I’m 75 years old and never made a decent biscuit in my life, until today! Thanks for teaching me your secrets; and your voice and manner are so gentle and reassuring. God bless you!
My grandpa in Oklahoma used to make biscuits when I was a kid in the 50's (I'm 72) that you'd have to nail to the table to keep 'em from floatin' away. Sadly, I never paid attention. My mom?? She tried. Sadly, you could use hers for hockey pucks.
Some of y’all comments are so ungrateful. Ken made a video tutorial how to make the dern biscuits. Y’all are complaining he didn’t make enough. Do you think he needed to make 16 trays of biscuits to get the concept? He made a decent portion for you to get the idea of how to make the biscuits. SIMPLE.😊
I am gonna add to your comment, and I will be a shoutin': HELLOHHH! FLAKY BISCUITS FOR TWO! FLAKY BISCUITS FOR TWO! FLAKY BISCUITS FOR TWO! What does one NOT get about THIS video is for a 2-SERVINGS ONLY recipe? That is PRECISELY why I wanted to watch this video. Not everyone WANTS to make 12,16, 24, 48, and so on, biscuits. EYE wanted to make biscuits for my husband for breakfast as a special treat. USUALLY I get the frozen, "all ya gotta do is bake" Southern Style. This is going to be a great addition to my recipe box.
I am an extremely busy mom 5 children husband who passed from cancer I have no time to run to the store I had everything to make these they turned out so good I couldn’t believe it thank you so much you saved my day!!!!!! I can easily double or triple the recipe. Thank you thank you thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@KenClick Mr. Click, I'm watching your video for the 2nd time. For many, baking is easy, sadly not for me. Your voice, wording is so comforting & more importantly, very encouraging. Its hot right now being August, here in the Upper High Desert, Southern Cali, 2nd of Sept. "24". So I'm going to save your video, bc I really REALLY would love to try your recipe. I've watched ALOT of vids & yours is the one I feel most comfortable. Gracias Gracias! No doubt I'll watch your video again, lol. They look sooooo inviting to the hungry tummy, lol. Paz be with us all 🙏. "Isa"
When you were squeezing the butter and said, "It's easy, no problem at all" it reminded me of Bob Ross and then it kept happening. In case it's not clear, this is a serious compliment. Happy little biscuits. You are the Bob Ross of Biscuits.
I am a 60yo recent widower who's been learning to cook for himself on a regular basis. I've been doing the two-ingredient self-rising "Quick Biscuit" box recipe for a while and while it did the job, it just wasn't what I was looking for. Your recipe wasn't much more work and definitely tastier, fluffier, and flakier with just a touch of crispy crunch on the bottom. Thanks for taking me a step closer to enjoying my home-cooked meals again.
Now that's what I call biscuits! I'm 89 years old and I've made biscuits with plain flour and sweet milk for many many years. My mother and my grandmother made biscuits like this. There's a lot of buttermilk biscuit recipes, and I have nothing against buttermilk biscuits, but sweet milk biscuits are the ones that break into layers, while the buttermilk ones are fluffy and a little more cake like. It all depends on what you like. I'm just glad to see someone speaking up for those good old sweet milk biscuits. Great video. I like your use of the word "gentle." It speaks of respect and appreciation for a good, homely item of food that has been loved for generations.
You are a very nice person. I thought the same when Ken was using the word gentle. That's because he is a gentleman. I can tell that from the way he talked and his mannerisms. Thanks for your comments. d
My grandmother made a recipe like this, I never knew what happened to her cookbook. I want to try with whole wheat flour, how would I add whole wheat or multi grain flour? Do I need to also use white flour? Great video!
I love this video. I like that he uses regular ingredients, he uses measuring spoons, he’s encouraging and pleasant. No overlapping music. Just a straight tutorial. I also appreciate the small batch. I cook for two. Thank you sir. You are great.
I'm with you! Seems almost harder to cook for only 1 or 2 people! lol. I'm so used to cooking for a bigger family! I dont miss the dishes and clean up (Lol) ...but I do miss cooking for everyone!
I am definitely gonna make these! But here’s a tip, instead of breaking the butter up by hand, you can get a cheese grater and grate frozen butter into your mix. Saves time!
Me too! I failed at biscuits yet again this morning so Im hunting around for tips/recipes. I like this bc if I dont get it right I’m not wasting 4 cups of flour!

