud. How’s it been since you did it with all the rain we’ve had lately?
Been perfect mate no water inside the car now
👍🏼
Great video - thanks, my spare wheel boot is dry but my rear seat is soaked wet - what would be the most logic leakage point in this case ?
Same happened to my golf r back seat was wet but boot floor appeared dry until I took out spare and pulled up bottom carpet which felt dry but was flooded under this …..so I replaced the pipe from the boot handle which had perished and so far so good
@@406estate where did you buy one? what's the name of that pipe ? any serial number for it?
I’m having the same issue, seat wet but boot dry, what did you do to fix it?
Why would they refit/reseal the speaker and not have it connected as it fell out without having to unplug it.
Bizzare.
What did you use to seal the tailgate rubber grommets that leak water into the headliner tried silicone
I used silicone mate been fine ever since
So isnt there any drainage holes along the bottom of the rear door?
Yeah there is mate
Switch the hammer action off on you drill very noisy 😂. Try and clear the drain hole at the bottom of the door.
Your door will rot, if it is filled with water.
What’s the drain hole look like?
Please don't put anything heavy on the trunk cover lid, because it is not designed to hold heavy stuff and you will damage it.
What silicone brand u using buddy
I just got flexible and waterproof sealer from B&q only cost about £6
@@lrhautomotive oh isit I’m thinking of jst using tiger seal as dnt wanna be using any silicone based sealant on car itl start rusting..
It’s the worst golf ! I miss my olds golf 🥲
He rambles / babbles on too much, but does clearly point out the offending areas.
Change your car to a different brand. VW avoid
Il take that on board
How profound
Even seat leon mk3 got water leak in the back floor
