We also know that controls on the Deck are amazing even for PC games which don't support controllers (unlike "FPS mode"). That's what learning experience means in this context.
I personally don't have many issues with the track pad but I always use the touchscreen for everything. Also integer scaling is awesome on this device. It's not officially supported but there's a easy regedit fix to enable it in the amd control panel and it works great. It looks really sharp compared to rsr, perfect for emulation
That's great, to hear there's an unofficial workaround. I kept hearing that Lenovo would have to get AMD to make the Legion Go, the first integer scaling non desktop, which sounded like a non starter
Linus was obviously being inconvenienced with this review! Just turn the sensitivity up on the track pad and you don't have to paw at it like you want to be somewhere else. Just like every other pc! p.s there was nothing from 'shortcircuit' that gave anybody with a legion go any actually help apart from advertising the device! ONE BIG NEGATIVE FROM ME!
Who would’ve thought in 2010-2020 that Lenovo of all companies would make a portable gaming device! 🤯 and they came out swinging hard!! Incredible story from a company that has focused on enterprise machines for most if not all of their existence!
I still remember my uncle having his Lenovo work laptop with that red rubber nub for the mouse back in '03 and him playing the Star Wars Dark Forces/Jedi Knight games on that machine lol.
I mean, the Lenovo legion gaming laptops are among the best designed gaming laptops, especially their cooling and Lenovo were among the first manufacturers to adopt the phase change pads for their laptops which are superior in almost every way to thermal paste.
I picked up the Ally and I absolutely love this space now. All these early devices have some notable flaws or omissions. Although in day to day use the only thing that ever gave me some pain was the custom software. Thankfully Asus has actually been hard at work fixing and upgrading that software every month or so since I picked it up. It's hasn't given me any noticeable annoyance in months. Keep these little handhelds coming, give nintendo a reason to sweat a bit. Maybe they'll actually feel the need to do better.
No way dude. Nintendo is always too high from huffing their own farts to base any of their decisions on their competition. Let's face it, the Switch is outdated. It was impressive at launch and had some really good ideas, but $300 for a switch OLED, when you can get the base Steam Deck for $400 and emulate all of the Switch games you want. It should be a no-brainer but so many Nintendo fans basically worship them that they'll buy anything they sell. I love Nintendo's IPs and they do design games around gameplay instead of graphics and story (unlike most AAA devs) and I love that about them. Games should be centered around gameplay, but I digress. I also hope these "Switch Killers" light a fire under Nintendo's ass and they start making some better decisions instead of just relying on their die-hard fan boys to buy everything that has a tri-force logo on it. I'm pumped that the handheld PC market is finally kicking off. Can't wait to see what will be around in a few more years.
I got mine about a week ago. As someone who travels for work, I love it. Takes some getting used to, but even legion space becomes simple once you use it.
@@Yirgamalabar after some research it only has 2 usbc ports (which is also used for charging) so if you want to add a keyboard and mouse it’s probably best to have them Bluetooth compatible or else you’re gonna need adapters and you won’t have enough ports lol
Lenovo has been pretty open and direct with the community. Their software is a big pain point but they're already working on it. Unfortunately, these things are held together by and operate off of software black magic so it's pretty obvious when there are short-comings. I think it's a step in the right direction as far as the hardware goes though. Interesting times for sure.
I really wish Valve would release an installable version for all these hand helds that worked instead of having to rely on this 3rd party software junk. These hardware vendors aren't software designers and it shows. Having a shared OS among all these would be game changing.
and they should do it anyway, and its not unknown territory for them. they were going to do it years ago with the steam machines they promised the world and manufactures were left holding the bag on.
Allegedly Steam OS will come, but for obvious reasons, it's not been their priority. I heard Windows has a few changes coming that'll help a bit in these handhelds in a techlinked
I've had a Z1 Extreme ROG Ally since launch, and even though I've had to deal with a few serious technical headaches, I've come to enjoy having and using it more and more as time goes on. ASUS has also added some really sweet software features post-launch, such as a new 900p display mode, AMD's Hyper-X driver upscaling/processing technology, and just this week, full gyroscope control support and manually toggle-able CPU boost right from Armory Crate. The Legion GO looks like it has a lot of promise moving forward and it seems like a genuinely very cool piece of kit, but in its current state there's no reason for me to switch from the Ally even if I could afford it. It is very cool to see how much competition we're getting in the handheld PC space though, and so far it's led to some pretty great offerings. I'll definitely be watching the GO to see what kind of software support Lenovo gives it.
