Thank you Robert. I've taken a break from small stand mounts now that I am in my new home. I will have a review soon of the Philharmonica BMR v.2, yet, I doubt anyone would qualify them as a typical stand mount. They are rather large, being a three way design. Like the Rubicon, these BMR's have some serious special sauce thanks to the new Danish 6" driver. Thanks for watching.

@@roybrolsbeak Nice that's cheap. There is nothing overwhelming on these speakers, but I have a Marantz SR6015 with a lot of features to improve the sound. But I also have these running with a DALI E-12 F Subwoofer. There are a lot of reasons it can be overwhelming. The speakers are too close to the wall, no Acoustic treatment or the amp-dac combo isn't great or bad settings like loudness etc. These speakers have a lot of Bass but its pleasant and fast bass, not boomy or overwhelming but again it all depends on a lot of factors. I wouldn't blame the speakers (or even the Oberon 5's) if they are too much.

Hi Jason, great honest review as always. Having done the review of the Phil Bmr2, in what areas do you prefer it over the Dali. Was planning on buying bigger bookshelf in the future.
I have the Dali Oberon 1. While they are very good but I do find some sibilance and the tone a little on the brighter side though musical. How are the higher frequencies of the BMR2 monitors compared to the Rubicon with respect to listening fatigue ? Thank you very much.

Hello Kanchan, what I can say is I never get tired of the ribbon tweeter set up, be it the Fountek or Raal's that I have heard. They tend to be very open and detailed without the harshness. Now, as directly compared to the sweet 29mm unit on the Rubicon, they are really closely matched in air and detail, but I will still say that the Rubicon unit does edge a little brighter and if pushed hard for a good deal of time, "could" be less favorable compared to the BMR set up. Price for price, I would still go with the BMR v2 speakers.
      Thanks for watching.

I auditioned the R2 and they blew me away, when i got them home they were to strong for the bedroom office. I replaced them with DALI Menuet.
I later bought a pair of Rubicon 5 for the living room. The R2 & R5 sound almost identical but the R5s ribbon tweeter helps the dome tweeter spread its sound, which means you can slouch off axis and they still sound great. The bass from the R2 is more agile but its lacks the long bassline tones that you can hear in the R5. Also the R2 box resonates more than the bigger R5.
In oct I purchased a pair of R2 for the garage gym and made up with the sound they put out.
The Menuet are the same class of speaker as the Rubicon but theyre a smaller design ideal for my office; with a party wall adjoining the neighbour.
DALI make a Menuet SE variant with a superior crossover with Mundorf caps. The SE is the same speaker as the 2020 menuet apart from the XO.
I bought the upgrade and did a side by side comparison. The SE has better dynamics, pianos sound life like but this XO is less forgiving with poorly made recordings. Its the one to go for if you like orchestral recordings. The standard XO is tuned to acoustic guitars, you can hear the wood vibrate on some of Ben Howards songs. Its more forgiving over a wider spectrum of recordings/songs.

    • @2ChannelListening

Hello Brian, a tube integrated with HDMI??? I'm going to go out on a limb and say they will never exist, not if you actually want a true point to point wired tube sound (which is the entire point) or you would be getting a heavily micro processed board and a mere tube buffer added on. Find a tube integrated you will really like and throw a HDMI protocol streamer in with it.
Regarding the comparison you are asking for...I am just a hobbyist with my little room, I do not own a shop. I have to sell something to get something with a few exceptions of borrowed equipment. The new Totem Fires had a massive price increase and I cannot wrap my head around them costing $7,500 now. While you can get the Rubicon 2 for $2,500 or less, take the deal and run. I do hope to get my hands on the new Signature One. I wish you luck!

Sound demo’s are for entertainment purposes only. How would you hear what he is hearing when it is recorded trough a microphone which adds another tone to the sound , and then you play it on your speakers which are most likely another brand/model in your room which has different acoustics.
Even if i record music from my stereo and upload it to youtube and then play it back over the same setup it sounds way way different and not in a good way. I tried recording with decent microphones like the Shure MV88 and MV88+ but even those did a poor job.

