- It's hard to find a negative review of the Porsche Macan, and the GTS is viewed by many as the sweet spot of the range. In this video I give you a full review, comparing it to my recent drives of the Audi SQ5 and Range Rover Velar. I then talk to my friend Chris about how to source and finance such a car for less money than you think !

Great video. I agree 100%. In fact we are picking up our 2017 Macan GTS Friday and it's affordable enough that we are able to pay cash. No way if it was new. 30,000 miles for half price...SOLD!!! KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!

Great review once again. They just keep getting better. The inclusion of the car finance was very interesting. Wish I had known about 4C Prestige when I was searching for a car back in Feb. It certainly rung true re dealers wanting the quick sale and gettkng you out the door as soon as possible . Still very happy with my 15 plate F-Type nonetheless. Will ceryainly bear 4C in mind in the future.
15 plate F Type sounds pretty good ! I saw an 18 month old F Type Convertible V8 R AWD yesterday for £60k...man was I tempted !

Good review and informative Car finance info. I always go for low build number car models like my current FK2 Type R and RS3 to minimise depreciation. One car I always regret buying new was a BMW 1M as they have appreciated a lot in just a few years.

I’ve got the ‘small 2litre (Golf GTI) petrol engine Macan with more than 30,000 miles on the clock....I didn’t want a diesel.I just love it but for sure before I get much older I aspire big time to a GTS. Your clip has made me think to maybe look to an 18 month or two year old GTS as the way forward.....when of course they become available. Great video great insight from Chris @4C Prestige 👍

Brilliant review Ped. I am really pleased with my GTS and agree with all your well made observations. Downside is the PCM...not that great but driving is terrific. One thing to emphasize is that Macan GTS is a great private buy new because there seems to be evidence of these cars appreciating and not depreciating. Also most people would surely keep their new car beyond year 1 so figures on steep, early depreciation are just arbitrary. Therefore I wouldn't entirely agree with your guest that you should not buy new; the Porsche Macan GTS is an exception to this in my opinion.

I'd have to check but I'm pretty sure you can raise the ride height of 'Off Road'. So you could do that if the snow was deep ?!
the GTS in Canada here comes with PASM and air suspension, so ride height is adjustable
Love the review. Would like to see a compare with Macan GTS and the Tesla Model X 75D as in the states they are evenly priced at around $80k

Just watched it. Another great review. Not sure your format provides a compare and contrast, but that would be my request as Tesla doesn't really allow for test drives here unless you put $5k down. I am confused SQ5, Velar and Porsche (for me the Cayenne). The choices is just getting more difficult. Pete can you add the new X3 also in the mix. Then pretty please give us a comparison on these suv's. We in South Africa are still waiting for these models to hit shore.

I am about to pull the trigger on either leasing or financing a Macan S without PASM/AS or a GTS. $7k difference between the two the way I spec it. Which model would you recommend. I was thinking of leasing because the 2020 model will have a new chassis I believe and could be a much better Macan with a little more room and power.
They are both excellent choices. I've not driven the S but if you can stretch to the GTS you can't go far wrong.
Hello Pete, great review. I find myself watching review's releated to the GTS Macan. I have the privilege to own one, white pearl, with tan interior, and black dash board, with contrasting black seat belts. My chrono clock has a white face. I have the Bose system, I really wanted the high end sound system, I just didn't feel the $5k was worth it. Listen folks, it's the best car I've ever owned. It's fast enough to get you killed. On the other hand, it never failed to put a smile on my face every time I get in it. By the way, I don't drive it in the rain. I Brought the 7yr wheel package: check the price of those sport wheels, $2400.00 for one. That's a lot of steaks and theater shows. Great review, esp. Your guest. 😃 Greetings!

Great question. McLaren P1, Range Rover Sport SVR and a Caterham 620S ! The cool thing is I have a Caterham 620S Press Car for 5 days at the end of August. Stay tuned for some pretty cool content !

