Got my slim 7 few days back with amd+4060+3.2k screen+32gb+1tb & tested battery life & got 10.5hrs. The screen has some minor backlight bleed from all 4 corners compared to my previous macbook pro 13 screen but still great upgrade. Wish it had advanced Optimus like 7i but i will take 10+hrs battery life over Intel crap any day of the week especially in laptops. But omen 16 transcend is a better competitor to slim 7 & in general i guess. Especially with the miniled screen option. The only gripe is performance is not that great as thermal limited & bad keyboard, no 2nd m.2, expensive upgrade options compared to Lenovo. But for 1.7-1.8k that was way better in many aspects compared to most laptops here. How was your experience with backlight bleed on slim 7i? This was 1600p screen so not apples to apples comparison but still. Especially in almost dark room. Ofc in any sort of light it cannot be noticed.

You are confused with Acer Predator Helios Neo 16 and Predator Helios 16. They are 2 different ones. Neo16 is an all plastic build with lesser specs (eventhough the hardware specs are the same as Helios 16). Where as Helios 16 is an all aluminium build with 240Hz panel, per key LED and is a flagship model from Acer. So at the beginning you listed out that it was Neo 16 used for this test. But at the end while giving those tier ranks you mention it as Helios 16. could you clarify which one is exactly used here?
I've had an experience of owning Razer blade 15 laptop for last 2 years and 4 months. Here's how it went 1. Within 7-8 months of purchase the L key stopped working 2. Within 1year and 5-8 months, I gradually started realizing that for some reason, my laptop is deforming! I was wondering why!! 3. Just last week, I saw that a part of the back-pane of my laptop is wide open and battery is swollen, pressurizing the back-pane. I bought the laptop listening to "TH-cam influencers". Learning: You decide, make mistakes and blame yourself. DO NOT waste time here!
To my understanding, those thick bottom bezels are there to increase the length of the laptop.... which i necessary to accommodate those big fans. If not, then they will need to solder the ram etc and maybe reduce size of battery.
It's just a shame you didn't include MSI in the comparative. MSI Vector have QHD screen on some versions, and all current MSI have IR Camera for Windows Hello. Alright, I ususally never comment on videos, but I just wanted to put this out there about the Predator Helios Neo16, I do agree that the keys and typing might be slightly inferior to its competitors in the video, however, you forget to mention the termals on these machines and I will say for the Predator, I tested it with a consistent 86deg celcius average when gaming on a warmer room (without turbo) and low 80 high 70s average in a cooler room / environemnt and let's not forget the 3ms 165hz monitor with the Nvidia G-sync as well, it makes gaming so seamless with no screen tearing at all which you do touch on. The power supply is definitely a big big, which is another con, but another pro for this machine is that the placement for the trackpad placement id argue to be very well place IF you are right handed as when you type on the keyboard you would notice that the tumb can easily move the cursor around to click on things without needing to move you hand too much. Then again these are just small details that might be subjective to toher people. I used to on an MSI 72Leopard Pro and that laptop had one of the best keyboards i've ever used on laptops, it was developed by steelseries, and it is phenomenal. Later market laptops outside of MSI seem to lack that kind of quality however so this is indeed another con for the helio 16. But all in all I just wanted to point out for the price of the machine giving you an RTX4060 with a 165hz monitor 3ms response time, this is a really decent machine built for gaming as well if it comes to budget machines with power. Many modern gaming laptops unfortunately still feature 120hz or 144hz but acer was able to take this one step further and on top of that the termals are fanatstic on this machine as well which you do mention. Thanks for reading this comment if you did, I love what you do, I will subscribe right now ♥