Yeah Asus's support for the Ally has been really good, it gets lots of meaningful updates. I have one too and its been a fantastic device, I haven't had any technical issues myself.
@@tranhoanvo9332 Not as much as I would like, which is one of the main complaints I have with it. With little indie games that are light on battery needs it's not bad, but for anything more than that it gets eaten up pretty quick. @@MrWhis-fe5hs the performance is (relatively ) identical, its the same chip but with worse software and a screen bigger than the chip can drive. Weird choice, not really an "upgrade" in any sense of the word.
Not mentioned in the kickstand review: you can also have the screen placed vertically with the controllers detatched for shmup play. The best of all the portables for shmups hands down
Depends on how portable, handheld. Rgb30 can be played handheld, not desktop and actually pocketable (though not the best at that in it's class, but those aren't better at shmup. )
I bought a LeGO a couple weeks ago. Hardware wise, it does alllot things right that the others do wrong. Where is goes wrong is OOB experience and the software learning curve. With Valve and Asus having months to years of user feedback, it is not surprising that Lenovo falls short on software, but also has an advantage on hardware. My two biggest gripes are all of the useless buttons that cant be mapped for gaming outside of remapping them in legion space to buttons that are already on the face...and the deadzones...I think the ALLY went through the deadzone woes, and LeGO users are right in the middle of it right now.
The ally never went through "dead zone woes" lmao. I bought a legion go and returned it yesterday, pretty much everything about the ally is better besides screen size
@@normodb it’s got a smaller, lower resolution screen, overheats then throttles, and kills SD cards…but at least the dead zones were fixed in the patch two months ago…I guess that makes it’s ‘better in every way’ LOL
@@takeastepoutside why is it being smaller a downside that's great for portability, they have fixed the sd card issue on newer models of the Ally, and the screen resolution being lower doesn't really matter what games are you gonna play at 1600p realistically on a 1650 pc handheld?
@@CJTheTokay quite a few games play well at 1600p/144. The smaller screen being more portable is debatable, but ill agree that for some narrow backpack constraints, it may be more beneficial. I was choosing between the two. I chose Lenovo, first for pricing, the detachable controllers, screen size and other stuff. The Win Mini does look excellent but the keyboard is useless for anything other than game text entry. I feel better just pairing the Legion Go with a keyboard.
I feel like now that we have powerful iGPUs, the tiny ultrabooks can make a comeback. The ~10" market is hugely undersaturated right now. I would love a little 10" clamshell with something like a 7640U. I don't even care if it's slightly thick, but the size would make it very attractive imo.
I'm actually kinda liking the look and functionality of the Lenovo Leg Go. Personally, I think the steam decks' biggest strength (besides form factor and cost of course) is the input. Besides the cost of say an Aya neo, the custom inputs it has are awesome, even as somone who mostly doesn't use it. I also am one of the few who prefers steam deck's look to everything else competing with it. It's clean and smooth, compared to the Aya or other competitors which feel jagged. The Leg kinda meets in the middle, and has the detachable controllers, and I actually kinda dig it.
My friend got one and we immediately used it for VR! I ran blade and sorcery modded flawlessly! No matter what we threw at it, it was ran at amazing framez
I am loving my Legion Go, and especially excited for the constant flow of communication from Lenovo. There is an active Discord and helpful Subreddit with people dding all sorts of stuff like upgrading the RAM to 64gb. It is such a breath of fresh air to see a manufacturer actually be involved with the community and being receptive. Can't wait to see how they improve this thing more especially with Legion Space given the mediocre state of it now.

Not to say whether or not that is the case, but ripping off the side of the handheld any time you want to use the desktop if you're not going to play games in that form factor seems less than ideal.
