Can’t say I played 3 or 4 enough to know if 5 really is just a “fresh coat of paint”, but I know I couldn’t get into 3 and 4 for whatever reason whereas 5 is pulling me in somehow.
My biggest complaint from this game is the same one I had for UFC 4. When you get deep into your career you notice that some fighters retire but others keep fighting into their late 40s. They need to add created fighters to the game so you don’t end up fighting the same 4 guys over and over again.
I'd love original randomly generated fighters in career mode with irl fighters making rare appearances like secret boss fights. Imagine you go through career mode only fighting original characters and have a randomly generated rival, but then out of nowhere your next fight is Jon Jones or something? That would actually feel special and cool, but instead they have you fight the same guys over and over again so you actually end up deep into your championship run at 51 yrs old fighting Jon Jones for the 9th time.
That’s so lame 🤦♂️ how have they not figured that out after 5 games? We’ve had the technology available to add random fighters since UFC 1 so that’s not the reason. Seems to me like they’re complacent releasing an underwhelming product because they know they’ll still capitalize, akin to the CODs and 2Ks of the gaming industry. Wanderlei is no longer in 205 even though he had some of his most legendary matches there, you can't pair him up with Rampage or Chuck or Tito or Vitor even though he fought all those guys and he's not the only one.

Not only have I played every ufc game thats ever released, I watch the fights every weekend. Everything you said was scary accurate even though youve said in the past youre not a die-hard fan. Its an upgrade, and it is fun, but im glad there was a 10 hour trial on ea play because 70 dollars for a ufc 4 update is a little ridiculous
The way undisputed got better from game to game makes these EA ufc games laughable. Undisputed 3 was easily the best ufc game ever. The stand up and ground controls were actually fun to play and compete with. Especially against someone else who knew how to play.
Sucks it took asking Dana at a press conference for when they’ll release more fighters. Even then it’s still like 3-5 fighters dropping every month I think.

Miss undisputed 3’s grappling system. For me it just made sense having minor and major transitions and with enough time you’d automatically know what position your fighter would be going for. It was also easier to defend grappling transitions. I actually learned BJJ escapes and guard passes from Undisputed 3 that I use on blue belts today. The striking was a little arcadie but the dodging and counters were more intuitive.
Grappling system is the best of any MMA game to date. Striking is definitely the part that's aged the most, but I find the striking far less floaty than the EA games and it's muchhh easier to establish a rhythm off of one another. All in all, it's easily the best MMA Sim experience, even now
Well those games it worked, everything worked brilliantly, these EA UFC games all 5 of them are boring Dull, lifeless and the combat is bad. Yuke and THQ even did price rules at the end of their lifetime. EA Vancouver hasn’t been allowed to innovate once yet.

Not only the grappling, even the player models were better back then, I mean, even GSP's swollen knees and Big Nog's back scar were spot on. And they also had the cuts and doctor stoppages they're marketing for this one. Not to mention customization. You could make your own gear and banners. That game was and still is beyond its time.
It's crazy how much potential MMA has for all sorts of different creative video games. They could have one kind of game of all types of styles. Physics effects, art styles, vibe, realism-to more over the top exaggerated. The possibilities are endless with how many good UFC MMA games they could make! I can't stand that it's locked up and controlled solely by EA & the way they've handled this...

