Dude the timing of these videos couldn't be more perfect my wife just got me both of these games on Wii for our anniversary. Ive only played through the first one but I really enjoyed that game
If they wanna sequel Welcome to Raccoon city, I think plot points from Umbrella chronicles would be perfect for them to adapt with Chris and Jill trying to take down Umbrella. We get to see more of Chris, Jill and Wesker. But they gotta write Wesker better.
Albert Wesker DIalogue and voice acting is amazing in the sense that within context he pulls it off and he can use the exact same performance for the parody of it as well.
Darkside is such an underrated game, I remember asking for a new re game as a kid and my mom didn’t know the difference between all of them and got me this, but oh boy did I have fun. I probably played all 3 scenarios more than I can count. Sometimes even with friends
I'd watch a let's play of you playing House of the Dead 2. I loved it on the dreamcast back in the day. House of the Dead Overkill is awesome too. My wife voiced a zombie, boss and even sang one of the songs for that game.
I did always wonder what happened between Leon and Krauser I didnt quite get their relationship in resident evil 4 but I also didnt care to play the WII lightgun shooters at the time
Man, it is freaking crazy for me to think that Cavia of Drakengard and NieR fame were the ones who developed these RE spinoff games. It's especially noteworthy for me because the Darkside Chronicles was the last game they made before NieR and their dissolvement.
They also made Dead Aim back in the day, before Drakengard 1 even released. If you compare the two, in an odd way, Drakengard and Dead Aim had the same general tone and atmosphere. Even the music sounds similar to Drakengard, just take a look at the game's save room theme.
@@apexshadow8216 Oh yeah, I forgot that they made Dead Aim too. Huh... so the freaking save room music is Drakengard-esq? Now THAT will be interesting to hear. EDIT: Okay yeah, that safe room song would fit into Drakengard 1 perfectly.
I really enjoyed The Dark Side and Umbrella Chronicles in the Resident Evil franchise. Sure, they might not be the top games in the series, but I loved them. The cinematics were great, and I liked not having to move the character myself since the game does it for you, letting you focus on aiming and shooting. It was a fun run-and-gun experience on the Wii, PlayStation, or maybe even Xbox if it was available there. The run-and-gun style where you only focus on shooting while the game moves for you was just fun. Umbrella Chronicles covers events from Resident Evil 0, 1, and 3, while Dark Side Chronicles dives into stories between Resident Evil 2 and 4, including the first meeting and fallout between Leon and Krauser, explaining their animosity in Resident Evil 4. I liked seeing that instead of just reading about it. I think Umbrella Chronicles is worth playing if you’re not into playing Resident Evil 0 or 1 on PlayStation, but playing 0 and 1 on PlayStation is still worth it to get the full experience. Both versions are worth playing, but if you just want the gist of the story, Umbrella Chronicles is great, especially for Resident Evil beginners.
I keep hoping they put these onto Steam one day instead of letting them rot on the Wii/PS3. I will say though that I disagree with the comments on Alfred and Alexia as I think they were ruined in DSC, their dynamic in the original is far more creepy and strangely a little sweet, that even as twisted as Alexia was she still cared for Alfred.
Theirs nothing to really remake about it that would be a waste of time and money when theirs other wayyy more important Re games to remake when the chronicle games where just retelling the events from the previous games.
When I was at work earlier today I was like “I wonder if boulder punch has a new RE review, I haven’t checked in a while” this wasn’t posted yet but here I am now. What a coincidence. 😅
I remember love playing Umbrella Chronicles with my cousin. We beat the game many times. But we just couldn't get into darkside. We never ended up beating it. Shaky cam was a big reason for it.
I like the rail shooter REs, but that "I am a soldier" scene makes me womit. This single line sums up the whole seventh gaming generation, from Resident Evil to even Silent Hill Homecoming and many, many more. Unpopular opinion: I liked Umbrella Chronicles way more. I even 100%ed that game and got whatever the best rank was in every mission. Darkside Chronicles was just too story focused sometimes. It had too many annoying moments with characters just standing around and talking, or walking slowly while talking. Sometimes, the bosses had no life left but simply refused to die, because the game wasn't programmed to just skip the second phase of the battle, if you so happen to kill the boss early. All that killed the replay value for me. I don't want unskippable, slow, atmospheric moments in a rail shooter like that. I just want to pop some heads, damnit! The camera also didn't help. In fact, it gave me a severe headache after just a few minutes of playing. Overall, UC felt a lot more skill-based to me.
I think umbrella chronicles is the better rail shooter between the 2. Had much better camera movement. Had really good enemy placement, it seemed like there was alot more zombie on screen in umbrella Chronicles. Pacing was was better.
I agree. I liked Umbrella Chronicles more. Camera was better, especially because you could use a Wii nunchuck to peer around corners instead of just using it to change weapons. It was easier to pull off critical hits because of the way the cursor changed, and I preferred the grenade mechanism.
I love umbrella and dark side chronicles, I still remember 100% completing then with my brother back in the day. I can also say do don't remember the camera shake especially when using the gun attachments the Wii had at the time.
I think umbrella chronicles is the better rail shooter between the 2. Had much better camera movement. Had really good enemy placement, it seemed like there was alot more zombie on screen in umbrella Chronicles.
No it wasn't, health becomes auto and you cannot swap to a specific weapons only in order. That one was shit, you can't even upgrade the damn pistol, the gun you likely used most. The ammo being on the cursor is also annoying because you move that shit around.

Fun games, but not the best way to play past great RE games. Wish the new Leon and Krauser story from Darkside Chronicles was made into a real RE game.
@@Gruntvc First two CGI were decent but Vendetta and Infinite both saw a large dip in quality. With those it was just an excuse to have Leon be cool rather then tell an interesting story. Ironically Vendetta and Infinite Darkness are Leon’s worse appearances in the entire franchise.