I’m an American staying in Ireland for one month. When I arrived to a rental cottage, the kind gracious landlady told me she baked scones for my welcome. Sure enough they were biscuits. I’m using your easy recipe for my stay since I have a kitchen and bread costs so much. Baking your own is way better. Thank you sir. This recipe is a keeper.
My wife loves biscuits and gray so I thought I would try this for her birthday. She loved them so much, that she bragged to her friends about it... lol.thx for sharing!
I'm 55 years old and I have never made biscuits before as I've been slowly teaching myself how to cook for the past year. And when you're just cooking for a very small batch this was perfect and I thank you so much Ken for the simple and easy instructions. Not all of us come with years of baking recipes and secret ingredients. Thank you!
I started back making biscuits the year before last. This was the first time since I was teenager in the early 1970's. I was in the mood one night and made some. You should have heard my wife when she tried one.😂 "You're the official biscuit maker now," she said. After I cut the butter into the flour, sometimes with cheedar, I put the bowl into the freezer for at least 20 minutes. Then I mix the milk/cream in. My finicky sister says mine with cheese remind her of Red Lobster's.
I just pulled my first batch out of the oven and I must say, these are the very BEST biscuits I have ever made! And the very easiest! I love them. In my case it is a batch made for one, ME💕 Thanks for this divine recipe🥰
I made Vegan biscuits on accident...This was a perfect beginner easy flaky biscuits recipe! I followed your instructions (with my substitutes: almond coconut milk instead of cow's milk, plant based butter instead of cow's butter), and it was so easy to do. I wasn't trying to make a vegan version, but that's all we had in the apartment at the time. They tasted really good too. Because I don't cook with much salt, I'll put a little less than 1/4tsp of salt in next time and hope I don't mess it up. LOL. Thank you so much for sharing. You're a fantastic instructor.
I’ve been looking for such a recipe, playing around with different proportions, they’ve all been good but this one is the best. Easy, delicious, no fuss for two people.
Ken has been a life saver! My oven went kerplunk and i was trying to figure how to cook the foods my husband and I really enjoy. Thank you for a recipe i can adjust a little to make enough for us without trying to reduce a large batch recipe. You have got yourself a new follower!
Just made a batch. The best biscuit recipe ever! You can always doible, triple, etc the recipe. One tip- throw the butter in the freezer for half an hour and use a cheese shredder. Works great! Thank you for sharing👍
Your voice is so pleasant and encouraging. I’ve always wanted to try and make biscuits but I’ve just been too afraid of making an absolute mess of them. Somehow your pleasant positive disposition has made me think today might finally be the day to attempt it. Thank you so much for making this look so fun and so simple. I really do appreciate you sharing this with us. ❤
I always wanted to learn how to make homemade biscuits but now at the age of 54 I just learned from your simple recipe and tips! Thanks so much for your awesome video.
This is by far the best biscuit recipe I’ve tried! I like that it’s for a small amount and I can just double it if I need more. Thank you for making it look so easy!
I must say, that I appreciate how you explained that this was for the novice person. Making biscuits can be very intimidating for some people, and you presented yourself in such a soothing and down to earth 🌍 manner that has probably made a lot of people run 🏃♀️ to their kitchen with growing confidence in their ability to bake your wonderful biscuits. I am not a novice baker, and even I am impressed. Thank you for sharing such an awesome experience with social media indeed.
I made them today for the first time, because in my country, this is not customary to eat... I am from Venezuela but my husband is American... it was a litmus test for me to make biscuits and for him to like them and he told me they are the best What he has eaten in his life... thank you thank you thank you!!! It’s the best recipe ever and the best way to explain the process!!! Thanks again!!
I've tried making homemade biscuits several times and they never came out right. After watching this video they came out perfect. Turns out I was kneading them too much. I only had skim milk and because of the lockdown couldn't get whole but they were perfect anyway with just the right amount of sweet. Thank you Ken.
I have tried this recipe numerous times. Ken has made my life so much easier as a single person leaning to cook for one which is new for me I. Am grateful
Obviously you haven't read a cook book! Biscuits are made with 2 cups flour, 1 tablespoon baking powder, 1 teaspoon salt, 1/4 to 1/3 cups shortening, and 3/4 cup milk. These ingredients are called STAPLES. A staple is a food which is used regularly in cooking. Get a cookbook!
@@paulacornelison243 I have been in Two marriages 13yrs with one 7yrs. So you right but you didn't have to be mean. So this is new for me. I am very grateful for ken.
I used 2% and they turned out great in case anyone else only has 2% on hand and get a craving for baking powder biscuits. I'll definitely be making these repeatedly. Thank you so much Ken.
Made these this morning. Man oh man are they ever good! Came out perfect and I followed Ken's vid step by step. My picky elderly mom LOVED them which made me happy. This is definitely a keeper and I like the fact that they only make 4 biscuits and a "runt". :)
Thanks I had to watch six other videos before I found one that was actually realistic all purpose flour whole milk butter simple things for a poor old not too much not too little. Great help just like Jesus!
I felt so encouraged to try and actually do it because you kept saying 'It's easy'. I wish parents would tell this to their children on any chore the kids need to do. Sometimes people feel overwhelmed by stuff, having someone pushing, yelling, doesn't help. Thank you🙏
I love this video for so many reasons. The batch is small so it’s much more reality based instead of “instagram pretty”. He chose cheapest ingredients possible to make an amazing meal/food so it’s accessible. Even better he went into the “why”s of how biscuits work so you can really learn instead of just mimic. Good job 👍🏽