My favorite was UFC 2. It had faster standing combat. Punches in 3 & 4 were to way too slow. It felt like a full second delay with punches. I’ll see how 5 goes.
2 was the best, I was like 45-0 online in championship matches with the gold and black trunks that game was dope. I remember I bought ufc3 and it turned me off to the whole franchise it was so horrible.
Spot on review as some who’s played all the MMA games since UFC ‘09. The submission system and online career mode are the best parts of 5. Otherwise, some nice quality of life changes here and there as far as animations and some other things. The career mode is basically the same which is stupid. No press conferences or anything else. Best way to sum up this game and what EA does or doesn’t do is… Herb Dean is the only ref in all the UFC venues lol.
Fair and realistic commentary. Shiney coat of point indeed. Also as a long time mma fan who has practiced bjj and wrestling for many years, I do not enjoy the ground game in UFC games. I'll pick stand and bang or just insist on staying standing in a regular bout. Didn't matter when I got decent at the ground game in game, it was frustrating.
Story DLC that leans into the M rating would be a blessing to this game. They can pretty much create these fictional fighters from different pockets of the world. Give them an interesting back story like a Japanese Sumo/Judo Heavyweight with full body Yakuza tattoos or a bantamweight Muay Thai fighter who starts in the Kumite. There is endless possibilities on how deep their stories can go. The Fight Night Champion writers should be working on this
This the one right here. I mainly played UFC 4 for career, and when 5 got announced with the M rating, my dumbass had a little slither of hope of a good career, but EA will be EA 💀

I mean this channel’s great for first impressions, but they never really analyze gameplay past a surface level, and don’t really draw comparisons or have much to say about video games as an art form. It makes sense because this whole series is based on getting the review out very quickly

I've noticed with the new ufc games its honestly better to wait a few months before buying because if they handle it anything like 4 it'll feel like a different game with a few updates (we all have short memory but 4 was a mess at first) an i guess that is good that they dont throw a game out an forget about they tweak it with major changes an listen to feedback but at the same time when the game is 70 dollars you'd hope they would've done more to the day 1 version
UFC Undisputed 3 had the most fun gameplay and modes, and UFC 2 had the best rag doll physics. This game is improved graphics but basically a copy-paste like the FIFA, NBA, and Madden series

I have ufc 4 and thought maybe with the ufc and Dana white involved we’d get something better than the madden treatment but saw the trailer and some of the review articles and felt like I was largely getting the same game. Your review pretty much confirmed it’s that with a few updates. I really don’t understand the monopoly EA has on sports games with how lazy they are in development.
UFC 4 was my main game with almost 1k hours on it and I enjoyed the upgrade solely because it’s an upgrade of something I already play often. If you weren’t that into UFC 4 and are expecting a revolutionary difference in 5, save your cash. Agree with most of what’s said in this video
It seems to me like this is what UFC 4 was meant to be originally but they were just lazy as hell with 4. UFC 4 felt a lot different to UFC 3 whereas 5 just feels like an upgrade. That being said I'm a sucker just like you and have bought it and know full well I'll play it more than most other games 😂
The thing i hate the most about the game is the career mode in that they didn't really change too much. Yeah they added some cut senses but it is still feels the same as 4. Glad i used my ea trail and played through tla career instead of buying it.
The ground game is way more technical. As it should be. You have so many different submissions, positions, and positional changes when it comes to MMA. There’s wrestling, judo, BJJ, kungfu etc. you have to take all that into consideration. You’re striking game isn’t simple either. Boxing, kickboxing, mauy Thai, karate etc. you have to set up. Feints, Combos, masking, setting up. All of it is technical. yes you can spam but that’s what makes so many casual players gravitate to staying standing.
I've seen some gameplay and the graphics at time can look whacky/glitchy, especially when grappling. Do we know if they'll patch that up? cause I want to buy this.
Also on Career Mode Online is super fun. Also, that crazy delay is gone. If you end in up a laggy match then it's another story. But, then again it can be like that no matter what game you playing.
Just the submission getting rid of the mini game makes me want to try this out. I've loved all the games but could never get a good grip on the submission game. Was always a bummer because submission is my favorite part
As someone who's played the UFC games a ton, and has also spent years in martial arts, getting the Jiu Jitsu rights is pretty much going to be impossible on a controller, and even on PC it would be pretty difficult. When you say the striking and grappling feel like different games, it's because they are. Grappling is just an infinitely more complex game than striking is, and trying to cover it with 4 buttons and sticks isn't gonna be easy.

