At 6:07 "I don't have the legs to respond to that one" 6:11 *Responds to that one* Great video as always Jeff, thanks for sharing your experiences with us. And your fitness is just outstanding
Never bike raced in my life and happened on this channel by accident, but the way you explain the psychology and meta behind bike racing has made me a fan. Could you make a video about the training behind the scenes?
10:55 That tension as a good rider *slowly* rolls off the front of the bunch in the closing stages of a race.. and nobody responds... Great vid as always, thank you.
Powerful bridge at the end and amazing ability to jump past in the last segment! Almost makes me want to race again, but after 30 years and 3 broken collarbones, my body couldn't take it anymore!
NOT Enough new videos! Damn, just a week ago I didn't like watching cycling but now I can't get enough of your videos. All I need now is to find out if there is Crits or what ever this format is called in Norway, would love to try this. Amazing content!
amazes me how you bring the power on so quickly, i am no racer, just keep fit, love the videos! Makes me feel very inadequate though... i would average 16-17mph on an hours ride... haha! great cycling, great camaraderie i don't doubt!
I'm a professional boxer ranked #6 in the world by the WBC. I know nothing about cycling but when I watch your videos I get so excited. I have so much respect for cycling. I had no idea how deep strategy is. Keep up the great work!!!
As somebody who started watching your videos in the last few months and has been watching mostly non-sequentially... jeff: "there's the national champ behind me" me: "wow he looks just like Jerome" 6 mins later jeff: "yep, Jerome in the stars and stripes" me: "fuck yeah jerome"
Great race. That's why I used to say...It doesn't matter if you have a carbon or aluminum road bike, the most important is the Cyclist. See Alex on the Yellow bike? he is so good on this bike. It is a Allez Sprint comp, aluminum frame, carbon fork and seat post. I like to see that!!!! Best race to all.
The person sitting behind them has a much easier time due to less wind resistance so if you drive a hard pace you are just carrying people with you and tiring yourself out.
Yeah he said he trained endurance from commuting 40/20 from VC 8x4s not sure (4s full gas 8 times?) Thank you, is this for sprinter? I'm still not sure which type or rider I am but I heard that sprint training could benefit most riders
Pretty cool. I ride a 84 Schwinn world it’s my dad’s he got a wedding present. I avg 16mph I wonder how it would convert to a new rig with up to date cranks etc. I’m also 6’ 6” I’m the tallest rider I know 🤪
Nice- what is your maximum 1s, 5s, and 30 second power? I don't race anymore, just do some local rides. Lol I know I put down like 1500 watts while passing a minivan coming down a mountain a couple weeks ago, but it's been so long since I've done any actual sprinting
Why are there random cars there? You are racing on an open road? In which case isn't that super dangerous in corners? And at one point you ran a red light, how does that work?
When I was racing I would average 175-180bpm for 4-5 hours... often going into the 190+ range with hard efforts. I’m not a pro but I thought that fast people could do the same. Maybe it’s the legs that can’t keep that kind of wattage. I don’t know.

+1
Karl B. He has previously outlined his training schedule on a previous video. E.g. how he prepares for races. What he does in the off season etc. ^^
6:12, look at that guy's epic derailleur cable!! :-)
long boi
at 7:08 "16mph soo slow, haha"
lol this is my average speed
My avarage 20 km/h :/
Mine mych less
it's regarding racing 😹
It’s a lot different in a race especially when your drafting so much
Try drafting

At 6:34 we know that Jeff has accurate metrics with the speed gun telling his speed.
That was very instructional, and fun. Wish I had started racing bike a lot younger than when I did.
Good stuff! Your narration along with the first person point of view makes this video even more amazing to watch. thanks for the ride.

Congratz, great race! Almost died laughing @ 6:05 . This dude passes you going 30 rpm bending his frame along with spacetime

1spongeygit not bad man not bad
For real... I just got into cycling about a month ago and doing intervals I can barely reach 30mph but these guys hold it all day.
@@linglingjr well i can't reach 30mph on the flat... maybe 30kph!... ha!
The struggles I do have is that there is so much uphill where I live, so the speed varies a lot
man I stopped doing this since 2017, and just watching and remembering how I was inside the race makes my heart beat so fast.
Thanks for your videos and insight, really helps me when I go and rip it on the local race track with the bunch.
Big power jeff...wow.. you came around him like if he was tied to a stump great job💪
What a phenomenal sprint!!!! You and Alex. Best.
Gonna watch this before I sleep tonight :) What a great timing!
Looking forward to the Boise vid
"how to wimp out" lol footage should be good though

where can we find your boy Chris? I`d like to see some footage (if possible) from him as well. Being all alone out there, for so long ? Beast !
running all those red lights lol. great race man!!
Great content as always! You make me want to start racing crits!
Your videos make me want to get back into race shape
Always a pleasure to watch!
killer, old low level crit racer and man...love seeing both front and rear views, great strategy talk too