Look up some people who have actually used it for a while. It seems amazing honestly. Linus isn't a gamer from what I've seen and always seems to struggle with everything related to gaming.

I got the Legion Go just about a week ago and man I love it! I would like to see Linus take a second look at the Go especially with all the updates it's gotten and the big Legion Space update that came out today!
I recently bought a legeon go and returned it after 2 days. My biggest issue was the controllers. They are shaped in a way that was extremely uncomfortable for me. The corners dig into your palm, to the point that I had to stop playing every 20-30 minutes to stretch/rub my hands. I returned it and got a Steam Deck Oled. I'm very happy with the choice so far.
Really? You must be a clencher lol. I haven't held any other handheld besides a Switch, and this is 1000x better. It's so comfortable, and I can't even picture what kind of digging in you're referring to. I specifically loved the curvature of the grips and how it form fits to my hands so well.
Steam Deck will only play games supported by Linux so no call of duty and many more online multiplayer games. I'm thinking to do the opposite and trade my steam deck for this or Rog Ally. Steam Deck to limited to Steam only games and even then they have to be verified for the deck. Good for emulation and indie games that would run on a mobile phone though. Also anything AAA I've tried play on the deck lags after about an hour in.
This thing is a beast, you just gotta understand how to use it. I am either running native 1600P games, Moonlight streaming from a 4K computer or 800P with Integer Scaling otherwise for harder games. Lots of software updates are on the way, they do a weekly roadmap update.
This is a contender to replace my old Lenovo gaming laptop. I was shopping for a new gaming laptop, but I think the portability of a handheld may be even better. It's either going to be this, Steam Deck OLED, or another laptop. Decisions, decisions.
Just get the Steam Deck OLED. The performance isn’t as great but it is beyond the threshold of good enough. Not to mention it’s better at lower power which is far more important. These other devices peak at 18 watts where the Steam Deck is around 11. That makes a huge difference and the device is actually usable untethered. It makes the right compromises in the correct areas. And the software experience is by far the best.
I’ve had mine for a week now and I love it. The Lenovo software strikes a decent balance between taking over Windows and still allowing you to do normal Windows things. If you’re a current or old PC gamer then updating it out of the box is just like any other day, but if you’re more of a console person that isn’t used to tinkering then there’s going to be a learning curve. My biggest complaint is the speakers. They need to be capable of about 25% more volume. Also worth mentioning there’s a beta firmware/driver in the pipeline that adds quite a bit of performance. Lenovo is very active with polishing things and making this device the best that it can be… for now at least lol.
This must be a breeze fighting that urge compared to the recent Portal video 🤷🏻♂️ imagine trying to react positive to that garbage. Linus lost all credibility with that one
They've massively improved the software. I was about to turf this thing 6 months ago but it's a much better experience overall with this unit and I actually find it more comfortable to use over long periods than the steam deck (which always gave me day to day wrist soreness). It's definitely worth a revisit. I'm really happy with the emu performance too, combined with the fact it runs windows 10 natively just makes it super versatile. I just wish there was a built in speaker upgrade option!
i think the trackpad issues he had are his own my own model was smooth didnt have that palm rejection issue. and an update dropped that added a much better quick menu then he experienced was not janky more smooth and more like armoury crate with the shortcuts.
I LOVE my Legion Go! It took me a minute to find the scroll wheel on the back of the right controller. You also hold the track pad down to right click.
Exactly! I was like, why do you use it like that? It's a handheld. Use the trackpad with your thumb while handheld. I have never encountered one problem with it since lunch.
Map the left and right click on the back buttons, that way you can stay on the trackpad with your thumb and have haptic buttons for your mouse clicks. You'll get used to it faster than you think and it works very smoothly
I just do not understand the point in having such a high resolution display on these devices. It just seems like a performance and battery killer for no other reason than to have an impressive spec on the box
You would think that, but 1600p kind of makes sense when you realize that it's gonna be great for integer scaling from 800p since 4 pixels will make on pixel on that resolution, so it was a smart choice instead of going for a 900p screen.
@@exe_ Why not just put a native 800p screen that would draw less power and be cheaper for the consumer? Probably just using leftover unsold tablet screens in reality.