Fight Night Champion is still to this day the best realistic / sport fighting game ever made. Andre Bishop was a really cool character and the story in that game I thought was the start of boxing games starting something amazing, but sadly it died there and then. Such a shame.
I haven’t played 5 but I have played 2, and the levels of complexity have really impressed me. I train BJJ irl and I was surprised to see how many hidden moves that play off of transition attempts from your opponent.
UFC 4 was extremely fun but it got old too fast. I was done with it in like 2-3 months. Longer story mode and more unlockable to "grind" for would possibly help
As someone whose never played a game in this franchise, I think I will pick up UFC 5 eventually, I was close to getting UFC4 but saw five was coming out soon and was awaiting reviews. It sounds like I'm better off getting UFC5 on sale/discount If the games come out every 3 years or so with little changes, getting an older version make me tired of the series sooner. Trust bro I bought game day one it’s not worth your 70 dollars if you played ufc 4 you know the submissions are bad and the ground and pound doesn’t even look real at least here it looks a bit better ufc 3 and 2 were there best things but they really should take a look a undisputed 3 ground game and clinch game that game is the most real mma game of the day you have rock feature on the ground you got all sorts of striking to throw and positions to be in and it’s all very fluid
I liked UCF 3 when you could hit your chosen Gym and do other things to get in shape for the fight as opposed to just sparring. Added to the feel of a proper camp. Gym Day, Technique Day, Sparring Day, Promotion Day, you could do a lot more with your time.
As a videogames and martial arts passionnante I have to say I’m pretty surprised you even mentioned it considering those two passion are not really compatibles. But you did good on there very on point.

Definitely the best ufc game ever. But its also not worth 70. The ground game, submissions and blood are the biggest improvements. Gameplay feels more balanced than ever. Fight stoppages happen a little too often against the cpu. I’ve defeated the cpu on normal and hard with blood stoppages wayyy too often. Maybe in the harder difficulties its harder to achieve but I’m not sure I want to play the game versus the cpu on the harder difficulties because the balance of difficulty feels right on hard difficulty. I haven’t played against a human player to know wether fight stoppages happen at the same rate.

A lot has stayed the same but the stand up has changed a bit but its in the nuances like the timing, the way the strikes feel like the hooks for example, but at the naked eye it does look the same.
This review is spot on but I do feel that people who are avid players of the series can feel the changing in how the striking feels. Sims,action is definitely the way to play imo
Cant snap legs, no groin shots reactions, no eye pokes, front side knee kicks still don't do shit which makes no sense. Sorry I'm gonna need more than basic fighting game expectations. Go play undisputed it literally has all these features and more. So sad😂😂😂🎉🎉🎉
We do feel the difference, and it wouldve been acceptable if it was a yearly release. Thing is that it takes years to release a new one, and we were hoping for more changes. Pretty disappointing, but that being said; i am having a lot of fun with it.
Shit man, even if they kept the gameplay entirely the same but changed the mycareer mode and made it more in-depth, I would’ve bought this in a heartbeat. To hear that it’s basically exactly the same with no changes to character creation makes this an easy decision to skip for me.

It’s crazy we haven’t had a instant replay feature in the EA UFC games. Like almost every sports game has an instant replay feature. Even EA’s Fight Night Champion had an instant replay feature. Just wild that EA doesn’t give two shits about making a good game
I was noticing this too! In 4 anyways. I've played "all" of them casually since high school. One of things that really stood out to me is how it's trying to lean into the sim it forgot it's a game too. Maybe I want to rewind to 30 secs and watch an exchange. Maybe there were multiple highlights in the match, in your head. You can't replay in match, see multiple moments, or control the camera or speed of the replay it gives you
I learned the ground game, it at least feels consistent. In MMA matches anyone who has more experience on the ground than their opponent will completely dominate. The new submission system is a plus for me.
My only issue is ranked. Can't stand the hourly shift in divisions. I wanna play feather weight and light weight but I have to wait four hours till I can. So just like UFC 4 I turn the game on and turn it right back off
One of the better reviews of UFC 5 on the internet unlike so many others where you'd wonder if they even played the same game we are playing by how glowing they are. I agree with the statement that this game is barebones... too many fighters have been removed and not replaced with new combatants, and a slew of Jiu Jitsu submission holds and moves have been removed to make way for the new seamless sub system. Its pretty much AEW Fight Forever all over again... pay full price for the bare minimum.
@@yspraj I know how it works, but not replacing new fighters in the game when you've removed so many from the roster already does not make the game a value proposition. Hence why alot of folks will wait for the game's price to drop rather than being ripped off paying for so little in the way of content.
The ground game is actually a totally different world than striking so i guess thats why, I'm biased though, big gamer and big mma fan who loves grappling so i just got this today and love the grappling, with them going with realism, it should be completed

