- Xenoblade Chronicles 2 brings back KOS-MOS from Xenosaga Episode 1 (2002), this time as a rare blade!
She is an incredibly effective, user-friendly unit that has plenty of passives to keep the driver healthy and safe. Most importantly: her Lv.2 Special is an incredibly potent team heal, letting you turn the tide of battle in her favour!
In my mind, KOS-MOS is one of the "Big Three" Ether Cannon blades. She fits in a comfortable middle-ground, letting her adapt to every situation, in comparison to Sheba and Herald, who shine in particular scenarios. - เกม

I’m still in chapter 7, but earlier today I was lucky enough to get her from a common core crystal on Zeke while I was grinding gold for the Sheba core crystal.

I just got Kos-Mos from a common core pretty early in the game (just got to Uraya) my first rare actually, so I'll most likely be maining her for most of the game. Unfortunately, I don't think i'll be able to properly build her until much later, but luckily, I should have most of her affinity cores unlocked by then.
Literally just got her for Zeke. So glad I got her before the end of the game.
I’ve summoned all my core crystal on Zeke the moment I got him (did some summoning in the other characters prior) and I’ve grinded for crystals for likely many hours and I have gotten no KOS-MOS. Even worse, all the blades I have on Zeke are HEALING BLADES besides Azami (and Sheba) which would of been VERY useful on Nia. Luckily I got a 4* blade so when I max it out boreas is going to Nia

Late answer but hell yes. Half of Morag's Ether Cannon Arts are multi-hit AOE, unlike most of her other Arts so you can gain and maintain aggro from multiple enemies.
Kos-mos is also fairly bulky and high damaging, which compliments Morag as both a Tank and an Attacker.
And then there's the Break Art that goes with Brighid's, so you can make Morag a dedicated Breaker.

This may be off topic, but I can't seem to get a straight answer to this question where ever I go. So the other day I opened Newt on Rex and absolutely fell in love with her design (and Finch!) is there any way that Rex could be a full tank? I kind of want make a team of Rex - Nia - Zeke. (I'm also only on Chapter 5...)
Yup! Rex could totally function as a tank, and occasionally attack with Pyra if he so chooses!
I have every single rare blades (i have KOS-MOS) but i can’t find Sever (ng+)
I have Sheba and Kosmos on my Rex, but it won't let me take Pyra/Mythra off. Since ether cannons scale with ether and the sword girls are strength does it mean I wasted the cannons by drawing them on Rex? Worth the overdrives to move them to someone else?

Yes. Definitely worth the overdrives. Late in the game, Rex gets the ability to equip all blades, regardless of who they are bonded to. Rex has pretty balanced stats, so ether blades on him is perfectly fine.

I may or may not have got KOS-MOS as Zeke's second Rare Blade, after Zenobia. From a Common Crystal as well. I got very lucky with Zeke's bonds, very lucky indeed
Any tips for getting Kos-Mos (last missing blade)? I am already releasing 10 commons and opening 10 cores at a time (on Zeke with 10 justice and 9 everything else, can reach about >900 luck). I have read that too much luck can actually be bad. Is there a big difference between rare and legendary cores?
Are the super bosses more effective than the lvl 99 Arma you feed? And according to a Nopon in Argentum the difference between the ideas or whatever they are called does not matter, but only which one is the highest.

Correct, only the highest idea matters. The arduran you feed is by far the fastest way to farm legendary cores. Legendary cores have over twice the multiplier of rare cores. Never use commons, as they have approximately 1/40th of the chance of a legendary core.
What accessories should I give to Zeke?

Were you using tachyon chips on all 3 blades?
I got her by accident while I was just trying to lower the number of common core crystals in my inventory (getting maxed out is so easy). Had no luck accessories equipped because I wasn't aiming for a rare summon. Just didn't want to waste all the common core crystals I collecting. My eyes blew wide open when I summoned her! Heck, I even summoned her with Zeke! Unfortunately, I skipped the awakening. At least you can check it out anytime at the title screen!