IMO super stiff alu bike is better for crits than lightweight carbon
Man I want to try this! Looks so fun!!
+NorCal Cycling would u be able to do a video on what training u do to prepare for a race thanks and loving all your vids they are fantastic
Browse his old videos. He has posted two videos about training basics and his weekly training plan.
Jeremy Natividad thanks for the reply n I will do
Why are the roads not closed?
This is not an official race, it's a practice race where people just come together to race, so they can't just close off roads
Can’t get enough of your vids hehe love this channel
Epic race bro keep it going
Your right...it is my favorite💪💪🏁
Great race 👍
alex is a beast! props to him
what tires do you recommend for crits? do you see that lighter riders with like 65kg have chances in such crits where "big engines" are in favour?
That was a brutal final sprint!!
can you get a can and paint a finish line. i never quite sure where it is
I'm going to cheer for the cyclist on the yellow bike ... he rides a bike exactly like mine. Go Alex Go!!!!
Why did Jerome (the national champ) give him a leadout at the end? To help him get the 1-2 placement?
As an experienced racer, do you prefer to have disc brakes or rim brakes and why?
Eitan Frankowitz rim .. because its not heavy like disc
Bwahaha dammmn nice win. Keep it up 🙏
Love your videos! Crit school!
Where did you get your GoPro session 5?
Sometimes i click the Video just to see trained legs so satisfying nohomo
im confused, this is a race...why is there traffic on the roads? Seemingly right next to the riders. Are the roads not shut down for these?
Love your videos
Gotcha. I play football all my life. So football a little easier lol. But I gotcha you I’ll try that tomorrow when we ride.
Lol my ftp is 90 watts - less then 1w/kg. I'm exhausted watching you guys.
Are you sure you did proper testing? That is a very low number. If you base your FTP off from Strava power estimate it can be way off.
@@Jimmyfpv_ Well I'm 240 pounds. Riding around 12-13 mph for thirty minutes to one hour. So yeah. I'm weak AF rn but I keep on keeping on.
CateDoge
You should carb up and check your blood.
0 thumbs down :D I just love to watch ur wids. :)
Are these roads open to traffic?
Why do they attack all the time instead of driving constant pace? (Sorry if I‘m dumb)
The person sitting behind them has a much easier time due to less wind resistance so if you drive a hard pace you are just carrying people with you and tiring yourself out.
also they want to break away for a gap
What kind of exercises/workout you would do for these races?
Yeah he said he trained endurance from commuting
40/20 from VC
8x4s not sure (4s full gas 8 times?)
Thank you, is this for sprinter? I'm still not sure which type or rider I am but I heard that sprint training could benefit most riders
Oh man. I thought you were going to lose it! Nice
So you do practice races on non closed roads?
Nice finish!
Pretty cool. I ride a 84 Schwinn world it’s my dad’s he got a wedding present. I avg 16mph I wonder how it would convert to a new rig with up to date cranks etc. I’m also 6’ 6” I’m the tallest rider I know 🤪
What gear are you in during the race?
What crit is run on open to traffic roads?
practice crit lol
@@mejartomlinson7065 I was going to say, I dont know any USAC official that would ok that kind of thing.

burning legs going 40mph. wondering your max speed output.
Cars on the course?
Does anyone know what software overlay with power, HR, speed and rear view is used in this video?
Dashware
Why are there cars on the course?
Because they're racing on open roads.
Not a sanctioned race. Practice Criterium.
Got sone revenge
How old is Jeff? 🤔
I love ur vid I'm a young cyclist 12
You shouldn't have a youtube account yet.
I am not posting nun on in sooo
How do you slow down and speed up like that. Your legs don’t hurt? What’s the secret lol
They hurt, but if you race smart they'll hurt less than your competition when it matters most. Train smarter not harder 👍
When I was racing I would average 175-180bpm for 4-5 hours... often going into the 190+ range with hard efforts. I’m not a pro but I thought that fast people could do the same. Maybe it’s the legs that can’t keep that kind of wattage. I don’t know.
Heart rate is no indication of performance
Love you
🥰
care to explain why the national champ did a leadout for you even though he wasn't part of team terun?
Pretty sure this is just a practice race for fun and training.
Wow! What was your average HR?
so strong...
4:28 1300 watts wtf watching this makes me wanna throw up :'D good job, wish i had those legs.
did you get a new bike?
what is your max HR ?
Alex gave it a thumbs down....
How do you measure your wattage?
Power2max powermeter
lemonade anyone?
2nd
"alex this, alex that"; just go kiss him already pff
U guys are weak. Also fake watts
