Lyrics:
I was lying on the grass on Sunday morning of last week
Indulging in my self defeat
My mind was thugged all laced and bugged all twisted wrong and beat
A comfortable three feet deep
Now the fuzzy stare from not being there on a confusing morning week
Impaired my tribal lunar speak
And of course you can't become if you only say what you would have done
So I missed a million miles of fun
I know it's up for me
If you steal my sunshine
Making sure I'm not in too deep
If you steal my sunshine
Keeping versed and on my feet
If you steal my sunshine
The song that echoes the end of the amazing 90's. A song so good it sounds fresh many years later
I listen to it everyday damn day
Well put love it👍💯
@@Atomshamradio thanks
I absolutely agree! I wish it had a portal between present days and 90's! It would be wonderful!
Can not think of a better way to describe this master piece 🙌
My brain has never left 90's dimension, every time I hear timeless classics from the 90's I am transported back in time/home. 💞👌😊👍
Omg best comment! Same…we’re definitely from the same dimension and probably ran into each other at some point

This was my brother's favourite song. We used to listen to it all the time.
He sadly left us a few years back. He had a brain condition. He stayed really cheerful up to the end and said he didn't want anyone to be sad, but just to remember all the good times we had together.
Miss you every day bro.
My deepest condolences! keep your head up

Born in Jan of 82, graduated in 2000. Long live the 90’s music era ❤️ can’t steal our sunshine!
Same. We were the last of Gen X. Saw the end of the landline, the beginning of the internet, the ridiculous idea that the boomers had something to sell out from, and aghast at the protective bubbles in which the fragile millenials were placed.
'83 here, graduated in 2001. This song takes me back to that beautiful end of the 90s where my summers were spent hanging out at the local waterpark in the blazing hot summer sun, laying on an innertube, listening to the 90s jams pumping out of the nearby speakers with not another single care in the entire world other than THAT moment right there. It feels like absolute bliss now.

This song makes life a lil better just for a little bit and that's alright with me 😊😊😊

Well this is one of those songs that transcends peace and violence. It could be in a Disney cartoon or a horror film and would be totally appropriate.

So lucky i was born in the 80s and have lived these good old times.
I can totally identify with that. I don’t know if this song was released during the summer, but that was the first time that I heard that song, it was a summer in the 90s and my friends and I were heading to the beach. It was the perfect setting for that song…

As long as you didn't poop your pants, I think you're all good.

Probably one of the top 10 songs of 1999 that truly made a mark, or true statement as to how cool the 90's were. Good times!
Born in 78. The 90’s and early 2000’s were great. No cellphones all over the place. No social media. You would just roll up to someone’s house to see if they were there. I wish I knew then, how special those times were.

The 1990's was the calm before the storm. We didn't know how good we had it.
It was a fool's paradise. The warning signs of things to come were there but we didn't know it at the time.
The 1980s was the end of the fun and innocent era because in the 90s school shootings started. It started with the columbine high school massacre and then continued on. We had the Rodney King riots in Los Angeles, grunge music glorifying mental illness and suicide. We had musician over dosing and literally committing suicide also gangster rap glorifying murder rape and prostitution (pimping) Rap artists killing each other because of the West coast East coast rivalry that killed 2 pac and biggie smalls. America in the 1990s became a violent place

fern dizzle love this story! S/o your niece
She is ready.....
😊
that's beautiful, man

This video perfectly captures the essence of the '90s, featuring random yet talented individuals trying to look cool in front of the camera. I mean that in the best way.
This is still pop perfection until this day
more, more, more, that's a better version than this crap
One of the only pop songs I seem to enjoy.
pop is short for popular so technically its not really pop anymore
Saad Merhebi who the fuck cares
CYBERSPECTRUMND you said "this is pop perfection" I'm telling you this isn't pop sooooo just correcting youuu
Kids of today, sorry you missed growing up in the 90's. My sincere condolences!
its 2021 and I want to go back especially early 2000s

Hey bud it’s all our media pushing the racism. 99% are decent people... Keep those good vibes my man!! 🤙🏻🌞
Staying up late on school nights/weekends, and watching videos on VH1 and MTV. Seeing this pop up, then "You Get What You Give" right after. Man the good ol days where anyone could just enjoy songs.
Summer 1999. How did 20 years go so fast?
I graduated high school in 1999. I honestly don't know where the time went.

I absolutely adore how they fit "l-a-t-e-r that week" into the beat. It will always be one of my favourite songwriting moments in pop music.

@d4life yall my folks😂😂😂😂

@Hellwyck a "one hit wonder" doesn't have to be number one, that's never what that saying meant. So not only did you fail to correct a stranger on the internet, but you failed in your correction. Please reassess yourself before attempting to communicate with other humans. @Annabelle I agree, this song is a bop and always will be.
This song was on the radio a lot on my way to comfort my 5 month nephew battling Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. He died 1 month short of his first birthday. My Sunshine was stolen, but I will get it back in the next life.
My parents used to talk about how great the 60’s & 70’s were and now I can relate being Born in 1980 so grew up 80’s & 90’s two of the best decades. Remember this song like it was yesterday

'92 baby hereeee, I love the 90s music and this song is a stand out in my memories
Man do I miss the late 90s. 1998 i was 18. Being a teen in the 90s was awesome! No worries, no cell phones, no social media. Friends, parties, music and movies. Man do i miss the closeness. Especially calling each other on actual phones and talking for hours. Today's world is falling apart and it does not even resemble anything back then. Sad really.
Agreed, I also was 18🙌🏽
Same bro. I was 18 too. Class of '96

I got my first cell phone in 1993 While in high school. A motorola ultra lite or something like that. The grey one with flip bottom. I was one of the only ones in school to have one so was useless as I could only really phone my folks lol
Man I remember being a kid listening to this wishing I was an adult. Now as an adult with a teenager of my own I sure wish I could go back to those days. Life goes by so fast.