Great review, I ended up getting the legion 7i on sale after my 4 year old Razer’s battery decided to turn into a spicy pillow. I loved my razer but it’s cooling could not keep up with the workload I put it through.
The only portable gaming laptop in the 4080/90 class is the blade. The ideal one being the 80 blade given the resolution these laptops come with. Rest of them are just bricks with mini bricks to power them
Check out the 14-inch Legion Slim with the OLED screen. It’s the best in the market right now for portability without compromising on gaming horsepower
I genuinely feel like this video misses a very important contender, the normal Acer Predator Helios 16 (not Neo). The Helios 16 this year is a very strong contender in my opinion and should have been listed here as well, since both the Acer Nitro and Helios Neo 16 are its budget younger siblings. In terms of build quality, keyboard & trackpad and display it performs better than both other models (even without its Mini-LED screen), so it is a shame that this video misses it. As a proud owner of a Helios 16 I can fully recommend it to anyone who is interested in an affordable and good quality product.
@@mnazas2299 I have the version with a 4080, i9 13900HX, 16 GB RAM and 1 TB SDD, no Mini LED. Temps are quite high for the CPU, without a cooling pad, an own liquid metal application or undervolting you easily reach the thermal throttling limit under high stress.
Thanks for the comparison. After watching this, I am going to go with Alienware m16. I don't care about portability because I never travel with my gaming laptop. I am using gaming laptop as desktop replacement (with monitor and without moving), so I only need the one with more raw power.
I originally wanted an 18" laptop but if you set one on your lap. You get the, "im actually not a professional basketball player" lol. And these look a lot more practical.
most of these 16 inch laptops cannot run on your lap either....that's the thing they don't tell you in these reviews....they literally have bottom parts on them that dig into your body and the heat they generate is insane even on light work your pants will be sweating....the weight is literally the least of your worries. So don't assume size determines if u can use it on your lap or not....there are lighter 18 inch laptops than 16inch/14inch etc.
I considered the Alienware m16 rtx 4080 but then went for the Asus rog strix g18 4080. I completely agree. I found and actually just bought an HP Omen because of it's way better value for what I'm getting compared to the other laptops. I got a Ryzen 7 7840HS, RTX 4060, 1440p 240hz display for just around $849
They really are. I have the new 16-inch ThinkPad P1 (Intel CPU) and the Legion slim 14-inch (AMD CPU), both with the OLED panels and they’re both gorgeous laptops with stellar design, build quality and performance. No obnoxious fan noise either, which is important for me. The only downside is the short battery life, but that’s not Lenovo’s fault - OLED eats a ton of power and Intel & AMD processors are also putting quite a strain on the battery.
I watched the video but you mentioned that the HP Omen 16 is just not worth it for the price but, I could get one for $849 with a Ryzen 7 7840HS, RTX 4060, 240Hz 1440p display! Which laptop will you find with these specs at that price point? I wanna know
You got that on a bananas sale, I looked at that same Omen recently and HP had it for "sale" for $1570, although your config w/ 240Hz display and 1TB SSD is currently $1700, and I don't see it cheaper at another retailer, so you shouldn't be using $850 as the comparison price when it's currently being sold for twice that amount. The Omen 17" Intel 13700HX + RTX 4060 is currently on sale for just under $1200, which isn't bad, but worse display and smaller SSD. There is a Omen 16 Ryzen 7840 + 4060 16GB RAM 1TB on sale for $1100, but it can't be customized and only has the 1080p / 165Hz display, not remotely comparable. If you can currently get your hands on a brand new Omen 16 7840HS + RTX 4060 - 16GB RAM/1TB SSD 240Hz 1440p for $849, I'd recommend you buy it, immediately. Shit, buy as many as you can and then turn around and sell them each for $400 profit while still undercutting HP sale prices.

