Thanks for Sharing this +BattletekHD Gaming I do have a question though. You were able to move everything into an 8GB harddrive and transfer it. Did you just unbox this alpha and it's mostly new so there's not a lot of data on it? What if I've had the alpha for over a year now and want to transfer all my stuff to a SSD? Do I need a larger flashdrive? What are the capabilities of Alienware respawn when it comes to backing up all my stuff? Thanks :)
would this be the same method for the laptops aswell as i own the r2 and just bought a m.2 ssd i also want to upgrade and thanks good video very clear tut
No, Sorry The games won't be backed up on the USB stick. What you'll have to do is use steam backup utility to backup your installed Steam games to an external hard drive. That way you can reinstall them without the need of the internet.
Got another question - I've got Windows 10 and have heard that Respawn doesn't work very well with it. Is Respawn still the program I should use or should I just use Dell Backup & Recovery? The two are pretty much the same apparently. Cheers.
You can also try using Paragon Backup & Recovery (free) to just create an image of the entire drive then use that image to restore to a new drive. That way you don't have to reinstall anything.
Do you know if you currently have Windows 10 installed and you swap the drives will the new drive be formatted with Windows 10 during the resplendent setup or do you have to reinstall 10?
+hellzilla Also be sure to create a system image & not a system restore disk. The image will take a snapshot of your PC in it's current state so that you can restore it to that state at anytime, Now in doing this you will cause your restore file size to increase greater than the 8GB so use an external hard drive if you got one.
OK my fiance bought a alpha but the person she bought it from wiped all the alienware drivers she can't use the ui she use alienfx alienrespawn is not in there now I have a upgraded i3 3Tb and 16gb of ram can I do this process from my alienware and use it on hers?

Nice! I'm actually looking to put a 850 pro in my alpha, Dragon Ages' load times take way to long.
So when upgrading to the ssd if you've got games already on the old hard drive do they also get saved on the USB stick as well ? Thanks, great video.

+hellzilla Respawn* damn you autocorrect!
+hellzilla anything on the drive during the time of the creation of the recovery drive will be transferred to the new drive.

+BattletekHD Gaming here's the thing it candles out windows
to upgrade alpha from i3 to i5, will any i5 cpu with 1150 socket will do
Abdul Karim Pretty much, look at the i5 4590.
Any over heating or any other issues because of higher watts
I thinh 4590 is 84w
Abdul Karim I think that the PSU will limit the CPU load. But it should work.
Thanks
