I am a music lover who has a tenacious appetite for sampling many different stereo components. Like any chef, I am always changing my ingredients, adding and taking away pieces which ultimately alters a tried and true recipe. This is a journey as much as a hobby. One week I may have first year released speakers, the next week I am living with some 1970's vintage gear. I learn something from each piece I bring in my living space. There is well deserved skepticism in Hifi. My goal is to share my knowledge and experience with new and aspiring audiophiles. I don't deal in absolutes, so purists will not like my attitude!
Ask me questions, let me know if there is something I've already owned and you are curious if it would work for you.
Independent, no sponsors, no BS, just a guy and his ever changing stereo system. Feel free to pm me, I'm happy to help with gear or set up questions.
Happy listening!

Arylic H50 Network Integrated Amplifier; Setting real expectations for under $399
Review of the Arylic H50 Multi-Room network integrated amplifier. I bought it for my secondary system in a bedroom/office environment.
The best streaming results were via Ethernet using Tidal Direct.
Wifi Network with the 4Stream app was excellent compared to cheap streamers of a couple years ago and even a slight improvement over the S50 Pro+ I have on hand thanks to the updated Sabre chip. BT works well, no complaints, no drop outs operating within 30 ft of the unit.

NAD C658 BluOS Streamer: The Search is over! I've found my do it all Network DAC!
nice sound but i hate the slanted front baffle Maybe it has a good reason but i do not like it i like vertical baffles maybe with recessed tweeters i prefer the polish design even if i would have some concerns for the tweeter Is it a soft dome ? it sounds a little piercing
Dumb.
The 250ti 's can be underwhelming to some people. They need an amplifier with good control and damping ability to keep the 14" woofer in line with the subdued neutral voicing of the rest of the speaker. When they are set up correctly they are an extremely honest reproducer that can really be a contrast to the embelished sound that many prefer. They can be great in the right set up. They sound like live unamplified music. They also have tremendous dynamic ability.
Music selection is great. Thank you!
I owned the L1590s. The big issue with these speakers is their fluid filled dome tweeters and dome midranges. Mine 'dried up', and I actually LOVED the way they sounded like that, however, somehow, they threw the axis off, and they sounded 'out of phase' listening to them in stereo. When I hit the Mono switch on the preamp, they sounded great. In stereo, they sounded so 'off' that you felt almost dizzy. As much as I loved the 'tone' of them, I decided to take a chance and have the tweeters and domes re-built, knowing that they might change the tone that I loved so much. I got the rebuilt 'refilled' domes back, and hated the sound of them. That 'off axis' sound was gone and I could listen to them again in stereo, but that tone that I loved was unfortunately long gone. They sounded like a totally different speaker. I never heard a pair when they were new in the late 1980s, so I really didnt have a reference on to what they 'should' sound like. I did almost send them out to someone else to try to get 'that' tone back, and also always looked for used tweeters and mids, hoping they might have aged the same way over time and also had that 'tone', but after many years looking, I parted with the speakers.
My L1530's are spectacular.
How do you find Dirac ?
Thanks for covering this PT flagship. A question does this sound sonnically 3 Dimentional like tubes? Thanks
I’m definitely interested in the tower versions of these. In room extension down to 25 Hz, and 86db sensitivity with the wide radiation of the Raal ribbon and BMR mids. Man, the specs and measurements basically seem too good to be true for a set of speakers less than $5000. However, the source point 888s seem to be objectively the best speaker by a large margin in that price bracket, and while they only have bass down to the mid 30s, they have exceptional distortion measurements.
Just picked up a 3930 for 150 dollars in norway, and sell my 3910 never had any issues Fantastic players
Toilet paper icon on coffee mug… math joke on tee….how serious can I take your review on expensive HiFI gear.
Would love to hear your thoughts on the Carina GaN, especially with it coming in so far under that $4500 price point you mentioned.
I agree, I've been living with these speakers for over a year now and their imaging is incredible, and there is very noticeable space between instruments. I recommend near field listening in a small room. My listening room is 12ft x 12ft and the speakers are well into the room about 3 to 4 feet from the listening position, about 6 feet apart and the sound is magical. I'm driving them with a 25watt valve integrated and that drives them beautifully, although crescendos are not their forte
This is a great review thank you, I wonder if the 150 would be a good pair for my Infinity RS111s which require a high current output and the Peachtree may work, thanks again.
Great video with very helpful descriptions and advice. I couldn’t find the totem fire’s on their website or eBay. Is there another current model that is comparable to those?
Most spouse's would not put up with this kind of interest, let alone the cost..the size of the the systems. In my past I have three different women friends that wanted a stereo system. All of them took.the time to find the one that suited their needs. This is a nice interview..to include your lovely wife. I just stumbled on to you channel and I like your casual format..keep up the great work it's greatly appreciated !
Thank you kindly.
Incorporating 8 inch woofer in a 2 way speaker with 1 inch tweeter is hard. MA is too aggressive and they should design a 7 inch or keep using 6.5 inch woofers.
Speak faster and don’t act the fool 😤
Such profound advice is easily lost on the fool that I am.
Watch at 1.25 speed
Got to Love Jason's honesty and realism... these Harbeth's seem very nice and after this review I almost purchased them, but 2 years later...I ended up with the 92db sensitive vintage Tannoy Berkeley 15" dual concentric speakers and they pair quite well with tube amplifiers like my recently aquired Conrad Johnson Premier 11a 6550c tube amplifier...now I need to sell a pair of vintage Spendor S100 that in there own right are awesome speakers...
