Buying a Macan S in December of 2014 as my first Porsche product was a huge financial mistake. My experience with it caused me to buy multiple Porsche sports cars of which I currently own 5. Still have the Macan.
Yes, physical switch all the way. Mark is not a fan of it, probably only because he hasn't develop the muscle memory for it. When the driver develops the muscle memory for these switches, physical really is the way to go.
I love the stack in the Porsche. The haptic in the new models feels cheap and gets smudged the second you touch it. "Get used to it" is also over blown, it takes literally one drive and you know how to use the functions.
Exactly what I've been thinking. Sure, if I had an extra parking spot I'd buy a CX-5 and a Miata (or a 981 Boxster GTS). But I don't, and I'm not interested in the hassle of off-site car storage, so here I am watching all of Mark's Macan reviews and planning to go drive one when the snow melts.
Thats why i ordered one last week. I don‘t have the possibility for a 2nd parking slot and I have a son. So it is the ideal car for me, although initially I would prefer a 911 or cayman gts 4.0
Piano black only became popular when it was decided silver plastic was tacky. That had replaced leather-grained black plastic, which replaced fake wood. Manufacturers need to put something on those plastic surfaces, and they really can't afford to put brushed metal or real wood veneer everywhere. So far, piano black is seen by most buyers as classy, though it really is a dust magnet, even in places it doesn't attract fingerprints.
@@velvetjones1856 depends on generations. The new M5 CS for example is probably going to be up there with Tesla's plaid as the fastest 4 door car around the Nurburgring. The older M5 wasn't as track focused as BMW has started to become
I like that they can admit when a car isn't for them, but they get why it's a good car. I've owned a Cayman S, 911 4S, and a Macan S, while the Macan S isn't a sports car, it is hands down the best road trip car I've ever owned!
I agree with you, but I would never buy one, or recommend anyone I know buy one. Perhaps there are some filthy rich people that love tossing their money away, but just just a CX-5 and spend the rest of the money on an actual sports car. Crossovers don't need to be good. They get you from point A to point B with all your cargo.
@@JohnFromAccounting You are so wrong. Why would you suffer in a car that you spend two hours a day and 10000 miles a year in? CX-5 is completely overrated - it’s bland to drive and the engine is incredibly coarse. Where I live, it’s the choice of people who buy Outbacks but didn’t want an Outback. I used to own a Mk.7 GTI. I would take a Macan as a daily and as a weekend fun car over the GTI or any other FWD box 100% of the time. It just drives so much better.
@@JohnFromAccounting that’s clearly a very different mindset than most Macan buyers, which clearly is fine, because most of them would never consider a CX-5.
To answer your question about WHY someone would want a sporty SUV... it's for the person that wants something sporty, understands that the street isn't really a smart place for actual sports car performance (but wants to safely scratch the itch every once in awhile), but also needs a versatile and practical daily driver (that can also tow in this case). You don't need two cars to accomplish that, this is a jack of all trades car and I get everything I truly want (or need) in a single car. Another added benefit is cheaper insurance and only having to maintain a single car.
Great video. I have a 991.2 gt3 and have always had a hot hatch as my daily. I had a Macan GTS as a courtesy car and loved it so bought a 2020 Macan GTS last year and blown away by the luxury, build, handling, performance and durability. Brilliant all rounder
As an engineer who has worked on the Macan's development in Weissach I only can tell that this car is awesome and no SQ5 is even near the performance levels of it. Small story: The development of the hood (incl. the openings for the headlights) was a pain in the ass regarding tolerances & rubbing off the headlight sealing during long term closure test (and still was issue in production as I was told by a friend). The air intake section was redesigned (some of the combs needed to be "closed" and nearly caused big problems with intake temperatures in hot countries) due to failed Thatcham break in test. These guys are really creative when it comes to breaking inside a vehicle. They did it in the Macan by going through the grill with a pre-bent steel wire, going upwards through the center intake (the mesh you see @6:20) to the hood latch release mechanism.
