WOW riders... what are we thinking game changing ?
This is holy shit , good by old brands hello new brands. Give it to me XD i sell all my bikes straight
Good to have competition and this has obviously been put together by people that understand MTBs, not some hack. However, I don't think there's enough room for improvement in the 250W mid-motor only category for anything to be game changing. The Pinion MGU and possibly other motors with integrated transmissions are where it's at.
My Marin hawkhill with bafang m635 is still a lot more playful for a small investment!
To me it's like carrera from Halfords will be having mid drive soon with 200nm 😂
Go on folks cough out another 10k
They are really coming on strong, that's for sure.
The geometry and specs are there.
Big battery, great looks too.
I'm impressed.
Dji ftw
Things I'd like to know,
-Warranty
-Serviceability
-Costs of replacement after warrant
-Distance / Elevation of full battery eco/non eco
-True weight e.g not a small frame.
-When and where is it expected to land for purchase
-Does it send?
-Your expert opinion
Deff you dont own a dji drone. They are such a big company that they can send you a new one for sure, shimano cant even sell you a ep801 because they are out of stock.
Just buy DJI care(just kidding
Light weight eMTB that’s got more power than full power eMTBs! This is a game changer, well done DJI
I can’t wait for you to take the beast on the trails!!!
You know it! I can’t wait either
DJI knows how to make light batteries, really look forward for the integration in other bike brands🤩
Looks fantastic, let’s hope it’s fully serviceable and holds up well in wet weather. DJI cameras are excellent, I can only guess this motor is too. Exciting times ahead for DJI
Yep it’s very interesting times
The question is how much? This is not for everybody. It's not universal like cyc motor
It’ll be fully replaceable. Repairable? Not so much…
Wow 🔥🔥🔥🔥 sounds like a game changer!! And the brand knows how to make good stuff. Looking forward to testing it 😁
This bike will definitely shake things up in the industry. Light weight, amazing torque, quiet motor, good battery/charger, nice display/remote and decent geo. Get the price down and offer a 3 year warranty on the motor/battery and all electronics, make service guides and parts available and we may have a real winner here 😎
Cool looking bike . The whole package seems spot on.
Looking forward to the deep dive on this one.
For me the fact that it’s quiet and decouples without drag is a real thumbs up 👍
Sounds so good! And it has to be good, their Drones are the best…let see this E-BIKE MOTOR!!👏👏👏
Yep it’s super interesting
Pretty sick. Cant wait for your range test
Looks sweet! Can’t wait for the full test review 🤘🏻
This is revolutionary and will certainly help with my weekly Waitrose shop.
Yes!! Love it! And my drone is five years old and it still works perfectly!
Holy crap that looks amazing on first impressions. I’m very keen on the Pinion MGU but this has come out of left field and seems really promising. The proportions of that frame make the motor look quite discrete for the rated power figures. Seemed very quiet.
Can’t wait too see how it goes on steep climbs, consistency of power and how much if any thermo throttling you experience.
Characteristics on technical and chunky terrain. Things like the overrun, how smooth/aggressive power coming.
very nice sounds like its going to be a game changer , shame we won,t see these in New Zealand any time soon
It’s super interesting I really can’t wait to try it more
Looks good interested to see what it’s like on the trails would definitely be interesting in one of these bikes
Wow, full power lightweight. looks like my next bike
Great! DJI getting into Emtb world liking everything about it,just one thing tough, is it Deresrtiktibel 😀
Love it. Non removable battery is a deal breaker for me, though.
So quite as well ❤ very impressive 💯
It’s gonna be the best e-bike in the market for sure!
Can't wait for this to be available in the UK
Looks like it will be a good one, hope they find more bike brands to work although the bike is beautiful. I would like to see the test in the trail climbing.
I think you're mistaking turbo and boost, eco trail and turbo are always available (turbo is 105nm / 850w) and u can put it in BOOST for 30 sec when holding the arrow up for longer on the remote
looks awesome.. and i would really trust a motor technolgy coming from DJI. Next purchase i will look into this for sure
Well you answered my questions of how much of that power is available in all assist modes and would it overheat .
never the less , five thousand $/€ is a bargain for carbon and such a powerful motor .
i've been a good boy and haven't ranted about the Sachs/BMZ for awhile but this video prompts me to chime in 😂
two of the amazing aspects about the BMZ is that ALL of the power
(112 Nm) is available in all assist modes and at RPMs as low as 40 to 60.
the other is it does NOT overheat . i've ridding the bike for five years now on some very long and steep hills in tour mode and it has never overheated .
Sorry Sam , i just had to mention those things .
Good video . lots of useful info . 👍
Hey, Sam- Thank you!
Not a problem rider
@@SamsBikes I had now received my Specialised Kenevo SL 2 back after six weeks - and the defect in the engine was still not fixed. It is very likely that it is now going to the manufacturer.
