    • @UndeadCollector
      @UndeadCollector 4 ปีที่แล้ว +587

      @@OldNorthFoxx222 The fans made it fail, because the 3rd Game was going away to be an Horror Game. It was not just more action based, it was also the first Game EA used to try out "microtransaction" in a Full Price Game. If you really try to compare the 3rd with the first 2 Games, then you maybe see, that the 3rd tries to be a "different" Games.
      The same happen btw with "F.E.A.R.". The 3rd Game was also more action based and the "Horror" parts are nearly none existend. I know that Fans can be "brutal" if it comes to there beloved series, but if it comes to try changing the Series overall, im totally understand the way of how a fan thinks.
      We also seen this with Resident Evil. Even with good sells of RE6, Capcom did go back more to Horror again, because RE is Horror, not just "pew pew".

      @Cryer24597 3 was reviewed unfairly in my opinion. I played it solo and co-op, and the optional sections with Carver's side missions were some of the best parts of the game. I agree the game got too "actiony" but it was still scary at certain points and I enjoyed the weapon customization. Shame on EA for adding microtransactions though. DS3 was a great game despite what reviews said.

    Having played through both the Callisto Protocol and Dead Space remake recently, it's crazy how these 2 games were directed by the same person. Callisto felt like an empty shell of a copy that doesn't understand the source material at all.
    It had good graphics and decent atmosphere but also the worst combat system i have ever seen in a game which ruined all immersion and tension. The Dead Space remake wasn't even made by the same people yet they clearly understand what made the original Dead Space great and improved upon every single aspect.
    It's a shame the person who originally came up with many of these ideas is so out of touch now.

      I would say game development isn't Hollywood: a studio leader can't put together the same team after the studio breaks up because everybody is not still living in Canoga Park and ready to go. It's disbursed enough and causes enough burn out that people have to move on and you can't get them back. So there's no pretending a director is an author.

      I don't feel like its fair to equate the result of a game with the ability of one person. Games are built on the backs of teams, and studios, and publishers, and in amongst all those bodies, a lot of things can go wrong
      Its easy to want to point the finger to one spot and have that have all the answers. But game development ain't easy. And so we gotta be considering the reasons for why one doesn’t turn out great isn't also

      @@joshuakhaos4451 I don't think you're really a minority here but I do disagree with you. What's happened is that guys like these don't make up the bulk of AAA teams anymore. Sure there's still some of them but most of them are after maximizing profits, their careers, etc. A team that has even some of those people is going to get dragged down some.
      The major companies are also just about all completely creatively bankrupt. They lost their best creative leads along the way and now they just have bland corporate ones. I mean just look at Ubisoft. Then again, some newer game studios really break ahead of the pack some times. The difference is that you don't hear about them as much because they don't have the advertisement and popularity of the long standing powerhouses of gaming. AA studios and emerging AAA studios are where I think you'll see the best games. Some indie games are also fantastic.

    I love how they're never afraid to credit re4 and talk about its influence whenever talking about what made dead space. This guy and the team behind this game are legends.

      That's honestly how all games are. That is the essence of art. Inspiration to create something entirely different. Its wild.

      They are, but this was par for the course when companies were actually in it for the game, not pushed/harassed by publishers and guided by the monetary gods in regards to content.

      It is. Most games gets delayed at least a month and most come out half done with dlc. What they did was remarkable

      @@heyimgoingtoplaysomegames No, Companies are always in it for money and they always were. Microtransactions are a innovation for companies to monetise. You cant change too much too soon else people will notice that change. Like, when you put a frog in cold water, then turn the heat on he is going to boil to death without noticing it. If you throw him in hot water, he is going to jump out.

    I stil remember playing Dead Space for the first time. I made sure I was home alone (because hearing your dad laugh about something from the living room is not exactly inflicting scary to the situation) and almost immediately, just as you take control, I was tense. And scared. And loved every single minute of it.