Im just upset you dont have over a million subscribers. No other review channel compares at all. Im convinced the reason is because the general population cant comprehend these comprehensive reviews. Keep up the good work
"Why this car exist?" Well, for me and me only, the Macan GTS represents everything I would want in a car (or CUV). It sits higher than a Cayman/911, so I don't have to worry about potholes, speed bumps, steep driveways, etc. It is sporty enough (especially with air suspension lowered and PASM on its stiffest setting) that I can take on a backroad and have a lot of fun. It is also comfortable enough so I can do a 10 hour road trip and not be extremely fatigued (did a three hour road trip in my old GT4 and by the time I was done, I was ready to sell the car). It does everything I need it to do and I can have fun in it. It's a good looking Porsche vehicle that drives and handles very well. Steering is amazing and although it's not 100% like a 911, it's still very "Porsche" like. Not to mention it has "usable" backseats and a large enough trunk to carry groceries and suitcases.
I have a Cayman GTS and a Grand Cherokee and frankly this is a top notch blend of them both. I get my basic SUV needs met and still have a daily driver that I absolutely enjoy getting into every time I drive as I always have with the Cayman. Consolidating cars and still being 100% satsified with what I'm driving is something I think only the Macan fills for me. I'm trading in my two for the Macan GTS.
Part of me hates that this is what Porsche has become, but the other part of me loves the fact that it injects the money Porsche needs to make incredible sports cars.
@@ams914 Maybe you don't realize, but Porsche owners lost their minds in 2002-ish when the Cayenne was unveiled. SUV's have been a very recent thing for Porsche and the brand that has always been about pure sports cars went to soccer mom territory. To many of us 911 owners, this is not a Porsche, it's a rebadged Audi/VW - because it is.
@@MrSchn3ll Criticism is valid but this is simply the market trend. Gotta have at least one SUV in your lineup and Americans are buying this vehicle type like hotcakes.
I mean I don’t see the issue? If Porsche continues to offer amazing 911s, GT cars, caymans etc, then who cares if they make SUV’s? And even then they’re doing their best to make it the best suv they can and I’m here for it.
I just discovered this channel...might be the best auto channel ive yet seen. I have a 2021 GTS. The reason for me, is my house has 2 garage bays...1 for wife and 1 for me. I have a toddler, so i need something with rear seats. I make a good living and can afford a $1200 lease. I have gasoline in my veins and cant get enough of go fast. Porsche has always been a dream car for me...this is my 1st. The Macan GTS checks all the boxes...fast. sounds amazing. Handles corners amazing. Holds a car seat. Useful for a home depot run. Can hold all my camping gear. Major status flex. Gorgeous. Extremely fun to drive every single time. Thank god this car exists
I had a 2018 Macan GTS in Volcano Gray with the red leather interior. 18 way seats with the upgraded leather package and it's probably my favorite interior in any car, ever and I've had a bunch of them. Once you know where all the physical buttons are it is super easy to access anything without taking your eyes off of the road and it felt luxurious while also being really sporty and cool. Unfortunately I got the itch for a real sports car after about 18 months and traded it for a base 718 Cayman but I still have fond memories of the Macan GTS. It was very, very good.
Porsche engineers are obsessed with doing everything better. They make the best sports car, the best SUV the best cross over a very competitive luxury full sized sedan with the panamera and now one of the best EV’s in the Taycan. Why wouldn’t anybody buy a Porsche who can afford it? These guys are not regular engineers they are Scientists and Astronauts to be making cars at such a high level. It’s crazy!
Adding to what the guys said in the video... To non die-hard car enthusiasts: It is a lot of money, but it is a very well rounded car that you can daily and have fun whenever you want it to, and it comes from a very respectable and reliable brand. To car enthusiasts: We know we can have a normal, cheap SUV/crossover and a more engaging sportscar, but even if you dont like it, think about it this way: This is the type of car (along the Cayenne) that lets Porsche develop the 911 and Cayman which is ultimately what we want to buy. You can hate SUVs all you want, but if the brand admits that this is what allows them to make and develop faster GT3s and GT2RSs, keep your criticism. Awesome video as always, you just can't get enough of Mark and Jack!
