Dead Space Extraction was an underrated gem in all aspects... giving more insight into what happened before the events of the first game, new areas of the ship and enriching the story. A good spin-off of the main series, just like the Mobile game, another underrated gem that also worked very well and look fantastic for mobile devices in 2011 (if we compare it to games nowadays on mobile it outstands most of them). Extraction and Mobile (the iOS version) had an additional mode to increase the replayability of the game. Extraction had challenge mode and Mobile iOS version had the survival mode.
I actually remember seeing someone’s gameplay footage of this on TH-cam, shortly after I tried out the first Dead Space. So I knew about this game’s existence, but never actually got around to exploring it further. Now that I have seen your positive review, it looks like something I could enjoy checking out. I still have my Nintendo Wii active and plugged into a separate TV at my place, allowing me to still play my old GameCube and Wii games whenever. So if I can secure my own copy, it should be simple to set up and play. The only thing delaying me is that I am still playing through all those Wii U Virtual console games, that I downloaded onto my system before the the store’s closing. Also, I am choosing between getting this game first versus getting “The Evil Within 2” or the PS4 remaster of “Turok: Dinosaur Hunter” first, respectively based on your other recommendation and a playthrough by Baffled Streams. BTW, am I the only one wondering why seemingly nobody else has commented yet? This comment section is looking pretty quiet, cold, and empty… almost like the vacuum of space. Where the hell is everybody? *hears “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star” and suddenly gets nervous*
I've launched the video on a weird day compared to normal (thursday) so it could be its not been pushed through yet....its very eerie 👻 Choosing between TEW2 or extraction is a tough one as they are so different from eachother! Both great games, with us being in Halloween season you can't go wrong with either
Honestly, everything Dead Space was so amazing, the world they built is beautiful, and I'm so happy that it's back being talked about and even expanded upon
I remember playing this game with my dad on PS3 when I was maybe 3, 4 or 5. Such a great game, I loved it. Even my sister, who rarely plays games, says she enjoyed it.
I’ve commented this on another DS:E video before: this was my gateway into the series. I had a Wii and thought it looked interesting because mature titles on the Wii were not common. I enjoyed it so much I went and purchased an XBox 360 so I could play 1 and 2.
I had a blast with this one!! I think some kind of hypothetical cross between this and RE Darkside Chronicles (without the wobbly camera) would be the best lightgun game ever.
If darkside sorted its camera and played more like extraction or even umbrella chronicles, it would certainly be in the conversation for best lightgun game for sure 👍
Omg, finally! When it came out, I was blown away by how under the radar this game was! I haven't really played the dead space on PC, but this wii rail shooter did give me the strategic dismemberment feel this series introduced to the shooter horror genre. Game like house of the dead and umbrella did fall short with more bugs and lack of polish. This game had it all! And I sadly remember getting it for 30$ long after release to declare it the best bang for the buck. I often debate if my highscore could rank with the world as one level I got 3 mill. In terms of complete gaming experience, this is one of the best, actual story, game play, mechanics. If it made more I would love and buy a updated refresh for switch or PC. I had thing for rail shooters cause game time is set, you can play and stop.
I'm a huge fan of Dead Space but never had giving Extraction a chance until now. Just finished the game today and I was happily surprised how good it was, especially story wise. At last I found out whose arm is floating on the first game's box art. Amazing lightgun game! Totally recommend it
I know that dev time and money would be better spent on a DS2 Remake, but imagine the potential of Motive using their VR experience and their experience remaking DS1 to make a VR Extraction Remake. Tbh I wouldn't mind if they did that before remaking DS2 and DS3 because Extraction isn't really accessable without an old console. I don't have high hopes for more AAA VR games if I'm honest, it's been 3 years since HL:A which was like, life-changingly good, but seemed to make no dent in the gaming landscape. I don't think VR is dead but AAA PC VR is probably on ice for awhile :/
When capcom had no confidence in their own light gun resi games to the point they retold old games for the majority of the game, visceral proceeded to tell a complete important story through the medium. Dedicated 😢
I've played the hell out of it on my wii back in the day, I only had the disc because it was the only thing I was able to find when I looking for it. Nowadays I don't know where it was left probably in some dusty storage back home along with a physical copy of madworld.
I've got a similar issue with most of my ps3 games, I think they are in my attic when I moved house but I'm worried they got left in a box in my old place 😭
Amazing review SSJDavey. Have only played through maybe an hour of this. Might hop in again on my wii! Also would love for you to do a review of System Shock 2 or the Bioshock games! Cheers!
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it! I've never played the system shocks but I've played and adored the bioshock series, I'd be keen to cover them at some point 👌
I played this game during a school week on the bus and man it was so good. Genuinely enthralled by it. I’m actually blown away that phone games couldn’t stay that high level of quality, and now we just get shitty Bejeweled ripoffs with flash-game animation
Do you mean the dead space mobile game? That's a different game than this one, I only learnt about the mobile game yesterday from this comment section. The mobile game looks incredible ngl
@@SSJdavey oh my god I saw the woman in the thumbnail and was like “I can think of only one game where you play as a woman” LOL Which I guess only proves that Extraction is very underplayed 🤔
Extremely! The mobile game looks mega interesting, don't know how the hell I'll download it or capture it so it might go on the back burner for now 😅 I'll look into it and if I can I'd love to try it, it looks really cool especially for a mobile game!
@@SSJdavey it’s basically just the same thing as the original dead space but a lot shorter. The gameplay is basically 1 to 1. They absolutely made use of the fact that it’s a phone though. You’ll love it if you ever get it working!! Good luck :]
I got this at launch for my Nintendo Wii, still have my copy too...such a damn good game. I hope they remake this game for the Nintendo Switch (or most likely Nintendo's next system) & put the entire Dead Space franchise on Nintendo systems as well.
@@SSJdavey Ground base like the original Dead space game with some on-rails segments added to it, or just, no rails at all. With some hefty exploration added as well. I feel it doesn't fit the original narrative of Isaacs style of gameplay..plus the graphics were atrocious for that game!
I was so far up motion controls ass when the wii launched, don't know what was wrong with me! I didn't get a ps3 till a year after it launched and I'm a massive PS fan 😅 As soon as I got on my ps3 my wii sat there gathering dust for the rest of the gen Depending on the genre motion games can be great, light gun games are one of those genres

Instead of a Dead Space remake, they should do it to Extraction with the PS5 with an option to play in the new PSVR 2. It's a no brainer.
Its EA leaving money on the table, I'd buy it 100%

I'd take it being re-released anywhere, there isn't enough light gun games now. They seem to be VR only which is a damn shame
We need these side games as remake-dlc or built into the eventual ds2 remake.

I love Lexine Murdoch in this game and wish we could play as her.

I remember it being pretty good
I'll look into it! Didn't realise their was a mobile game
For real it was really good I had to use one of those outside apps to get it since it wasn’t on the playstore at that type
i allways wanted a wii now there are even more reasons for that.
Tormented Souls OST :D !
Such a great OST 🔥