Out of all the biscuit recipes I have found this the best and easy to make I have made them several times now. And the family loved them . And I loved how sweet and kind your voice sounds so calming thank you so much! 😁😁
@@michellecarl1255 Yes I use both, esp. in the winter I stock my shelves with both canned milk & powered milk because the road I live on runs along the river, many times the road is too icy to drive on so winters I have to stock up, it doesn't change the taste.
Ok...made these tonight to accompany my elk chili.....OH MY GOD ! Perfection! So delish, light, fluffy, flakey! Perfect amount for two and we have leftovers ( ok, I also made an apple pie..so we are stuffed)..this is the best recipe! Thank you! We have leftover biscuits that will be fought over in morning!👍
I watch TH-cam baking and cooking videos very very often. And this is probably the best most encouraging easy going recipe video I've come across. Thank you for making this video! ✨
Thank you for this video, Ken! I was about to make the first biscuits of my life with a recipe that called for 3 cups of all purpose flour and I was scared. This one is perfect for a first timer because you don't make a huge amount!
Oh my goodness I just made these and they came out perfect! I'm one of those people that has never been able to make biscuits come out right, but these did. Thankyou so much for the helpful video. I plan to triple this recipe and make them all the time 😁.
@@KenClick I’ve been struggling for years with biscuits (great at cooking but not baking). I doubled the recipe for my larger family. These turned out amazing! Thank you 😊
@@patmartens4751I go. The secret is moisture. Just don’t flour them that way, don’t drown them in the flour. I think that’s like taking the air out of them and they collapse. Dust not drown.
We love our Scones in the UK. We don't usually serve them with meals, unless its a Cobbler topping as we would serve Yorkshire Pudding as a savoury. We make three kinds. Sweet (served with clotted cream and strawberry jam) fruit (raisins) and cheese (grated Cheddar added to original mix with a little sprinkled on top) these are great for lunch or with soup. Your Biscuits look wonderful. Great rise!
Mmmm....These biscuits look so delicious , and are exactly the way biscuits should be made .Thank you for sharing your recipie here as your tutorial is excellent .God bless you always .🌹💖💖🎉🌷
I just made a batch and am cooking them on the stove like you did in another video. I live alone so the small portion is great for me. I've made biscuits for almost 54 years, turned out good and kids and husband lived them. Now it's a new season of like for me , so this is a great recipe. Thank you
This was the only receipt I was able to achieve. My biscuit where so so good. That was the 6 different receipt I had tried. This one I was able to do. Thank you 👍🏽
I'm 14 and these biscuits are a favorite in our house. Thank you for your helpful tips and tricks. The instructions are very clear, and even I can make it!
I think your biscuits are just great. Thank you so much. I wondered what I would do if I had no buttermilk and no self rising flour and now I know once again thank you.❤❤❤❤
I was so overwhelmed with making biscuits. I would only make the ones that already came premade just to place in the oven and bake. I made them once or twice from scratch, and they ended up like rocks. I said never again. Then, about two years ago, i came across your video and thought, "Maybe it's time to try once again." My husband will not eat biscuits and gravy anywhere else but home. They HAVE to be with these biscuits. Thank you, sir. You are my hero. These are so easy and delicious. I have made them ever since and have never messed them up and have quadrupled the recipe for Thanksgiving. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
I tried this recipe a while back and "WOW" they sure were great! I'm making them again tomorrow and look forward to the deliciousness again. Thank you so very much for sharing your recipe and technique with us! Sending blessings your way!
I liked the positive energy Ken put into the biscuits while giving the instructions. Not to forget to mention how he worked the ingredients with tenderness. Food is for our health and how we feel when cooking really matters, cause that energy goes directly into our food and passes on. I always pray and ask God to bless the food I prepare and may his energy be transfered into the food.
Hi folks I've got a sausage gravy and tomato gravy recipe: 3 Tbsp flour 3 Tbsp grease(bacon or crisco) 5 cups Milk with salt and pepper ready in a bowl(any milk works) 1 Cup crumbled Sausage Directions: STEP 1.Put grease in skillet STEP 2. Add flour 1 Tbsp at a time until incorporated STEP 3. Stir until lightly browned. STEP 4. Add milk mixture. * YOU can also leave out the sausage. I love to leave out the sausage and add a can of crushed tomatoes for some good tomato gravy(It's yummy) ENJOY!!!
@@cris241974 My mom grew up poor in the '30s and '40s, and she said that making gravy was a tasty way to eat the grease, so that it wouldn't go to waste. She said that growing up as poor as she did, with 7 siblings, it was difficult for everybody to get enough calories, and so not much was thrown away.
Thank you for this. I have tried for many years to make a nice biscuit. You finally helped me to succeed. I doubled the recipe and it made wonderful 10 wonderful biscuits. You are my hero!
Thank you, Ken! I am about to make these this morning…your recipe brought back childhood memories of my grandma making me biscuits before I went to school….fond memories for sure. Ok, I am adding to my post. I like to mill my own flour, so I used one cup of milled soft white wheat flour and made your biscuits. They are beautiful and crunchy. They melt in your mouth. I can’t put the photo in for some reason but I am thrilled with this recipe!
Add a little vinegar to the regular milk will turn it to buttermilk. You just have to let it sit for a few minutes while you're preparing the work area and the flour mix.
Wow brother! First of all to find a biscuit recipe for two is outstanding and second of all I love your method I love how you use the inexpensive flower and regular milk, I love that you emphasize the gentleness with the dough and that you bake it in your skillet. They came out perfect and from now on this is going to be my go-to biscuit recipe. Awesome!!!
Okay, I tried these today, and am happy to report that they came out perfectly!! So light and tasty. Thank you. PS: I love your simple, no fuss presentation.