Terrible comparison. Most of these are not direct competitors. Completely different price tiers. Comparing charging bricks is stupid as hell without comparing actual wattage. Thickness, size, and weight are all governed by the cooling system. Some of these can cool an rtx 4080 while others cannot and don't even have the option. You might as well throw a Chromebook in the mix since it's just all random assortment anyway.
In my eyes the most important factor is value per money, and how much is worth adding in terms of long term investment, some people prefer just putting as least possible but like most of us prefer a New unused item. But than again for just 50 $ dollar more we get better screen for example, but this companies know how to play the marketing game perfectly, and downgrade other part and that how they lore you to waste much more than you intend to.. just stick to a budget and decisions will be easier. Happy gaming!

I think the "chin" is a good idea. It gives space for a sturdier hinge and raises the screen, making the laptop a bit more ergonomic. If you put the screen right above the keys the inherent ergonomic problems of the laptop would get even worse. At this size sacrificing a bit more portability for much better comfort makes sense
Forgot some "higher is better" / "lower is better" on those charts. While intuitive for most viewers, it is best practice to include these notes in the chart title.
@@spirosarkouzis8946 Yes, but the 4070 isn't great value for money for the premium you pay, since both gpus only use about 100W, 4060 is worth over 4050 for the extra vram.
when it comes to the performance of rtx 4070 and 4060 mobile gpus in laptops, there is only a very minimal increase in performance past 90w so the acer nitro 16 with a 91 watt tdp 4070 will definitely outperform the acer predator with a acer predator with a 104 watt tdp 4060

I actually love the HP Open Looks. Nothing flashing just nice simple design. Agree that the display should be 16:10.
Legion Pro 7i with RTX 4080 🔥
How is the temps?
That's interesting. I have a lenovo legion slim 7 and honestly all I get is 4 hours before it needs to be plugged in.. That's been very disappointing for me
Intel version? @@nyasha7721
So does this mean a 14" roundup is in the works? Or if the 14" and 16" are very similar for each model, is everything mostly the same?
Hopefully
14" and 16" are very different
Here's how it went
1. Within 7-8 months of purchase the L key stopped working
That TIer list are very helpful, now, even Laptops have META units.
This is what i want from a Laptop comparison video
AWESOME WORK💯
How is Zephyrus M16 in ANY WAY a B tier in build quality? It goes against your own words when your review called it "TOP NOTCH Build Quality".
Really like the comparison charts in the video
To my understanding, those thick bottom bezels are there to increase the length of the laptop.... which i necessary to accommodate those big fans. If not, then they will need to solder the ram etc and maybe reduce size of battery.
It's just a shame you didn't include MSI in the comparative. MSI Vector have QHD screen on some versions, and all current MSI have IR Camera for Windows Hello. In other words: MSI Vector gives you everything Lenovo Pro 7i gives you PLUS Windows Hello, and MSI Stealth gives your everything Asus Zephyrus gives you.
2023 msi has way too many problems. There's a reason why these laptops were picked and it isnt because YOU like them.
@@bis7331What were the problems with MSI laptops? It would be great if you could please elaborate a little. Actually I recently bought an MSI laptop ( vector 16 hx) I am wondering if I should return it or it's fine to keep it.
@@arnabiitmphy Highly reccomend u go with the legion 7 series, they have way better performance. If ur paying a price premium, best go with the best option. Lenovo has best customer service compared with msi asw
@@bis7331 Performance wise, the MSI Vector laptop that I bought is quite good. It has i9 14900hx and 4080 with QHD display. I ran some benchmark tests and I got around 30K score in cinebench r23, and around 19K score in 3D mark time spy. So benchmark scores are in line with other laptops with similar specs. The only major complaint that I have for this laptop till now is the fan noise is really really loud under load, to an extent that it can get really annoying.
I like the Alienwares, but their finishes wear out easy. Not something I was expecting on a premium laptop.
Thanks for reading this comment if you did, I love what you do, I will subscribe right now ♥
Bro what do you think about omen trancend 16 🥺
What version do you have? Because ive heard a lot about that laptop overheating like crazy due to it having a hx processor on such a thin laptop.😊
I am thinking of getting the Alienware m16 do you have it output to separate monitor and what model.
I originally wanted an 18" laptop but if you set one on your lap. You get the, "im actually not a professional basketball player" lol. And these look a lot more practical.
18" laptops are not laptops
The titan is insanity it's like the size of a newpaper lol. @@jeffersonmp4
most of these 16 inch laptops cannot run on your lap either....that's the thing they don't tell you in these reviews....they literally have bottom parts on them that dig into your body and the heat they generate is insane even on light work your pants will be sweating....the weight is literally the least of your worries. So don't assume size determines if u can use it on your lap or not....there are lighter 18 inch laptops than 16inch/14inch etc.
I considered the Alienware m16 rtx 4080 but then went for the Asus rog strix g18 4080. The main reason is because it has an 18-in display over the 16 other than that specs are the same but someone posted a screenshot in a Best buy review on the modern warfare 2 stress test it got 200 FPS while mine gets about $150 so I thought that was interesting and trying to figure out how My return in swap it out I don't know either way loving my laptop got it for $2,000
4080 for 2000 is a steal :)
How is the screen and is it ok for rendering video using devinci resolve or premier.
I went for the 4080 Asus strix instead of the zephyrus, the nebula hdr display was not available in the zephyrus lineup locally, and the Alienware was just too much above my budget.. The strix is heavier but feature per key rgb and a very bright screen.
Is it good, do you see any flaws in it?
@@yehyasadiq.1312 great at running most things I suppose... I have only played a bit of gta 5 and God of war on it.. I didn't want to get a thin and light plus a gaming desktop. So this was an obvious option.. Plus turning off the gpu and undervolting should give you a good 5hr of use or so.. More if you are just browsing.. The fans run a lot, not a problem with headphones. Sound is OK, again mitigated by headphones.. Display is the highlight.. Will show hdr content.. Tested some youtube videos.. Excellent details.. Problem is the bloom from the back lit zones over letters or the mouse pointer. Still not a problem unless you video at an angle.. Overall, wait for the 2024 display updates.. Exciting things coming up
Question... Why did you choose the inspiron 16 over the G16 with regards to dell?
Best value is definitely the Omen if you care about portability. Solid performance and quality for about 1000$ less than the M16 zeph. It also weighs around .3kg less than the legion pro.
I completely agree. I found and actually just bought an HP Omen because of it's way better value for what I'm getting compared to the other laptops. I got a Ryzen 7 7840HS, RTX 4060, 1440p 240hz display for just around $849
lenovo is doing a great job lately
They really are. I have the new 16-inch ThinkPad P1 (Intel CPU) and the Legion slim 14-inch (AMD CPU), both with the OLED panels and they’re both gorgeous laptops with stellar design, build quality and performance. No obnoxious fan noise either, which is important for me. The only downside is the short battery life, but that’s not Lenovo’s fault - OLED eats a ton of power and Intel & AMD processors are also putting quite a strain on the battery.
Of course,Lenovo is the best.
Why not include the Legion 9i into the rankings? Price is high, but fitment/specs/thermals are insane.
Thank you! Very helpful/informative video.

