Been running mine at +135/750 ran the Firestrike benchmarks over and over making sure there were no artifacts/flickers. Also did an entire playthrough of Mad Max with everything maxed out and had zero issues. If you're looking to push the core clock speed further you can with NVFLASH.

New to this alpha thing I needed this bruh
+m cooper glad I could be of help! if you have any other questions just let me know.
Very new to PC Gaming, actually, I will get my Alpha on Christmas mast likely, what does it mean to Overclock your GPU? What difference does it make?
It means you're pushing a little more performance out of it. makes it a little faster than what it already is. you can get pretty good gains in certain games while others don't gain much.
ATW Tech Oh OK, thanks for telling me!
+ATW Tech what about for the i7 model does that need overclocking or not?, and will I need msi afterburner
+ATW Tech are these setting for the msi afterburner good for all new games on the i7 model for,the Alienware alpha
+ATW Tech for the memory overlock what is the best setting for it so it is smooth and not crash
I run a stable +135 on the core and +675 on the memory clock
MSI Afterburner drops my framerate..
Hey is there way to fix system after mass with Core Voltage [mV] and power limit now my system will not bootup.
After upgrading my Alienware Alpha to windows 10 I couldn't switch to console mode, was wondering if you had the same problem. Don't get me wrong, I have never used the console mode, I just wanted to try it out because I heard news about games running better while in console mode. (Not that games run bad or anything)
You probably selected to do a clean install and that wipes everything off of your PC and upgrades to Windows 10. You should be able to redownload it off of Dell's site.
Ah, thanks.
that was the first thing i deleted off mine lol
but mines still windows 8.1 (wont let windows 10 download on it)
also my HDMI in stopped working same with the AWC for the lights
dell sent me an 8GB flash drive with window 8.1 to install on it but when i try it ask for the windows key which on windows 8-10 the keys in the bios
I have the Alienware alpha with the I5 core so my question is if I overclock the cup speed, will that make the ghz faster?
you can only overclock the GPU. it wont affect the CPU.
+ATW Tech ok is the GPU the graphics processor? That would still make gaming faster though right?
Bryant Villeponteau correct
I have the alienware alpha gtx 960 can I use these settings for msi afterburner or no?
+Sheet Head yes
i have a alienware alpha i3 im new to the pc gaming and i just got arma and people say it runs better with a better cpu so i was wondering if i overclocked my cpu would help.me play it at higher graphics and better frames please help
On heavy demanding games
Is there a way to um like make the fans a little more quit while playing metro and high demanding games like that? Without the risk of it overheating. Like maybe a fan upgrade or external fan I can buy to keep it at lower temps?
WhiteOutWolf no, if the computer gets hot during a game, the dan will speed up for better airflow. but will.makw it louder. so no, you can't or you might mess up you pc.
can i OC +135 +300 and leave it forever? or do i have to do that everytime i run games?
you can set it to boot when Windows starts and it should save the settings. It will run when you open a game.
what if you have an i7? could you raise it more? or is that basically the point you wanna keep it at .?
+WarPath 808 You can't overclock the CPU - the t series is made to stay at a constant speed. Only the GPU is able to be overclocked.
so with MSI is it possible to just do the GPU?
Yep, MSI is only the GPU
oh ok,cuz i tried it out last night, used the same settings you did on your video, and it looked allot smoother and only downside was,it started getting hot, like 79-80c and the fan was going nuts,so i reset the settings and applied, the system still ran better but no loud fan or gpu temp climbs
+WarPath 808 79 to 80 is fine you just dont want to go too much further. fan noises is weird but glad it's fixed.
I have your same alpha but with i5-4570s, do you know how to overclock the same gpu but i5-4570s instead?
overclocking the GPU is separate from the CPU. GPU it's all the same but no CPU is overclockable. I recommend upgrading to an i3-4170 because it runs at 3.7ghz and doesn't get throttled.
+ATW Tech oh ok, so for the gpu I just follow your video for +135 +300? Also, how long should I keep it overclocked, only when playing or can it always be on?
I have the same Alpha as you and overclocked it to +135 +600. I even tried +135 +700, but the fans are getting too loud in my opinion. The temperature of the gpu is locked to 80*C so you will not be able to damage it with overclocking.
The only problem is that if you go over 80*C and the Alpha limits it, your GPU usage will drop to 25%. Therefore you could see some frame rape in your games.
What you also could do is only overclocking the core clock, whis will give you 5-10 more fps, and the fans will be very quiet.
Please respond! If I do this will it voild warranty?? Thx boss
No you won't. just don't over do it and keep it low.
How much of a FPS boost does it give you if you overclock GPU
I'd say anywhere from 5-10 FPS.
does this work with all of the alpha configurations?
yes
Yo how do you make it so that you start in windows 10 instead of the alpha UI.I have legit been trying to do this for like 10 hours and I am tilting so hard.
Do you want to remove the alpha ui all together?
+UnderDogg09 if so Google how to remove the alpha ui
It's should be a startup thing, what you want to do is locate your windows startup folder and the Ui program should be in there. Remove it from the folder or disable it via the control panel
delete alpha ui then reboot
go into user accounts and delete all other accounts (besides yours and if someone else has an account on it)
Force it to where you have to enter a password before you pull the pc up this worked for me and I still have the alpha ui installed
Mine Run at 79 and 80 max temps. Is that Right
+Shaun Allen Same here, it touches 80-81C with +135/495. Without the OC it goes up to 79. Tried changing the paste, AS5, MX4, Thermal Grizzly, no difference in temps..
Omg this help so much lol
I increased my Fps by 10
Yay
Plus I put a bag of ice on it lol
why are my numbers in the thousands but your have +num
Dan Madden I know this was 8 months ago, but if I may tell you anyways. Yours shows thousands, while his shoes +135 because his is a GTX Nvidia card, while you probably have an AMD GPU. So let's say your Card is factory of 2500 and his Nvidia is 2500, he does +100 so that makes him now run 2600, for your AMD to get the same settings, you'll want to set it at 2600, which makes you +100 over.
Noice
It's not equivalent to 750ti that's false, my friend has Alienware alpha and plays gta 5 at 50fps on LOWEST settings, where as 750ti plays it on high settings (no AA) 60fps. There is s difference there clearly false it's not equivalent to 750ti
People with an Alpha play GTA V on high settings at 60FPS. What model does he have? The 860M is very close to a 750 ti and a little better when overclocked.
+ATW Tech really, he has the i3 version but has upgraded the ram.
+BJH yes your right, it does require a good CPU. But the 860m used in the alpha is overclocked a lot so that's how it is equivalent to 750ti
+BJH look at the gtx 860m gets 1588 score and the 750ti gets around 3000 750ti is much better. (I looked up multiple comparisons)
wtf? I have the i5 alpha and average 60fps on highest settings
if it stays around 80 to 82 degrees will it be ok
during gaming or during stress test? I would say stress test is okay, but in gaming is a bit too hot.
how do you change the fps
i know this is 2 years later, but this video is claled overclocking, you may only get about 10fps higher