This is evolutionary. Time will tell how it holds up, and how the warranty/repair support is. It’s a good looking bike too. The only thing I really don’t like is the kinked seat stay. Could limit dropper choice. But otherwise I’m pretty blown away
DJI always makes quality stuff.
This is a game changer and lite emtb category should be worried
Drones and e-bikes? DJI looks like they're up to something big!
Are they planning to dominate the airwaves and the roads? I can already see the aerial footage shot from the saddle of an electric bike! ♀
I wonder what else they'll come up with. they'll serve as GPS navigation, displaying the route on VR goggles?
One thing's for sure: DJI never ceases to amaze us! I can't wait to see what they come up with next.
Very interesting. I’ve owned 5 DJI drones, currently have 3 with the DJI Avata 2 purchased a few weeks ago. I also own a 2019 Trek Powerfly FS 5, and a 2023 Giant Trance E+3. I may have to sell them all to afford a deposit for this bike - haha. Seriously though, I’m happy with what I have but this bike looks great. Except for the large controller on the right bar. I like my Giant minimalist controller.
Very nice review! Hopefully, DJI can put a rest to some of the 'safety' issues regarding e-bike batteries (ie. catching fire). All the bad press on e-bike batteries really causes some issues with rules/laws/regulations in specific areas or settings. They use what's called intelligent flight batteries on their drones.....I'm sure they're doing something similar in their e-bikes. Looks like a smart move for DJI entering this market. Thanks again for the review!
As an owner of both emtb's multiple, and DJI drones, I hope that their after sale support is better this time around ie 3 years in and you cant buy any mavic pro batteries, but in saying that I'd def be keen to grab another ebike for sure, this tech looks fantastic, and great to see that they havent gone with headtube routing thank god..
And DJI need this to get back into the US market once the US govt ban the drones...
This is awsome, I have DJI drones, stabilisers, action cameras, all their stuff works great. Waiting for your test, release date in Europe and price.👍
So, will the motor be available as standalone kit to buy, or just on the bike ?
Great video!!
I can see the future...next generation Specialized Levo SL with DJI motor and battery.
Maybe model 2026/27
Cheers
Will you be doing any maximum range tests?
I've been waiting to see this DJI aswell and the mew 1.22 update for Bosch smart system they finally added the option to chance the purion 200 screens via the app same as the kiox and added AI to the Travel range lots new stuff and the new bosch compatible Eshifters from shimano and TRP
Super interested in this bike and this motor system from DJI. Especially if the price point comes in as you suggest.
#TakeMyMoney
chain and cassette chewer, needs to be an mgu competitor with belt drive
Can they come up with breakable battery for 160wh size so you use it to travel in plane. 160 is the size limit and but doesn't have limit on quantity.
The bike is a bit of a looker. If it is priced right it will surely be a winner.
How about barings quality and frame assembly?
Sam, hope you have fun at
euro bike .👍😎
What will be the cost?
You should try it on an uphill rugged terrain with 10 % grade steep climb
Will they have any distributors in the Asia Pacific mate? Looks like they could be onto something nice!
I’m sure they will
Pro tip while using quadlock with your phone make sure you also get the vibration mount too or your camera lens will have a very short life.
Nice
Awesome, i do think it has 4 settings, Eco, Trail, Turbo & Boost. Boost being the one that only lasts for 30 seconds,
How’s the ride compared to the ecc6
when and where can I get one and for how much ?
Sweetness! Travel? And can I make it bigger (overstroke it 😊) Also, 5k plus💸, hells yeah!🔥
160/150
Ouch! - That thumb shifter is going to connect with your knee at some point.
I look forward to reading the motor warranty text regarding riding in the rain and wading/submersion.
Hi Sam, thanks! Awesome system indeed. I tried to search the IP rating but I was not able to find. I really hope that they have better IP rating than the other systems. It's always water and dirt which is going inside to motor. I really hope that this system has sufficient protection. The Achilles heel of electric bikes is IP rating to made too low.
Glad it was helpful! I’m sure they would of thought of this
It's really a beautiful bike and great integration, interested into the internals of the motor. EU laws won't allow it to sell with those specs, it will have to be factory detuned, unless the mentioned 1000 W of peak power is really just the power spikes(peaks), like in the 90s sound boxes had a rating of 500W in reality it was just about 100W or less.
I can easily get my Syncdrive to peak of power in the realm of 900W+ so this not really a surprise.
Also when you up the Tourqe the Power falls, so there are ups and downs with this. There is also the massively increased consumption if the motor is not a 48V system, the last point availability of service centers etc...IMO the most important thing when ebike buying. The 12A charger IMO as an electrical engineer is actually a safety concern, way to much heat into the small amount of cells.
This is great but i really wish they had done something like a belt drive and either the motor compensate for a lack of gear of a single speed or maybe something like only 2 gears directly integrated in the motor. Because the problem of the emtb is the costs on the long run that come with wear and tear that arise from having a chain and a cassette which wears out components
❤🔥
Does it have any overrun like Bosch and now Shimano
Yes. And you can customize it in the app
Excellent 👍 can't wait for your full review always best on the trails...
