I am definitely not a fan of windshields on side-by-side‘s but I think your video will save a lot of people for making the same mistakes. Cheers bro! 🍻
I don't know full windshield on SXS I like them, don't have to worried getting wet and mud and getting cold, I even have a windshield wiper installed on my 2017 YXZ .i don't know maybe cuz I'm old why I like them lol . When you get old life change stuff you didn't like when you was Younger you start to like when you get old , like manual transmission you don't like as much in a car or a truck or taking long car drives or even driving anymore .lol
Thanks for taking one for the team. Acrylic is good for flat parts that have no movement or vibration and that's about it. I look forward hearing about your polar ride.
Thank you! I just posted the new successful windshield video yesterday: th-cam.com/video/EzsFYnjleI8/w-d-xo.html The ride I went on was the Twisted UTVs winter ride video https: //th-cam.com/video/RKOSrkDcgA8/w-d-xo.html
Half windshield is what i made for my custom cage that i built. I bought a sheet of polycarbonate from menards i believe its about .250 thick . It helps alot. I also ride with helmet and goggles.. Great videos . Thanks
Thank you! I considered doing the full or half windshield out of polycarbonate but the only polycarbonate in stock at my Menards or Home Depot was .093” thick and that felt like it would wiggle too much.
I started with 9mm polycarbonate for my CFMoto Z950 (Z1000 in AUS). I was unaware that I should have ordered polycarbonate with hard face..... Ordinary polycarbonate is not really suitable for a windshield. Just rubbing a finger on the surface left marks. Marks and light scratches can be removed with a heat gun, but what a pain to have to keep doing this. I ended up with a SuperATV windshield which cost around AUD$1000..... So, use hardface polycarbonate if you intend making a custom windshield.
I enjoyed the vid and Im in a similar predicament. I bought the Super (for super expensive lol) ATV flip up windshield and my 2019 got rolled. Windshield was fine, but the stock Cage not so much. I bought Houser Cage so I have to rework mine to fit the new cage! Good luck!!
I have a video coming out next week showing what I did to successfully get a windshield before the ride. I ended up buying a Superatv windshield and modifying it to fit my aftermarket cage. it worked amazingly well. Maybe something similar will work for you.
My video on my superATV windshield is live now. You can see how I modified that windshield to fit on my aftermarket cage. SUPERATV FULL WINDSHIELD INSTALL ON KRASH OFF-ROAD AFTERMARKET CAGE | YAMAHA YXZ 1000R | SXS / UTV th-cam.com/video/EzsFYnjleI8/w-d-xo.html
Way to suck it up and share what happened. Glad to have you riding with us man. Keep up the good work dude! Seen you were moving up by tc there ate some awsome trails between there and kalkaska, some of my favorite areas to ride.
Thanks! Yeah we are moving up there at the end of this month. I love all the trails in that area as well. I’m excited to be up near all the good riding. The Grand Haven /Spring lake area doesn’t have much good riding other than the dunes.
That was painful to watch all your effort. Im on my 3rd season with my Krx poly half winshield and its effective for what it is and has held up awesome..Just bought one for my new YXZ and hope it does as well. $175 shipped to my door from UTV Direct
I have a similar version of the Krash Cage and when I was ordering it he asked if I wanted a windshield. I'm sure he could build a sweet removable one for you. But at what cost? $$$ A wise man once told me that If you buy the best you will never be disappointed.
Yeah. Krash does offer an awesome windshield that goes with the cage. I really don’t like riding with a windshield but I just wanted something to get me through a couple real cold rides.
I know this is video is old. I was telling my self watch his last cut it going to crack . I work with acrylic before it a pain heating up and bend it . And yes it happen to me too almost done and it cracks and acrylic isn't cheap either

Excellent video. What I needed were those rubber clamps and didn't know they existed!
Perfect! Glad it helped

Yeah it was super disappointing lol. It was looking so good. $175 is great for a windshield.
Had the same happen to me when trimming a new shower dome, it suks
Definitely heartbreaking after all the work. Not to mention the cost of the material.

Yeah. It was a big learning experience for me. Kinda fun at first but real frustrating at the end.
Vibration vs clamped = pain and suffering
SONOFA!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Exactly! I was really bummed