Like the "segue to our sponsor" "segue" is an italian word and stands for "follows" and "seguire" is "to follow" or like when Linus says "two additional buttons on the back ALLA steam deck" and in italian we say "questo è un po ALLA -> un'altra cosa" that is "this is pretty much the same -> other thing", just awsome :D
I was tempted to get a HTPC but got this instead. I love mine. EGUP support is a real win for me. Single cable for my attached wireless keyboard and mouse, Ethernet and power all in one cable makes this a killer HTPC that i can actually take away when I'm travelling. I mainly use touchscreen for everything and if you use the shortcut keys as intended, you don't really need to use the trackpad hardly at all. the detachable controller means no more Bluetooth paring of a wireless Xbox controller. If this device is past its best in 5-10ys time, at least i don't have to use a proprietary 'mobile' external GPU.
Yeah, the USB4 support is a game-changer. I'm genuinely shocked that Valve didn't include one with their revision of the Steam Deck (OLED). I bought the new OLED for the time being. I'm hoping the SD2 comes out with more performance and an eGPU support, then it'd have the console-like experience but with greater performance.
For me the deal breaker would be the track pad I think. And I would wanna know how hard remapping buttons is on steam cuz I remap on most of my steam deck games. Now I am jealous of all the extra buttons it has cuz like more mappable stuff lol. All in all super cool device. Oh and also the OS is kinda crap and needs work still lol
Steam input is such an incredible experience on the Deck. Even just using gyro aim and both track pads as 8 more buttons is sooo useful, not counting all the more granular options.
They aren’t the first to have top and bottom USB-C, but that's one of my Switch and Steam Deck complaints. So definitely consider that a point in this device's favor.
Guys. I am not sure why you didn’t update the firmware or drivers for your Legion Go. I didn’t have the issues you had in your vid. My device has control-based navigation, the left trigger is right click and the right trigger is left click. The right stick also moves the mouse if you want. And the trackpad works just fine, clicks and all.
They actually did update it 😂 these products are all set up by the other employees. I had this same experience as Linus and returned it after a week and bought the ally instead which is just better in every way. I will never buy a handheld without VRR it's a must have
Can you guys do a compilation comparison video of every handheld that's been tested all in 1 video to get everyone's opinions and what is the best now vs when it first came out
I really enjoy my Legion Go, but Legion Space is an absolute blight, on an otherwise great device. The first thing I do when I boot up my Go.... Wait until Legion Space loads, and then close it. I do think Linus struggled a liiiiittle too hard with the track pad and the FPS mode controller mouse. They are both more usable than shown here IMO.
You know you can set LegionSpace to not boot with windows and still have access to the quick panel right? Its under settings/general/ turn off "boot at windows startup" It will still launch if you hit the left legion button.
@@Deadly_Laser until that day...I just have my Legion GO boot straight into Steam's Big Picture mode. Since they updated it a few months back - it's like using a Steam Deck.
It's super important that you guys enable integer scaling with the AMD app. You can also change it via regex. Once I turned that on, any newer 3d games in 800p ran close to 40+ fps and felt really smooth playing. The resolution will bring the quality a few notches down but its worth it.
You might want to redo the left graph at 9:15, it shows 1h16 min = 76 min, wich should be near the middle between 60 an 90 min on your x-axis, but the bar plot goes to nearly 90 minutes. That is visually misrepresenting the data
Same, He fully reviewed the StreamDeck and SteamDeck OLED along with multiple follow up videos and full teardowns, yet we only get a lackluster review of the GO.. Example, using FPS mode in cyberpunk while driving a car. Obviously, it's not really meant for that. Why not fire up doom eternal like he does in EVERY OTHER REVIEW?! Its also interesting his review was over a month after launch and this is all we got. just minimal effort. Linus's BIAS for the deck is showing here.