Thanks for the review and I appreciate your comparison between the SQ5 and Velar, but have you tried the AMG GLC43? Pretty sweet engine there too....and secondly what is your thought on the Macan S as opposed to the GTS even though I'm assuming you haven't driven one? Only 20hp less and I'd save $15K (in Canada anyway) minus a few options of course that are standard on the GTS.
Hi There. Going to try and get my hands on the AMG. For most people I think the Macan S would be perfect. Still a lot of performance and as you said, quite a bit cheeper. I also think they are much easier to come by !
Yes, I'd love to hear what you think of the Merc. I've driven one and was pretty impressed, however I love the Macan but haven't driven one yet, and am quite sure I'd love that too. Would love to hear your thoughts in comparison to the Macan. Cheers.
I can see your point Peter but going back to my point, that Macan for example would cost 25 grand on PCP over 3 years, then you hand the car back and walk away with nothing. If you bought a Discovery and a 911, both cars for around 25 grand. Both these cars are potential investments and would probably both increase in value and could be worth over 30 grand in 3 years time and possibly more in the future! Cheers. Jon.
jonscoupe good point Jon, but the 911 at that price point would be a 996 or Gen 1 997. Both can have eye watering maintenance bills and failures. Disco's have an almost cult following and we love them but can also be costly to maintain. Full warranties are essential. Gen II 997 Carrera S PDK is a peach however.....prices from early £40's..

Not sure I said it was better than the Turbo. I've not driven one of those but I am sure they would be awesome. I think the price and performance of the GTS strike a nice balance.

Not an easy thing to do. Totally different segment and price range. Mini has that gokart feel and is huge fun for sure. Macan is far more grown up, more premium, faster and more powerful. Excellent handling and feel but very different to the Mini 👍

the new bmw x3m comp outperforms this vehicle for sporty driving-unfortunately its a very harsh suspension
I’m going go to the market for my next vehicle but I’m between macan gts and cayenne gts.. I like the macan exterior just a beauty but not so much the interior. That’s where I like the cayenne the interior is just so sometimes else.
If you bought the Cayenne Turbo S like the one on WD in US the brakes would cost $5k for each corner.

Nice video, well explained, lovely car too, one downside, very poor quality, this car and other like it deserve 4K at the most, 1080 at the least, love to see this video in 4K. Keep up the good work though.
This was shot in 1080 at 60fps. Although my cameras can do 4K I don't shoot in it. Most of my views are still on mobile devices or computers and also file sizes and processing are a nightmare to deal with. Thanks for the feedback though :-)

Another great review. Mmmmmm. As I've mentioned before though, cars like these mix 4 x 4s and sports cars but I just don't think they do either that well. I think if you want a sports car, buy a lovely used Porsche 911 for the weekends and something like a Land Rover Discovery for the school run. Both these cars do perfect jobs for what a car like the Mecan is trying to achieve! Just my opinion :) Jon.

I bought a used Macan Turbo... she burns a quart of oil every 3 tanks of gas... but I don't care - I love it!!!

Still appreciated. Please don't take it as a negative, just a suggestion. Don't know what 'sourcing is" but 20 minutes of 'chat and ride' could have been cut to 18 or 19 to show the vehicle's attributes or shortcomings. The Macans are selling like hotcakes here and it just would have be nice to see the volume of the interior as well after the "interior is well laid out", etc. Thank you for the review.
and your comment, "large adults might struggle" would be explained with a "seating" in less than 20 seconds.
The Macan makes the Cayenne feel like a truck.

I asked ‘how affordable’ as the video was also talking about car finance. If it’s any consolation I can’t afford one either 😜😂
It's not a bad one, this Macan GTS but its Mercedes AMG equivalent (GLC Coupe AMG 43) edges it in BHP (367hp for Merc to 360hp for Macan) and Torque (520Nm for Merc to 500Nm to Macan). And I n the dash from 0-60mph, Merc AMG43 coupe races that in 4.9 secs, and Macan GTS in 5.2 secs. The AMG43 is also lighter than the Macan GTS and more fuel efficient, not to mention that it comes with more options as standard whereas you'd have to load up the Porsche with their expensive options in order to get it up to the Merc AMG43's standard kit. Finally, the AMG43 coupe OTR price is £51k and Porsche Macan GTS starts from £58k. Let's be real, the Mercedes-AMG 43 Coupe is better in every way than the Porsche Macan GTS. Period.

Petrol Ped you're on the mark mate. Actually, I'm a fan of AMG, BMW M cars, and Porsches. I drive them all and keep them if the overall package hits the mark.
You're doing a great job with the reviews by the way.
and you pay all that money for the mercedes that has inherent problems and has to have different tyres because its got a well known crabbing issue, also been a mercedes you lose a lot more value and they're not the best at holding up against rust neither
