The cover by Zoë was only officially available on the deluxe version of the soundtrack and is now very hard to find and costly.
Tired of having low quality versions on youtube, I decided to go on a hunt. That said expensive deluxe cd is out there but i just couldn't break the bank for it.
Nearly defeated I found this British site (lucky for me) called Elite Soundtracks. They do a bunch of cool stuff, including the Starship Troopers soundtrack with this song on it!! Couldn't believe it, tried my luck and bought it.
Its exactly what i wanted. Made this video so we can all have a decent copy of the song. I ripped from CD to WAV lossless and made a vid of pics of my own copy of the cd and rendered out as high quality as i could get before youtube compression gets to it.
I'm doing my part!

I was absolutely entranced by this song the first time I saw this movie. I searched for a copy for years but luckily TH-cam came to my aid! Quite why this was never on general release I've no idea as it's one of the best songs ever to feature on a movie soundtrack IMO. Another unreleased gem was The Homecoming by The Pretenders (GI Jane) although I think this has since featured on an album.

side note: not long after i got this bootleg cd I managed to find the legit official deluxe version of the soundtrack that was released at the time of the movie that DOES include this song, cost an arm and a leg but nice to have the real thing. i compared the audio files from this bootleg and the original, they are EXACTLY the same - no difference in quality. seems this bootleg must've had the original cd too and just ripped the song from it make their own copies

This is the exact version of the song I've been looking for and I thought it didn't exist and that it was only in the movies party scene wow great find dude! I'm a big fan too! And thanks for the upload!
ive been there dude, for years i wondered about this song without actually doing any research. the song was sung by the soundtrack composers daughter. it being a david bowie cover, releasing the films soundtrack would mean they have to clear copyright and all that. they only managed to secure rights to print a few thousand deluxe versions of the soundtrack and that is whats really expensive and hard to find, hence so little high quality cd rips. they released a regular soundtrack album, everything exactly the same minus this song and its very cheap and very common. this version i uploaded was ripped from an original copy that was later burnt onto a bootleg cd which you see in the pictures. i spent years trying to find the deluxe cd or just a decent hq version of the song, in the end i found a bootleg (this one) and just bought it and hoped it had a good copy of this song. it does. then few months afterwards i found the legit deluxe cd soundtrack so now i have the official release as well. ive compared the two with headphones...cannot tell a difference at all.

This is a good quality cut. I've heard other versions that are slightly different and don't sound as good as this or the movie.
I do wish it ended with that 2nd drawn out "ALL is welllll"...but it is what it is.
I think this quality edges out the other version that I frequently leave on repeat now that I've finally found this song.

i do like that moment too, alas its just the film editing. yeah this is ripped from a bootleg cd i bought which was taken from the original deluxe version of the films soundtrack on cd. i have since acquired the original release on cd and after comparing both audio files there is no difference in quality so i still think this is the best quality you can get on youtube, what with compression and all. you're most welcome, it had to be done :)

There's another version of Zoe doing a slightly longer version of this song that doesn't sound as good either. Too much focus on the background instrumental with nothing impressive going on and tinny canned out drums...

you're welcome. and yeah unfortunately i highly doubt it will ever be on streaming as its derived from a david bowie song, not only that but its also a movie song so it gets complicated with bowie's estate and ownership, the movie copyright issues and it just goes on and on. hence why they only did a small number of the deluxe versions then just made another version that had no ownership issues to sell as they please. so in theory that album could be streamable, it just hasnt happened yet - basil poledouris's other soundtracks are on spotify, including robocop, so there is hope...but not much for this song in particular 😥
@@BloodHeroProductions I've looked around a bit and there were a few "extra" editions released, besides the official OST. There was one "The Complete OST" release in Germany, but it did not include any of the songs performed by Zoe. Then there is the Deluxe (or Club or Complete) edition released in the US in 2016. It was limited to 3000 copies and includes both Into It and I Have Not Been To Oxford Town, the latter with a run time of 3:48.
What is the runtime of the song on your copy from elitesoundtracks? I assume you did not post it in the whole length?
@@Zerker666 yeah i own all of them :) , its only this "bootleg" i used in the pictures above and the official deluxe version from 2016 that include the paradise song. the one KEY difference is the bootleg has cut out 1:40ish of the beginning of the song WHICH is still Zoe singing the original part of Bowies song with the same lyrics as him, music is slightly different to the movie version though. at 1:40 mins in the song quickly transitions into the "movie" version that we all know and love. THAT part of the song onwards is what is above and is the full 2:11 track on the elite soundtrack, it is missing the start of the original song but has the best part we all want. my thinking is they couldn't clear the part of the song that had the exact lyrics of Bowies but they were allowed to sell CD's that included the part where they cover Bowies track but with the movies lyrics.
the deluxe version obviously includes the whole song; both parts coming in at 3:48.
i've been waiting for someone to question that and i said to myself, until they do i wont do a video on the full version (im lazy sometimes) but now i gotta haha. i'll burn the cd to my computer later on, take pics of every part of the case and make a video. check back later or in a day or two and ill have the full song uploaded and TECHNICALLY THAT will be the highest quality upload of it as it was granted permission to use master files by copyright holders to go ahead with a new release of the full soundtrack.

