My 1st Biscuit was at 20yrs old & it was the Pillsbury Biscuit & I loved it, lol. Then I enjoyed a so called home made Biscuit at a Country Eatery that was popular in L.A. & it was good, not great. Thennnn, my 1st real homemade Biscuit was in my mid 20's at my Caucasian friend's home & gosh, what a Blessed difference! Sadly, every single Hispanic friend & family of my youth until my mid 20's, just did NOT make homemade Biscuits. During Thanksgiving & Navidad, nope no Biscuit. I'm not a Baker sadly. I continue to strive to learn. So here I am STILL. I'm a proud Boomer Beba & grew up on all the meats you mentioned, plus Tongue, intestines, brains, EVERYTHING, bc back in the day, THAT was thee affordable parts to purchase & our beloved Mamà would cook up a storm. My grandma from Texas we call her momo. she was born in 1917 move to California we came along I remember her cooking hot water corn bread in a cast iron skillet using cornmeal I think butter milk .she used lard for grease .back than to fry food too

My grandmother (Gladys) would use a coffee mug to cut her biscuits. 😊She would have me and all 5 of my sisters in the kitchen with her while she cooked. Lol. And I know exactly what you mean about the salt and pepper. My dad only seasoned his food with salt and pepper. Lol. His chicken would taste just like KFC cause after he finished frying it, he would put it in a bowl and cover the top with a plate. That would make the skin soft just like KFC chicken. I love the stories because they remind me so much of the times growing up where I had the privilege to sit in the kitchen listening to my grandma, my mom, and my aunts talking about how they grew up eating different things that my granny would cook. I wish I would have been old enough to treasure and learn from my Granny first hand because recipes she had the best food and all of my aunts where amazing cooks they taught my mom but she's also not the best at teaching you because she doesn't do measurements she cooks from memory and from the heart. You remind me of my mom and grandmother and their biscuits. My grandmother taught my mom and my mom taught me. One of my favorite memories. I will teach my daughters.
Mama t, when I was a little girl, my grandfather would go hunting and we would eat whatever he brought back. That included wild rabbits, quail, and raccoon. My Mom and grandma would skin and pluck the animals in hot water on the closed in back porch. The family ate this food and it was fresh and tasty, especially the rabbit meat. When I told my coworkers that I ate raccoon, they couldn't believe it. We had these meals in the late 40's and early 50's.
A lot of people wouldn’t understand the food. We ate back in the day and we didn’t think anything about it. We just ate it. My grandfather would go hunting all the time too, and I especially love to eat their rabbits taste like chicken to me.❤️

New subscriber, I'm just so happy I ran across your channel. I love the stories because they remind me so much of the times growing up where I had the privilege to sit in the kitchen listening to my grandma, my mom, and my aunts talking about how they grew up eating different things that my granny would cook. I wish I would have been old enough to treasure and learn from my Granny first hand because recipes she had the best food and all of my aunts where amazing cooks they taught my mom but she's also not the best at teaching you because she doesn't do measurements she cooks from memory and from the heart. I've learned a few dishes also by just watching her and the rest I've learned through trial and error. Thanks for sharing your mom's recipes. ❤

Mama T, my mother made her biscuits with Gold Medal flour and she used salt and baking powder and they came out just as fluffy as Miss G‘s. We ate them jam or honey, and they were so good. You remind me so much of being down in Southwest Georgia and I am going to make biscuits as soon as I get my stuff together here.. God bless you and your Boo❤

Momma used to use Robin Hood Flour until they quit having it in the stores here years ago. They she switched to White Lily. Those look delicious!

White Lily is the only flour my mother would use for her biscuits and Crisco and it really does make a difference. Those look amazing and I'm sure they taste amazing 😊! Thank you so much for sharing ☺️!

Mama t, when I was a little girl, my grandfather would go hunting and we would eat whatever he brought back. That included wild rabbits, quail, and raccoon. My Mom and grandma would skin and pluck the animals in hot water on the closed in back porch. The family ate this food and it was fresh and tasty, especially the rabbit meat. When I told my coworkers that I ate raccoon, they couldn't believe it. We had these meals in the late 40's and early 50's.
A lot of people wouldn’t understand the food. We ate back in the day and we didn’t think anything about it. We just ate it. My grandfather would go hunting all the time too, and I especially love to eat their rabbits taste like chicken to me.❤️