Well filmed in the snow and great interaction by the hosts. The Macan is one of the best looking CUVs out there and it is so well made. They are build in Leipzig, Germany, where I had the chance to visit the factory, and they are each tested on a real track and an off road course on site once they come from the assembly line, where a lot of work is done by skilled workers and not everything is automated. There is more to this car than meets the eye at first glance.
As one of those people (2020 Cayenne S) let me give my take on the appeal of these vehicles, and you sort of hit on the point during your drive. Probably 80% of my driving is done well within the limits of good taste, often with a beloved spouse, dogs and/or gear with me. Of the 20% when I am playing the hooligan, at least half is in a straight line. My Cayenne is utterly, utterly exciting and competent in those scenarios. It does not require me to fold myself into it like I do with a Miata, or Lotus, or GT3. (Wait until you are in your 60s. You will get my point.) If I were to get a Griswold family truckster for daily driving and an exquisite little sports toy for glory runs on nice weekends that would mean I was missing out on enjoying driving 80% of the time to have a relatively small increase in sportiness 20% of the time. Will I ever confuse my Cayenne for the sports cars I used to race? No. Will I be dang happy getting 80% of the feeling every single day I drive? Absolutely. Keep up the great work!
You have summarized the tradeoffs incredibly well. I'd add to that, for those of us with limited parking in major urban centres, or where insurance is a substantial expense, it's harder to resist the pull of the SUV with enough performance chops to satisfy.
This is by far one of the best reviews i have seen, you understand what people want and are looking for is not quite what your into. This does not make them wrong. You also have a very mature and open minded approach, really well done. ( i do drive a 2014 macan s and am in love with it. Came from a gla45 amg, the step up is incredible in both quality of build and driving experience for me) Thanks.
Nice review, I've had two Macans, both are base models and they are fabulous cars worth every $, however, I have simultaneously owned sports car during those times. I am now in the process of purchasing the Macan GTS and selling the sports car (2017 Lotus Evora for any interested parties). I have now driven the GTS and in my view it is more 911 than SUV. The Porsche Macan GTS is, without question, the closet I have ever seen any manufacturer come to a practical daily driver for the driving enthusiast.
I have a current 21 Macan GTS, with it replacing a 2017 Macan S. This car is by far the best driving SUV in the market. Granted it isn't as fast as a F97 X3M but it also don't ride like that stupidly harsh X3M with a boring ZF8 & noticeable turbo lag, I'm also a current F80 M3 ZCP owner. Porsche does a lot of things correctly aside from the hefty price tag that always comes with them. If you are able to afford these cars, they are absolutely worth it. BMW has completely fallen off the horse when it comes to their performance cars. And I also agree with Jack. It's way better to have physical buttons over the dumb black plastic screens. Once you have the car for a few weeks, you know exactly where each buttons are. Sadly that won't last any longer, the newer Macan EV (coming soon) will have its interior changed to that, black plastic, touch buttons that I hate.
Spot on. I owned a GTS and completely agree. I think Porsche should give the Macan was last final new generation. There will be sufficient ICE demand for the next 7 years.
Jack: "Why does this car even exist?" I'm currently looking for an AWD SUV that isn't a total slug with a rubber band transmission, and the CX-30 is looking pretty good. But if I had three times as much money as that vehicle cost, THIS is what I'd be buying.