Seems like a great gaming/work tablet, I like that it includes a case and mouse mode. Also "Switch clone" is fine because that makes it smaller without controllers than the Ally and Deck. I had a Win 3, jousticks broke because you can't detach them
So glad Valve introduced this value into the market so that lots of different manufacturers are gonna compete to create the best and most accessible options in time
Had the OLED and Legion go in front of me, returned the OLED. Not because it was worse just didnt fit my use case. That power bump and bigger screen as a personal importance to me.
Somehow missed this video, and the existence of the device, until just a few days ago when I was considering gifting myself a Deck or an Ally. Had the Ally in the checkout cart when I noticed the Go being recommended. Started looking at it and the display and detachable controller and 2x USB and working SD card slot all just made it worth it. I was reading about people complaining about the Legion software... but I don't really have any issues with it. Like anything new it just took a few minutes of me messing with it to understand it fully. And even then I still decided to tell it not to launch it on startup and I removed it from the taskbar. I basically can entirely forget it's there, I just use the device more as a regular Windows laptop/tablet hybrid. Just run it for whatever updates they put out but that's it. And since I just use it as a Windows device the mouse was easy enough to adapt to for navigation... but I'll admit, despite moving to PCs over 10 years ago I still prefer to play shooters with controllers. I didn't devote 90% of my waking pre-adult life playing Halo on Xbox to lose that skill forever lol.

It would be great it we had controllers without all of the extra buttons that do nothing and can’t be mapped to extra inputs. They just make the grip feel mushy.
Comes off as a very biased review to me...I've been a day 1 SD owner, day 1 Ally owner and now a day 3 (was out of stock lol) Legion Go owner and I gotta say, the LLG is the most complete handheld I've ever played. The screen is gorgeous, the ergonomics are great and the 'FPS mode' is awesome just needs a little getting used to, just like switching to a vertical mouse. But what's the most awesome thing is that I use it as the 'RTS mode' you can finally play rts games or park builders on the go with this thing. Performance is top notch and the updates are rolling out so frequently! We just received a big UI overhaul where the Ally needed 6 months to ship it into a decent state. Also the devs are very active on the subReddit and keep us up to date about everything going on behind the scene and giving inside info on what's coming next and what's gonna come out and when, they are definitely listening to the community and that's awesome! Oh yeah my micro SD cards also don't get fried lol.
I was looking at one of these before I got my Ally Z1 extreme because I've always been a fan of Lenovo as a company. Quality products.. BUT i changed my mind when I saw that it underperforms compared to the Ally. It has a higher res screen & refresh rate but you can't really take advantage of it with the hardware so kinda pointless. The ROG screen is beautiful.. makes old 360 games look real nice. If you're stuck in between ... get the Ally Z1 Extreme. These are nice with a bit more features but in my opinion they are kind of all unnessacary and not worth the extra $$. I know they both have the same z1 chip but i guess it just comes to drivers and power draw with it being able to out perform the lenovo
This a winner for me vs ROG the Ally. Thing is, I could use this for travel PC or desktop PC by removing the controllers. Lenovo do indeed have the technical engineering prowess as ASUS
Great ideas marred by terrible software I'm glad this stuff exists though. More competition in this space is never a bad idea and I can't wait to see what the "Gen 2" of these portables are like
The fps mode paired with a low weigth Bluetooth keyboard allows to use the Legion Go as a full fledge laptop and work on it like you would on any other computer once you get used to the ergonomics of the controller in mouse mode. I has been using it in place of my laptop and it has helped with my back pain given the humongous 7kg weight of my gaming laptop.
I’ve had my legion go for about a week now, I have to say I love it. I haven’t had any track pad issues, and have had two really important software updates already. Gps mode works really well in an actual gps game like apex. It really shines in a game like this because you can actually map buttons. On a non fps note, I am able to run diablo at 60 frames in balance mode and the battery has been lasting about 4 hours unplugged. If you’re thinking about buying, just do it already. The pros way outmatch the cons imo.
@@michaelammirato2913 I have been recently using it for gba and ds emulation, and I have been getting a good 4-6 hours. The balance mode is 20-25w I believe. With emulation and other low load games like Minecraft you can easily get away with using the “quiet” tdp which is like 15w
Biggest issue with me on the legion go is the fact which wasn’t mentioned on ur video is this. It’s a native portrait screen. And I’ve had this in other handhelds. With that u will have some games that either crash and won’t play at all. Or it will play but the scaling will be way off to where it’s unplayable. The ally has a native landscape screen and won’t have issues with any older or newer games. Keep this in mind becitr buying the legion. Otherwise I would’ve bought this instead of the ally hands down. But portrait screen I can’t deal with.