they didnt even add any new fighters. Mokaev, Umar, Bryce, Drew Dober, Geoff Neal, Ian Garry, Jailton, Spivac all are missing. I can understand Ngannou being removed due to issues, but Brock Lesnar is also removed and they didnt even bother adding any new ones maybe Don Fryue, Bas Rutten, Cro Cop, Randleman etc. they only added Tyson, Ali and Fedor thats all. all else they added are some Alter egos which are just skins and more skins for Bruce Lee.
This has to do w/ the way they do rights. If it's still the way I remember it, UFC contracts get them to sign off their likeness rights, or w/e it's called. It's very scummy.

THQ's UFC games had it right more than a decade ago for the ground game: half and quarter circles with the right stick to try and transition, hold right stick back to try and block them, and just uses strikes to mess up your opponent's timing.
I don’t mind the ground feeling totally different than standing, as from a fighting perspective the skills necessary are totally different. My biggest complaint is no PC version.

It’s a fairly solid UFC addition. It’s basically UFC 4 with some extra touches. Worth it if you don’t own a UFC game. If you already have 4 I would wait for a sale. IGN gave it a 9/10 😂 for me (without comparing how much 5 is similar to 4) it’s a 7.8/10

UFC Undisputed 2010 was the only game where I broke a controller out of frustration. Constantly being clinched and not being able to just push the guy off of you was just so damned frustrating - it was also the only game I sold back to Game Stop. Not sure I can commit back to the franchise.
I havent played the series since early xbox 1 and i might give this a look after a sale and some updates. I really feel like some graphical stuff needs to be refined

I just wish there was an actual story mode with a voiced character. Imagine actually controlling your character in a semi-openworld, train, go out to eat stuff and watching out to not eat too much so you won't get above weight, do missions, meet people. I know it's too much to ask for but I've always imagined a race game where we can get out of the car or a boxing game that's not only boxing. PS5 and current-gen might be able to give us some stuff like that.
The issue I have with all UFC games is the hits seem slow and clunky. I understand that fighting in real life is different than in fiction, but I’m tired of sports games trying to be “realistic.” Games should be fun and when I throw a heavy punch I want that punch to feel and look powerful.

Watching this video on the console and had to open it for comments. This was great, it 100% feels like a fresh coat of paint. It's FUN but once you play enough it has some glaring issues on top of the many reused assets and unlockables. UFC titles are some of my most played titles and 5s striking feels great but it needs some love and microtransactions are awful.
The fact that Undisputed 3 a game from 2012 looks better than this arcade pile of shit is unbelievable. THQ really pushed realism to the best as they could, you can feel the love for MMA playing Undisputed games and the ground system was the best ever built. EA took everything away. The animations looks terrible, off, like the fighters have a stick deep into their butt or something. But hey, this is EA. We're used to it. Dana should've never allow EA to ruin the UFC franchise.

I've taken some BJJ classes, and while that means I'm no expert, I can safely say that it takes a talented fighter to keep someone on the ground who wants to stand up. You can never lose control or provide an opening. It's an aspect of MMA that I wasn't expecting when I came over from Taekwondo, and it gave me a new appreciation for ground skills.