The point is you could get a CX-30 AND a prupose built sports car for that kind of money, like a miata, BRZ, mustang. The second option makes more sense as an enthusiast but I suppose it might be more costly in the long term because you end up with 2 cars (twice the insurance, taxes, regular maintenance etc)
@@juanordonezgalban2278 Yes for me I went with a X3 M40i which I timed 0-60 as a crazy 4.1s on all season tires for 65k. The last thing I wanted was 2 cars and especially the time it takes to take them to a dealer for maintenance. Instead I have one car that imo looks way better than all the cars you listed as well as performs better than most of them as well
I loved my Macan S. Amazing ride and handling, it’s was like my 911 in so many ways without the discomfort. I started getting a water leak into the passenger foot well when it rained. Porsche could not address the cause after many months and visits to the dealer. It’s a known issue on the forums but without resolution Porsche lost me to a Tesla. If I ever go back to a Porsche, the Macan is the most practical daily driver that is fun to drive.
To really appreciate the Macan GTS. Take the car skiing or hiking in the mountains. It is extremely fun to drive up windy mountain roads and can go off road or through snow with ease.
This car is one of my secret favourite from the whole market, because of: 00:38. 100% agree, LOVE the physical buttons and the total lack of piano black (finally), and the analog clusters.
Great Video, I've driven some of these as a curtesy vehicle and it is a pleasure to drive... the best thing about it... the PDK. However why no-one is mentioning the Steven Seagal track loaded on the infotainment during the opening interior sequence? I could not stop laughing. Nicely done Guys!!!
I owned for a year and the best thing to me was the suspension. GTS gets air suspension standard, which makes it the most comfortable Macan. I found the ride More comfortable than my wife's Lexus RX. PDK is amazing too though
Old video but I'm looking at these now, either the GTS or Turbo. It hits all the boxes for me while downsizing to one car. After throwing piles of money into my E90 M3, I still have anxiety driving it, and I think I've reached my limit. It's sporty, precise, well built, comfortable, and can handle 4 seasons. It has everything except loads of interior and cargo space, but that's why the Cayenne exists.
I've just purchased a 2021 Macan GTS. Best ride ever. I've owned 330i w/PP; 335i Dinan Stg 2; M5; Audi S3/4/A6 4.2; Lexus IS350; Cayman S. Nothing comes close to the Air Suspension/PASM combo. You won't regret it! Good luck.
Got the 2017 macan GTS Had for 3 years.. What can I say It’s the longest we have had a car ever.. Love it.. The colour is just cool Original gt rs riviera blue.. The reason we haven’t up graded to this model is because it just doesn’t sound as good as the previous model.
I compelled my mother to get a base trim Macan over an X40M/loaded X3, in part due to your Macan S video. Both of us love it even with minimal options. It’s just the right size for her and won’t put me to sleep if I need to drive it. Yeah it’s less fun because it’s compromised, but still competent in the things it tries to do
@@jcsdesign you’re right, I did have a hangup on the engine , but it’s not like my mother will ever use more than 20% of the power anyways. And we got the dealer to give us a 10yr b2b warranty, so I’m satisfied.
Thanks for continuing to speak to who cars are for, even if they are not for us. A lot of car "enthusiasts" get off on thrashing anything that doesn't fit our orthodoxy
To answer jacks question. The guy with a kid, a wife, who comfortably wants to kick it around Ontario, Canada and turn in to an absolute monster on the back roads. This x-ver destroys my previously owned terminator any day. Sure I cant shift gears but to hear my wife yelling and my son screaming in laughter, PRICELESS.
I had 2 cars also, rs3 and Tucson for my wife. I wanted one vehicule, so thats why we went toward these SUV, we got an X3M and ive been to the track with it beating M2... honestly when people bash on this I feel they are just hating on progress. Yes my RS3 was more sporty but now I have an all-around vehicule that does better lap times than my RS3...
@@madgainz7871 We're not hating "progress", we're hating compromised design. I get that Porsche needs to make money, but I hate that compromised design is how they do it. Also, why are you tracking an SUV?
@@JohnFromAccounting They're making those compromises because there are people who need or want one vehicle that can do a variety of things well. We (two people) have one parking space at our condo. Now I live in a city in a mild climate, so don't need SUV features, but I understand why many people do. If I lived where Mark and Jack do, outside Chicago, I'd also be tempted to but an AWD something.