I love my Asus scar 16 with the RTX 4090. I chose to do this laptop instead of building a pc it’s much easier to clean
As usual Lenovo showing the competition how to make best laptops while being cheaper compared to the competition.😊
I find that particularly this year the regular Acer Predator Helios 16 (not Neo) is packing a punch with its price quality ratio.
Tell that to my 3 year y540 that doesn’t charge anymore. I have to move the cable in the port for it to get some power :/
What about Bloat-ware & Fan Noise during.... Web/Office, Content Creating & Gaming
@@racerex340 I completely agree, at full price I probably would look elsewhere but this was definitely a deal I couldn't pass so I did buy it. It was like 800 dollars in savings
@@Danny1024DM that is an insane price for that laptop, I don't like Omen but would have grabbed one for my kid at that price had I known. A year ago, a top brand gaming laptop with similar specs and Intel CPU would have been nearly $2000, and I'd take Ryzen 7840 HS over the 13700H that is getting thrown in most similar Intel based gaming laptop options every day of the week.

Great video! Why didn't you include Legion 9i? I wish you did...
I bought my first high spec laptop which is predator neo 16 . Both the nitro and predator neo are a budget friendly options , so I guess a reduction in build is expected , which still isn't bad . The fact that I bought a i913900 hx ,4070 in neo at price lower than even other laptops with way lower specs like i5 , 3050 ,etc..
I am very curious as to why didn't you include legion pro 7i here! It is one of the best selling gaming laptops this year
I just bought the HP Omen 16 with 32 GB RAM, RTX 4070, Ryzen 9 7940HS, QHD 240Hz for just €1200, and it looks incredible. I guess the differences are notable only if you try a high-end laptop.
I recently got the Corsair Voyager a1600 AT $1300. I never would have paid the starting price but at this discounted price it has been a great experience.
I could not agree with you more!
I own a Zephyrus G15 2022 bought about 4 months ago, and already on my third RMA due to BSOD every time i got it plugged in. Had the whole motherboard, SSD, RAM swapped with new unit in my last RMA but issue still persists. Not sure if it is actually Windows that's causing BSOD on these laptops.
Is there a Windows laptop without fan noise, like a MacBook? Almost all the laptops I’ve watched have a problem with fan noise. My purpose is to use it for software development purposes.
Feel like the Omen got hated on for no reason.
TRue man. People hate omen for no reason .sOME WEBSITES EVEN SAY HP HAS WORST AFTER SALES SERVICE

