    • @tritchie6272
      @tritchie6272 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I think a real Dakota would be a good idea. If it will fit offer a 5.7 hemi or a hurricane as an option. It don't even have to be the High output if its a midsize. Although that just might sell if its affordable.But I think a Dakota that favors the old Dakota and is a legit body on frame midsize with a Hemi would get some good attention. Just make it reasonably priced and decent quality. Then if they can fit the Hurricane let it be an option and the Market can choose. I think the market is mostly rejecting the EV garbage. So they should stop trying to force it. If they want a small EV line for the small niche that wants it,and maybe it will passify some government tyrants, I can understand. But don't force it,let customers buy what they want. Alot of us ain't ready to give up our internal combustion engine.

  • @wvcorvetteman
    @wvcorvetteman วันที่ผ่านมา +5

    They have lost track of what gave them so much market share since 2014. FCA gave us a lot of value. Which brought in a lot of new customers. The problem is they have raised the prices way too much! The reason people gave them a chance was the value proposition. GM & Ford both still offering V8’s in their half ton. Ram should have offered the Hemi with the Hurricane.

    • @tritchie6272
      @tritchie6272 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I think they need to start giving options instead of trying to force things on everybody. • @Pickuptrucktalk
      @Pickuptrucktalk  วันที่ผ่านมา +6

    • @aoeuuaoaou
      @aoeuuaoaou วันที่ผ่านมา

      1) Look at Toyota’s sales. They’ve been losing market share for 3+ years, now they are dropping unit sales.
      2) That’s a crazy price for running 6/2 wire through a house. Get another quote. ((FYI: I did my own with that sort of config on my last house. Was easier to trench direct bury through the flower bed & punch through Brice wall on the back of the garage. Two story McMansions can have goofy structure to gush through.

    • @aoeuuaoaou

      BTW, rural is better for BEVs. I’ve run BEV only for 6+ years now, still almost 20 miles from nearest public charger, first few yearst we were 35+ miles to the nearest one.

      Because ultimately hybrids cost the most on build & maintenance, second place behind BEV on fuel.
      Trucks might still have something of a window left for hybrid, maybe Ramcharger has some runway, but that’s closing fast.

  • @Alyosha00
    @Alyosha00 วันที่ผ่านมา +5

    So Tim, it's evident now that Stellantis was doing a bunch of things wrong, which I believe you were reluctant to admit. There are a lot of problems with the company, but the big drop in sales was probably Tavares' guillotine. You previously reported that the drop in sales was due to CAFE standars, wrong trim availability on dealer lots, or perhaps California's fault. All of those were cheap excuses that Tavares was trying to sell to Wall Street. The real reason why sales were down so much was twofold. First, they had a poor product line-up. Second, they raised prices excessively. Both were Tavares' mistakes. The CEO's main job is to predict where the market is going and put in place a product portfolio that fits, at least decently. Ford and GM have much better product portfolios. The excessive price increases were a complete failure in calibrating how inelastic the demand for Jeep and Ram is. News to Tavares: the demand is not very inelastic. Jeep is not Porsche. If you increase prices by 50% in 3-4 years, the demand for your product dries up. In my humble opinion, Tavares should have never been promoted beyond COO (chief operating officer). The man apparently is an industrial cost expert, but he does not understand strategy and does not get the passion that customers have for cars and trucks. Jim Farley and Mary Barra seem to be much more adequate in the CEO role-- Jim Farley should probably fire his COO, though (given how much trouble in quality and supply chains they have).

      Do you think that Stelantis only has problems with its brands in the USA?! I can tell you that's not true, the group has even more problems in Europe with its brands,... sales are also falling a lot here, the problem is you have two brands here but the same vehicle and all the new ones only come as electric. .. Fiat, Alfa, have almost been forced out of the market, they don't have enough models, it's like Crysler with only one vehicle... and to save costs they just want the same engine across all brands chassis.. Jeep in Europe, the old Grand Cheeroke was once the best-selling SUV with diesel, and as a petrol engine, the last generation now costs too much and is only available as an X4 Hybrid with 4 cylinder like the Jeep Wrangler with the same engine, and all cost well over USD 86.000-100.000,- so we will see in which direction Stellantis now go….

    Pretty crazy stuff. Thanks for reporting. I've heard both the Dodge Charger EV is a disaster (it's bricking at dealerships), and the Ram 1500 REV is doing the same in testing. There is going to be some tough times coming in 2025. PHEV is where things should be heading for the short term. I think Toyota is about to introduce a bunch of them (I did a video about that today).

    • @Pickuptrucktalk

      I think PHEV is overblown. When you look at the ROI, it takes forever to get your money back. Plus several studies have found people don’t actually charge their PHEVs at all.

    • @BigBilly7
      @BigBilly7 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      PHEV problem number 1 is that if you try to drive electric most of the time you will cycle the small battery to death. The small battery won't last as long as a bigger battery in a BEV that doesn't need to charge 0 to 100 everyday. Go ice or BEV. Maybe a range extender for the nervous Nancy's out there.

      @@Pickuptrucktalk As far as owners not plugging in.. yeah you can't fix lazy and stupid. Although depending on gas prices and how much you pay for electricity, there might not be much of a difference (we have solar). I've had a RAV4 Prime for about 3 years. Absolutely love it. The big thing about PHEV's is that you can do your daily commuting on all EV.. and then use the gas engine for long trips. The other thing, is because of the large battery and motors, typically PHEV's have great performance. There are a lot of pickup owners/buyers that have been clamoring for a PHEV Truck. Just watch. We can talk again in a year, and we'll see what happens.