Because I don't cook with much salt, I'll put a little less than 1/4tsp of salt in next time and hope I don't mess it up. LOL. Thank you so much for sharing. You're a fantastic instructor.
Thank you for the kind words! I'm glad they turned out well for you!
I’ve been looking for such a recipe, playing around with different proportions, they’ve all been good but this one is the best. Easy, delicious, no fuss for two people.
Thanks for your comments! Please share the video! 🙂
Ken has been a life saver! My oven went kerplunk and i was trying to figure how to cook the foods my husband and I really enjoy. Thank you for a recipe i can adjust a little to make enough for us without trying to reduce a large batch recipe. You have got yourself a new follower!
That is awesome! I'm glad to be of help. 🙂
I did this yesterday and it came out AMAZING and it's my first time baking something too! Thank you so much!
I'm so glad to hear that! Thanks for watching.
I’m still trying..
I'm a chef and this is the best tutorial I've seen literally the best
Thank you!

If your a chef and yours came out great; tell me how do you get rid of the flour taste? I follow the recipe and the biscuits taste so floury?
@@oearlya2870 No one else has that complaint. You did something wrong
Just made a batch. The best biscuit recipe ever! You can always doible, triple, etc the recipe. One tip- throw the butter in the freezer for half an hour and use a cheese shredder. Works great! Thank you for sharing👍
Glad you like them! 🙂
Amazing I'm making this thank you tou make it look so easy. ❤❤❤
Great tip THX Basqueman 1!
Give it a try, I think you'll like them.
I always wanted to learn how to make homemade biscuits but now at the age of 54 I just learned from your simple recipe and tips! Thanks so much for your awesome video.
That's great to hear! Just made my day!
This is by far the best biscuit recipe I’ve tried! I like that it’s for a small amount and I can just double it if I need more. Thank you for making it look so easy!
Glad you like it! 🙂
@@KenClick good biscuit
Yesss..thats exactly what I did!!!🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹
I must say, that I appreciate how you explained that this was for the novice person.
What a nice thing to say! I appreciate your kind words.
Excellent! You just made my day! Glad your husband liked them! 🙂
just made these and they are perfect & this is coming from a 75 yr old southern boy who has eaten many a biscuit-just like mama's!!
That's good to hear! Thanks for watching and commenting!
Great tutorial! You've inspired me and encouraged me to try making my own homemade biscuits! Thank you 💗
Enjoy!
I've tried making homemade biscuits several times and they never came out right. After watching this video they came out perfect. Turns out I was kneading them too much. I only had skim milk and because of the lockdown couldn't get whole but they were perfect anyway with just the right amount of sweet. Thank you Ken.
Glad they turned out well for you!
I didn’t think about it this morning but next time I’m gonna use Buttermilk!!
Been making this recipe this past year a handful of times and it’s a HIT EVERY TIME! Thanks so much!!