If this thing could run Steam OS, I'd 100% replace my Steam Deck with it. The simplicity of Steam OS is huge for me personally. There are rumors that Microsoft is working on a gaming handheld build of Windows but until that comes, I won't be ditching my Steam Deck. This device looks so awesome though. I love the detachable controllers and funky mouse mode. Definitely gonna keep my eye on Lenovo's future devices!
I THINK Valve is working on getting Steam OS to be functional on other devices. I forgot where I read that so it might not be true. But I heard that from somewhere. That would be cool if they were
I love that more competition keeps entering this space. I'm probably just going to stick with Valve's Steam Decks as I just prefer the FAR more polished software experience. Having likely about a decade lead in that department with the Steam controller, Link and Machine software development, I trust that Valve will actually continue to innovate in this space. Who knows, maybe Asus, Lenovo and others will see enough interest to justify continued software support. Like others have said, the Steam Deck isn't perfect and lacks a few features I'd love to have (USB 4 with e-GPU support, for instance). With as quickly as Valve's release of the new Steam Deck OLED though, I think it won't be very long before we will start seeing similar hardware in higher end models as well.
the Ally's software experience is very good as well, and its backed on Windows so no compatibility issues between different store fronts. Honestly its a huge win over the steam deck imo, also its about 40-50% more powerful. I had both and completely stopped using my Steam Deck when I got the Ally. Not to mention how much more smooth sub 60 FPS feels on a VRR screen.
Cause if he is rough with it and it doesn’t break then someone who is gentle with it most likely won’t break it, but if it breaks then it makes good content and a warning for others
I own a legion laptop and desktop. Laptop for almost 10 years now and this desktop for about 3 years now. Legion / Lenovo makes ok products. I think their quality control can use a lot of work and their labeled software feels lacking. With that new device I would be concerned about the quality of the GPU and storage. And also how the outside plastic / case holds up. Also with the software I hope the team makes sure to keep up with updates for the drivers as that's another issue I have been dealing with and many others with our desktops.
The software really does it for me. I don't think the ally or the legion go can compete with steam on the software yet. When I think of a portable device I think of a fully integrated software/hardware experience and if I constantly have to battle with the software to make my controls work smoothly it's going to ruin that experience for me.
I really wish companies like Asus and Lenovo would use Linux instead of Windows. Valve has done so much for gaming on Linux. Windows is sometimes awful. So many times I wanted to switch to Linux but couldn't because of gaming but now it seems like gaming on Linux can thrive.
I honestly would’ve taken a 1080p 144hz display with VRR on this thing over the 1600p 144hz one. VRR makes the game look way less stuttery when you’re getting 80-90 fps, and the z1 extreme, as much as people don’t like to admit it, is not very capable of 1600p when it comes to modern, demanding games like rdr2, call of duty, battlefield, and cyberpunk. You can expect 30-50 fps when playing at the lowest graphics settings at native resolution. I tend to use upscaling so much as that I almost never see the benefits of the super high resolution. It’s obvious it’s using a reused lenovo tablet display and one not built specifically for gaming.
Hmm. I bought an ROG Ally and I'm blown away. Legion looked insane but I'm glad I went from the deck to the Ally. Thing is a beast. Pair with some AR glasses!

I personally don't have many issues with the track pad but I always use the touchscreen for everything. Also integer scaling is awesome on this device. It's not officially supported but there's a easy regedit fix to enable it in the amd control panel and it works great. It looks really sharp compared to rsr, perfect for emulation
How do you force games to use the entire screen though
That's great, to hear there's an unofficial workaround. I kept hearing that Lenovo would have to get AMD to make the Legion Go, the first integer scaling non desktop, which sounded like a non starter
Linus was obviously being inconvenienced with this review! Just turn the sensitivity up on the track pad and you don't have to paw at it like you want to be somewhere else.