its a cover of a david bowie song - it has always been tied up in legal right issues as it's owned by bowies estate so they have final say on any covers. doubt it will ever get an official spotify release :'(

Hmm, nice find.
However, the mix is somewhat curious. Sometimes the voiceover dominates the mix and then the background comes back again.
Some differences to the other mix that is around on youtube, which has a tiny hiss and a little harsher more pronounced distorted guitar.
I learned there is a 1000 copy disk, which might be impossible to find.
EDIT:
First: This is actually a cover of the David Bowie Song "I have not been to Oxford Town".
Forementioned Version actually has Miss Poledoris sing: "i have not been to Oxford Town and only in later repetitions she changes it to "I have not been to paradise".
In this Version the Background Vocals behave a little strange, the fade out more, come back, the singers voice sometimes completely dominates everything, sounding like it was sung over the other version. It starts with "i have not been to Paradise."
Now i am confused. Anyway, i like the other version better, since it has the oxford town part and despite some tiny hisses for eg on "town", its the overall better mix.
EDIT 2:
Epiphany: This is actually >really< from the movie meaning really being IN the movie.
In the scene Zoe Poledouris can be seen singing. So she is on stage, the song is played and she sings over the the background. Explains the mix, explains the missing "Oxford Town".

the edits we're great to watch, couldnt ever reply in time before you discovered more haha. if you read my description and all the comments below (i dont expect you to), literally everything you said we have discussed already and i have since acquired that rare 1000 official release, not impossible but it wasnt cheap. i just havent uploaded the song from that CD yet. but they are the same except this bootleg has cut out the beginning of the official release of the movie cover version. the reason the bootleg did this i think is because in the movie we never hear this part, only when zoe starts singing and THATS what the bootleg has for us here; its just cut out the part we never hear in the film. the rare official deluxe edition has the full version, and like i said, i havent uploaded it yet updated with pics of the cd case and inserts like ive done for this bootleg. ive compared the two songs in adobe audition, except for the cut out part they are exactly the same so this is still the best and most official version of the song on youtube.

I am really curious over the disks you got. I assumed the whole disk you got would actually be like my very first "OST", which was actually just a cover not the OST.
(The Soundtrack to Starwars "a new hope" when it was still starwars.) I was surprised to learn that the Soundtrack was two vinyls where my copy was only one side and the other half extracts of Gustav Hosts "The planets". Which is actually very interesting of its own. I digress...
I thought it might be not the original recording at all. Like i mentioned, this might actually be from the movie.
I am really curious about the version you got, since now noticed some imperfections on the mp3 song i have now.
So i would be very curious if your copy also has those tiny hiss or if those are relicts of early MP3 conversions. Those tiny imperfections came to my awareness after i started into looking into mixing music.
EDIT: btw another fun fact: I revisited ST because of Helldivers 2.

@@BloodHeroProductionsI am hoping for your release since i got he feeling the one full version i found was grabbed from a Vinyl. I believe i hear on "plopp" from the vinyl and T and S sounds are hissy. A Flac version would be awesome.
@@HomerNarr i dont own the vinyl release. without checking google i dont think they ever released one on record back at the time of the films release BUT they have done one in recent years, thats the one i dont own so i cant confirm what tracks it has on there and how they sound. the version you have could very well be the record they put out only a few years ago. i will upload my cd on here somewhen, just finding the time. maybe this weekend if i actually pencil it in or something. then its done. the cd is on my desk at all times so i have a constant reminder too!

All the recordings of this song have the same problem. Music is too loud and you can barely hear the women singing; in this case Zoe Poledouris. No one has taken the time to reduce the Intensity of the music and raise the sound of the singer's voice.
its something i can do, just haven't because i don't really notice any issues and much prefer to leave things in its original form. but this is how the studio put the track out and intended for it to sound. i might edit it one day but i still need to upload to whole soundtrack and that's something i've been saying i'll do for months now 😂
Would you consider uploading the HQ version of Into It too? That's another Zoe song where there's only low-quality versions with the comic sans title cards on YT.
i plan to upload the whole album still, ive since acquired the official release (which is what my bootleg was ripped from) so it cant get any more legit than that. i just havent done it yet, but i will along with pictures of the cd and all that 👍👍