This is why it's so important to learn to live in the present, otherwise you'll always be wishing for another time. Speaking of the 90's, Cheryl Crowe had a song called "Soak Up The Sun" which has a lyric in it that's apropos: "It's not getting what you want, it's wanting what you got."
amen

This brings me back to when me and my friends first got our drivers licenses. Songs like this were always on the car radio. Such a carefree time.
A few years ago, I bought my first new car. As I drove it off the lot, this was the first song I found on the radio. I blasted it; it was bliss.
"This brings me back" -- stop there, lol. Nostaglia's for nostrils -- quit picking your nose, people!! :)
As a child of the 90s who suffered from mad depression, this song was a delight, always picks me up
People talk about copying and stuff but you'll never be able to replicate their unique voices and how well they go together
After 2020, you realize this video is truly a encapsulation of a freer and happier time
Well definitely being able to walk up to the airline gate and welcome your friends as they got off the planes in retrospect was a nice freedom we took for granted.
@NukeTheWhales more free, definitely.
Happier? It's all perspective
True! 9/11 marked a polar shift in attitudes and modicum.
@@pavelow235 Yeah the airport thing was the freedom we took for granted, and totally not the freedom from mass domestic surveillance.

The late 90’s was the era of the one hit wonders. This song was in the MTV rotation at least twice an hour and was in a couple of movies.
Say what ya'll want about this tune, but this song was HUGE in its day. And will still be played on the airwaves long after your and my ass has left this Earth. Certain songs will stand the test of time and this will be one people.

Aint no one saying anything lol this song is fire
it's a great song
Nobody's saying anything because nobody knows what the song is about.
It was THE monster hit of the 90s. Right at the end of the 90s.
This song embodies the mental freedom you’re longing for.
I'm in Bay County Florida, riding a Jetski while getting a handjob from a solid 7.5 off Tinder. And the entire time I'm shooting off a .38 snub nosed revolver into the air. Mental and emotional freedom is what you choose to seize of it. I decided to stop being so uptight and worried, and am just going with the flow. Party, date, hang out after work and just see what happens. You can always find something cool and laid back to do, so long as you have the crew who is down to chill and party with you.
You nailed it lol
Yes you nailed it lol
Stop being so accurate....

The sad truth. We can never go back, but the music lives on as a microcosm of what once was, taunting us as much as comforting us. Gosh, I miss the nineties.
compared to this music today's music is trash
I’m constantly ruminating on these kinda thoughts. You like to think the world progresses each year that goes by. But. I’m really not sure.
No taunt, just resignation.
"And of course you can't become, what you say you would've done."
Lyrics in this song are underappreciated.
I read that when that part was on... but good point. 👍
It's:
"And of course you can't become, if you only say what you would've done."
You're right that it's a good line. I wonder if you actually know why tho..
jk 90s love peace out X
That and "and I'm not only among, but I invite who I want to come." Easier said than done, but still ...

"My sticky paws were into making straws out of big fat slurpy treats, incredible eight foot heap" Yes, whoever wrote these lyrics is Shakespeare reborn
We need a 90s music festival with bands like this. Brings back so many memories
Yes. We need a festival with these guys and about 5 other 90s bands. Jesus, I'd go every time and I bet a lot of people would love it.
Thank goodness we can create lists of our favourites from any decade, on here. I’m an 70s & 80s kid, who just loves music. Getting a few lists going, from the 60s onwards. Must say 70s, 80s, and 90s lists are filling up, thanks to TH-cam.

Hey y'all!!! First of all, born in '81. Second, I love and agree with all your comments! I think I may have commented here a few years back, but I think I nailed why this song gets to us... The beginning beat, with the muted echo, the soothing voice of the girl, and the typical voice of the young guy are what you'd hear at the beach or social gatherings back in the day... To this day, I've never heard another song that "feels" like summer more than this!!!!
This song is pure summer ... I miss my best friend ... May you rest in peace bro., this is for the great memories ...

Back when I was a teenager I used to think the 90s were whack, and the 80s were cooler. Now in my 30s and with the world as dark and crazy as it is. I'm beginning to appreciate how amazingly blissful the 90s truly was.
The 80s were still cooler!

90s and first few years of 2000s were prime. The pinnacle. iPhone brought it all down... and what is apple's logo?.... and what did the bible say about eating from the tree of knowledge?
I was literally saying this same thing as I ran across your comment.
Will it ever be the same again?
Hated this song when it came on in the 90s. Now, it’s a direct path back to another decade that I loved so much.
Yeah, this was overplayed on the radio at the time and I preferred their rock grunge sound in their song Candypop better, but now this song is pure nostalgia and warm sunshine :)
Same here
I hated this song when it came out. It has somehow very surprisingly aged very well.
@@JR-vr2pz I think part of it is because so much music now is layers deep in irony and self-awareness, and this is just straight up earnest about itself.
Plus, the melody and beat aren't too distinctly "90's", so it has a little timeless quality
