I like your calmness, I mean you're not dead nor boring, but you know what I mean. You explain very well and I enjoyed your video and, as for the your biscuits...they're bang on. God Bless.
You have a very nice manner of presenting... I subscribed for three reasons 1) Your presentation 2) grating butter...who knew! 3) Helping you to the magic number. Happy cooking!
Oh wow - I have never been able to make good biscuits, and it's flustered me so much, because generally, I am a really good cook! So this is something that has eluded me for years. However - I truly believe that with your recipe and tips, I will be able to do it! There are several things that you did here that I haven't been doing, and I think it will make ALL the difference!! For one, you used cold butter - and grated it. I have used melted and/or room temperature margarine. Second, you used buttermilk, not regular milk! And third - you didn't beat it up a lot -- you only stirred it just enough to incorporate it. Finally, you baked them at a higher temperature - I have done them at 350 - 375 - and you baked them in a skillet, too - not on a baking sheet! So I am very excited to try it again, with your tips! And I'm going to check out your strawberry jam recipe, too! Thank you!! Thumbs up!!
This comment makes me so happy! You sound a lot like I felt before I got this recipe right too! You can totally do this & I'm so glad you're going to give biscuits another try!
I am new here. I love how easy you are to understand and follow. I am subscribing and can't wait to watch all your videos. ❤ This Washingtonian loves Southern cooking and these biscuits look as Southern as they can get. Thank you!
I've just found your channel thanks to GOHQ and I'm loving it! I read the comments here and I see many people calling these scones, but they're not the same...unless what I've been making and calling scones all these years is wrong lol! Scones have sugar and egg in them, and usually baking powder instead of self-rising flour. Oh well. They're all yummy! Thanks for this channel, I'm writing down every recipe.
You just answered all the questions I had in biscuit making!!!! My husband is Texan and I wanted to bring some of his comfort food here in Australia and this recipe is easy to follow. Thank you very much!!!!
You'll have to make them, take them out at this point and pull off the ones for your husband. Then you can stick yours back in the oven for a few more minutes! :)
My mother was a wonderful southern cook and we grew up eating biscuits and apple butter or honey or gravy, etc. Part of every day life we took for granted. I married into a family of picky eaters who will not eat them so restaurants are where I relive the biscuit memories, lol! And vicariously through TH-cam apparently!
Thank you so much! Yes, you really can make these. I was completely serious about avoiding making biscuits for years and if I could figure it out and make these, anyone can! Hope you enjoy!
That is awesome! Thank you for sharing, thank you for taking us thru it step by step. And yes we too in South Africa call them scones. Mother's day today, will bake them.
Your video was so well done and you are very easy to listen to. I subscribed immediately just for that, but I also will be trying your recipe and the technique of grating the butter and simply stirring it in instead of using a pastry cutter. I'm definitely looking forward to more of your videos! Thank you.
Great recipe. I’ll be trying soon. One ‘seasoned u-tuber suggested a 500 degree oven for her biscuits. The cook hot and fast. Don’t get a chance to dry out plus reducing the risk of overtaking. Works!!!
You really should try them with cream also try making your biscuits with lemonade in stead of milk when I make them I put a good teaspoonful of baking powder and I always sift my flower it makes them airy and lighter. Cheers from Australia 🇦🇺
You can do these! Don't use too much liquid and don't overwork the biscuit dough. Those are the two most important things to remember. Let me know how yours turn out!
Very nice. Thank you for the video. I did the dough in my food processor as I’ve only got one hand working atm but pulsed it rather than have it on full spin. It worked
Oh wow! Glad you figured out a way to make that work under the circumstances. My parents have blueberry bushes and I made blueberry jam last year too. I bet that was delicious on the biscuits!
I think grating the butter is the best hack when it comes to making biscuits. Who knew it could be this easy! Whenever I make pie crust, another great hack I’ve discovered is using the food processor to cut in my flower and shortening and I make the dough right there with it. The food processor makes pie crust almost as easy as Pillsbury! I wouldn’t recommend it for biscuits though, unless you like biscuits that could cut glass! 😂
Yes, I put just little butter in it to coat the bottom of the pan and set it in the hot oven to melt the butter. It took about 3 minutes in the oven, then I took it out and added the biscuits to the pan. Thanks for watching!
One stick of butter, which is 1/2 cup, is in the recipe. I also use a little butter to coat the iron skillet and then a little melted butter to brush the tops of the biscuits. That would only be about 1 tablespoon for the skillet and about 1 tablespoon for the tops of biscuits. Thanks for watching!
The measurements are given in the video! 4 cups of self-rising flour, 1 stick cold butter (1/2 cup) and 2-2 1/2 cups buttermilk (only as much as needed until dough barely comes together). Be sure to watch the video to catch the tips needed for the technique, though! Thanks for the comment.
It is similar to clabbered milk. Clabbered milk is naturally fermented from unpasteurized milk that is left at room temperature to allow bacteria to grow.
We are just getting started and are working on our website too! We will have it up soon and the recipes will be available there! Thanks for watching & be sure to check back for that soon!

They are similar to scones. However, here in the United States, these are biscuits. They are a bit fluffier than a scone. Our cookies here are similar to your biscuits.

Thank you so much! I really appreciate your feedback. The butter hack is really a good one, so I'm glad you liked it!