so i will finish the game pretty soon, what are the first things I should do post-game besides of sidequests?
There are the "superbosses", the unique monsters that are over Lv99. Most of them are quite challenging and put your party-building skills to the test.
There is also town development, which opens the way to special bonus "Deeds" that give an advantage per shop. Otherwise, there are the sidequests you mentioned, but I recommend trying the quests that are exclusive to the Rare Blades, as it gives you access to more affinity chart rewards upon completion.
She really effective even on healers like Nia since her ether are high, she can deal at least 400k-600k damage per lvl.3 blade combo
KOS-MOS was my first rare blade, but I sadly got her on Nia, do you think I should use her on Rex (after chapter 8 you don't need a overdrive protocol for Rex, right?) or should I put her on Zeke using one of my overdrives?
Put her on Zeke because rex doesn't need 2 light blades.
Nia can actually go Holy Cavalier without too many problems. I had her as one with Wulfric for much of the game, and the AI is smart enough to make it work properly - it always switches Blade if the party needs healing and then does the healing - and that was using a Blade that has a less useful stat modifier for Nia. Aggro also isn't as much as a problem for her, because she still gets 2 levels in -aggro for Arts and Specials from her class as a Holy Cavalier
I just got her on Zeke. I love her design; she's a very cool blade with awesome traits. Sadly, I like to use driver combos, so I don't use ether cannons for most part :
嘻 She has break when Zeke is using her so it wouldn't hinder your ability to finish driver combos. I may put her on Nia though because of her ether damage potential. There is so many great party options that I find myself wasting allot of time deciding which combination of drivers and blades to use for each play session.
I beat Tyrannotitan Kurodil in only 39 seconds. Note that this is only possible after getting maxing out arts, getting S+ on any of the equipped blades, equipping the best accessories, using the best pouch items, equipping the best aux cores, and applying the best chips. I don't really use a specific set of blades when I did this, so it is always really fun to beat my personal best time which was previously 54 seconds. I recommend using the Fiora crit-heal build on Rex.
Wait how did you run Zeke without Pandoria? I beat the game but but haven’t found a wait to disengage her.

Where can I farm Hunter Chemistry Aux Cores? Currently on chapter 8.
Cloud Zero If you have the blade Herald there is a strategy that can easily kill off the Sauros enemies in Temperantia that drop Hunters Chemistry V cores. Nn Li showed off the strategy in his Herald guide.
So for people whom are still farming for there last rare blade, for most people [myself included] i found out that your rates at getting a rare blade goes up in relation to the elements of the commons you summoned. Eg: for kosmos, the more dark blades you have the higher your chance at Kosmos. Or for Zenobia, the more ice and wind common blades you summon, the higher your chances at, well zenobia. Also your character’s idea stats will effect that, the one that’s at the highest will effect which element spawn’s most often.

This is incorrect information. Your chances of getting a rare blade is totally unaffected by your common blades. Having 50 dark blades has the same chance as having 0 dark blades. From my experience, idea levels don't really matter in terms of elements, and DEFINITELY make 0 difference in the element of a rare blade. Using 5 bravery boosters has the same chance of getting kosmos as using 5 justice boosters (assuming your bravery and justice levels are the same).
There are only 4 things that determine the chance of a rare blade: a blade's base chance (kosmos is lowest in the game), luck level (has a minimal effect), your highest idea level (type doesn't matter), and type of core crystal.
What would Nia with 3 ether cannons be like? Don't know her moveset for them off-hand, but she'd theoretically have the highest damage for their abilities and specials, right? Since she has the highest ether stat of any party member, and it's not like you'd be using her as a healer in this situation anyway.
Why did they make this Blade so hard to get? I finally got her last night, and it was awesome, but why? Just why?
Well you guys are so lucky to get her and while i am still trying to get her but unsuccessful in getting her. I wish i knew what i am doing wrong. I'm using rare and legendary core crystals to get them but not a one shows of me getting close to getting her. I mean is there a trick into getting her or is it just luck?

You keep levels, items, money, affinity charts, blades bonded.
You lose merc mission progress (Ursula gets reset if you haven't already maxed her), quest progress, and story progress.
Anyone got a spare KOS-MOS? I so want this beauty :). Anyways, how many got KOS-MOS as their last Blade ? Cause I am trying to find out how this blade-bonding works. It seems that some blades will First be available after a certain chapter.
One thing. the flashing of the 3 last blades (when bonding) it keeps me thinking that if you press a button at exactly the same time as the controller vibrates, and a blade flashes. It will do something.
Cause I see no point in showing uS the 2 blades you are not Getting. Unless they Would do it just to annoy you. (Look what You didn't got, but you got close).
I guess its sorta like a slot machine, it rolls past what you wanted, making you want to try again because you were so close, keeping you addicted

hey Nn Li I don't know if you read these but I know you were having trouble finding the affinity max attack 5 aux core. I just found one of the guys that drops them, so you can add to future vids or edit old ones like this kos mos vid to help people. Its dropped by one of the lvl 95--97 driver and blade guy enemies at the olethro playhouse area. I don't know which of the 4 guys it was cause I killed them so fast wasn't sure which one it was but it was one of them. Hope this helps for future videos
Hey everyone just an update to this post. I know for certain that the Wrath driver and lvl 99 beast-hunter William Unique at Olethro Playhouse in Kingdom of Uraya drops the max affinity attack lvl 5 aux core. I am not sure about the other driver enemies but I know these two definitely do drop it so enjoy

