Fireb0rn did a video on the Helldivers 2 doppelganger fiasco. There's a lot of shady things happening in Steam's shovelware community.

I'm interested to hear gameranx thoughts on the upcoming "Subliminal" game. It's advertised to be a procedural horror Backrooms escape game and looks very exciting with hyperrealistic visuals and plenty of nostalgic environments, however the game has suffered multiple delays and proceeds to post the same clips with a new one once in a blue moon, leading people to think they're simply Blender renders. I need Jake and Falcon's opinions!
The Day Before had my interest when it was in development, but I also wanted to wait when the hype wasn't center-stage, but the game itself. Phew! Falcon, I would love to hear your list of 10 unpopular games that you find fun. Those are the best to find some hidden gems that were originally lambasted by critics/fans.
"The Day Before" capitalized on the zombie survival mmo craze that started with the Arma 2 DayZ mod over 10 years ago. That mod influenced an entire generation of gamers and games between 2013 - 2019. Most of those games being early access scams. H1Z1, Rust, Miscreated, Scum, Nether, PUBG (PUBG would then go on to create battle royale mode which inspired Fortnite and created a billion dollar game) and several smaller games that copied the same format to earn money without publishing a finished game. These games used to dominate Twitch and TH-cam gaming. None of them however ever left early access except for Rust and PUBG which evolved into their own type of games. Since then DayZ launched it's own standalone game but still failed to meet expectations. Even the AA and AAA companies that were influenced by the 3rd person survival mmo hype like The Division failed to live up to expectations and I doubt any game ever will. The moment I saw The Day Before I knew it was the latest in a long line of disappointments and scams.
Oh man I i remember being really excited for Project Phoenix when I first found it. It sounded interesting with all the big names behind it and it looked to have combat that reminded me of Growlanser. But then it imploded spectacularly.

And also the kernel level chinese anticheat suspiciously detecting things from completely different areas on your computer
Skull & Bones should’ve been on this list
I was so hyped for "The Day Before." But I accept that disappointment is a part of life.
"Mom's Machine Gunner" 😂😂😂
Star Citizen comes to mind.
I was impressed with how good Project Wingman turned out to be. That was one of those rare kickstarters that actually succeeded. And that game was mostly made by like 3 people.
All gacha should be on this list!
... no ?
You forgot Cyberpunk 2077 bro
You almost had me, I was about to dispense Democracy on you for that. 😂
Well played!
Shouldnt Star citizen be in the list??🤔
We need to stop buying digital games as a community or we will lose physical copies and believe me he wants his copies around
Swaying the masses to to do this will be impossible thoe it sucks.
Ok we did a part 2 this video was so interesting!!
Chronicles of Elyria should’ve been number one. At least Star Citizen has SOME gameplay, but CoE has never had ANY play.
I absolutely loved Fable 2. One of my first game obsession in an early childhood
Fireb0rn did a video on the Helldivers 2 doppelganger fiasco. Apparently a lot of games were attempting to do this and, IIRC, it goes a bit deeper than just "oohoo, you bought the wrong game by mistake. Don't hit the refund button." There's a lot of shady things happening in Steam's shovelware community.
number one is star citizen. they somehow made only an alpha after 13 years and millions of dollars but people will still argue “WeLl ItS a ReAlLy CoOl GaMe ThAt GeTs UpDaTeS oNcE a YeAr”
I'm interested to hear gameranx thoughts on the upcoming "Subliminal" game.
Add Ashes of Creation as well to this list.
The Fable series has always been one of my favorites.
I thought for sure after that intro that CryptoZoo was going to be front and centre here
Falcon my guy you having a good time having a good time right here😂
Oh man I i remember being really excited for Project Phoenix when I first found it. It sounded interesting with all the big names behind it and it looked to have combat that reminded me of Growlanser. But then it imploded spectacularly.
Surprised not to see Identity RPG on here
I’ve been waiting for this😂
Falcon you thought that nobody caught that Lonely Island reference with the first entry, but I did. I got you.
Never thought I'd see Red Eclipse mentioned in a GameRanx video. One of the games I played in college by virtue of it being free in every way and I was broke.
Lol, the Lonely Island reference, having a good time ;)
Nice shout-out to Jauwn. He has a great channel and is doing work that no human should be subject to.