Miss undisputed 3’s grappling system. For me it just made sense having minor and major transitions and with enough time you’d automatically know what position your fighter would be going for. It was also easier to defend grappling transitions. I actually learned BJJ escapes and guard passes from Undisputed 3 that I use on blue belts today.
The striking was a little arcadie but the dodging and counters were more intuitive.
Grappling system is the best of any MMA game to date. Striking is definitely the part that's aged the most, but I find the striking far less floaty than the EA games and it's muchhh easier to establish a rhythm off of one another. All in all, it's easily the best MMA Sim experience, even now

Well those games it worked, everything worked brilliantly, these EA UFC games all 5 of them are boring Dull, lifeless and the combat is bad. Yuke and THQ even did price rules at the end of their lifetime. EA Vancouver hasn’t been allowed to innovate once yet.

Not only the grappling, even the player models were better back then, I mean, even GSP's swollen knees and Big Nog's back scar were spot on. And they also had the cuts and doctor stoppages they're marketing for this one. Not to mention customization. You could make your own gear and banners. That game was and still is beyond its time.
Id really like the knockout replays to include the prior combination leading up to the final blow.
It's crazy how much potential MMA has for all sorts of different creative video games. They could have one kind of game of all types of styles. Physics effects, art styles, vibe, realism-to more over the top exaggerated. The possibilities are endless with how many good UFC MMA games they could make! I can't stand that it's locked up and controlled solely by EA & the way they've handled this...

My favorite was UFC 2. It had faster standing combat. Punches in 3 & 4 were to way too slow. It felt like a full second delay with punches. I’ll see how 5 goes.

Spot on review as some who’s played all the MMA games since UFC ‘09. The submission system and online career mode are the best parts of 5. Otherwise, some nice quality of life changes here and there as far as animations and some other things. The career mode is basically the same which is stupid. No press conferences or anything else.
Best way to sum up this game and what EA does or doesn’t do is… Herb Dean is the only ref in all the UFC venues lol.

Fair and realistic commentary. Shiney coat of point indeed. Also as a long time mma fan who has practiced bjj and wrestling for many years, I do not enjoy the ground game in UFC games. I'll pick stand and bang or just insist on staying standing in a regular bout. Didn't matter when I got decent at the ground game in game, it was frustrating.
Story DLC that leans into the M rating would be a blessing to this game. They can pretty much create these fictional fighters from different pockets of the world. Give them an interesting back story like a Japanese Sumo/Judo Heavyweight with full body Yakuza tattoos or a bantamweight Muay Thai fighter who starts in the Kumite. There is endless possibilities on how deep their stories can go. The Fight Night Champion writers should be working on this

I've noticed with the new ufc games its honestly better to wait a few months before buying because if they handle it anything like 4 it'll feel like a different game with a few updates (we all have short memory but 4 was a mess at first) an i guess that is good that they dont throw a game out an forget about they tweak it with major changes an listen to feedback but at the same time when the game is 70 dollars you'd hope they would've done more to the day 1 version

I have ufc 4 and thought maybe with the ufc and Dana white involved we’d get something better than the madden treatment but saw the trailer and some of the review articles and felt like I was largely getting the same game. Your review pretty much confirmed it’s that with a few updates. I really don’t understand the monopoly EA has on sports games with how lazy they are in development.
UFC 4 was my main game with almost 1k hours on it and I enjoyed the upgrade solely because it’s an upgrade of something I already play often. If you weren’t that into UFC 4 and are expecting a revolutionary difference in 5, save your cash. Agree with most of what’s said in this video
It seems to me like this is what UFC 4 was meant to be originally but they were just lazy as hell with 4. UFC 4 felt a lot different to UFC 3 whereas 5 just feels like an upgrade. The thing i hate the most about the game is the career mode in that they didn't really change too much. Yeah they added some cut senses but it is still feels the same as 4. Glad i used my ea trail and played through tla career instead of buying it.
The ground game is way more technical. As it should be. You have so many different submissions, positions, and positional changes when it comes to MMA. There’s wrestling, judo, BJJ, kungfu etc. you have to take all that into consideration. You’re striking game isn’t simple either. Boxing, kickboxing, mauy Thai, karate etc. you have to set up. Feints, Combos, masking, setting up. All of it is technical. yes you can spam but that’s what makes so many casual players gravitate to staying standing.
I've seen some gameplay and the graphics at time can look whacky/glitchy, especially when grappling. Do we know if they'll patch that up? cause I want to buy this.

