    I was officially diagnosed with Fibro 9 years ago (but had it much longer, obviously). My doctors were pushing me to try yoga because I'm pretty intense/anxious, and the "gentle exercise" is basically perfect for us Fibro Folks, but I was sooooo resistant (idk why -- I just was! It's like when people constantly say, to us, "Have you tried tumeric?" I just want to say, "Stfu already about the stupid tumeric!"). I was at my wit's end with stress/pain/ptsd/insomnia last Fall, and stumbled upon Joelle's TH-cam channel. I thought, "Why not? I can't feel any worse than I do right now." I did the 20 minute Yin Yoga for Fibromyalgia, and I felt great. Pain was better, sleep was better, anxiety better. It was so great, I'm rather addicted to the healthy high of it. And now, I'm one of those "Yoga Cliche'" people, and trying not to be super annoying about it, like the Tumeric People, lol. Thank you Joelle.

    Hi Joelle really love your yoga lessons. Can you help please? I purchased your 7 day fibromyalgia course with Urdemy which I understood was mine forever. I tried to log in the other day and I can no longer find the link to take me into it . Help please?

      @YogawithJoelle  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Tony, so glad you're enjoying the lessons. You will indeed have lifetime access to the 7-day course on Udemy once you've purchased it, but I've just checked and I don't see your name in the list of students, so it seems the enrollment did not go through correctly. Did you receive an email confirmation from Udemy? If not, I suggest you try again, here's a special discount for you: www.udemy.com/course/yoga-for-fibromyalgia/?couponCode=YT-DISCOUNT Look forward to seeing you on the course, well done for making the commitment to yourself!

      Hi Joelle I paid through PayPal with Udemy and they took my money, it was in my name of Jennifer Wood. This login name is my husband as he signed in to YOU TUBE first so it’s his name that shows up here. Could you check my name please. I’m sorry to trouble you but it’s really bothering me .

    • @YogawithJoelle
      @YogawithJoelle  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Jennifer, it's no trouble at all - that explains it! I do see your name in the list of students and that you've completed 30% of the course already, so if I understand correctly you were able to access it previously and now you can't? Once you sign in to Udemy, you should see something called either "my learning" or "my courses" towards the top right of your screen, which is where all your purchased courses should show up. If you really still can't find it even after making sure you're logged in successfully, I would suggest contacting Udemy directly as there unfortunately isn't anything I can do on my side. I hope that helps!

    I began suffering with fatigue and pain in my teens. At first, I thought when people would say they are tired, that meant they felt pain, because I felt terrible flu-like body aches whenever I was tired. I remember the acute embarrassment I felt when I realized tired was just that, fatigue, not pain. After the birth of my two children, my pain has steadily become worse. I am 38 now and last night was a bad night. I can’t sleep without a pain pill, and last night I felt too poorly to get out of bed to get one, so I just waited to drift off to sleep. I refuse to stop living my life because of my pain, and so I tend to push myself past my limit and end up suffering for it later on. I wonder what my life will look like into my forties and if I will become disabled in the future. I don’t live my life defined by the pain, and many people are very surprised when they find out I am in constant pain. Thank you for your videos! 🙏🏽❤️ healing to everyone reading this.

      I've been diagnosed with fibromyalgia about 5-6 months ago. Before my diagnosis and the medical treatment I've been in hell. Literally hell. Couldn't move without moaning in pain, Standing up without crying, etc. Even putting on clothes was as painful as someone punching me in the arm.
      Since then I'm taking a lot of medication and slowly changing my diet. Its not easy, but I can tell the difference if eat something "bad" for me. So like wheat, pork, dairy products.
      Now im finally at the point where I can start doing some sort of sports, which is why I found your channel 😊
      I want my life back and pick up my studies to become an elementary school teacher:) (yes im only 23^^)
      So yeah, I hope with the help of your videos, I might get my life back to the point of enjoying it a little more. 😊💜

    I have fibromyalgia I was recently diagnosed, I realised I’ve had it for about 10 years. I live in Melb Australia, I’m holidaying in QLD a warmer climate, my pain has halved since arriving, I couldn’t believe it. Then today we had a weather change it rained and cooled down and my pain returned somewhat 🤷‍♀️ Out come for me is, a warm climate. I’m staying with my son and he’s wife, I’ll stay till they kick me out, haha 😂

    I've been living with fibro for about 10 years now and it's *still* emotional for me when I see videos like this. I depend on yoga (yin, hatha, and slow flow) and pilates to deal with muscle spasms and energy issues. Seeing another yogi who deals with similar things is inspiring.
    I also want to be certified as a yoga teacher! I'm worried about the requirements, though-one studio I used to visit mentioned needing to do a handstand in the middle of the room. So much of my pain is in my shoulder area that I don't think my upper body strength will ever be good enough to do that. Is there hope for me? I want to be a certified yoga therapist for people with chronic illnesses like me, so I'm not looking to do the advanced asanas, anyway.
    I love this channel! Please do some more videos like this-it's so nice to hear others' experiences. Makes me feel less alone 💖

    • @YogawithJoelle
      @YogawithJoelle  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thank you so much for sharing! And that's wonderful you want to be a yoga teacher! I've never heard of a studio requiring a handstand in order to teach - that sounds ridiculous to me when everybody's practice is different. What does a handstand have to do with anything?? I don't personally tend to teach advanced asanas because that isn't my niche, and most teachers I know don't either. It's all about finding what you enjoy and where you think you could add the most value to your students, and it sounds like you would have a lot to add for students with chronic illnesses! There are so many great yoga teacher training programs, both online and in studios, that I don't see any reason to go for one that doesn't resonate with you. I would suggest you find a more approachable 200-hour course that works for your pace (and doesn't have any funny requirements like that!) Later on, you can always add on additional modules in yin, restorative, or other areas that interest you. That's what I've done! (Oh and P.S. When I did my 200-hour training, I couldn't even do a headstand yet. So don't listen to them 😉)

    I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia 13 years ago and at first it wasn’t that bad but during my fourth pregnancy it skyrocketed with pain and it has not let up . I know that I need to exercise but how to when I hurts 80 to 90 percent of the time . I been on several different medications and still had not find any relief at all . I want to try yoga. Right now the slight movement brings pain so how can i do this ?

    • @YogawithJoelle
      @YogawithJoelle  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      These are all good questions Sonya! In the beginning as we get started, the main objective is to start understanding which stretches and exercises will help US feel better, and that can definitely look a little different for every person! I've got several fibromyalgia videos on TH-cam, and a full 28-day program (this one: tinyurl.com/mj2jmpky ) that are set up to help you do just that. You might like to try my most recent fibromyalgia practice to see how it feels for you and start bit by bit identifying what moves are right for YOU: th-cam.com/video/Xlc_NDaeEbo/w-d-xo.html I hope that can help give you some hope as you get started!

    I (20y) got diagnosed earlier this year, but there is a possibility I have Hypermobile EDS. My pain has been such a struggle for me the past year, and I have a very active job in food service. It’s very fast paced so it’s hard to control my movements enough to prevent more pain. But these stretches really release tension that I’ve probably been holding for years! I really appreciate all of your helpful videos!! 🫶
