What kind of foolishness is that? Why would I do all that modification to add recovery points when it should have been included from the beginning of this new generation. Purchase a truck with everything you want included, One Stop Shop!!!
@@maureeceposten47 this is what happens when engineers screw up the design and provide a fix which on the surface corrects the design flaw but in essence has the consumer doing work they should not have to do. Gaslighting???
@sambaise1007 Agreed. There was no justifiable reason to remove the recovery points in the first place. Every other manufacturer has made it work in continuing to have recovery points on their pickup trucks and not having them did NOT give toyota a competitive advantage over their competition whatsoever.
Unfortunately most of the lower trim RAMs are missing front hooks as well on the volume Big Horn model without special package additions that are currently rare to find without special order
I hate automatic braking. I was accelerating slowly behind a vehicle that was also pulling away from a green light when it slammed on the brakes. The whole car got whiplash and I shut it off permanently. I personally hate all of these stupid nanny state things on cars.
My local Ford dealer still has a unsold 2023 Ford F-150 Lariat Power Boost, in a month it will be 2 years old they are asking 68,758, good luck with that.
No tow hook was a big reason i don’t buy the new gen Tundra. Used my tow hook on my Silverado 3 times last winter pulling out stuck vehicles. Not going to buy a truck and have to spend thousands adding normal stuff like tow hooks and step to get in your bed.
My wife and I recently traded off her 2025 Honda Pilot due to automatic braking. Yes, you can thumb through a menu and turn it off, but that's a pain. Her vehicle liked to intermittantly slam the brakes when nothing was around. Had it bring us to a complete stop once. Thankfully that incident was on a small road with no traffic at the time. We'd had it since June and had been pleased with it except that "feature". Even took it to the dealership to see what they could do. I was told "that's just how new Honda's operate." After we traded it off, her friend's husband said his 1 year old Honda Accord brought him to a full stop on the interstate! The dealership he took his car to told him he was probably just driving into the sun. I hate the new car nannies.
You don’t need recovery points on an $80k truck. It’s not going off road. The 3.4 turbo V6 is actually more durable than the V8 which is blowing head gaskets as well as cam tower leaks.
Blah blah blah, head gaskets, blah blah blah cam towers. I put 75000 on an 07. No issues. 137000 on an 08. 141000 on a 2016 that I still have. No issues. Also have a 2017 Sequoia with 90,000 miles. No issues. Never met a person with the 5.7 v8 that had cam tower or head gasket issues. But hey. The internet.
Tundra hook installation is a lot like installing the receivers for snow plows. Ironically, when installing a plow, you usually have to remove - the tow hooks!
It's too bad Toyota could not properly engineer the recovery hooks from the beginning instead of it being an after thought and then have the audacity to charge the customer for the after thought. This recovery hook offering shoots a hole in the story Toyota used not to put them on originally. It was suppose to be a crash safety issue was the reason for not having the recovery hooks, what changed? IMHO Toyota lacks business honesty and integrity on many levels. I don't have to look to far into Toyota's mechanical fiasco's to prove my opinion. If Toyota wanted to show how much they appreciate their customers they could say perhaps install the recovery hooks for free on every Tundra that requires an engine replacement under the recall. What do you think?
F150 you have your choice of turbo-charged engines with cam phaser issues, a V8 with cylinder deactivation oil burning issues, and all connected to a unreliable and very expensive 10 speed auto. I might have taken my chances on either a troublesome engine OR transmission - but not both!
Ive been driving trucks since 1978 and have never used front recovery hooks, not saying they wouldnt have been nice to have but definitely would not sway my purchase decisions
I think ford dealers have let the greed of covid market consume them. I tried to buy a 2024 ford f150 tremor. They had 6 on the lot just in the tremor package and would only give an $1850 off. On top of they would only give me that if I traded in my 22 ranger tremor. Which they only offered me low on. So basically lose out on the f150 and my ranger.
They need those tow hooks. It will need to be towed many times , they know this,so,tow hooks! It a bit easier on the tow guys when your motor blows up. On your way home, from the dealer.
Counter argument: Toyota knew the motor would catastrophically granade so why bother adding tow hooks when the truck will be hauled to the dealer on a flatbed 100% of the time.
The Tundra is already so ugly that I would hesitate to buy one even if I liked everything else (which I don’t). Now these dangling loops even make it even uglier !!
Do not buy the new ram. First, you can’t check your oil you have to rely on Chrysler quality sensors to tell you how much oil you have but it doesn’t tell you the quality of the oil. They are already having issues with the new hurricane engine much like the tundra motor I would give it at least two more years to find out what other bugs it has. Personally, if you need a new truck get a Silverado or a Sierra with a V8.

I'm sitting here LMAO right now. I could not have said it any better than what you just said

Absolutely agree Toyota is on the skids in my opinion they have failed making a better truck than the last generation
The TRD Pro is a joke. Costs nearly as much as a base Raptor, yet has 32” tires, no recovery points, terrible departure/approach angles
Mall crawler

My Ram 1500 did not come with the hooks but I was able to put a set on in 15 mintues. Just pop off the tow hook covers and then two bolts per hook.

So you have to disassemble and rebuild the front of the truck for 2 tow hooks. Is ot April fools? WTF is going on at Toyota?
Someone needs to put the brakes on government over regulation.
More like brakes on people stupidity. Market is base on consumer; not the government.
Gee Wally you could have bought a Gm, Ford, Ram, and Nissan and no cutting involved!!
Make cars smart makes people dumber. I don’t know how people grew up in the 60s and 70s and they are still living today.
25 grand ! Lol that thing better be mint and 1/2!
An $80k truck and I need to buy tow hooks, gtfo….I just want an engine that won’t blow up. Bring back v8 and I’ll buy one

Lol
@@Irven51 They don’t all fail. It’s not a domestic V8. It’s still a Toyota.
The Ford news is great ! Let’s see if I can score a deal on a raptor before the end of year 🎉
Why do people call them "hooks?"
A hook 🪝is open ended and doesn't reconnect to itself.

They’re fixed. There’s some TH-cam videos on the ecoboost engine. Deep dive.
Ive been driving trucks since 1978 and have never used front recovery hooks, not saying they wouldnt have been nice to have but definitely would not sway my purchase decisions
i was thinking the same.
Afe power recovery points a whole lot easier to install. Takes roughly 20 minutes.
Wait till NHTS wants mandatory front and rear dash cams. It’s coming!
I’d buy an F250 Lariat tomorrow if Ford offered better financing incentives.
This is why I bought a RHO also.
9:33 pricing is ALWAYS based on the market! COSTS go up when there are new required safety features. They’re not linked in any predictable way.
Automatic braking works great for shadows 😅 ha,ha.
Easier to pull to the junkyard when that 3.5 turbo motor blows up
The shackles look like skin tags. That's not a good solution lol
25k for an old Toyota. I wouldn't pay more than $5k for that truck. 😂😂

I added AFE hooks. Easy
Well, that’s good. They should’ve been no head though. I was wondering like what’s up with this no toe hooks. These people must be nuts lol
Hey list the truck on Bring a trailer it will sell in 7 days

No thanks...
Basal cell carcinoma...please go see a Dr. ASAP.

The tundra is still worst in class and not worth it.
Safety equipment saves peoples lives, that’s probably a good thing 😂😂😂