Also on Career Mode Online is super fun. Also, that crazy delay is gone. If you end in up a laggy match then it's another story. But, then again it can be like that no matter what game you playing.
Just the submission getting rid of the mini game makes me want to try this out. I've loved all the games but could never get a good grip on the submission game. Was always a bummer because submission is my favorite part
As someone who's played the UFC games a ton, and has also spent years in martial arts, getting the Jiu Jitsu rights is pretty much going to be impossible on a controller, and even on PC it would be pretty difficult. When you say the striking and grappling feel like different games, it's because they are. Grappling is just an infinitely more complex game than striking is, and trying to cover it with 4 buttons and sticks isn't gonna be easy.

Fight Night Champion is still to this day the best realistic / sport fighting game ever made. Andre Bishop was a really cool character and the story in that game I thought was the start of boxing games starting something amazing, but sadly it died there and then. Such a shame.

I haven’t played 5 but I have played 2, and the levels of complexity have really impressed me. I train BJJ irl and I was surprised to see how many hidden moves that play off of transition attempts from your opponent.
UFC 4 was extremely fun but it got old too fast. I was done with it in like 2-3 months. Longer story mode and more unlockable to "grind" for would possibly help
As someone whose never played a game in this franchise, I think I will pick up UFC 5 eventually, I was close to getting UFC4 but saw five was coming out soon and was awaiting reviews.
It sounds like I'm better off getting UFC5 on sale/discount If the games come out every 3 years or so with little changes, getting an older version make me tired of the series sooner.

I liked UCF 3 when you could hit your chosen Gym and do other things to get in shape for the fight as opposed to just sparring.
Added to the feel of a proper camp.
Gym Day, Technique Day, Sparring Day, Promotion Day, you could do a lot more with your time.

Definitely the best ufc game ever. But its also not worth 70. The ground game, submissions and blood are the biggest improvements. Gameplay feels more balanced than ever. Fight stoppages happen a little too often against the cpu. I’ve defeated the cpu on normal and hard with blood stoppages wayyy too often. Maybe in the harder difficulties its harder to achieve but I’m not sure I want to play the game versus the cpu on the harder difficulties because the balance of difficulty feels right on hard difficulty. I haven’t played against a human player to know wether fight stoppages happen at the same rate.

A lot has stayed the same but the stand up has changed a bit but its in the nuances like the timing, the way the strikes feel like the hooks for example, but at the naked eye it does look the same.

We do feel the difference, and it wouldve been acceptable if it was a yearly release. Thing is that it takes years to release a new one, and we were hoping for more changes. Pretty disappointing, but that being said; i am having a lot of fun with it.
Shit man, even if they kept the gameplay entirely the same but changed the mycareer mode and made it more in-depth, I would’ve bought this in a heartbeat. To hear that it’s basically exactly the same with no changes to character creation makes this an easy decision to skip for me.

It’s crazy we haven’t had a instant replay feature in the EA UFC games. Like almost every sports game has an instant replay feature. Even EA’s Fight Night Champion had an instant replay feature. Just wild that EA doesn’t give two shits about making a good game

I've played "all" of them casually since high school. One of things that really stood out to me is how it's trying to lean into the sim it forgot it's a game too.
Maybe I want to rewind to 30 secs and watch an exchange. Maybe there were multiple highlights in the match, in your head.
You can't replay in match, see multiple moments, or control the camera or speed of the replay it gives you
That's something I loved about the Fight Night games. It can't be that difficult.
I learned the ground game, it at least feels consistent. In MMA matches anyone who has more experience on the ground than their opponent will completely dominate. The new submission system is a plus for me.
My only issue is ranked. Can't stand the hourly shift in divisions. I wanna play feather weight and light weight but I have to wait four hours till I can. So just like UFC 4 I turn the game on and turn it right back off

One of the better reviews of UFC 5 on the internet unlike so many others where you'd wonder if they even played the same game we are playing by how glowing they are. I agree with the statement that this game is barebones... too many fighters have been removed and not replaced with new combatants, and a slew of Jiu Jitsu submission holds and moves have been removed to make way for the new seamless sub system. Its pretty much AEW Fight Forever all over again... pay full price for the bare minimum.

