lenovo is pushing this hard - it's got to be crap
and it's expensive AF - for decades old LCD tech. You can get bright OLEDs in most laptops now, and for this price I'd expect OLED!
also it's HDMI 2.1 TMDS - the FAKE HDMI 2.1 (rebranded 2.0). FRL is the full spec 4K120Hz HDMI 2.1

Numpads are basically a necessity for languages that use the number row on the QWERTY primarily for diacritics or special characters, I myself couldn't work without it. I came from a Lenovo Yoga X1 4th gen that retailed for 28k SEK, to the Carbon Slim 7 that with a discount only cost me 12k SEK. And yes it is plastic, yes it feels like a toy, but it ticks all my boxes for a travel laptop.

Almost all aluminium gets recycled in the end as it's a very expensive and intense precedure to remove the oxygen bonds and make it usable
I don't know too much about it, but I got the fact about the aluminium being recycled from the owner of an aluminium foundry, so it's probably true, but the stuff about the refining of aluminium is just something I googled quickly.

This is far from the first "Yoga" branded notebook that isn't a convertible, although it is interesting that it forgoes the "Yoga Slim" name.

Loved the review, Alex. Just as a side note, the links at the top DO take you to the Lenovo site, and even tease the YOGA 9I, but the first goes to the same as the second, and there is no 9I available on site (just yet, I imagine). Great laptop for just about anything graphics intensive, but the 16" lends itself more towards drafting and 3D CAD with the integrated numpad. Because of the addressing of a keyboard with a numpad vs one without, the more robust software titles are able to incorporate more functionality via the numpad, streamlining their process trees. Overall, I do look forward to this offering becoming available, although I would like to see a comparison of what the 9I compares to a similarly kitted out Framework, as it sounds like there are some exciting options becoming available for it as well.

My first laptop was the Lenovo Yoga Pro 2, which I chose specifically over the comparable Sony Vaio because the keyboard is better, and I am still loyal to Lenovo because of their keyboards, even though that model was flawed because of the RGBW display that had terrible yellow reproduction that was never fully fixed. After it died after five years, I got the (European) Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 - not a convertible - and I love it. I put it in my camera bag too tight and the chassis bowed a little and keys on the very left had been a bit sticky, but it's not too bad, and it's my fault and I could get replacement parts because it's Lenovo. So, I'm their loyal customer.

I've been using a 14" Yoga 9i and it is great but I really want a bigger screen. The 75 Whr battery in the 16 is extremely disappointing though and might be a deal breaker :( I know we aren't going to see x86 architecture with battery life that can compete with arm (macbook 16 easily gets over 18 hours), but 12+ hours should be achievable. Unfortunately with the 75 Whr in this thing, I'd only expect maybe 8 if you are being nice to it. Just isn't enough IMO, you need the laptop to be able to get through an entire business day with room to spare. So sad, cause they could've easily fit more battery in there. I'd give up the 2nd ssd slot for more battery personally.

Fwiw Lenovo didn't invent convertible laptops with the Yoga by any stretch. They've existed since the 90s.

At 2'33" the 16" strangely appears NOT to have hdmi 2.1, but 1.4, contrary to what is stated here. Almost bought it, but deleted it from my cart, because that is a dealbreaker for me. Yet almost no one talks about it in the reviews. They even flat-out give out wrong info.

14:26, if it is an AMD laptop, it can last longer , so a small battery is enough to gave extra space for upgradable ram.

Thank you, I highly appreciate comparing both of them together. Still thinking of P1 Gen5 though...Not sure which of them is better build quality. My wife is dropping laptop frequently...Kids are jumping/leaning on it. We have a 10y old Samsung Ativ Book 7 730U (NP730U3E-X01CZ), bought 06/2013. Still working, but somehow dying, not being able to start from time to time. The only thing we had to replace for the 3rd time was the charging adapter, but Samsung Laptops are not sold anymore in Czech Republic, therefore looking for a replacement.

best unboxing ever. this is how unboxing videos should be. as fast as possible. none of this ridiculous "admiring the packaging" or being careful to not damage anything. I mean if you break something while you're unboxing it, whose fault is it really? I say it's the manufacturer and not the unboxing engineer

Yogo dont mean convertible. Since years its a „normal“ and „convertible“ option. The benefit of the non convertible on older models is the better display (no touch).

Lacking a numpad is not so bad as long as the screen is 16:10 or 3:2. And besides, no numpad usually means more room for a portable scanner in the laptop bag due to the laptop being smaller
Been using an ideapad flex 5 alongside a programmable Huion Mini KeyDial and an epson ES-50 scanner for work

I know it's sponsored, but it feels like Alex is being verrryyy generous. Make it a fluff piece, or don't fluff and tell it like it is. I like Alex and care about his actual opinions, so I want either consistency with his other laptop videos or have the video be presented differently so it doesn't resemble other "mini-review but not a review" videos. I could be imagining things though

And here i was in 2006 with my convertible IBM Thinkpad X60 Tablet not know the technically inferior convertible would take another 7 years to come to fruition.
I'd go on to collect 6 more swivel convertible before the first flip convertible came to market
I still have most of them, though i sold my fujitsus and my Thinkpad X220, though that was my favorite for its combination extended battery+grip for drawing/one handed operation

My experience with the Lenovo brand has frankly been horrible. I got a Yoga 914ITL5 (model name), with this laptop I experienced random WIFI and Bluetooth blackouts where I would have to completely restart the system for it to detect the WIFI/Bluetooth card. Not mention random crashing where it would stop detecting the sdd randomly then it would be super prone to any type of movement crashing if it was even picked up or turned into a convertible form what makes this worse is that this happened for a couple a days then wouldn't occur for months afterwards then the issue would appear again. This issue would boot up the computer into the bios not detecting the sdd then I would have to leave it for a bit then restart it for it to work. Not mention I experienced the same thing across 2 other different laptops of the same type.