So I got one last week, I had a 718 for two years and since that wasn’t really a daily I also got a Volvo S60. The GTS should replace the 718 and the S60. At least that’s my idea, so far I love it. I can go and drive it fast and also take my dog in the back seat with me.
I have a Macan GTS. I bought it new. At the time, it was our only car in Chicago (split btwn me and significant other). We arguably did not need 1 car and definitely didn't need 2. This was the closest thing I could find to a do-it-all car. The 911 is not a do-it-all car. In the event of a zombie apocalypse, 911 doesn't do much for you. Macan GTS can be of more use, unless of course the zombies have a thirst for Yuppie brains. That said, now we are more in need of 2 cars (on occasion), so I bought a 2019 Carrera T. Have kept the Macan bc what else do you replace it with? Maybe a pickup truck, but the Macan is fun to drive and when you live in a winter climate, you end up driving your Macan a lot more than your 911. There aren't many 4wd SUV/CUVs that have better driving mechanics (I haven't driven one to date, I would guess maybe a Urus for an additional 100k). TLDR: It's a yuppie city car to quickly get you away to your lakehouse, all doing it with style and fun. It is expensive, but sadly it seems reasonable when compared to other luxury SUV/CUVs. Macan S gets you 90% of the way there, though...if that fits your budget better.
I bought the GTS because I needed a "pick-up" that could pull a boat and have fun at the same time... this is the greatest "pick-up" to drive, trust me ! ! ! Never had a truck or SUV before.
Sporty SUV's make total sense to me, and you touched on it earlier. I am never going to get everything I want out of a 718 etc., I don't really have much desire to go out onto a track or find a place to keep my "summer car". All I want to do is get me and my family around and have some smiles along the way when I take a corner or smash the pedal.
I just don’t get that feeling in a suv no matter what they do to make tall fat cars feel “sporty”, probably unpopular opinion considering the dominance of these suvs in the market
@@EvoraGT430 Don't get me wrong, I love the Pana, but if you want one car to do it all - it doesn't have great space or practicality as a family vehicle.
The Porsche Macan GTS is best bought when it comes off the lease ownership from the dealer. I find that the price vs. performance is at a sweet spot when bought used. Thanks for making this video. I agree with you both that it is the best driving every day vehicle for the money, but best bought when it comes off the lease.
Exactly why we got one for my wife. She has a 2018 Turbo. She would love a 911. But, just take a look at all the roads this winter, or any winter. You cannot drive a sports car in NYC or surrounding areas in the winter without constantly being on the lookout for potholes. With the Macan Turbo, it’s nearly as fast as most sports cars, but we don’t have to worry about the snow, the rain, or potholes. We see the snow and icy patches from further away. We have more time to assess how big the potholes are. Should we swerve or just hit it head on. Most of the times, swerving isn’t necessary. That makes it so much safer. Almost every day, I hit a pothole or swerve around one that would’ve swallowed a sports car wheel. And then there’s the practicality of it. It simply does everything. We take it on family road trips. Can’t do that in a 911. We take it food shopping. Can’t do that in a 911. We take it joy riding in the winter, through snow patches and potholes. Can’t and won’t do that in a 911. And when we’re all done having fun, it’s just a supremely comfortable car. I still think a 911 is in our future. But, we talk ourselves out of it every winter until they fix the potholes, which is about...May. Or never.
I love how Mark gets all excited about the Macan, I wasn't expecting it. That said I've also driven one and there's a little bit of it that reminds me of my NB Miata, it's almost telepathic in the way it handles just in a CUV package.
Yah I like what he mentioned about different perspectives. I drove my friends Macan S (comming from my only car which is a Kia Forte) and I had laughed my ass off and scared myself by driving it. And I loved it, it’s just all around the perfect car in my eyes and I hate SUV’s but this is something special to me and I don’t know why.
I wouldn’t buy this for myself. But my wife and I 100% agreed this was the best driving option after looking at the GLC43 and SQ5. She loves her GTS and when family road trips hit the twistys it is still a riot. And it is totally sure footed in the snow. If your spouse doesn’t like cars then sure - get a CX-5 - but for a small family (one kid like us is really the max) any Macan is a very fun choice.