@@yspraj I know how it works, but not replacing new fighters in the game when you've removed so many from the roster already does not make the game a value proposition. Hence why alot of folks will wait for the game's price to drop rather than being ripped off paying for so little in the way of content.

they didnt even add any new fighters. Mokaev, Umar, Bryce, Drew Dober, Geoff Neal, Ian Garry, Jailton, Spivac all are missing. I can understand Ngannou being removed due to issues, but Brock Lesnar is also removed and they didnt even bother adding any new ones maybe Don Fryue, Bas Rutten, Cro Cop, Randleman etc. they only added Tyson, Ali and Fedor thats all. all else they added are some Alter egos which are just skins and more skins for Bruce Lee.
This has to do w/ the way they do rights. If it's still the way I remember it, UFC contracts get them to sign off their likeness rights, or w/e it's called. It's very scummy.

Loading screens are so so slow, how Spider-Man 2 can fast travel in under 2 sec but ufc takes 20 sec to load a menu screen i will never know

THQ's UFC games had it right more than a decade ago for the ground game: half and quarter circles with the right stick to try and transition, hold right stick back to try and block them, and just uses strikes to mess up your opponent's timing.

It’s a fairly solid UFC addition. It’s basically UFC 4 with some extra touches. Worth it if you don’t own a UFC game. If you already have 4 I would wait for a sale. IGN gave it a 9/10 😂 for me (without comparing how much 5 is similar to 4) it’s a 7.8/10

UFC Undisputed 2010 was the only game where I broke a controller out of frustration.
Constantly being clinched and not being able to just push the guy off of you was just so damned frustrating - it was also the only game I sold back to Game Stop.

I just wish there was an actual story mode with a voiced character. Imagine actually controlling your character in a semi-openworld, train, go out to eat stuff and watching out to not eat too much so you won't get above weight, do missions, meet people. I know it's too much to ask for but I've always imagined a race game where we can get out of the car or a boxing game that's not only boxing. PS5 and current-gen might be able to give us some stuff like that.

The issue I have with all UFC games is the hits seem slow and clunky. I understand that fighting in real life is different than in fiction, but I’m tired of sports games trying to be “realistic.” Games should be fun and when I throw a heavy punch I want that punch to feel and look powerful.

Watching this video on the console and had to open it for comments. This was great, it 100% feels like a fresh coat of paint. It's FUN but once you play enough it has some glaring issues on top of the many reused assets and unlockables.
UFC titles are some of my most played titles and 5s striking feels great but it needs some love and microtransactions are awful.

The fact that Undisputed 3 a game from 2012 looks better than this arcade pile of shit is unbelievable. THQ really pushed realism to the best as they could, you can feel the love for MMA playing Undisputed games and the ground system was the best ever built. EA took everything away. The animations looks terrible, off, like the fighters have a stick deep into their butt or something. But hey, this is EA. We're used to it. Dana should've never allow EA to ruin the UFC franchise.
Bro you know you're a shit company when a game made 12 years ago is better than the current game you've invested tens of millions $ in. Also they removed so much stuff bro it's insane. You can't even move down in weight classes, Bruce buffer doesn't announce your name, the ground system is a joke, there's no immersion whatsoever. EA UFC is a high-budget cellphone game.

Pro tip people. If you don’t like the ground game, you can play only stand and bang mode. Even for the career mode.

I've taken some BJJ classes, and while that means I'm no expert, I can safely say that it takes a talented fighter to keep someone on the ground who wants to stand up. You can never lose control or provide an opening. It's an aspect of MMA that I wasn't expecting when I came over from Taekwondo, and it gave me a new appreciation for ground skills.