I would love to own the Blade 16 ❤
Just bought the Lenovo Legion 7 Pro with Ryzen 9 7945hx, rtx 4080, 32 gb ram 5200mhz, 512gb ssd, 16 inch Qhd, 500 nits, 100% srgb for only £1700 down from £2569 on CyberMonday and can't wait to see what it can do. Currently using an Asus Vivobook Pro 15x with 5800h, rtx 3050, 16gb ram and 512gb storage and unfortunately ram is soldered and it's limiting me in certain cases. Hopefully Lenovo will chew through everything that I throw at it, especially if i upgrade the ram to 64
Anybody else notice that the new Nitro logo is actually just the left half of the predator logo?...
What about ethernet ports? Do all have them? If not, what is the alternative?
I think the "chin" is a good idea. It gives space for a sturdier hinge and raises the screen, making the laptop a bit more ergonomic. If you put the screen right above the keys the inherent ergonomic problems of the laptop would get even worse. At this size sacrificing a bit more portability for much better comfort makes sense
Forgot some "higher is better" / "lower is better" on those charts. While intuitive for most viewers, it is best practice to include these notes in the chart title.
You should review the legion Slim 7 (AMD) its the same as the 7i but with much better battery life.
With an extra type A port
But it’s only up to a rtx 4060 no?
@@spirosarkouzis8946 Yes, but the 4070 isn't great value for money for the premium you pay, since both gpus only use about 100W, 4060 is worth over 4050 for the extra vram.
@@med7at10 Both intel and AMD have the same ports. Only difference is the thunderbolt port is USB 4 on the AMD one.
when it comes to the performance of rtx 4070 and 4060 mobile gpus in laptops, there is only a very minimal increase in performance past 90w so the acer nitro 16 with a 91 watt tdp 4070 will definitely outperform the acer predator with a acer predator with a 104 watt tdp 4060
Should have uploaded this before black friday...
LOL, how did the M16 not end up in S-tier for build quality, but somehow B tier? Giving the Alienware higher build quality than the ROG M16? That's complete bananas, design of the ROG M16 might be dated and the Animatrix isn't for many people, but the build quality is definitely on-par with Razer, and I'd go as far as saying the Keyboard and trackpad quality on the M16 has been ahead of Razer for a few years now. I think Razer has dropped to A-tier for their keyboard and touchpad, but I agree legion slim should be in S tier (along w/ M16)

That alienware is actually the R1 not the R2
Yeah, it came out between 2022 to 2023. That year range is the r1, and the following 2023 to 2024 is the r2. They did the same thing with the m18 r1 and m18 r2. I actually purchased the r1 m18 with an AMD RYZEN 9 7845HX paired with Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 8GB laptop Gpu with 32 gb Gddr5 5200mhz Ram and a 1TB NVME SSD M.2 2280. Alienware finally got it right with the M18 R1. I love mine. It tares through everything game I can five it. The amazing thing is I actually can play 4k UHD Games like Starfield and Cyberpunk in 4k in mostly medium settings and it plays at around 68 to 120 fps. I'm so dam impressed with this beast. I only paid $1999.99 it was $500.00 off when I bought it!

@@zocker018_bossHow are the thermals and fan noise? I am also interested in the Helios 16 with 4080. I have seen very mixed reviews.
@@Dandiego235
The thermals are what you would expect for the most part, with the GPU staying nice and cool and the CPU going nuts.
During gaming, it's common to see the CPU at it's thermal throttle limit of 92°C or even 100, but with sufficient cooling and liquid metal repaste it should run cooler.
Fan noise is within the acceptable range but pretty loud on max, lower settings are available tho.
Also, undervolting is possible but more complicated thanks to Intels lock.
got the m18 r1 last year - lots of issues and this was not my first alienware, never again! looking at lenovo now.