The biscuits look delicious. My husband would love them that way. For myself, I like my biscuits dark brown, lol
You'll have to make them, take them out at this point and pull off the ones for your husband. Then you can stick yours back in the oven for a few more minutes! :)
Nice tutorial. I make the rest of my dough and pop them into the freezer too use another day. They turn out good too. Great for a busy day.
Yes, I love flash freezing things for later! Great tip!

Wonderful! Today will be a great day to give them a try. Thank you for watching!
In New Zealand and Australia we call them Scones, also we use a bread and butter knife to mix never a spoon. Your scones look delicious.
Yes, I am familiar with scones and these are quite similar. That is an interesting fact about the butter knife. Thanks for sharing!
We in the UK call them scones & in Cornwall you have them with jam & clotted cream.
Scottish recipe
You have the same dishes my mom had Dessert Rose love them . Even better with a biscuit on it.
Yes I love these dishes! Everything tastes better on a pretty plate! 😊
That's really smart to put the 1st one in the middle
Looking forward to making your biscuits
Wonderful! Let me know how yours turn out!
Looks so yummy and fluffy.

Great recipe. I’ll be trying soon. One ‘seasoned u-tuber suggested a 500 degree oven for her biscuits. The cook hot and fast. Don’t get a chance to dry out plus reducing the risk of overtaking. Works!!!
Thank you! Yes, I recently saw that tip as well & may turn the oven up a bit to give it a try.
You really should try them with cream also try making your biscuits with lemonade in stead of milk when I make them I put a good teaspoonful of baking powder and I always sift my flower it makes them airy and lighter. Cheers from Australia 🇦🇺
That sounds very interesting! Thanks for the comment!
I used to live in Australia for 4 yrs back in the 70's
Neat milk reminder! Also not needed that special light southern flour. I thank you.
You are so welcome!
I bet my hubby would love these!
Yes, you should give them a try!
New sub here. Love your biscuit recipe. I want to try this. I love to cook but not a baker. TFS
You can do these! Don't use too much liquid and don't overwork the biscuit dough. Those are the two most important things to remember. Let me know how yours turn out!
Got some in the oven as I write. Will have with blueberry jam that I made yesterday. I try tomake something every day. Tomorrow will be pastry day.
Very nice. Thank you for the video. I did the dough in my food processor as I’ve only got one hand working atm but pulsed it rather than have it on full spin. It worked

You can also make clabber milk
That's so interesting! Thanks for the comment.
Or yoghurt
Oh my word ❤❤❤
They are delicious! Hope you give them a try.
I can't wait, I'll let you know 😊❤❤❤❤
👁👁 👏👏
In South Africa we call it scones not biscuits, to us biscuits must have a crunch to dip in tea or coffee😊
Yes, your biscuits are similar to our cookies here in USA! Thanks for the comment.
Thank you Mary, what is the temp of the oven? Blessings to all
she said her oven is set at 410°
I baked these at 410 degrees. You can bake them in a hotter oven as well and they will bake a little faster if you wish.
Did you heat the skillet first? Thanks
Yes, I put just little butter in it to coat the bottom of the pan and set it in the hot oven to melt the butter. It took about 3 minutes in the oven, then I took it out and added the biscuits to the pan. Thanks for watching!
Howw. much butter

You're very easy to listen to
Thank you! Welcome to my table. I'm so glad you're here.
Sweet milk?
It's just regular milk. Sometimes we call it sweet milk (as opposed to buttermilk, which is a bit sour). :)
How much butter?
It is 1 stick of butter, which is 1/2 cup. (Looks like you found that, though!) :)
Can you please give amounts for each ingredient ty❤
They are in the video! Thanks for watching.
1 stick of butter?
Yes, 1 stick. This would equal 1/2 cup of butter.
Thank you!
Could you Include the recipe ingredient amounts please¿
The measurements are given in the video! 4 cups of self-rising flour, 1 stick cold butter (1/2 cup) and 2-2 1/2 cups buttermilk (only as much as needed until dough barely comes together). Be sure to watch the video to catch the tips needed for the technique, though! Thanks for the comment.
The vinegar milk is called clabbered milk, not buttermilk.
It is similar to clabbered milk. Clabbered milk is naturally fermented from unpasteurized milk that is left at room temperature to allow bacteria to grow.
Looks like a scone to me
They are similar, but slightly different. Here in the United States, these are called biscuits.
I'm always disappointed when the recipes are not included following the video.
We are just getting started and are working on our website too! We will have it up soon and the recipes will be available there! Thanks for watching & be sure to check back for that soon!
If one pays attention …..
three ingredients is not “rocket science”
I’m 70 and can tell you verbatim what’s in this recipe…
3 Cups self rise flour
1 Stick frozen butter / grated
1 cup or less buttermilk … or vinegar added to sweet milk to substitute for buttermilk…
Butter cast iron pan …
410’ preheated oven 15 minutes
Melted Butter brushed tops when removed …
That it…
They are scones not biscuits. Biscuits are crisp baked goods.
They are similar to scones. However, here in the United States, these are biscuits. They are a bit fluffier than a scone. Our cookies here are similar to your biscuits.
😊
In the USA, these are biscuits. Look it up.
You do realize she isn’t a UK cooker right?