Just like every other pc!
p.s there was nothing from 'shortcircuit' that gave anybody with a legion go any actually help apart from advertising the device! ONE BIG NEGATIVE FROM ME!
Yeah integer scaling which everyone was hyping is locked behing a regedit which for basic user is a no go…
@@MrWhis-fe5hs For me just changing aspect ratio to 16:9 fixed the "entire screen" matter, of course does not look so great.
Wenn can all thank Valve for that
I mean, the Lenovo legion gaming laptops are among the best designed gaming laptops, especially their cooling and Lenovo were among the first manufacturers to adopt the phase change pads for their laptops which are superior in almost every way to thermal paste.
Can it be used for non-gaming use cases, e.g. as a tablet or as a PC if you connect a keyboard and mouse?
@@YirgamalabarI don’t have one but from other user reviews it seems very good for that. Someone compared it to an iPad.
I’m thinking of buying one for work travel. Is it a good idea to hook it up to a hotel tv?
@@Yirgamalabar after some research it only has 2 usbc ports (which is also used for charging) so if you want to add a keyboard and mouse it’s probably best to have them Bluetooth compatible or else you’re gonna need adapters and you won’t have enough ports lol
@@Yirgamalabar yup, no problem, it's basically a Win11 PC, with touch screen.
Love to see that, but then those idiot will come out and jumping up and down claiming its "MoNoPoLy"
@@Mortal_Indeed Yes because it's ok because Microsoft does it but when Valve does it it's not.
Allegedly Steam OS will come, but for obvious reasons, it's not been their priority.
I heard Windows has a few changes coming that'll help a bit in these handhelds in a techlinked
nop. valve need to focus on steam decks. if people want use non oficial. you want steam do work for shit companys
As someone who has both the ally has improved so much since launch but the legion go is still great I sold my ally because lenovo seems to really care
How is the battery life ?
@@tranhoanvo9332 Not as much as I would like, which is one of the main complaints I have with it. With little indie games that are light on battery needs it's not bad, but for anything more than that it gets eaten up pretty quick. Still, I use it docked more often than not, and when it has sufficient power it's pretty great.
The best of all the portables for shmups hands down
Yes I just tried this and it's AMAZING.
Depends on how portable, handheld. Rgb30 can be played handheld, not desktop and actually pocketable (though not the best at that in it's class, but those aren't better at shmup. )
Yeah, update all the devices and do an in depth comparison of the legion go, steamdeck OLED, and ROG ally.
Its definitely a better display on the legion, even if it doesn't fit your use case. Asus is ahead in software. Legion space is a trainwreck, while armory crate is mature.

I like the clamshell form factor from GPD. It would be cool if one of the bigger brands tried.
The gpd win mini IS KING
I definitely want to see more mini laptops than handheld
I was choosing between the two. I chose Lenovo, first for pricing, the detachable controllers, screen size and other stuff. The Win Mini does look excellent but the keyboard is useless for anything other than game text entry. I feel better just pairing the Legion Go with a keyboard.
I feel like now that we have powerful iGPUs, the tiny ultrabooks can make a comeback. The ~10" market is hugely undersaturated right now. I would love a little 10" clamshell with something like a 7640U. I don't even care if it's slightly thick, but the size would make it very attractive imo.

Be more confident, it is the same. Lenovo sued them so they can use it
I'm actually kinda liking the look and functionality of the Lenovo Leg Go.
The Steam Deck was praised for its aesthetics, I don't know why anyone would call it ugly. I think it's looks better than the Vita Slim
Can't wait to see how they improve this thing more especially with Legion Space given the mediocre state of it now.

i see that power button design they couldn't let framework use
I wonder if the fps mode would be more useful for navigating the desktop than the track pad they had so much trouble with.
Not to say whether or not that is the case, but ripping off the side of the handheld any time you want to use the desktop if you're not going to play games in that form factor seems less than ideal.

@series25a I got the 2TB from Micro Center for $799, $50 extra for 2TB pre installed way worth it!