I traded my 718 for a Macan GTS last week and man this thing is fun, it’s fast and way more comfortable. Don’t worry, I enjoyed the 718 for two years so it was time to trade.
Interesting. I was intrigued by the Macan's exterior design but having seen its nightmare driving environment in this vid, my ardor has cooled to absolute zero.
That's it. Got to trade in the Audi and get one of these. My 3rd wife has no interest in cars what so ever...so my plan is to get the Macan GT , slap on some Subaru badges and convince her I wanted a more sensible and less expensive car than the Audi. If she finds out and get pissed off...hopefully the 4th wife will be more understanding.
Great way to start a monday morning, a new SG video with my coffee! I actually like this thing and the engineering that went into it to perform how it does for an SUV, but Mark spitting facts as usual during the drive, about why not just having two separate cars to fill each role rather than this expensive combination. Though i would guess maybe some people don’t have the room for two separate vehicles?
Walking into the lions den on this one...Long time Porsche lover, and still waiting to get into my dream Porsche, but have a x3 m40i. My opinion - best of both worlds and am happy to drive this 365 days a year. The worse the weather the happier I am. As a Canadian I laugh at the subarus struggling in the snow while I decide whether to turn TC completely off or not. Will never replace a true sports car though and would never consider driving a Subaru or CRV for my “daily”
This car is for the person with a million dollar condo that has 1 parking spot or the person who always wanted a porsche, can finally afford it, but may need to pick up the kids from school or from their ex's when its their turn for custody. Its actually a surprisingly big market.
Pretty much nailed it with the read on the demographic. We were looking for a third car since we've got our first kid on the way (already own a 981 GT4 and an E53 Wagon). We test drove everything in it's class (and the classes above and below it - hot hatches and the cayenne sized vehicles). Nothing came close to the driving experience in the Macan GTS. Living in Toronto it would let me replicate 85% of the feeling of my GT4 throughout the winter - and that makes it worth the money to me. Honestly the GTS isn't fast compared to the other cars that I've driven but it's a convincing facsimile for a daily. I'm ordering a 2022 Macan GTS - and it is expensive AF - time will tell if the car is reliable and has "ok" ongoing ownership costs or if this will depreciate like crazy due to a quality issue.
Indeed, it's been a recurring mispronunciation on this channel. I even complimented Mark when he said it right last time, but I'm disappointed in Jack (or should I say Jake just to be an asshole?) this time ; )
Im surprised Mark doesn't get it - I've got a 997 but frequently need to carry a lot of things. The Macan GTS looks like a perfect way to have the best of both worlds. I'm not selling the 997 but I am looking hard into one of these...
It's for the people who may want a sports car but need the practicality of a cuv and who live in the city and have one parking space so we have to compromise. Looking for one of these now, probably a well-equipped S.
Back in the days of going to the office to work, my Miata was parked next to a white one of these almost every day. It is such a good looking SUV or whatever it is, I'd never get tired of looking at it. The guy who drove it always looked very pleased with his life as well. Well, I guess if you've got Macan GTS money and you're still a miserable person you're just doing it all wrong.
Love all the physical switches, too. Feels like you sit in an aircraft cabin. And you get instant access to everything. Too bad this style will be entirely gone soon, I guess too many Americans are getting too stupid to operate that many switches. Plus, it cuts costs to switch to smudgy and scratchy-looking capacitive buttons on black piano trim.
I was going to say the same thing about the buttons and switches, it makes it feel like an aircraft cabin and imo it also looks cool. I strongly prefer it to the newer touchscreen controls they're implementing these days. I guess I'm a smart American though 🤦♂️
Capacitance buttons were more common 5+ years ago, with most manufacturers abandoning them since. There's nothing wrong with putting little-used controls in menus on the screen, but putting basic HVAC controls and things like seat heaters there is stupid. You can blame Tesla for some of that. I think they were anticipating true autonomous vehicles years before they became practical. If you aren't driving, messing with the screen is fine.
