I love Starship Troopers. It is one of my favorite movies. I know every line in that film. This song is awesome. Zoe sings it quite well. I wish it was on the soundtrack. I have been looking everywhere for this particular song.
This song, I guess combined with the impact the movie had on me, is burned into my psyche for the remainder of my days. It will always activate feelings of a warmer time in life.
It's not underrated. Its actually blacklisted by Uninted States Govt as a "potentially dangerous movie" or something bc of the political shit. It's my all time favorite movie along with Tremors and Adam's family. I know too much about old movies lol.
9 Years ago you wrote this, probs won't see this response but as a 6 year old watching this with my Dad (am now 28) This film did a f**cking amazing Job of making me believe this is what the future would look like. This movie is an untouchable classic, that Klendathu drop scene, Outpost whisky.. Untouchable classic
Anyone else realise that Brother Gabriel and Sugar Watkins are the same actor. Rico, "You tryin' to be a hero Watkins?" Sugar, "Just tryin' ta kill some bugs sir!"
I've always loved this song from the movie, but I never looked into it until now. Should've known it was originally done by a master. And Zoe does a stellar cover.

Such a badass movie this song sounds so peaceful and calm knowing that all those really young happy boys and girls with their dates will soon be called upon from the Federation to fight an enemy that doesnt even fear death...

Am I the first person to see her name, and immediately check to see if she is related to legendary composer Basil Poledouris, creator of the iconic Conan soundtrack? *spoiler* It's his daughter.
Basil Poledouris was Paul Verhoevens go to man when it came to the movie scores, similar to how Tim Burton always goes to Danny Elfman, or Michael Bay to Hans Zimmer.
No, I have not been to paraDIIIIIIIIIISE... Toll the bell, watch the days go by... All is well... 23rd century dies... Sorry, David Bowie, this one got stuck in my soul before I ever heard you sing the tune.
Cool. Took a long time to find a full version of this many years ago. I wonder if she ended up recording it after so many requests. Thanks for sharing.
Enjoying the graduation dance before going off to war dancing all night on your two feet excited and feeling so young and strong possibly the last time u will enjoy this youth for u will come home either in a bodybag or disabled for life
“When you vote, you are exercising political authority, you're using force. And force, my friends, is violence. The supreme authority from which all other authorities are derived.” ― Robert A. Heinlein
Here due to Starship Troopers. Presuming it was just another movie to glorify military and war, I ignored it in my youth, save for one instance of seeing the first half hour at most. Now I'm watching it thanks to a book which gave me a new perspective on it - "National Security Cinema" by Matthew Alford and Tom Secker, released just last year. The book is about CIA and DOD influence in Hollywood, and I highly recommend it.
Just do the maths. It takes a meteor from Klendathu at the very least more than 75000 years to reach earth. Also bugs have no technology to monitor our planet at that distance. So what do you think are the odds that the bugs attacked earth intentionally? If you want more arguments to prove my point, please ask.
Original lyrics: "Toll the bell, PAY THE PRIVATE EYE, all is well, 20TH century dies. This is my bunk, with two sheets. This is my food, though foul... and this is what I could have been:"
@Patshiv The novel is not satire. Heinlein was ex-Navy writing during the Cold War. His story is as serious as sci fi gets. Yes, the movie's "Fednet" segments are obvious parodies of WW II propaganda, but the rest of the film is played straight. Two examples of non-satirical silliness in the film: (1) An asteroid attracts the coffee cup but not the starship; (2) A live-fire range in the middle of a crowded base.
"Figuring things out for yourself is the only freedom anyone really has. Use that freedom."

The enemy cannot push a button if you disable his hand.

Putchur hand on that wall!
That part always makes me cringe anytime I see a knife stab a hand
The enemy cannot press the like button if you disable his hand
RIP David Bowie.
+Steven Langenfeld And Basil Poledouris.
Loved Starship Troopers and loved this song in it. Gave that brilliant calm feeling before it all went to shit.
exactly what I was thinking lol
Never pass up a good thing.
This song, I guess combined with the impact the movie had on me, is burned into my psyche for the remainder of my days. It will always activate feelings of a warmer time in life.
This is the film I associate with the end of my teenage years. It blew me away. And the soundtrack is rich. One of my favourite films.
Seriously, seriously underrated movie. One of my personal favorites ever since I was 16 and saw it in theatres
It's not underrated. Its actually blacklisted by Uninted States Govt as a "potentially dangerous movie" or something bc of the political shit. It's my all time favorite movie along with Tremors and Adam's family. I know too much about old movies lol.
Agreed one of my favorites recently just watched it for the first time fully as my dad loves it sad tho it’s underrated and forgotten now a day
@@jking0.o121 i wouldn't say blacklisted, i watched this when i was 7 or 8 years old, 15 yrs ago. Just lost to time

a good bug is a dead bug. i'm doing my part!
Anyone else realise that Brother Gabriel and Sugar Watkins are the same actor.
Rico, "You tryin' to be a hero Watkins?"
Sugar, "Just tryin' ta kill some bugs sir!"
Sugar Watkins is a true federation hero!
One of the greatest films ever. Seriously. The imagery, the symbolism... And this song. 😍
I've always loved this song from the movie, but I never looked into it until now. Should've known it was originally done by a master. And Zoe does a stellar cover.
Jake Busey haunts me to this day, he was the scariest killer bug of them all. Those teeth, terrifying.
**touches oversized tooth** _It's afraid!_
You should watch the movie Frighteners
This song was sung at my senior prom last dance
Did you sign up for Mobile Infantry right after?
Abroadhawk the fleet does the flying, the infantry the dying

Me too. I prefer the movie version
02:08 It kinda sounds trancy this is the part it plays in the movie.
doointhedoo It's the mix, it's the same version but with the vocals accentuated in the movie scene, and some fading added when there's dialogue.
@TakeMyShoesOff I started watching this movie again. It's one of my favorites and I was hoping that the movie version would be available
Indeed... came here expecting the dreamy dance tune I heard during the film
Such a badass movie this song sounds so peaceful and calm knowing that all those really young happy boys and girls with their dates will soon be called upon from the Federation to fight an enemy that doesnt even fear death...
Yup listen to the lyrics basically describes what they go through movie
Doesn't fear death? But they're afraid. THEY'RE AFRAID!
@@SlainOracle The brainbug is, because its intelligent
@@TheRogueminator they're all afraid because the humans landed on their planet, nuked a bug unprovoked and started massacring the other bugs
The federation let the asteroid through and knew it wasn’t from the bugs to begin with.
Everyone fights. No one quits.
Cool song!!! I enjoy Starship Troopers (the first one Only). This song got my attention, Zoe P. did it right. Totally smooth.
Having Mr. Krabs as a Drill Sergeant and Richter as your lieutenant would be a blast.
Or Lex Luthor and Darkseid
And Doogie Houser as the bug brain scientist.
We are going in with first wave. Means more bugs for us to kill. You smash the entire area, you kill anything that has more than two legs. DO YOU GET ME?

Very cool.... Never heard of him until now, though
Basil Poledouris was Paul Verhoevens go to man when it came to the movie scores, similar to how Tim Burton always goes to Danny Elfman, or Michael Bay to Hans Zimmer.
He also scored Starship Troopers
Just saying this song is fantastic in it's own right and we should say that more.

No mention of the fact that this was written by David Bowie, being a cover from his song "Oxford Town" from the 1995 album "1-Outside"