Have ever heard any B&W's? If so, how would these compare to the B&W "sound". I currently have CM8 s2's and am looking for something with a little more "brighter" tweeter. There claimed frequency response is 48 - 28 +-3db. vs the Dali which is 50 - 26,000 +-3db. Could this stand mount get close to our equal to a floorstander in frequency response. I also have Wharfedale 9.1's and they have a similar frequency response to the Dali (50Hz-24kHz, -6dB), but sound "thin" in the lower frequency area.

    • @2ChannelListening

      Greetings Dan,
I have owned and demoed a few pairs of B&W's in my time. I bought Monitor Audio RX8's over Gen I CM8's because I felt the RX8's were better balanced top to bottom to my taste.
I would say the Rubicon is still a smoother operator than the B&W house sound. While the Rubicon has a nice open top end, it manages to stay just below too hot. I think you might want to demo some Focal's. For instance, the Chora 806 has a 28 kHz top end. Plus, I believe Thomas at Thomas & Stereo, he likes bright sounding speakers and swears by Focal's. I cannot comment on Wharfedale sound, no experience with their modern products. Good luck in your hunt.

I went a bit over the budget and will try a Hegel H95. Hopefully this will be enough because I'm well over budget now. I will also try the NAD 388 just for comparison. On HiFi klubben the DALI Rubicon's are specifically mentioned in the page for Hegel H120, but that really is very expensive for me so idk.. if the ones ove ordered don't work I'll just save for that I guess
I tried a Cambridge axr100D, but I felt like there was absolutely no bass presence and that surprised me. I also felt like I needed a lot of volume with them and idk why but it just didn't sound good for me.
EDIT:I have a broad taste and like piano, classical music, rock (you know that emo-type with screaming) and I love big soundpictures that makes me feel russounded by music. Sometimes I also listen to more electronic music or instrumentals and I enjoy good pop music. I just want speakers that can do it all. I also listen to low volumes. Sometimes I play loud, but for the most part I want the speaker/amps to play well at very low listening volumes (close to minimum). As this is a big investment for me they will also be m y only speakers for years to come and will have to handle movies and TV aswell.
My budges was also 1113 and not 113 - I misspelled.

You can get away with a nice 30 watt amp. Or, do you sit further back, say 10ft (3M) and like Fortissimo? You will want 150 watts of headroom at 8ohms to push the limits of the Rubicon 2.

I don't know what you mean by better components! there's nothing wrong with the components in the crossover and the layout is correct what they did, yes you could change electrolytics for film capacitor but maybe the electrolytics sound better doesn't mean putting film capacitors is better they have an individual sound and maybe they sound better with electrolytics in that formation

Did you watch my Philharmonic BMR review? The Dail Rubicon became my #2 choice until the BMR. Still, the Totem are $6K, so for $2.5K US, the Rubicon's are an amazing looking and performing speaker that I would reach for again any day for musical enjoyment. Buy a second hand pair of Totem Fires for under $3K, and boy, you have a stand mount speaker that will shame so many floorstanding units.

Cool video review. Hello 👋🏼. I own a pair of these Dali Rubicon 2s, I paid £1368, & they work really well in my hifi system. I own a Yamaha AS-1100 Amp, a Audiolab m-dac +, also a Audiolab 6000cdt Transport. I really love the sound of these Speakers. To me they sound "perfect." Well, too my ears they do. I understand fully. Had I never heard the Totem Acoustic Fires, I would be even more puzzled. However, working with apartment space and wanting a speaker to disappear, your best choice still remains a really well build stand mount speaker. My little ZU's are overkill in this space. The Rubicon's make a lot of sense for this environment.

'Musicality' and 'Organic'. Those are the descriptors you're supposed to use when you can't articulate a description. That and "magic."🤣
I myself personally stray from the reductionist approach with regards to components/name brands (nichicon, SEAS, etc). The final product's worth is the total synergy of sound and looks. If a no-name component delivers the desired electrical behaviour then who needs a Mundorf? Also if you buy from B&M stores, most times you'll get a discount.

    • @2ChannelListening