I think this car is really for the enthusiast that needs a one car solution and can afford to spend in something more upscale. Maybe you live in an apartment or condo in a bigger city and have a small family but still want something that will scratch the enthusiast itch. I live in Boston where its either incredibly expensive or just plain difficult to find a home with room for more than one car. Something like this is a good blend of everything you’d want/need a car to do.
I consider the purpose of its existence to be more of a fun way to get to work. Yes. You can get a base Macan and a used M2, but one commutes and the other one drives. On the other hand, the Macan GTS looks amazing, sounds great, drives like a beast, but is still civilized enough to-not just get around in relative comfort-but also to keep (or try to keep) a low profile at work, at school, in town, etc., and is not as big and regal as a Cayenne. I feel it is one of the greatest cars Porsche has ever added to their lineup.
If you're not careful you can miss the stunning production value of this video. It looks so flawless and perfect one might just take it for granted, yeah, sure, it's a SG video. I suppose most normie people on some subliminal level realize something good is going on here (though that can't pick out what it is), but I see the work and skill and I appreciate the hell out of it.
"Why do you need an SUV to also be a sports car?" ( 11:20 ). For the same reason why people need a truck to be a daily driver when they only have one person driving it, and they could rent a truck occasionally for when they need it. For the same reason why people would buy a gas car instead of buying an electric car for their daily needs, and renting another vehicle for a road trip. For the same reason why people would just shoot everything on a smartphone, instead of getting a "Proper" camera like a DSLR or camcorder for their video needs. People these days find it more convent to have something that does everything ok then to have different things that are amazing at specific applications.
Buying a Macan S in December of 2014 as my first Porsche product was a huge financial mistake. My experience with it caused me to buy multiple Porsche sports cars of which I currently own 5. Still have the Macan.

NO dumb piano black is already a reason to consider this over it's competition 😂
Not when the alternative is even worse. You can probably count on one hand the number of customers who want cheap plastic in their 90k SUV.
@@speakingtruths4215 there's this guy in Romania who lined the boot of his GLE Coupe in piano black, I'll try to find the video.
@@dragospahontu do it!
Piano black is annoying; however, it's something that can easily be fixed with some vinyl wrap.
I like the buttons galore. Can't stand those touchscreen with 8 submenues to just change the fan speed.
Yep. Especially when you are trying to keep your eyes on the road.
Those buttons are nice and clicky, too. Very satisfying to use.

This IS a drivers car. Theres more to driving then a two seat sports car on a perfect road on a perfect day. This is fun to drive more of the time.
exactly. These SUV are fun, quick and can be driven in any condition.
My Macan Turbo turned into a corner harder than my 2014 M5. Very amazing car. It was hot the performance package which is now standard for turbo.
You may have a point, it feels like it has been forever since I could drive my 68 Falcon.

I think the Macan is the best in class crossover
For the engine, transmission, handling, capability, usability, reliability, and in my opinion looks
Not the usability. Rear seats are useless if you are more than 5'9" which is a shame. Q5 uses the space much better but doesn't drive nearly as well.
@@Ficon I’m 6 ft and I’ve never had any problem in the back of a macan, I wouldn’t say it’s that comfortable but it’s certainly tolerable.
What is Thatcham?
That's cool you worked on it but then it kinda died...
My goodness, the intro shots are just magnificent!

Top Gear devolved into a car shoe for the general population. God forbid the Geese sell their souls in like manner.
"Why this car exist?"
Well, for me and me only, the Macan GTS represents everything I would want in a car (or CUV).
Why would you hate that Porsche has made one of the best performance SUVs in the world? Sounds like they set a nice benchmark.

If you live in a city this the perfect all around urban assault vehicle. It just does everything very well. However it is expensive.
This is by far one of the best reviews i have seen, you understand what people want and are looking for is not quite what your into. This does not make them wrong. You also have a very mature and open minded approach, really well done. ( i do drive a 2014 macan s and am in love with it.