      @@BigBilly7 Toyota PHEV's keeps extra battery on reserve, so it doesn't get fully depleted. We've had our's for 3 years, and we have the exact same range as we've had when we first purchased her. Also, with PHEV's, even if you lose a little bit of range, you still have a great hybrid system.

    This is going to be long.
    But honestly as a 2025 Ram Hurricane owner, I'm fine with the Hurricane engines. They are powerful and power delivery is progressively natural. What Stellantis needs to do is try and bring more cars to the market. Probably with fuel economy in mind. To help offset the company mpg average. Also find a way to make the half-ton trucks lighter and mix in a hybrid system to the RAM 1500 SST SO and HO.
    Like what someone else said, follow the market and bring back the Dakota. They should have brought back the Dakota before producing the Gladiator. The Gladiator has some of the best approach and departure angles but it's break over angle is fairly bad. It's also quite a bit more expensive than the competition. Like Ford, utilize the Hornet platform and produce a unibody small truck. That right there fills out Ram's lineup. Full-size, mid-size, and small size pickups.
    The Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer should make Durango and Grand Durango. The Durango will proceed as normal just get updated riding on the same unibody platform. Competing against the Highlander. The Grand Durango will be the body on frame competitor to the Tahoe. Bring back a modern Journey to place it between the Hornet and the Durango.To help facilitate the base price of the new Charger, they should throw in the 2.0t i4 from the Guilia. So that the Chargers engine lineup is 2.0t, replace the SO SST with a 5.7 Hemi for the midrange engine. Then throw in the HO SST as the top of the line engine. 4, 6, and 8 cylinders for all types of people. It'll be a waste of money but shelve, not drop, but shelve the EV Chargers for now. But Dodge should a lineup like so, the Chargers, Hornet, Journey, Durango and Grand Durango. Aside from the Chargers try implementing hybrids across all models.
    Jeep for the most part is fine, maybe drop the Gladiator in favor for what should be the Ram Dakota.
    Doing this will help fill out the models that's sorely missing from Dodge and Ram. There is just so many brands under Stellantis right now. They are probably having a hard time trying to figure out what to do with all of them. They can try and bring more models out by utilizing all the engines that they have. Maybe replacing some engines, like replacing the 2.9tt v6 from the Giulia for the 3.0tt i6. That's one less engine to develop with a larger variety of power for the Giulia can then be had in 2.0t, 420 hp 3.0tt and 550 hp 3.0tt. Lower the price to the Giulia 2.0t to better fit pricing for the 3.0tt SO and make the HO the Quadrifoglio pricing. Chrysler is pretty much dead. Only having one model in its lineup, replace that brand for Alfa Romeo. Utilize the Jeep RWD/AWD platforms and make performance SUV's for Alfa Romeo. To be better suited to compete with MB, BMW, Audi, Cadillac and Lincoln.
    So the brands, at least for the US. Will be as follows:
    Ram with 3 trucks, 2 body on frame one unibody.
    Jeep mostly the same with the exception of the Gladiator. The luxury off-road brand.
    Dodge as the mainstream brand. With 2 and 4 door Chargers, Hornet, Journey, Durango and Grand Durango.
    Then Alfa Romeo, the luxury sport brand. Utilizing Jeeps RWD architectures to make sporty crossovers to compete with the likes of BMW, MB, and Audi. Aside from using the 2 v8 engines and the naturally aspirated v6. Utilize all the turbo engines. So Alfa Romeo will have a range of 4 cylinder engines, hybrid assist powertrains, and 2 variations of tt 6 cylinder engine. Become the brand that Cadillac decided not to be. Sure they have the Blackwing models and the Escalade V. But that's it, Alfa Romeo could have a performance or even hybrid variations of most if not all of their models.
    Maserati if anything, segregate it's suppliers, only use high end interior materials. Maserati has been known to be using Ram and Dodge materials for a while. That needs to stop.
    If I was the incoming CEO that is what I'll do. At least for the US market.

      Yet the Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer are using the Ram 1500s platform. They are not entirely separate. Platform sharing would be far more cost effective. IMO having a cheaper Dakota instead of the more expensive Gladiator would not only make more sales. But it would most likely be more profitable despite selling more units for a slightly lower price tag. If anything like the Canyon/Colorado duo, sell them along side one another. At least look-wise there will be far more differentiation between the Mopars then between the GM twins.

    Most consumers want consistency. Consistency of product, performance, and quality.
    All manufacturers have failed miserably at this over the past 3 or 4 years, including Toyota, but Stellantis has failed at this most spectacularly.
    Financially, Stellantis is in very bad shape. The likelihood that they are able to crawl back into profitability without selling off parts of the company is slim to none.
    The only automaker doing worse is Nissan.
    I doubt Stellantis will survive in its current configuration and will look very different a year from now.

    RAM needs to take care of their existing customers. That way, I wouldn't need to jump start my 2023 RAM after two days of camping when the whole thing goes completely dead. Any they could make the RAM actually be able to charge it's own battery during a 3 hour drive on the freeway instead of slowly killing the battery until a tow is needed. Oh yeah, and they could make trailer light check actually work --- you know after service visits and a ticket open for a year. Oh and my truck wouldn't slam on the brakes in reverse backing into my driveway when no one is around --- that would be a good fix --- you know because a little 10 inch incline should be pretty doable. Oh and RAM could make it so I can actually CALL my dealer for recall service instead of being sent to voicemail 3 times now and never getting a single call back. Oh and they could fix the navigation so it would not freeze after a pit stop and become useless in the middle of a 3 hour roadtrip. Oh yeah, and they should fix the target trailer tire pressure setting so it doesn't reset to "50 psi" every trip. Dear RAM ---- Fix sh*t for your existing customers before you build more shiny stuff with new engines.