That's one heck of a vintage speaker Brian, congratulations. You must be in listening bliss now. Thank you for your kindness and sharing your updates with me. Enjoy sir! 👍
Harbeth is a very lazy designed box has no bracing and colours the bass and lower midrange badly. Even 1k is to much for a speakers that is this poorly built. They are a speaker you need to get used to. They wld have been good in the late 80s but fall far behind modern build quality.
Based on your love of the Harbeth brand, I wonder how much time you have spent with other mainstream speakers in the $2k-$8.5K range. I've seen worse from boutique builders trying to recoup their fancy veneers over substance and driver quality. I have been lucky to hear a lot of speakers and no matter what camp you are in with Harbeth, they sound very good for what they are, the formula works. Luckily there is a speaker and brand out there for everyone. Cheers!
Osd for me
It looks like GDM10/60 from Tonsil and W.15.160.8.MCX from STX.
You talking gives me no idea!
It was a TELARC monitor, if I remember correctly. It's my favorite sealed speaker system.
how do you compare the 2ex to the philharmonic?
Could we listen to these tannoy? That’ si à shame
My old Epos ES 14's destroy every speaker i tested them against!
Hey ! Nice presentation of this amp (and nice those which I'm seeing sitting around )....😅 As far as the sound of Naim (5si) i agree 100% ! ..I feel exactly the same ... respected brand , very good construction -special here I'm giving my vote - but as far as the sound concerns , it's like never something very special happening ..is a mature , balanced , careful tuned maybe? but it doesn't make the difference ...it's like turn it On and leave it play ..without giving a lot of attention ! Thanks
I thought the other amp is class A - from. Thumbnail
don't sell a nelson pass... donate it to ME and free shipping to canada too please, i'm poor and just a music lover, not an audiophile so you'll feel alllll better when you donate it to ME
I like your channel! Thanks for the information and I agree with your indictment of the spec fetishists.
How do these sound compared to BMR Philharmonics? I play rock mostly…
Say what you want about Eric Alexander, but the Lores really can't be beaten in the sub-$1500 category. They beat a lot of $2000-3000 speakers.
hi jason...hope all is well...of all the speakers I've watched you review and trying many brands I've settled on a pair of vintage Tannoy Berkeley's and using them with an original Dynaco ST70 EL34 tube amp to drive them...I'm happy but really my mind is set on getting a pair of Tannoy Arden mk1...in the mean time selling off my Spendor S100...thanks to you for always keeping everything real...one of the few on TH-cam!😁🎶
Your opinion on subwoofer integration makes sense. Didn’t know I felt the same way till you said it.
I really enjoyed your review. Please keep up the good work.
Thank you 🙏
Do you have these for sale currently on US audio Mart?
Nope, those are my former pair however. Good acquaintance of mine is selling them. 👍
@@2ChannelListening why are you selling them? I thought they sounded great on your video 😊
Loved the video, I was thinking about an ascend setup for movies. Since emotiva is always sold out. Any thought for ascend for movies with bookshelves?
It’s always about space and budget. Ascend makes a HT line. If your tight on space but want the punch, they a great line. Aperion audio is also a worthy consideration for dual purpose listening.
thx for this video ! still around ? how about a update? i love this would be good for rear, surround for 11.1 ? HT ( but pricy ) ! but now his HTtowers still have the scan speak eh ? so are we talking non compatible ? would be pretty pricy HT towers $4.5 K these $2K X6 what do i do for the ATMOS speakers ? and why is the C chanell using tiny drivers? BOOO ! are they made w/ uigher chi-com slave labor ? can't i just get a cheap finish basic black like pickup truck bed material ! LOL SERIOUSLY ! can't we have sealed speakers w/NO damn port ? hate them !
I HAVE BMR MONITORS AND LOVE THEM. Like them better than my B & W 703s and Monitor Audio Silver 8s. Overall more versatile for more types of music than my Maggie LRSs. Beautiful to look at as well. Amqzing for the bucks. Sold the B&W 703s!
Enjoy!
Can you explain the subsonic filter set up. I have this amp and im curious as to what these are and do for the system.
The JBL Synthesis 1400 array were an amazing set of speakers.
How would they compare to the bronze 100 which are half the price?
Super❤❤❤❤
EMI DLS-1 studio monitors with tube amps on their base is the first and only one that I can remember doing that before ADS… zozosir.blogspot.com/2015/01/emi-dls1.html?m=1 I have a pair of the DLS 529 and they absolutely sound amazing…
ive had kef 104/2 since 1986 any other speakers just dont do it for me ...
What’s the damping factor on the orchard?
Hello. You can find that info an a lot of other specification on my website. P.S. The damping factor on my ultra amps is >700.
I want one! I hope to save enough to buy one soon, the only dig I can take at it is missing wood blocks on the side. Dolled up with some stained pretty wood blocks on each side, its appearance would DEFINITELY be more commanding of the price.
Excellent review. What our your thoughts on their cheaper offerings. I am a low SPL listener that loves sensitive speakers. Favorites are the JBL Studio 590's so far. Is there much difference in the lower wattage offerings of Orchard compared to their flagship ?