You guys should do a video comparing all of the handheld consoles
Downsized from a desktop to this. Zero regrets. I have external GPU enclosure too.
@@HeyJes and we don't even mention undervolting directly from the bios!

I just got my Lenovo legion go and I'm enjoying it so far. 10/15/24

Linus fighting the urge to not call it garbage so the check will clear is very funny
If you use the touchpad with your thumb like you’re supposed to and don’t try to use it like a laptop, it works fine.
Exactly! I was like, why do you use it like that? It's a handheld. Use the trackpad with your thumb while handheld. I have never encountered one problem with it since lunch.
Thank you for benchmarking Small FFTs. Fourier would be a great series to play on this, at least periodically.
I want to replace my gaming laptop for this tbh
Map the left and right click on the back buttons, that way you can stay on the trackpad with your thumb and have haptic buttons for your mouse clicks. You'll get used to it faster than you think and it works very smoothly
I just do not understand the point in having such a high resolution display on these devices. It just seems like a performance and battery killer for no other reason than to have an impressive spec on the box
My guess is it can natively stream at a very high resolution and refresh rate without taxing the battery.
You would think that, but 1600p kind of makes sense when you realize that it's gonna be great for integer scaling from 800p since 4 pixels will make on pixel on that resolution, so it was a smart choice instead of going for a 900p screen.

Cemu is still a little glitchy for me. I still love my go though.

I just installed the new updates for the Legion Go. This thing is amazing!
Great ideas marred by terrible software
I'm glad this stuff exists though. More competition in this space is never a bad idea and I can't wait to see what the "Gen 2" of these portables are like
Saying "marred" is overkill. You don't even need to run/use the software aside from checking for updates for the controllers and stuff.
"It's like water but weaker" was the unexpected humor I needed today ❤
Linus should get an oscar for his acting skills when pretending not to know about theses devices
800p at this size is still a better ppi/sharpness than 1440p on a 27 inch monitor. 171 Vs 108 ppi
And even better than 4k on 32 inches (around 140)
I’ve had my legion go for about a week now, I have to say I love it. I haven’t had any track pad issues, and have had two really important software updates already. Gps mode works really well in an actual gps game like apex. It really shines in a game like this because you can actually map buttons. On a non fps note, I am able to run diablo at 60 frames in balance mode and the battery has been lasting about 4 hours unplugged. If you’re thinking about buying, just do it already. The pros way outmatch the cons imo.
That's amazing!! Do you use it for emulation? How many hours do you get? What TDP is balanced mode? Thank you for the insight.
Bought my unit about a week ago. Gotta say, its worth every penny.
had mine a few weeks now..love it..better than my steam deck
FPS mode is really good for RTS games like I love playing kenshi on this thing
I wish it had VRR.
"FPS" mode is just the old school FPS mouse/joystick combos from the early 90's. They're not bad once you get used to it.
Why are you so rough on it? It’s prolly me just being poor. I value anything above $100
Cause if he is rough with it and it doesn’t break then someone who is gentle with it most likely won’t break it, but if it breaks then it makes good content and a warning for others
I am very satisfied with the Legion. Sure, the Legion software is crappy right now, but I just use the big picture mode then
I own a legion laptop and desktop.
That FPS mode is just like any ergonomic nice you see all around office spaces around the world.
LINUX is the worst operating system. I can’t imagine actually wanting to use it for day-to-day stuff.
@@cloudGGsoh so you are just commenting weak troll garbage all over. Thanks for feeding the algorithm
Steam Deck OLED still is the best handheld :D
I hate to say it but the steam deck is rubbish.
just cant beat Valves software and Steam
Arguments on why pls?@@cloudGGs
Hmm. I bought an ROG Ally and I'm blown away. Legion looked insane but I'm glad I went from the deck to the Ally. Thing is a beast. Pair with some AR glasses!
I want the steam OLED screen; the ally form factor; and the legion detachable controls (with a better button scheme)... Too bad none is perfect.
Yh, if only rog ally has OLED and detachable controllers, it will be the best handheld for me.
The ancient romans use to shorten "LEGIO" (Legion) to "LEG" in their writings.