What packages are a must have for you? I’m looking at a 2021 with PDLS, Bose and the sports package.
I have a current 21 Macan GTS, with it replacing a 2017 Macan S.
This car is by far the best driving SUV in the market. Granted it isn't
as fast as a F97 X3M but it also don't ride like that stupidly harsh X3M

ZCP owner. Porsche does a lot of things correctly aside from the hefty
price tag that always comes with them.
If you are able to afford these cars, they are absolutely worth it. BMW
has completely fallen off the horse when it comes to their performance

And I also agree with Jack. It's way better to have physical buttons
over the dumb black plastic screens. Once you have the car for a few
weeks, you know exactly where each buttons are. Sadly that won't last
any longer, the newer Macan EV (coming soon) will have its interior
changed to that, black plastic, touch buttons that I hate.
Spot on. I owned a GTS and completely agree. I think Porsche should give the Macan was last final new generation. There will be sufficient ICE demand for the next 7 years.
3 years later the macan EV is here, I think this month they are delivering them to customers
Jack: "Why does this car even exist?"
I'm currently looking for an AWD SUV that isn't a total slug with a rubber band transmission, and the CX-30 is looking pretty good.

The Macan GTS handles Chicago's winter very well.

Yes, I love Porsche. I love the Macan. And you perfectly right about Porsche. It's a brand above the others.

Own a 2017 Macan GTS off lease. Totally agree. Also a FANTASTIC road trip vehicle.
Or never.
I have a 2020 GTS ... absolutely love it
I love how Mark gets all excited about the Macan, I wasn't expecting it.
I wouldn’t buy this for myself. But my wife and I 100% agreed this was the best driving option after looking at the GLC43 and SQ5. She loves her GTS and when family road trips hit the twistys it is still a riot. And it is totally sure footed in the snow.
Jack is always pushing Mark's buttons! 😂😂😂🤣
What is the" Macanus"?? Sounds like an ass kicking car lol
Not "Macanus", it's "Macan S"
@@Mikey-cc2ny Just making fun of the pronounciation of Maaakhan or Maycan S
Mac Anus? Sounds like a McDonald’s brand anus sandwich 🥪
@@lindman399 I think "Mah-kahn" is more true to the origin of the name "Macan" than "Mah-can" would be.
This car is for the person with a million dollar condo that has 1 parking spot or the person who always wanted a porsche, can finally afford it, but may need to pick up the kids from school or from their ex's when its their turn for custody. Its actually a surprisingly big market.
Well said, bravo!
Just to clarify; the top audio system is Burmester, not Burmeister. www.burmester.de/en/automotive/porsche/
Poverty sound system, wow literally dropped my iPad and cracked the screen when I heard that.
First world problems yo.
Samsung stronger
Remember the Delco systems that GM had in there high end vehicles? 🤣🤣🤣
I love the *"POVERTY AUDIO"* option!
I wonder if the base sound system is really that bad. But yeah, I agree the base sound system shouldn't be the standard audio system for a GTS trim.
I'm glad I'm not the only one that likes 747 levels of switches.
blame Porsche and Audi double touch screen nonsense not the Americans. One of them "rest of the country is deplorable" folks eh
My third wife is gonna love this thing lmfao!
Same bro
I smashed Like so hard on my Steven Seagal playlist
Ah yes love gettin Goosed at 5 in the morning...
All jokes aside, well done on these videos guys, the quality is absolutely fantastic
I'm glad you guys make a great couple and enjoy Macan driving
Spot on about the physical switches... searching through menu's suck.
Jack's preaching to the choir at 1:05. Wish everyone felt this way and the car buying public would get away from those stupid screens.
"this is definitely on the smaller side"
imo this thing is actually much larger than any porsche should be
I'm impressed, it's not for me. But, I'm impressed with what Porsche is doing.
When will you get the new Lexus IS500? Mid year?