Aaron Luedemann is because you can't leave the first slot empty, even if the signature blade is in the second slot you are not able to disengage whoever is on the first slot

Today is indeed my LUCKY day! Not only have I managed to summon mass rare blades in less than an hour, I even managed to summon KOS MOS on the character I wanted. I kid you not! Today, I got Floren, Newt, and KOS MOS. My goal was I had the character's luck stat raised as high as I possibly could, I did use boosters(for KOS MOS. I also got Floren from the boosters but it wasn't earth/lightning), and keep an eye out and pray. I have not finished the story yet and I have like 3 blades left to summon (Technically 4 but Theory is pretty much a given) Agate, Gorg, and Zenobia.Though I farmed the HELL out of rare core crystals and managed to even get some legendary cores out of it as well. What I noticed is when I use chain attacks and burst orbs, I tend to get frequent rare core crystals as long as I get an overkill. I don't know if it works for other results. Bragging rights!
Its annoying that the AI team members cant just revive allies other than you on their own....
They want the party gauge in control of the player. It would be far more annoying if they spent the party gauge without any control from the player. Xenoblade X was guilty of this with your party members wasting their TP when you've been knocked out, instead of pooling it and rezzing you.

Azami is really good, she's just really specialized. She's best when you drop the Avant Garde Medal and predict when an attack puts you under 30% HP (or have a Revival Pod.) Once you're at that point you can then use a very high damage Chain Attack or Blade Combo. She's also one of the best options against enemies that can nullify healing such as Jin and Confiscator Jimmy. She's one of the only Blades besides Patroka who benefits when fighting them.
Azami is a very well balanced Blade, just not as easy to use or horribly broken as Kos-mos.
Still trying to unlock this blade and i hate the final boss fight in phase 2

I use Rex, nia and Mòrag for the final boss But i need some tips How to beat it in phase 2 and 3. I'm all fine in phase 1 But when i Get to phase 2 That's where i Get screwed with his goddamn enemies he sends out
I was having trouble too until I grinded to lvl 74 (was lvl 66 when I first faced Logos). But the biggest change I made was using Nia as a Blade instead of Driver. Unlocked her affinity lvl 3 tree (by this point u shyould have a lot of gold, just buy her liked items).
Rex + Blade Nia/Morag/Zeke
I then bought pouch items from the shop in Fonsett village for ether defense (this was incredibly helpful against Blizzard and that one move that shackles your blades) and max hp barrier. I also upgraded my AUX cores to lvl 4 and 5 for evasion, shackle resistances and specials power up.
Was able to beat Logos RELATIVELY easily afterwards. He isn't a particularly difficult boss but the biggest thing against him (if you aren't strong enough to just steamroll him) is being able to get those elemental orbs on him so you chain attack and burst him down quickly. If you're like me where I didn't even bother to properly learn how to combo until the last fight, you'll have a rough time. If you can already do so proficiently however, it becomes a matter of timing as you'll undoubtedly make it to Phase 2 and 3 with ease and thats when he'll unleash Prometheus if you can't beat him in a timely manner.
Anyway, after you those orbs on him (3 at least), begin to gauge his health and your damage output. Once you figure he is low enough (around 45% hp), keep your chain attack for when he begins to use Prometheus or Siren Light (if you're in danger of dying while in phase 3) but before you do any of that, switch to Pneuma THEN Chain Attack him. Proc the elemental orbs for Burst and it should be easy going from there.