Wow 120 nm twice as much power than my bike but let’s see how it performs where it’s supposed to be , looks great though !
You know it will be good if DJI make it. Just wish I could afford one... :(
1000w / 120nm is in boost for 30sec,
850w / 105nm is turbo and it can be sustained
That frame does look similar to Specialized..good effort for generic frame ..reckon they will soon be on other brands Mondraker Trek etc...
is this released
Does it rattle?!
I don’t think so but need to track it down some crazy trails
with motor reliability across all motors is hit and miss, would like to know if there will be right to repair after warranty ends or only option new motor, if new motor what will the cost be for a new one
Finally a 1000 watts
DJI have paid attention to the vast profit margin the bike companies are enjoying currently!
They just want a piece of the action....
1000 W and 120 Nm, Simply Wow...
Has anyone here ever had a real problem with their e-bike? I own a 2019 turbo levo that weighs 2kg more, mounts the same specifications, helps me pedal uphill always ok about battery for my mountain trails. On the serius dh track 18.5kg is too much to be able to take some real competitive advantage with this specs. Why should I prefer this one?
AN e-bike!
What is real weight? Did you check it? :)
Did you weight it? Or.just copied what they told you? This is a bold claim for a full emtb
Now waiting for Sony motor and battery :D
Please Not Sony..
Dji, will soon dominate the ebike market as they do in drones.
The folks over on the other side of the pond will say that this is another device from China that’s going to spy on military installations and other high security personnel when they’re out mountain biking😜
Looks like the new gen 4 levo before the levo 😮
Price and availability are huge questions.
Wish they had gone straight to building an MGU, that's what we all want! Saying this, it's an incremental improvement, not a game changer.
My Luna Cycle Apollo has 160Nm and 2500 watts…..53 lbs 160mm Fork and 130mm Rear Travel
if their claims are true, all other systems are now obsolete.
make sure to tell them not to do heavy antitampering on it so we can easily derestrict and actually enjoy all that power
The obvious questions will be around build, reliability and the service network. The frame will be built by an OEM in Taiwain or China, so there's no fear there. Reliability on a new motor will be hard to gauge, but time will tell and this leads in to the service network that (at the moment) is non-existant and will take time to grow. Groupset, suspension & other components will come from the usual suspects.
Looks great though.... if only I hadn't just bought a Levo!
It’s very interesting
@@SamsBikes where abouts was your test ride? It didn't look like Madrid.. looked more like London.
Oakley sunglasses ventured into the professional camera market with RED, so why not DJI taking on the e-bike market?
If it's from DJI
It's going to be as good if not better than their drones
And their drones are the best in the world
30 seconds in boost mode... which you might have missed. 😂
In all other 3 modes it should be 105Nm/850W
Apple dominates the iPhone market 😅
Take my money
That thing is nearly silent. Wow. I'd love to hear it under load with a heavier rider and a steepish climb
Wish they would give me a bike cause I can test anything to failure. I've broke frame's, swingarms, seat posts, shocks 4 in one year, wheels, pedal arms, bent pedals, calipers, seats, discs, cassettes, derailleur's, bent specialized frames at rear shock mount. I ride 7 days a week and sometimes twice a day it's a pity my specialized didn't charge as fast as this bike cause I could ride more.
Anybody with some trail experience knows that 250w and a good balanced system is MORE than enough to do the job.
Not really. 90nm is enough and more is probably putting unneeded stress on the drive train. But current full fat bikes are 250w peaking up at 600w. My full fat Levo but 6kg lighter at my SL's weight is what is needed imo.
ANY of the existing manufactures could overcharge their motors to 1000w. They DON’T because BIG POWER = BIG BATTERY DRAIN.
just gives the customer what they want .. they want to dry out their battery fast or use power save mode to save battery
Surely it's better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it? You don't need to be boosting all the time. But the 800wh battery is top end energy density. The bike is pretty much SL light too. Best of both worlds?
Time will tell - reliability…warranty… service. TBD.
if the service is like dji refresh care.. it will be superb
We want to know everything
산에서 타는 영상이 충분히 보여져야
No bueno. If that battery is locked in and non swappable, that's a deal breaker.
How much it will cost? I think i will have to sell my kidney for it
Starting at 5-6k for a complete bike
@@SamsBikes wow🤯 i tought at least 10 k for this kind of spec bike😲 maybe you know when it starts pre ordering/selling?
@@belekasas1 5-6k + VAT, maybe + tariffs if ol'Joe has a bad nap, it's DJI after all.
My friend work at DJI, he said the models will range from €7,000 to €12,000
I already sold my kidney for my last bike 🤕
Looks like a levo sl
👍A Bauty and at the same time a Wolf in sheep's Cloting😊
... and polymer (aka plastic) gears. once it gets to hands of some serious riders I hope it will not be breaking like crazy
