Great that they are putting so much time and effort into their machines, I'm happy to see Lenovo doing what they do... But the price! Here in Denmark in terms of price it starts at about 1.7 modern gaming spec desktop computers, and the top of the line bells and whistles version costs 2.5 gaming desktop computers.

I'm glad they kept the fingerprint reader and glass trackpad, since those were removed from the regular Legion Pro 7 models this year (presumably to reduce costs from RTX 40 series and maybe provide a higher-tier Legion 9 model later). Unfortunately where I am in the US we won't be getting the 100% DCI-P3 display model in this video, which is a real shame because none of the other displays are as competitive with what's on offer from the likes of Asus ROG right now. I'm also definitely looking forward to the AMD version; hopefully you guys can get your hands on one of those down the line.

I think in general laptop manufacturers are straying away from the "gamer" aesthetic, because many customers generally don't buy gaming laptops *only* for gaming but also for school/work/productivity. College students or employees don't want to have to carry around a flashy RGB "gamer" machine to class or to a meeting, they want something more stealthy that doesn't make them look unprofessional.

I'm a big fan of the Lenovo Legion series and especially the Slim 7 models. I have the Slim 7 Gen 6 (IIRC) with a 5800h, RTX3060, 500gb NVME and 1440p 165hz IPS - I upgraded to 24gb of 3200 RAM and added a 1tb NVME, and frankly it's been great, with very few complaints. Battery life could still be better - one day we'll get something like this machine that can stretch out 10-12 hours of battery, and it would be nice to have more definitive control over CPU clocks/TDP and whether to use the iGPU or dGPU, in Lenovo software. But the screen and build quality and power stuffed into a tiny chassis are unmatched at the prices these drop to eventually.

I opted for the i7 and 3060 variant, and even after a year of use, it still runs as smoothly and efficiently as the day I first opened it. The thing that I liked most is that unlike other gaming laptops, it doesn't have any unnecessary and cringy RGB lighting on the exterior.
One major flaw of this laptop is its loud fans, which can become quite noisy even on the balance settings, let alone on the highest fan setting, making it inconvenient to use in quiet environments.

I actually have last year's model of this laptop with an i7, 3060, 16gb RAM and a matte 1080p screen and it has been an absolute pleasure to use since I got it. It's much lighter than my previous powerhouse laptop which only had a 1050 lol. The battery life could be better of course, but they give a few power options so I put mine on Hybrid-Auto mode, only uses the GPU when plugged in to maximize battery and that made it pretty decent. The ONLY complaint I have is the headphone jack being on the right side, which I saw in the video they changed with this year's model, and I just got very jealous lmao.

I don't understand why Lenovo still isn't offering a 2-in-1 convertible option in the Legion line-up! It'd be best to make it only in the 14 inch versions IMO.
As of now only ASUS ROG flow X13 is a proper high performance 2 in 1 laptop with a dGPU, but it's 2023 and we NEED more options in the "2 in 1 high performance laptop" segment!!
(for clarity, I mean a 2 in 1 touchscreen laptop with dedicated GPU that can be rotated 360° amd be used as a tablet too)
    P. S. I'd need that for engineering. Productivity + dGPU for solidworks/CAD would've been a killer conbo!

I do often see that 'switching the panel directly to the dGPU' on laptops that can do it, results in missing functionality (like HDR or most importantly, variable refreshrate). On a machine with a rtx3050ti 35watt (lowest of the 3000 series basically) I see none to very little performance difference, but having VRR between 48 and 120 makes all the difference in how it feels!.
(And my laptop is wired in such a way that one of the USB-C ports is always connected to the dGPU, and the other always to the onboard graphics. If you know this, it helps when you connected an external display directly to the dGPU). But for the laptop panel itself, I always prefer to let it go through the intel-xe graphics. It makes all the difference for battery life if you don't game (Without having to restart) and as I said, VRR makes all the difference if it doesn't work on your dGPU (it often does not because of the LVDS connector I guess).