I was using Tora as a tank, and I was playing as Rex. I didn't even realise that he can deploy those minions multiple times until near the end, because I was way off to the side to get more out of Double Spinning Edge and couldn't see them, and the minions weren't killing Tora, between Poppi Alpha being quite durable and Nia healing the whole team without my help. I was only level 69, too. (note: With the Pentagon Chip and level 4 Affinity Chart passives, Poppi Alpha gets a block rate above 90% when below 30% health, with no help from Poppiswap at all, and can achieve incredibly high both physical and ether defence if you've used Poppiswap to upgrade her role CPU to a better model - just get the tech manual from the chest near the unique Radcliffe enemy and enough Ether Crystals to make and install the level V CPU. Also, one of Poppi Alpha's available Driver Arts causes HP to regenerate whenever someone attacks Tora, so when Tora uses that the presence of minions is actually helpful. Mòrag gets essentially the same Art on Shield Hammers, and they get the same raw Block Rate as Poppi Alpha from the Pentagon Chip (however, you'll need a passive with increased block rate on the hammer to match Poppi (Electra has such a passive, and also has Ether counterattacks), and Emergency Mode from an Aux Core if you want that bonus).
Final boss only has 2 stages. (Separated by cutscene). For the 1st stage, get a Darkness orb on him. It will stop him from summoning minions. Wail on him until you can take him down to 3/4 hp with a chain attack. (You can use ascended pneuma.)
After the cutscene, you want to build orbs quickly. Just build as many as possible before he uses "flame gear." that ability will make his next "siren buster" 1 shot you and your party.
When you see him using siren buster after flame gear, use a chain attack, and you will take 0 damage while it's happening. If you manage to get 5 orbs on him, use ascended pneuma and chain attack. It should instantly kill him.
Finally!
It took me probably 200 legendary core crystals to get my last 2 rare blades : P (KOS-MOS and Dahlia)

Patrick Simpson Rex can have any blade he wants, so it's fine if you have Sheba on him, like I did (used an Overdrive to put her on Zeke)
I mainly just use Zeke with Ether Cannons because it comes with a break, but their movesets are largely the same.

It's not like in chain attack you're going to use anything other than Kosmos anyway.
I got Kos Mos Really early on Rex, but I ended up using mythra instead. I didn't realise how good she is.

Kos-Mos has the highest ether mod in a blade, so I think it is supposed to go to a hybrid healer
I ended up with Azami and since I had Percival and later Vale was probably my most common blade combo
By the way. What core chip did you use?
These days, I use the Moon Matter chip since her most used special (Lv.1) does extra critical damage.

Genuine Question: is KOS-MOS really that rare? looking at chronological scale, besides story blades, i only got one common blade before pulling her, and yet i see people saying she's that last one they need. Did i just get really lucky or is everyone trolling on the rarity of her?

I think KOS-MOS really shines in Chain Attacks since, with specials, her damage is equal to Heralds I think. If you have Zenobia, her, and Herald on different people and manage to break all the orbs, you deal MASSIVE damage
Shiba would also be good instead of Zenobia I think if you're not going against higher levels or Tyrants
I got her in my blind playthrough infect she morag’s first pull when she joined the party i was hyyyyype XD 40 hours in and most people spend houndreds and have to grind!! I get to story board her XD
Tip-Trick I learned used from one guide, collect as many common Dark and Light common blades as you can, what this does smallen the blade pool and your chances of pulling KOS-MOS increase, equips bunch of Luck based items to....? I guess....?

I roll her from a common core on my 1st playthrough. On this one i play now i have open over 300 legendary and 500 rare and nothing.
i just got her today man i been grinding and grinding with no hope left then looked up online about the luck thing so i equipped my luck rings and boosts on nia dn rex i opened a legendary core on rex it failed an was just a common blade then i went to nia took a deep breath an also i have like 7 blades left to collect an pressed the button i saw a girl coming out of a machine i was like is that kos mos cuz thats who im really aiming for then bam it was her i was like YES! lol i wonder how powerful she is an see how much better she is then sheba cuz she was my first bae that got me through the game.
Sheba carried me through the game too! KOS-MOS has some pretty excellent tools at her disposal, so enjoy!

She is the only other light elemental blade in the game, and she has a fantastic heal in the form of her Lv2 Combo.
I've heard the term "Attack cancelling" a lot.. what exactly does it mean?
It means you use an Art or Special the second any auto attack in a combo connects - it shows you got it by getting a blue ring appear around your character - its a good way to build specials (even better if you cancel the last auto attack in a combo) and affinity faster.
Rey Arocha using an attack skill right as an auto attack lands will cancel the animation and increase the power of the skill. Its denoted by a blue circle emanating from the center of the screen.
Ohhh, ok. I've been doing that because I remember the tutorial in the beginning of the game told me to but I skimmed through most of the beginning tutorials anyway and didn't know that was termed Attack Cancelling. Thanks.
Rey Arocha later on you can even cancel skills with other skills its pretty useful to get a huge burst of damage and special charge
Interesting. Is that something that unlocks later in the game, or can certain skills just do that naturally?

Sheba on Morag can still work. Feel free to experiment with the Ether Cannon moveset on all party members and see which ones work best for your purposes!