Finally biscuits using what you have at home ! Awesome ! Thank you Jen for sharing this reciepe for sure Im going to try it.
My exact thoughts.
And not a huge batch like Martha and Rachael. :) great job!
Glad to hear it! Thanks for watching and commenting! 🙂
I forgot to add butter once making biscuits, so ended up spreading it over the mixture before folding it a few times, it really increased the height!

Made these this morning. Man oh man are they ever good! Came out perfect and I followed Ken's vid step by step. My picky elderly mom LOVED them which made me happy. This is definitely a keeper and I like the fact that they only make 4 biscuits and a "runt". :)

I've never been able to make a great biscuit like my grandmother used to, but today was that day! Thank you!

Now I'm going to make some good bacon gravy, scrambled eggs
I'm glad to be of help! 🙂
I felt so encouraged to try and actually do it because you kept saying 'It's easy'. I wish parents would tell this to their children on any chore the kids need to do. Sometimes people feel overwhelmed by stuff, having someone pushing, yelling, doesn't help.
Thank you🙏
I appreciate your comment so much. Thank you!
Good job 👍🏽
Exactly! Great comment...🙂
Out of all the biscuit recipes I have found this the best and easy to make I have made them several times now. And the family loved them . And I loved how sweet and kind your voice sounds so calming thank you so much! 😁😁

Same here..bye bye canned biscuit dough. Now I need a good milk gravy recipe. Do u all use whole milk or canned milk??? Anyone...
Michelle Carl I use whole milk
@@michellecarl1255 Yes I use both, esp. in the winter I stock my shelves with both canned milk & powered milk because the road I live on runs along the river, many times the road is too icy to drive on so winters I have to stock up, it doesn't change the taste.
Toonz: They look easy to make and better tasting. I'll give it a try.
Whole milk even a little half and half sometimes.
Thank you for your time and effort. You taught something that most people will enjoy, nevermind those that don't appreciate.

Ok...made these tonight to accompany my elk chili.....OH MY GOD ! Perfection! So delish, light, fluffy, flakey! I am old and made them for years but I never folded them over and over…..thank must be the secret mine didn’t rise so high. 👏👏
@@patmartens4751I go. The secret is moisture. Just don’t flour them that way, don’t drown them in the flour. I think that’s like taking the air out of them and they collapse. Dust not drown.

Glad to hear it!
That's so good to hear! You just made my day! 🙂
I cook for myself alone often and I love this recipe. I have enough for today and leftover to reheat the next day. Perfect! Thank you!

I already make great biscuits but I always make too many. I tried this and they were great. Thanks for making the video.
🙂👍
Ken you are great love all your recipes.. thank you for making my life easier as a single person thank you
If you make too many throw the extras in the freezer for later. They reheat in the microwave for about 12 to 30 seconds for a quick snack.

Hi folks I've got a sausage gravy and tomato gravy recipe:
3 Tbsp flour
3 Tbsp grease(bacon or crisco)
5 cups Milk with salt and pepper ready in a bowl(any milk works)
1 Cup crumbled Sausage
Directions:
STEP 1.Put grease in skillet
STEP 2. Add flour 1 Tbsp at a time until incorporated
STEP 3. Stir until lightly browned.
STEP 4. Add milk mixture.
* YOU can also leave out the sausage. I love to leave out the sausage and add a can of crushed tomatoes for some good tomato gravy(It's yummy)
ENJOY!!!
1968catrece Hello, can you tell me how much salt and pepper? Thanks!
I usually do it to taste. About a 1/2 tsp each I would guess. I'm just used to doing it. LOL I will measure next time.

Thanks for the tutorial I live in the UK and my 8 year old is obsessed with American food. And has asked for biscuits I am going to now try lol

How did they come out?
If you are in the UK, biscuits are nothing but scones ! but we normally eat them with jam/cream or something sweet, not eaten with savoury 'gravy'.
Many people in the United States eat biscuits with different varieties of jams, jellies and syrups. Gravy is just another option.

Wonderful!
Thank you! Milk I always have on hand, buttermilk never. Appreciate how well you made it look simple while giving detailed information 👍👍
My pleasure 😊
Add a little vinegar to the regular milk will turn it to buttermilk. You just have to let it sit for a few minutes while you're preparing the work area and the flour mix.
Wow brother! First of all to find a biscuit recipe for two is outstanding and second of all I love your method I love how you use the inexpensive flower and regular milk, I love that you emphasize the gentleness with the dough and that you bake it in your skillet.
